The 3d game is browsered. It resembles the look of diablo in the way things are animated. It is very flashy and nice to look at while playing. The 2d game can be optioned for full screen or windowed. They are not java but their requirements are so low, anyone could run them on the weakest of machines. Put it this way. My laptop runs them just fine with only 248 ram. That is more than enough by far. Out of respect for the rules of this board, and to its admins, I cannot publicly display their names as that would be advertising for non runescape. I want it to be made clear I am not advertising for other games. I am only talking about the possibility of running a fully functional MMORPG with scheduled updates, for free. Something I left out, thought the 2d game is completely free, the 3d game has the option to buy items from what they call an e-store. You buy these items with real money and use them to help your char, or chars, to lvl or grow in skill. It is more like a donation with a return gift. If you would really like to know what these games are, I don't think it would bother anyone if I told you over a PM. Be forewarned though, that the games do have an annoyingly long download. However it is a nice change of pace for when RS gets a little tedious.

Over the past few days I have been getting quite burnt out with RS. The things they have you do in this game get very mundane. It is just so repetitious that after a time I tend to dread getting online to train any further. I am not saying I hate the game. I am not saying I am quiting. I am simply saying that from time to time I need a break, a change of pace. So as I was looking over the Internet, using my friend Google, I come across two very interesting things. Now with all this ranting and raving between f2p and p2p, the argument has seem to come to the bottom line that if you don't pay then you don't deserve anything. Now this I am not going to argue or want to see argued in this thread. Instead I wast to show that there are companies out there that thrive just fine with f2p games. Some of these games even dwarf RS in game play and in graphics. I could list two games that I am playing at this time, but for the sake of this web site's owners, I will not publicly name them so to not advertise none RS games on a RS site. But I will describe some details found in the games as to show how far a free to play game can go with no fee what so ever. In both games that I have found, you can have multiple characters under a single account. One has 2d graphics while the other is full 3d rendered. The 2d game is very much like RS in look and feel but deals a lot more into customization of your individual character. Hardly will you ever find two characters that look anything like one another. There is no actual class system but the skills are stand alone and can be molded into class if the player so chooses. The play world is huge with boats taking you from one land to another and it even has a beginner's island to get you used to the game controls. The only real difference, other than graphics, is that the character control is both mouse and arrow keyed. Makes for easier movement. The 3d game has several worlds you can move around in. You can teleport to these lands from the various cities in each. The monsters are very vivid and have a good AI. The graphics in general are amazing. I can't believe something of this design is actually free. There are four classes to choose from with each their own look and skill ladder. I cannot go into more detail than that because I haven't played it very long nor have I gotten to know much of the player base. One thing about these games is that the 2d seems very RS in as the player base seems to have the same attitudes being perverted, cutthroat, and a little juvenile; but the 3d game is more complex and tends to have more of a mature player base. The 3d game has PvP aspects that each individual player can turn on or off. The 2d has no PvP that I have seen thus far. Both worlds are huge with large varieties of monsters and dungeons. It is very easy to get lost in either game. Now I don't mean to sound like I am bragging on either game. I don't want anyone to think that I think any one game is better than the other. I am only describing them to show that there is a way to make a MMORPG for free and have it quite favorable to play. So like my topic reads, "It can be done."

I don't have a goal for my own post count. I am sure others do. Those that do and get reported for spam, have their posts removed. With the posts removed, so is the count for those posts. I would rather see the post count stay. It shows who has been around the most. Kind of shows who are the most active on this site, and who are the regulars. Then you can check on those user's previous posts to see if they are posting sense. The post counts help me to get to know the user's that have been around for the longest time so I don't feel like such an outsider since I am new.

So that is what that meant. I was so clueless.

Make notes? Thats something I haven't heard as of yet. What is and how do you make notes?

I might very well be missing something here. See back in the day, several years ago, when I used to play this game regularly, I remembered hearing something about the ability to do trades through your bank iventories. Now mind you, this was back before members accounts were started. Has this gone into game yet or did it not work out? The idea was that you could use the bank box to set up your trade so that you could sell 1k cooked lobsters in a single shot. The money for the purchase would would go from the buyer's bank inventory to the seller's. This would also be true for the purchase items. When the two of you would agree on the trade, you would both open the bank box. You could then select to offer x amount of an item and it would go into the trade window as a stack, just like if you had depossited to your bank inventory. If the trade is agreed and finished, you would close it just like a normal trade. The only difference is the end of the trade would simply swap the items from each other's bank inventory.

You are not bugging me. I just took from the way the amulet was described, that it only factored on attack and str. Since attack and str have no effect on my rang attack, I just figured that the diamond amulet had no effect for me. Having those defences would help when I get jumped but I have no idea how much effect the extra 2 rang bonus will have.

