Why does everyone think governments are evil/out to get us?
Like most of the people you are talking about, I'm not worried that the government are evil, what I'm worried about is the way freedoms are lost. In the UK, we have had anti terrorist legislation brought in, on the obvious grounds of the terror threats from 9/11 etc. When they did so we were all assured these would just never be used for anything other than catching terrosists. The policians looked us in the eyes as though butter wouldnt melt in their mouths "Us? Use the terror legislation against our own citizens? Dont be silly, your just paranoid" And a few years later what do we find? An 87 year old man, a life long 'Labour' (one of our two main political parties) supporter ejected from a Labour conference for loudly disagreeing with what was said, under, you guessed it, the terror legislation, we have things like this... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1082225/March-dustbin-Stasi-Half-councils-use-anti-terror-laws-watch-people-putting-rubbish-wrong-day.html clear abuses of the power given to them. It's not that were paranoid, its that the people in power ARE abusing that power. They arent evil, they are just stupid and ignorant and do not realise what they are doing and the implications of it. They dont remember that the legislation came with provisos, they just see laws they are able to use and so they use them.

Could a Facist Democracy work?
We've never had a truly capitalist country just like there has never been a truly communist country. Blaming the credit crunch on capitalism is just idiocy. One of the main reasons it happened was the government making it easier for the poorer people to get credit that they really shouldn't have received, and that is not capitalism. Way to miss the point - If we've never had a truly communist country yet people feel free to say "Comunism doesn't work", its entirely reasonable to say "Capitalism doesnt work" despite the lack of a truly capitalist country. And as for blaming the credit crunch on capitalism, i think its actually reasonable, given it wouldn't have occured in other systems. I'm not at all convinced you are correct in your assessment of the reason behind the crunch, certainly it was bad credit decisions as you describe, but I'm not quite sure where you think the governments influence came in, I can't find anything online which might support that reasoning, but feel free to come back with more information for me. From what I can see the largest factor behind it was the inevitable bursting of the housing bubble, which is purely a capitalist problem, boom bust is one of the hallmarks of a capitalist society. However, this is pretty unrelated to what i was saying (although feel free to discuss it more), my point was that so many people always say that Communisms doesnt work, despite the fact that no system has the flexibility to deal with an organically evoled species of creatures with a society of the level of complexity of humans, and in that sense Capitalism doesnt work. Capitalism has major flaws in it right from the ground up, probably the largest of which being that a Capitalist system has by default a section of society which must be poor. No other system insists on such a section. Now thats a heck of a flaw.

An unanswerable question
Indeed Randox, just because we percieve time, doesnt mean that it exists, however, if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, you can be pretty sure, its probably a duck. I'm not being facetious here, just because the Universe is being perceived by us subjectively, does not mean we cannot or should not attempt to explore the universe around us and use rational reasoning to discover what elements exist and how they relate to each other. There's a lot of people who seem to debate in this thread along the lines that because it's perceived its not really true, but at that level that no difference from talking about whether the chair your sat on or your mug of tea really exists. I'm not even saying that that's not a worthwhile debate to have, but just pointing out that that it's nothing especially connected to Time as a concept. The regularity of nuclear decay for example, has, every time its been measured, has corresponded to other physical phenomena, such as the distance light travels, the rate at which objects fall under a gravitational field. When physicists look at the maths which connects these properties together a 4dimensional system is needed to keep track of the data, we know three of those dimensions are spacial, and the fourth corresponds sooo closely to the phenomena we have evolved to experience as time that I have to ask the most important question... GIVEN ALL YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE UNIVERSE, TOGETHER WITH THE SCIENTIFIC DATA ACCUMULATED... WHAT CAUSE HAVE YOU TO BELIEVE IT DOESN'T? (I'm actually looking for answers to that btw - I suspect the most common one to be, 'because I'm bored', which to me is a reasonable response)

An unanswerable question
Time is more related to entropy than light. It is the one physical process which is unidirectional (goes in one direction only). The third law of Thermodynamics states, in essence that "Entropy increases". This is the property which marks the direction of the arrow of Time. Interestingly, in Quantum Mechanics there is no rule which inhibits any reaction from working in either direction and the connection between Quantum Mechanics and the Thermodynamic Laws is currently unknown. So basically put - Time is known to exist and can be experimentally shown to be so, however the reasons behind it are currently unknown.

Could a Facist Democracy work?
I love the way people say "Comunism doesn't work" - Dudes, nothing works, take a look around at the credit crunch to see the fabulous way in which Capitalism fails. The point is we are intelligent beings and need to create a system on the fly containing elements of every type of system we can think of and be willing to change freely between modes of operation as the situation demands it. For example regards the energy crisis, global warming and third world poverty we could really use some socialistic and communistic tools, regards.

