  1. Just a suggestion: Maybe it would be nice to add a quick chat response: "you are on a quick chat world please change worlds so we can talk normally" of course it could be phrased a little nicer...but I think you get the point. Or maybe disable the quick chat when talking to friends.
  2. Depends on the attitude you have in the game. If you want to max out the stats it can become very boring. If you just enjoy the game and look it as a little social event where you can meet your friends then f2p will never get boring even if you have 99 in all stats.
  3. =D> Very well written....looking forward to more of these!!!
  4. I guess he needs to pay a little attention to the details. The shelter idea could be applied in a team-based minigame. Where both teams can built a fortress in a certain amount of time that need to be captured by the other team. After that the teams agree on a item they play for. This means that every team need a number of that item equal to the number of players in the team. For instance a 4 on 4 battle with dragon b axe at stake means that every team has to place 4 dragon b axes in the shelter. This way every player in the winning team will get the reward. Maybe this is a way to avoid "in-world" mayhem.
  5. Thanks got it...should look before i ask...sorry
  6. What I meant is some pk want to keep the stats hidden before/during the fight so their opponent cannot look up whether they have a chance of winning...this is especially important to pure pk. For instance if you are a lvl40 with lvl60 mage...well, you would not like them to know that by quickly looking at the stats, you just want them dead before they know what hit them! And isn't adding to friend list only possible when they talk??? So, a swift and silent attack will take away this option. However, not with my suggestion
  7. Yeah....it is too much, thanks for the new title. For now I will use your suggestion for future describtion. I will try to expand on the possibilities to make it a full skill. I have the feeling it is still too limiting and I will browse through the creature database here on tip.it (thanks guys for having one!!)to see if i can come up with more animals. Also there should be some benefit included. Like i wrote in one of the previous messages. I think the breeding could a skill that will be included. The combination with hunting instead of buying will give an new source of income for fanatic hunters. However I need to think of what to do with the offspring. Maybe included some animals that you can use to make certain clothings, weapons or other nifty things you might need. So, make suggestions!! I am very busy at the moment but i am already thinking about making a more visual guide. So, how the areas look, the cages, the shopping screen etc. In the mean time: Bring on comments and suggestions to expand this idea, however keep in mind the feasibility. If you want Jagex to release a new skill it is smart to use as much of the available resources and not add too many items that have to be developed. This way it will be easy for them to implement.
  8. That ain't such a bad idea. Since I am f2p I don't have a clear view on the farming. I will read myself into that and come up with a more separate location for the skill. Including it in the POH is kind of limiting. Let me think this over....and thanks for the suggestion!!
  9. oops wrong forum....could you re-locate it for me?? Thanks
  10. Hi Tip.it crew, First of all great site i have been using this site for the last year and finally signed up for the forum...why, oh why did i wait so long. I don't know if this is the right place to post it....but, One suggestion...and there are many threads here so I could have overlooked it: Would it be possible to either make the top bar of "view your post" interactive, so when you click on for instance author it sorts them by name so you can find your own originally submitted threads? Or maybe add an option: only select authored messages? For me it is not really important yet, but I can imagine some of you will have a hard time following all the first author threads you have posted. These however need the most attention!! Just an idea to make tip.it a very little better then it is.
  11. Hi jcfc...congratz on the honorable title!!! There are many replies to your suggestion and I did not read all of them. But I love the interface lay-out....looks great and very user-friendly. What I would like to add: I am really careful reporting autoers. A lvl3 wc could be a dedicated person who has his chat off!! However when I don't get a reply i look up the stats, when it shows lvl65 wc and nothing else I look at their behavior...for instance when they wait a long time before starting and show a fixed pattern of walking. When I am certain this is a bot I report. Where I am getting at: One thing that could be added and correct me if this has been suggested already. An option where you can check the stats of the person directly...I know a lot pk will now explode since they carefully choose names that are hard to look up...but still, maybe you could find a way of doing this without affecting the wildly experience (for instance disabled in wildly).
