  1. Recently timed: With goldsmith's gauntlets at Neitiznot furnace with decent concentration is 1.1k ores/hour. So around 60k smithing experience/hour. This applies from 40-99. I have the rough numbers for a ton of other things, but they are not well timed, so take these with a grain of salt. 70 WC ivy: 65k exp/h 70 Fishing Monkfish: 35k exp/h 60 mining Iron: 40k exp/h Alching: 70k exp/h Hunting swamp lizard: 40k exp/h 60 agility wilderness course: 40k exp/h Cooking: 1.1k fish/hour at Rogue's den Firemaking: 1.1k logs/hour at Grand Exchange Runecrafting: Around 15k exp/h crafting fire runes with duel rings
  2. To anyone using her ATM. Is the Jad task (25k slayer exp bonus) worth it? It seems like a toss-up assuming you can complete caves in around 2 hours, and totally not worth it if you get owned by Jad.
  3. This accuracy question cannot be tackled with unscientific ways. To answer this question we need to know several things: Are hits scattered at random (max hit = 27, and when you roll a hit you have a 1/27 chance of hitting each number) or does accuracy (And in that respect, attack) have an effect on the scatter. To do this, we would need reasonably accurate recordings done on various defense levels. I would say three varying levels of defense would be adequate. If the gathered data supports the notion max hits are scattered at random, then all we need is to test the effect of accuracy, and isolating accuracy. The best way to isolate accuracy and test it specifically would be using ranged. Ranged strength and melee strength behaves the same way; Ranged level is equivalent to one attack and strength level, and most importantly, ranged bonus can be altered almost freely without affecting ranged strength. Knowing this, the usefulness of accuracy can be tested on many different things. However, the same cannot be used to test the usefulness of the Attack skill. The steps I listed above is simply a small footstep if we want to understand accuracy in the Runescape system. It is most likely a simple equation, but the constants of said equation is almost impossible to derive without freakishly accurate data across defense levels and defense bonuses. (Think of all the years we've had to find the correct constants and variables for the accurate formula of combat levels, and failed... and that equation, once we found it out, was almost impossibly simple. And keep in mind, throughout all these calculations, error have to be taken into account. The Runescape system is very randomized, so without sufficient error analysis, there is a very good chance someone's research, though fundamentally sound, could end up flawed.
  4. Still got mine :) just screwing around on him when bored. But honestly, it is pretty rare. Can't believe I forgot to pick up my bunny ears on him though..
  5. Good effort, but you tested the wrong thing (evident by the above response) I, for one would be highly interested if you did research on the performance of weapons in practical applications. Eg. Is leaf-bladed sword really better for metal dragons? If so, by how much. That can be tested by counting hits, creating an average and calculating error. Then, you can have a more accurate weapon ranking system. (For example, it is widely believed whip's DPS is higher than Godsword's DPS on most monsters, but a test would be very valuable)
  6. After testing out a stretched HD screen for pking, I have concluded that.. it sucks. Just the small HD already allows further sight, and the [developmentally delayed]ed button placements on the big HD made me die several times..
  7. Does this advantage apply to the window sized HD (where it is the same sized as SD)? I have never used HD ever just due to preferences but this could be useful.
  8. Good guide, I will definitely head to the brutal green dragons soon. Do you think 5 or 10% range prayer should be used to improve efficiency and what about void?
