No. You don't need to do the Observatory quest to get clues. You only need to do that quest if: - you get a coordinates clue AND - you've already started the quest and haven't finished it OR - you click on the wrong thing when you're asking the Professor for Treasure Trail help.

You don't have to do the quest if you don't want to. Get a rope and go to the house at the top of the falls, go out the West door and board a raft. The raft will take you to the first island in the river, then it will break. Once you're on the first island, turn your orientation (use your left and right arrow keys) so that the S on your mini-map is at the top, and the N is at the bottom. You need to do this to be able to see the rock on the second island. Once you see the large grey rock, use your rope with it to get to the second island. Dig next to the tree.

The fountain is outside Draynor Manor, in the Southwest corner of the property. Look here: X marks the location of the fountain.

Thanks for letting us know. From what I understand, the house in the clue is the house to the East. We will add the clue to the next release of the Treasure Hunting Guide.

To get the location, why not try the TIP.it Treasure Locator? All you have to do is enter your coordinates and click "Get Location". The spot will be shown on a map for you.

Here's the approximate location: You can't miss it. Just walk East from the bridge until you see a big rock. The entrance is on the North side of the rock, if I'm not mistaken.

It's called the "Sorcerer's Tower" on the world map, and it's just South of Seers' Village. Look here: If you're going there for the "How to breed scorpions" clue, go upstairs and search the bookcase.