Banned Books
Thats not really a case of banning though, thats more about selecting titles for your library, a school library will of course not have room on it's shelves for every single book in existence, a librarian picks books which will suit the subjects needed by the library, and of course a school library probably doesnt have the Maquis de Sades books on its curriculum. Even so, libraries, even school ones, should be able to order any book for you, and if a child can explain in reasonable terms why they would want to read a particular book, they should, in general, be allowed to do so. Even if, for the above example, that child simply wants to see why the book is frowned upon, exanding our childrens knowledge is a good thing. Mind you, in that case, you could simply have the school librarian talk to both the child parents and their literacy teachers so that the child can be guided in their experience.

Banned Books
Personally I love it when people ban books, it tells me exactly which ones I need to be reading, and it also massively raises the sales of those books ensuring that the information get out there to people who might not otherwise read them and those Autors writing them gt paid enough to continue - please by all means continue trying to ban books.

If I'm gonna watch my characters butt all day id rather it was a womans butt i was watching than some dudes even if it is a CGI dude. Actually thats a complete lie, I have a male character, but I imagine that's how a lot of them think.

Looking for Beta Testers for new RS related program.
Just fixed a small bug, so you might want to go re download it. The bug was in the version info stored in the profiles which will prevent any updating of quests information and cause those profiles to crash the program when ever an update comes out. (Which given Defender of Varrock probably comes out next week would be a good reason to get the new copy) If you've saved a profile with the release version 0.4 you can correct the problem in those profiles by going to the profiles directory and opening any profiles saved in notepad and changing the first number to a 4 (If you are interested, we've had 4 quests released since I started programming this) and the second number to 0.4 (the version of the program). And then save it, should all be fine with those alterations, but please let me know if any further problems come up after this.

Looking for Beta Testers for new RS related program.
I'm sure it probably could be done, although I have absolutely no idea how I would go about doing it. I've had to have quite a bit of help from my husband to get the internet parts of it working. I think on the whole though I'd prefer not to do it, I'm happy with what I've got so far, plus I've kinda run out of space to add any more options to it. Once the help files are done, I do plan on offering it to the various fan sites on the net so I'd rather not tie it too closely to any particular site. But I'm glad you like the program and hope that you get some use out of it.

Looking for Beta Testers for new RS related program.
THankyou so much for your kind comments, glad to hear its working correctly, I always worry a little when each new version gets put up, in case I've done something silly and put it up in a non-working conidition, glad to hear that's not the case. Its written in Visual Basic, pretty much the only language I've ever found that I'm really happy with. Although so many people diss it, I find it surprisingly adaptable and capable of all I need, probably because I'm a mathematician at heart so a lot of the programming is done through maths, and also because I tend to focus on interfaces and design more than a lot of programmers which can really be done in any language. Do let me know any errors large or small that you find, the more you tell me, the more I can fix :) Happy Questing.

******************************************************************************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************************************************************************** ** ** **................................................ Version 0.4 Now Up ** ** ******************************************************************************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************************************************************************** This is now version 0.4 which brings you, at last, Show by and Hide by Questlines. It also adds the much requested Skill Boosts button which allows you to choose one of the twenty different items that can boost your skills to help you complete quests early. Let me know if I've missed any items out (as far as I'm ware the ones I've put in are the only ones capable of boosting you through quest requirements). I've also added icons for the number of Quest Points a quest gives, and Completed All/None buttons as requested and further, I've also added a Save on exit dialog box to help remind users if they haven't saved their profile before shutting the program down - something I really should have thought of earlier. I'm now happy with the majority of capabilities of the program so probably won't be adding anything else to it, with the exception of help files and context sensitive help - so please do continue to report any bugs to me, but please no more suggestions. As always the program can be downloaded from http://www.rsquestor.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