  9. Constructive criticism (Don't take this personally): -Have an eye catching title "99 Ranger's Guide to Training Range and Using It!" Sounds and looks a lot better no? -Use proper punctuation, capitalization and effective spacing. - Remove all the bias eg. "The best training weapon!" You said about knives (which by the way, is spelled knives). This is a subjective thing. While you may believe it to be true (And it certainly is, in certain situations), it is not "The best training weapon!" period. In that example, I would say something to the effect of "Knives are a highly effective method of training ranged, especially against foes with low defense due to their speed but relatively low range bonus." A second example would be "Unless you have 55 slayer for broad bolts I wouldn't use them for training." in the Crossbow section. While YOU might not use them for training, this is a guide for OTHER players. I see tons of players with mithril bolts plunking at dragons and other tougher monsters. -Only have what is necessary Honestly, I don't think the GIFs are necessary. (You've got a GIF of ice blitz/dragon claws rush, how does that contribute to your guide?). As well, how does screenshots of your kills contribute? As well, I have to question the choice of putting in the special attack of crossbow bolts that are redundant. How often do you see players using Red Topaz bolts? You could have covered the useless bolts section in 2 lines. As for the armor section, are pictures of ranging equipment really necessary? It would be more effective to explain the ranging armors that are popular (Void, Armadyl, and Dragonhide) and talk about their strengths and weaknesses. Now, onto the false information: Diamond (e) bolts: The chance of the spec actually happening is approximately 13% at 99 range. (Read this topic: http://www.truthscape.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2407). It will hit about as often as Dragon (e) bolts due to the fact that Dragon (e) bolts are made from Rune bolts. However, Dragon (e) bolts will have the chance of hitting huge special effects. Ranged strength DO effect accuracy. Take that Zanik's crossbow, go to steel dragons, use bone bolts for the first kill and addy bolts for the second. You can not tell me you hit the same amount of zeros due to the same ranged bonus. Finally, your methods of training ranged are very ineffective. Efficiency is the ability to perform the most with the time you are given. If, for example, you get 60k experience an hour at giant spiders (Fairly reasonable number for 90 range), and at aviansies get 40k experience and 350k an hour (Also, fairly reasonable number if you are tanking aviansies at 90 range), you should only do giant spiders if you make more than 1.05m an hour or need to afk. Why? Because in 3 hours, you can do 3 hours of aviansies and receive 120k ranged experience as well as 1.05m, and in 2 hours of giant spiders, you will receive the same 120k experience. Therefore, for giant spiders to be worth it, you have to earn more than 1.05m in that third hour. It is the same concept in soul wars. Now, if you find it fun or a worthwhile usage of time, nobody is stopping you, but just understand that efficiency is lost. (This may not be important to some people, but it certainly is to others) Lastly, efficiency also takes into consideration the costs of training ranged. Bronze knives, although they are the cheapest, are often outclassed by more expensive weapons in both experience/hour AND profit/hour. Therefore, for training, there are situations bronze ranged weapons are not ideal. Phew I was bored. Sorry if I seem harsh, but it is just some constructive criticism. If you want your guide to be of a higher quality. Other things such as cropping pictures/chinchompas have already been mentioned.
  10. while not necessarily an update.. the phat duping (Nov 2003) probably have just as much of an impact as any update in there. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I wasn't able to take advantage of the dupe.
  11. just did it at 55/59/65 inv: 2 super attack/2 super str/16 sara brew (4), 8 restore pot(4) and weapon was a rune spear (s) It was easier than I thought I poisoned the knights, hid next the dummies. let the poison get them to half then finish them off. Ended up with 4 restore pots, 8 sara brews and 3 doses of str/attack left.
  12. If i can use dragon weapons I wouldn't be making this thread.. And if I get 60 attack before this, I will get 20k exp from finishing Knight's waves putting me too close to 61 for comfort. Therefore.. I am in a dilemma where I can only use weapons under 60 attack, and none of them are exactly ideal choices.
  13. Ok cool 2nd question: can you use a familiar in there? I'm going to load a TB with 9 brews/3 restores if thats the case and I can probably grind it out with super poisoned rune dagger and leaf bladed sword
  14. Seems like a good idea with the new BH world update where 90% of ppl use dscim right? Well my 55/60/65 account is close to that.. but how would I beat Knight's waves training ground with the mighty rune scim? Anyways.. I think 60 attack with piety will be a pretty big advantage in the new BH gives -2.5combat vs 70 attack
  15. maybe.. they made it +10% range level (accuracy) and +10% max hit (added on at the end) just taking a wild shot