About the combat lvls, I guess I just wasn't thinking. I haven't had any sleep in a long while. I just ranged my way from 26 to 40. About the dragon hide, I know it is only the body that needs 40 rang and defense. I had the chaps and the vambraces in my bank waiting on my rang to hit 40. Now I just need to get the chest. I guess I should call it body.... Just looks like a chest piece to me..... I don't know about a diamond amulet. Bonus to attack and strength, doesn't have to do with rang.

I have to have at least 40 defence. It is needed for green dragonhide chest. Right now my stats are: rang: 37 defense: 20 hit points: 29 prayer: 10 and magic 8 just cause I did imp catcher for amulet of accuracy. As it stands, at this moment, I have a combat of 31. I was just looking at the combat calculator and saw that a few lvls of prayer would raise my combat lvl. I don't think that is a good idea due to the fact that my rang attack only does 6 max dmg. Not that I am worried about being attacked by things too strong for me, its that when I go to attack things I want to rang, I have to right click then choose to attack. That makes getting in on an attack before someone else jumps it, a little hard.

I am f2p but am not sure if I will take this pure to members or not. I have another char as my main. I am making this rang pure cause I just feel like it. I don't plan on doing any PKing because I am against PK in general. I was just wondering about the prayer thing because mostly all I see it do is str and attack. Niether of those two effect rang so.....

Should a range pure try to raise prayer at all? I plan on being a full dragon hide wearing ranger so i will have at least 40 defense, if that matters.

I would say that right when someone else posted a link so I could see studded leather that was trimed with gold.... I feel like an idiot, big time.

If (g) means gold trimed then what was the guy asking when he asked for studded leather (g)? I have seen plate that was trimed but never leather.

So far I have seen people shouting in the banks saying they are selling addy (g). Then I see a post asking how much a studded leather (g) costs. So I know this might sound stupid but what the heck is a (g)?

Actually no. That is another form of leather work, like studded, called reinforced leather. Instead of glued to the leather, the metal strips are sewn into the piece like you would pad a quilt. It is kind of like scale mail. Scale mail is attatched to the outside, reinfoced is sewn between the layers. Now that would be something to see.... Bronze, iron, steel, mithril, addamant, runite reinforced leathers.

That is a great idea. I am going to have to do some quests then. Will have to get some mining and smithing xp so I can get the iron. Like you said, trying for steel isa bit much cause of the coal problem. I hope I am lucky to get a trade once I get all of the items. I had sold 1690 feathers while selling cowhides. Thats how I got the dragon hide chap and vambraces as well as 1K bronze arrows. Only sold 50 hides for 5k.

Does anything return run energy? I thought once that drinking did but since I returned to this game, drinking beer does diddly.

I found a vender in Varrak that sells studded leather on a normal basis. So now I am decked out with a coif from champ guild and studded chaps. Now just need to work some deffense for the studded chest. Call me a fool for working defense on a pure, but I like wearing a full set of what ever I am wearing. Will have to get a green dragonhide chest some day. I already have the chaps and vambracers. Selling those cowhides really payed off.

Guess with the system update going on right now, I am going to have to wait on that armor. I will have to wait till people start selling things to the venders because they will be reset after this. Then I will try to world hop and get them.

Another question, where can you get some studded chaps and chest? I just got to 20 range and my range armor shows I can wear studded chaps and chest. I know where I can get the coif but not the chaps or chest. I know most pures don't wear the chest pieces because of the defense requirement but im strange.

Did you say sell hides at 15 each? I see people shouting in the banks selling them for 100 a piece. I always thought that was insane. I would rather spend the time collecting the hides rather than paying 100 per hide. I guess cow hides would be a good way to go. I was collecting them for myself but selling them right now is more of a necessity. Dang, sounds like I missed a pretty good game. Usually if I know when a game is going to be played, I can look for it later that night on tape delay. And here I thought Germany would go on especially after that amazing overtime game ending in the penalty kicks. Sure they looked a little somber and even a little lazy but I figured the OT and penalty scare would have snapped them out of it and deffinatly going up again a foe like Italy with such a bad track record..... Oh I wish I could have seen it... #-o

Oh shoot, then I missed it..... On a side note, football is American sport, its futball. But I guess the loosing streak against Italy just got extended. I don't think they have ever beaten Italy in the world cup... Back on topic, never would have thought that maintaining a stack of arrows, at 6gp a piece, would be so dang hard.........

How can I train till I can kill giants without any arrows? LOL Hey Peche, when does Germany play next? I don't get much info due to channels not available.....

How do youo f2p range pures do it? I am now range 18 and am in need of arrows. Money is not something I have been collecting when out ranging, so how do you afford your arrows? I am now down to 50 bronze arrows. I have always ranged things that I could pick up my arrows but the return is not the same as used. Mostly what I have been ranging is dwarves. Been standing under the cliff and taking out the dwarves on top then from above taking the ones below. There is just no money in that. So what can I range at range lvl 18 combat 16, that will give me some cash flow to replenish my arrow supply?
