People have become set in the melee and binds only rules. It's familiar to them and they all know the strategies and tactics associated with it, bringing in blast or even range changes the game completely. It's simpler for clans to disallow it so they can be lazy and stick with what they know.

Clans that get easy fights will progress farther through sheer luck rather than any skill or ability.

It all depends on how many people were banned and it will have an effect especially when leaders do it. People do it because they're greedy.