******************************************************************************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************************************************************************** ** ** **................................................ Version 0.3 Now Up ** ** ******************************************************************************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************************************************************************** This is now version 0.3 which fixes a few more errors, and adds the capability for me to correct errors in the data on the fly and have them download to you automatically when you use the update quest button. It also include the data for the new quest "Summer's End" and adds further Internet Links. You can now choose out of six different sites to get information from, Jagex's own, Tip It, RuneHQ, Rune Wiki, Zybex and Sal's Runescape Realm. These are accessed in the information box on each quest, two buttons either side of the quest requirements and rewards each now have a small arrow below them allowing you to assign any of the six websites to either of the buttons. The rewards page has had a small redesign. The rewards are now placed in columns allowing you to see more easily which quests have which type of rewards. And lastly, I have finally gone through the whole node view sorting out and organising the quests into a more coherent layout, untangling the nest of crossing wires, and introducing a default profile into the root directory. This may cause a few problems as I've yet to implement updates so that they update the default profile, but its easily solved by altering the basic profile and the copying the new profile ontop of it. http://www.rsquestor.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Some of the large scale changes in the nature of the data it is now using renders earlier version unable to update, so you will need to download the new version to get the data on Summer's End

fgfuyfyuiuy0 - no prob, someone did mention that earlier, but im unsure which quests require the levels and which can be potted/assisted past it. Which quest was it? Incidentally if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can find out which quests can be potted past please tell me, also feel free to mention quests you DO know you can pot past and I'll note that down. New version coming out soon :) S'looking good (You could always mark yourself as having the potted level of skill on the left, then itll not bother you about whether you cant complete the quest.)

Looking for Beta Testers for new RS related program.
Apologies for not having added the new quest yet, I've run across a logical problem in that if I update the data I now need a second update when the various websites I've added links for actually write their quest guides, so I kinda need to write the code to do that first. I'm also probably going to be too busy to do it today, but I'll get it done soon enough.

Looking for Beta Testers for new RS related program.
No seriously, that an entirely different program. There are already skill calculators out there. It's a very large job putting in all that data and were I to do it I would do in a completely separate program. I'm not saying it's not a good idea for a skill calculator, but thats not the function of the program I'm writing. There are also large questions involved such as who decides what counts as the best way of training a skill. So much of it is completely subjective that even the best and biggest sites like tip it only attempt to offer advice. There is a small chance I would consider adding a skill calculator to the quest calc, but only so far as to offer the number of a particular item made with a skill. Please people remember that I'm looking for Beta testing for the program I've written. I'm not looking to write another thousand lines of code to add extraneous function just because that's the program you would like to have written for you. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be offensive, I'm all up for people suggesting things which are very connected to the program, such as a button to mark all quests complete/no quests complete, or links to open up the quests guides of various websites, but the sort of stuff you are suggesting is descending into the territory of entirely separate programs which would turn this project into a behemoth, at the moment its already close to the limit of what it's capable of being.

All quest minimun reqs
Heres the info you wanted (I just happened to have it easily to hand) Agility : 60, Attack : 70, Construction : 50, Cooking : 70, Crafting : 66, Defence : 65 Farming : 53, Firemaking : 51, Fishing : 65, Fletching : 50, Herblore : 57, Hitpoints : 0 Hunter : 48, Magic : 66, Mining : 60, Prayer : 50, Ranging : 60, Runecrafting : 50 Slayer : 59, Smithing : 69, Strength : 60, Summoning : 19, Theiving : 63, Woodcutting : 72 Incindentally its worth remembering that the minimum levels required to get all quests is not the same as the minimum levels youll have after you've completed all the quests cos a few of the rewards tip you up an extra level :) Its also worth noting that those stats will only give you about 68 combat and youll need 85 combat to do smoking kills and dream mentor.