  12. to make it more rewarding you should be able to breed some of the animals. This could add extra lvls. for instance: parrots and cockatoos can only be caught and not bought parrots breeding (you need to catch 2 at least): lvl47 cockatoo breeding lvl85 same could go for tropical fish now you can sell them!!!!!
  13. Hi looking forward to more details on you construction idea!!!! i submitted the animal care taking skill as suggestion, also started small but now it is much more detailed. animal care taking skill I added a link to your thread....so try to work on it because I think you might get even better ideas when you really start thinking about it.
  14. The preliminary setup was kind of small but since micbar asked me to put some thought into it and thereby providing more detail here is a more worked out idea of animal care taking skill: I think this might fly because most of the things described here are already available in the game and only need minor modifications, like color or size. Also there should be a limit on the number of pets kept....for instance 1 of each indoor option (A, B and C). To gain experience you have to take care of your animals and keep them alive!! A warning system like in farming could be applied here. When you have higher lvl construction you could have your servants take care of some of the tasks. For now only description and no pics. However you will see that for the most part I tried to make use of already existing animals and things!! The things behind the animal in brackets are required to get the animal (gp or else), to house it and to maintain it. Pet shop: 2 sales persons: 1. pets (indoors) 2. cattle and fish Besides the animals all needed attributes will be either available in this shop (like food for the animals) or need to be obtained elsewhere (bucket, water, milk) 1. The pets sales person sells: A. fish (indoors) Goldfish (25gp, need fish bowl + bucket of water + fish food) cold water fish (150gp, need small fish tank + 4 buckets of water + fish food) tropical fish (lvl1) (500gp, need medium fish tank + cabinet to place it on (filter) + 8 buckets of water + fish food) tropical fish (lvl2) (1000gp, need large fish tank + cabinet to place it on (filter) + 12 buckets of water + fish food + seaweed/waterplants) fish bowl can hold 1 fish small fish tank can hold 4 fish medium fish tank can hold 8 fish large fish tank can hold 12 fish Most of the fish are already available in the game after a color change (or for instance the rainbow fish could be used as tropical) lvl1 and lvl2 tropical fish is a size difference but lvl2 should give new types of fish to buy. fish bowls, fish tank or cabinet can be bought or crafted B. birds canary (50gp, small bird house and grain and water) zebra finches (100gp, small bird house, grain, sand, water) parakeet (150gp, medium bird house, 2 grain, water, sand and 1 stick inside the bird house) parrots (500gp, medium bird house, 2 grain, water, sand, 1 stick and mirror) cockatoos (sensored?) (2500gp, large bird house, 4 grain+berries, water, sand, 3 sticks, food dish, toy) Bird houses can be bought in the pet shop or maybe added to the smithing skill since it will be iron bars. Grain, water, berries, sand are easy to get. Mirror is also already available. Food dish (for instance a smaller form of the already available bowl) Toy (draynor village for toy horses for instance or maybe even an adapted lantarn...something like that) Sticks are basically arrows/axes/pickaxes without the head Maybe here you could make a part of the skill catching the birds in rs with a net (larger form of the fishing net)...maybe as part of hunting or just for animal care itself. C. others rabbit (100gp, small cage, lettuce) ferret (250gp, small cage, sand, water+milk (mix), meat) cat (500gp, medium cage, sand, milk, fish, external-that is outside the cage- food and water bowl) dog (1500gp, large cage, blanket(silk?), rope, water, meat, external food and water bowl) Cage can be bought in the pet shop and could be added to the crafting/smithing skill. Water, sand, rope, blanket, milk, meat fish and bowls are already in the game rabbit, ferret and cat are already in the game and need a little make-over dog could be adapted from the available fox. 2. The cattle and fish salesperson: Here it will need some adaptation of the garden. Things that should become available are fish pond, meadow and poultry house A. Fish Fish can either be bought or