What do you do on airplane trips?
You should fly the same flight you're on. Just, you know, for fun. Been there, done that. You just can't fly the first part and the last part 'cause they make you turn off the electronics. :(

Flying
Nah, they just exaggerated. Most of the flight can be autopiloted. Landing and taking off isn't as difficult as it was in the past, either. Take-off and langing's pretty hard- As far as I know, there is'nt yet a plane that can take off/land with an autopilot. however, when it's gotten to around it's cruising altitute, the pilots can turn on autopilot and do whatever they want till its time for landing or there's something that needs to be done. the concorde went really fast (mach 2.2) because of secreal factors, one of them beng how aerodynamic itwas. modern civilian planes could easily go faster by making them more aerodynamic, also, but I wonder why peole don't do it... X-Plane has a free demo. As said earlier, there is a plane developed by Airbus that can land/takeoff without input from a pilot. Also, you'd be surprised how little pilots are actually flying the plane- it's usually about the first 2-5 mins and the last 3-5 mins, depending on the airport. The Concorde went fast because of it's engines mostly- they were many times more powerful than the ones on your general passenger plane. The engines also used many, many times more fuel than a normal engine. [/hide] 2 things. firstly, ty for the link. secondly, are you a living encyclopedia of alltings that fly? (feel free to siggeh...) If you see me that way, sure. But really, I just enjoy flight and therefore know some things about it...... just like others who know lots about things they enjoy.

Sarah Palin
According to the AP, Palin didn't have any hand in national defenses: :-# Interesting. Logically, though, I have to doubt that, as it is happening in her state...

Farmer looking after patch: should I compost it?
Yep, was planning on using supercompost anyways.

Farmer looking after patch: should I compost it?
Alright, thanks both.

Sarah Palin
So you're saying that no work goes into the system unless it's shooting missiles?
-
Sarah Palin
I'll then tell you that we are essentially the United States of America's first line of defence in the case of an incoming missile from any Asian country, including Russia and North Korea. Our system basically detects an incoming missile, determines where and from what station to shoot an intercepting missile, and then launches and hopefully destroys the enemy missile. It's not amazingly new technology, but it is, as I said, America's first line of defence from the West.

Farmer looking after patch: should I compost it?
Simple, will composting a patch that I'm having a farmer look after shorten the growing times? I've had some 30+ hour fruit trees and some Willows that have gone a couple hours over what I expected.

A picture of the issue or the screen resolution you use when you have the issue would be helpful.

Racing Games
Gran Turismo 4, by far the best racing sim/game I've ever played. Currently at about 97% of the game complete. I'm also the world record holder at Infineon Raceway, (stock car course) A real track that is situated in Napa Valley, California.

Thanks. :) Yup, slayer's nice. But it's more personal preference than anything, I probably wouldn't do it if I liked normal combat.

Flying
Get a flight sim and start learning. When I first met my instructor, he was doubtful too, but once I started talking flying stuff with him (navigation, radios, rules, etc.) I gained a lot of respect very quickly. You just have to show that you're serious and want to learn.

Flying
Planes are so sophisticated now days, they can land themselves. Cool eh? Lol, not true. There is no plane that can do the whole maneuver itself, including radio transmissions and making decisions only a pilot could make (such as is x cloud is safe to fly through). I do believe, however, that Airbus has been working on a Fly-by-wire system for quite some time now, and that will essentially preform a full ILS landing at a properly equipped airport.

Sarah Palin
Still, my point remains. Just because someone is in perfect health one day doesn't mean they won't be dead the next.

Sarah Palin
I actually think we are voting for both the 44th and the 45th presidents on the United States. If McCain wins(which I doubt) then there is a decent chance of him dying in office. If Obama wins, I hate to say it, but I just can't see him not getting shot before the end of one term. Our country as a whole is ready for a black President, but it doesn't take a nation to kill someone. It takes ONE white supremist to fire a gun. Although I don't see the chances of it happening as likely as you do, I do believe that the risk of losing a president is higher than it has been in some time. Someone earlier said that McCain won't die, he's in good health. I do believe Lincoln and Kennedy were in reasonable health at the time of their death...