tintin113 >>>On the circle there are line going along... are the showing what quests have to be to start others or just quest storylines or what? Green lines show quests which needed to be completed in order to access the quest you are hovering over. Yellow lines show quests which have the quest your hovering over as a requirement. War_Junky_91 >>>I have done all the quests but i will download this just because it might come in useful when helping out my buddies with their quests and it looks cool. >>>And wow i just had a thought, this program has a lot of potential, if you keep adding things too it it could basically become a desktop tip.it with a bestiary and quest guides etc. I would love to see that AlexRose >>>That's what I was thinking, though on a lesser scale. You could add the items needed for all the quests, the condensed guides from tip.it (the full version might be a little too much), and even a bestiary of all the quest monsters. Now that I would download. : I have thought about adding a link into various website, but its a bit problematic. People have different favourite fansite and so I'd want to include all the good ones, and thats about seven or eight different sites. Each sites pages have a different system for naming their pages, for example tip.it's first quest in their list (Between a Rock) has the url http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2quest_id=71. There doesnt seem to be a logical way of generating the urls for any of the sites most people like. This implies having to go through each site and scrape the urls of and store them rather than generating them. In addition, different site favour different orders of the quests, some have A Souls Bane alphabetically firt, some have it after Smoking Kills. This just leads to a whole bunch of annoyance, so I've basically decided not to bother. Similar problems occur with the bestiary and the item database. However, I have scraped together the rewards from each quest and will be implementing it soon. I've split them up into seven different subjects, Minigames, Abilities, Transport, Resources, Areas, Cash & Items and hopefully will include them sometime soon. I am however have some difficulty finding some way of representing them in a useful fashion. As always its the interfaces which really make a program. >>>Even better idea (rambling for the win  ); make it so that the items are linked up the G.E (it's possible) and it'll tell you how much it'll cost for that quest, or quests for that matter. Hec, you could even add the three or four most cost effective training methods and put it into your guide. See how much money it'll cost to train that herblore level to 45. That would make it amazingly useful, and I would use it for everything. =D I'm not convinced that it would add a lot of the functionality, its kinda nice gimmick, but I dont think most people questing would really need that info. My husband also banging on at me to add in the Skill Calculator I wrote for myself ages ago but I'm just not convinced it needs it. On the positive side v0.2 is nearly ready, now with fabulous resizing. It's been a heck of a slog trying to get it programmed as there are quite a few elements which work together to reduce the size, the font size of the quest list now drops down and the labels for the skills disappear at low resolutions, I've also got it to display more quests when theres more space and less when there less, but getting them all to co-operate together its annoyingly tricky, but its kinda working now. I need to tuning it a little further so that the right things vanish in the right order. I'd also like to get it a little smoother, some of the graphics dont smoothly transit - I'll probably put it up before I get that one sorted though as it isnt at all necessary to its function. I still need to sort out the window scrollbars (I took them out while I was working on resizing) so that they appear when you go below a certain resolution. It it actually quite usable at 800x600 which was a bit of a shock, so I'll probably set them to activate at anything below that. And I also need to code them into being properly style scrollbars like the other ones I've made, instead of the nastly grey windows ones. Hopefully that should only take me till tomorrow morning. I'm in a programming frenzy at the moment. It's 9:15am and I've been programming constantly since about 8pm last night, fun fun fun....

Looking for Beta Testers for new RS related program.
Odd, first off look in your Questor directory to see if the file is actually there, and let me know if it is or idnt. Second, did you install in the standard directory or did you choose a different place to put it? Thirdly, did you do anything even slighty out of the ordinary? I have retried installing it myself, just in case id managed to forget to stick the file in the intsall routine, but I've had no difficulty at all. Obvious thing to try, uninstall it and reinstall to see if that makes any difference.

Well thats obviously a question no ones interested in answering :) I'll make another separate thread to look for an answer. Meanwhile I'll keep this one bumped so that anyone who finds any error has somewhere to post them. Equally you can report error to the e-mail address listed on the website.

Why do you have a main & what is good about a main ?
It's pretty obvious he means Why do people have a main and alternate accounts rather than just a single account? Read between the lines people. I have a main and alt accounts because Jagex Mod are rubbish and gave my main black marks for no good reason. I also occasionally start alts when I fancy reliving old quests, since you can't do quests more than once and some of them have some very interesting puzzles and fights, such as Eyes of Glouphrie, and Horror From the Deep. I switch bettween paying for my main and any particular alt. It's also nice to level up quickly copared to the huge slog my main now has to go through for every level. It's at least an afternoon work for a single on my main, but i can get 30-40 levels off a new account, and a good half dozen level in an afternoon on one of my more developed alts. Hope that helps.

Looking for Beta Testers for new RS related program.
Oooh, that'd be lovely if I'd inspired someone to quest :) I'd like to move on to one of the questions I had which I hoped the people testing it would give me their opinions on. Current the Show/Hide by Questlines buttons in the options have not been implemented. This is because I wanted to get everyone's opinions on what they should be. Here's the Questlines I've thought might be worth including in the list : * Desert Quests * Dwarf Quests * Vampire Quests * Pirate Quests * Elf Quests * Gnome Quests * Sea Slug Quests * Cave Goblin Quests * Troll Quests * Ogre Quests * White Knight Quests * Ghost Quests * Fairy Quests * King Arthur Quests * Jungle Quests * Cat Quests * Relleka/Lunar/Barbarian Quests First off, could you give me your opinions on which of those YOU think should be in the list. We might find when we actually look at what counts as part of the Questlines that there are either so few or that theres enough crossover with other Questlines that some of the categories can be ignored (I'm think of the Ghost ones here) Secondly, I'd like your opinions on what quests should be included in those questlines. Since the list is quite long I'd like to concentrate for the moment on the first five, so I'd like you to tell me which quests you think should belong to * Desert Quests * Dwarf Quests * Vampire Quests * Pirate Quests * Elf Quests and we'll move on to the others once we've done those.