caught. In the last case bring a bucket of water and use your catch with the bucket so the fish won't die. When the fish are adult a fish spot will appear in your pond and for every fish bought you will be able to fish 25 of the fish you put in (good for maintaining your cat?) In one type of pond you can hold 2 spieces of fish simultaneously. Maximum of 4 fish of each type can be released in the pond. This means you can fish 100 of that type when they all grow up. shrimp (10gp or caught, small fish pond, 1xfish food/fish) sardine (50gp or caught, small fish pond, 1xfish food/fish) trout (100gp or caught, medium fish pond, 1xfish food/fish) salmon (150gp or caught, medium fish pond, 1xfish food/fish) tuna (200gp or caught, large fish pond, 1xfish food/fish) lobster (250gp or caught, large fish pond, 1xfish food/fish) I don't think other fish should be necessary and it is kind of weird to have your own swordies/sharks. Fish ponds need to be bought and/or implemented in the contruction skill You need to feed the fish when the warning comes up. I could imagine a menu pops up when you click on the pond showing how much fish food is used (like a %) B. cattle chickens (50gp, grain, water, poultry house...small can hold 3, medium can hold 5 and large can hold 10 chickens) pigs (150gp for piglets, and 500gp for adult, small meadow+fence...see note, grain+water=food in a trough) calf (500gp, small meadow+fence, 1 buckets of water in a trough/cow) cow (1500gp, medium meadow+fence, 2 buckets of water in a trough/cow) dairy cow (2500gp, large meadow+fence, 2 buckets of water in a trough/cow and 3 for the dairy cow) All animals are already available in the game. As part of construction you can build a meadow/poultry house. For pigs you need a small meadow and 10 buckets of water....(use the buckets of water to make a mud pool)...create a place like pigs next to draynor...2 pigs and 4piglets can be housed here. All meadows can hold 2 calfs. A medium meadow can hold 3 cows/calfs. A large meadow can hold 1 dairy cow and 4 cows/calfs and when you create a mudpool the size of a small meadow you loose 1 cow/calf but can have 2 pigs and 4 piglets in return. However you need a second trough with water+grain. Troughs can be crafted or bought (like the ones already used throughout rs) When you kill your chicken/cow/calf/pig for meat, bones, hides, feathers...well you have 10 respawns. 3. Skill table Like I wrote before, xp is gained by creating a place for the animals to stay and maintaining them, little like the farming i guess. I am f2p so I don't really no more then what is in the skill guides. The skill table is arbitrary but sort of logical...just like in life easy animals are easy to get: --maybe if you want 2 tropical fish you need a higher lvl-- lvl1 gold fish lvl1 shrimp lvl2 canary lvl5 sardine lvl7 chickens lvl10 cold water fish 1 (tetra's?) lvl12 rabbit lvl15 zebra finches lvl17 cold water fish 2 (blackskirts?) lvl18 pigs lvl20 trout lvl22 ferret lvl25 parakeet lvl30 tropical fish (lvl1) lvl32 calf lvl35 salmon lvl40 parrots lvl42 cow lvl45 tuna lvl50 dog lvl55 lobster lvl57 diary cow lvl60 tropical fish (lvl2) lvl75 cockatoos Of course i am open to any comment, expansion and especially feasibility of the suggested skill.
  15. Detailed description in next message!! A thread of smrf3131 ( taking contruction to the next lvl) made me think about a pet-shop. No not just to buy animals but to raise them!!! Wouldn't it be sweet that you could buy little fish, chickens or basically any animal creature of rs and take care of them in your POH? The built up could be like farming but now with animals. You can create for instance a fish pond (small for shrimp, medium for trout/salmon, large for lobster/tuna) in the back yard to grow your fish. I don't think sharks would be such a good idea, so i will leave that one out. A chicken coop (e.g. small poultry house, medium poultry house and large poultry house) for getting feathers etc. The size determines how many chickens you can have. An area to raise some cows and sheep for hides and wool. Again the size determines how many. Maybe some of you have other animals in mind to make it into a full skill, because it is kind of minimal right now. Other wise it could be an add-on on farming. Let me know what you think and how to extend the idea. Oh, If I missed a thread proposing this then i am terribly sorry and will give you full credit in my next comment!!!!!!!!!
