  1. The important difference being that "in lieu", unlike "intuiting", is now widely used and accepted English. It was also actually appropriate in the context here, unlike "intuiting"... or "contradiction in terms". Until you can improve your own grasp of English, you're just going to make yourself look ridiculous. I was expecting you to have actually read the article. My mistake.
  2. I think you'll find the only people who actually words like "intuiting" in lieu of plain language are posers are trying to make themselves sound intelligent, or poor writers trying to obscure a lack of content. It's a clumsy word, and in this context actually incorrect. Well, you fell for it. =D>
  3. Free demo, cheap access to the full game and good content in both. That's enough.
  4. That's for me to know, and everyone else to obsess over.
  5. Well, I can tell you the Editor is a master of disguise (which includes his writing style, even). When I first learned of it, even though I'd known him for a while beforehand, it came completely out of the blue - I wasn't quite sure if I believed him for a bit. But! I can tell you one thing: he's had fun reading this thread. No, that's all you're getting.
  6. You can posture about selfishness all you like, and if people were more generous and friendly Scape would indeed be a nicer game. However, anyone who takes that attitude with them to the wilderness is deluded. The entire point of the place is to kill people and take their stuff. Longorefisher already answered Davydude, so I'll move right along... What wilderness have you been playing in? You don't need to risk more if you have to gain more. A smart player can get a kill risking nothing more than a DDS. You're welcome to take whatever items you like, but everyone else is equally entitled to take nothing but, say, an anchor, and smash your face in with it. You're more likely to win if you have better equipment, but they don't have to risk anything to take it from you. Flammacor, could you please stop using long words you don't understand... it doesn't make you sound smart, it makes you sound like a poser. And yes, I despise the stupidity of w18 pking, but I don't say pkers need to change what they do: they merely need to accept that anyone can do whatever they like in the wilderness. It's not a "rule", it's a fact of life. Ladies and gentlemen of Tip.It, I give you someone who missed the point... That's a very interesting point, and the first good argument for honour pking I've heard... well, ever. Good one, I hadn't thought of that. Edited with more comments.
  7. Wrong, wrong, wrong. The two are completely different. If someone uses the "x-log" to get away from a duel, that's bug abuse, is against the rules and completely unforgivable. It's not "part of the game" at all. Teleporting, however, is completely allowed by the game, and if you can't deal with that it's your problem. The pker isn't entitled to your stuff unless he kills you fair and square. Actually read the article, please, especially the parts with reference to teleblocking. If you don't like people teleporting, then why don't you TB them? Jagex have given you the tools to stop people escaping. If you don't use them, what does that make you? Alternatively, if you like fights with rewards more to your taste, go down to the duel arena and leave the wilderness to the actual PKers. What you describe isn't pking, it's just duelling for people who don't know where Al Kharid is. You can pin that one on the Tip.It crewmember who edited my post, too. 8-)
  8. Sorry, Flammacor, but I already explained that completely. Maybe you'd like to re-read the article, because I'm not sure you've understood it. Thanks! That might make for a good article of its own. You should submit one! :) The thing is... assuming you meant "use underhand tactics", rather than "haxxor myself to 200 str", it's NOT cheating. It's completely allowed for by the game, and if people can't deal with that it's their problem. their rune armour. Better? 8-) That's up to the Tip.It crew. :) The original article I submitted was, in fact, a little more angry and aggressive, but Tip.It toned the language down a bit. Fair enough, we don't want to start a flame war here... I've pked alone and with clans, on f2p and p2p, with one item or a bag full of pain. I've pked with mage, range and melee, in the shallowest wild and as deep as it gets, killed people twenty combat levels above me and died to people twenty levels below. I've experienced pretty much everything there is to experience in the wilderness, so please don't doubt my pker credentials. I enjoy PKing, and this article was directed entirely at people who are making it less enjoyable for me. To me it's quite obvious that this has nothing to do with respect and everything to do with greed. The only reason the current honour system has lasted as long as it has is that the people who live and die with it north of Edgeville have found it profitable so far, and just can't deal with more realistic pking. Would you say wearing a fighter torso rather than a rune plate is a slap in the face? Do you really think people out to be going out of their way to give money to people who kill them? Seems you're the "pixel hungry" one here... Well, when you find the time to point them out, I'll happily knock those down for you. Hope the nice weather continues for you.
  9. Hi, I'm the guy who wrote this article. I'm glad most of you seem to like it. In response to a couple of comments... Yes, I don't use pures and so this article is from the perspective of a main, talking mostly about fights between mains (which is where most of the "honour" rules seem to crop up). I don't know about fighing from a pure's perspective, so this article doesn't deal with them. Sorry! :( I have 25m in the bank, but on the rare occasions that I go full-kit melee fighting I prefer to wear proselyte, partly for the prayer bonus but also just to annoy. I'm not too poor to avoid to die, I just don't see the point in spending three times as much money on marginally better defence bonuses. The best way of getting rich is not to waste money where you don't have to. I said that there are no rules. I'm not saying people should "do" anything, or telling anyone to play in any way. I'm simply that they shouldn't act surprised or get incensed when other people take advantage of the fact that the wilderness has no rules. Thanks for your comments! : LBO/Sausageman10.