  16. I think the idea is still a little rough and not very detailed in how to reach your plan. Furthermore you want to expand on a very new skill. However i like the idea (although I am f2p and will thus not benefit from it...but I don't really care and I think you p2p should even have more possibilities). Maybe you can up with details on how much wood is needed, lvl of construction needed etc. I don't really see the purpose of the shelter, so maybe you could give more details on that. Something you might want to add: Create your own fish-pond...to catch your lobs at home. Of course you start with shrimp and slowly go up....although shark in your back yard might be a little over the top. You could either buy young fish in the new (to be created) pet-store or maybe fish and put them in the pond and let them grow there. In the pet store you could also buy chickens and have them in a containment in your back yard...nice for your personal supply of feathers. (I might start a new topic on the pet shop) Good luck with your idea....I think if you work on it people might get interested.
  17. If f2p was eliminated the game would die along with jagex...it is not that f2p does not benefit jagex. If it would cost them money to keep f2p going it was gone a long time ago. So your last statement doesn't make sense...I would even go as far as to say that the huge number of updates and thus additional development (cost) of the game is for a major part paid by advertisement on the f2p and that p2p covers the cost for maintaining the servers and web space(or vise versa). But true if you pay you deserve to have everything the game has to offer. If you don't pay you should be happy you have the change to familiarize yourself with the game. But also if for some reason you are not able to pay you still can start/continue playing. I think in the previous posts it became quite clear that, at least I, understand that p2p should be treated as customers and thus get good play time (read extras etc) for the money. This discussion is about a little thing, not influencing the game or the behavior of f2p. And you have to admit, someone who wanted to become p2p will not cancel that idea because they get a stat-free recognition for reaching 99 in a skill.
  18. I think the basic idea is nice although the summoning part will get confusing especially in the wildly. I think there should be restriction on this part of the skill. But maybe you could add for instance summon shadow so you will be invisible on the radar for a short amount of time...just enough to pass these nasty pk gangs who are roaming the wild. So you can arrive savely at the rune mining spot. Or maybe doppelganger or clone...so you can pretend to be a group (also a radar tweak)...not on screen of course. Another funny trick with the radar could be reverse motion...if you cast the spell and your character is moving north the dot on the radar screen moves south. As you can see I really want to avoid fights in the wildly (lol). I like the teleport idea, using beacons to tele to. That is kind of cool and should not lead to a big mess...as long as they are not visible to other players after they are dropped. Then I would tele into the invent of another player...and be trapped forever...LMAO. I don't think Jagex will go for this idea but maybe some seperate suggestions might grow out to a completely new skill or some add-on to already existing skills. Keep up the ideas and post them even if they are a little weird!!
  19. Great suggestion...f2p does not need something fancy but a little acknowledgement for the achievement would be nice. In the end p2p should get the really nice extras...they are still the paying customers. Maybe for f2p a cape with the symbol of the achievement...like an axe for wc, a bow/arrow for range....etc without any additional stats (just like a normal cape)....that brings an idea to mind. maybe for p2p and f2p when you use the skill that has 99 an aura of light is around the tool you use. Or in case of cooking or firemaking for instance around the hands or head. Just a suggestion...this way both get something extra and f2p has still the privilege of wearing the cape.
  20. Completely true and in an earlier message addressed. Quote: The other remark of Limpbizkit however made me think....what about autoers? Should they deserve a cape...of course not!! So maybe a suggestion could be: in order to get a skill-cape in f2p you need at least 99 in two skills...or an x-number of skills need to be over 60 and 1 should be 99 to deserve it as f2p.
  21. I totally agree, mage need a little extra because the balance compared to melee and range is unfair. No not mystic robes etc. I think those should stay p2p (although it would be sweet...I am f2p myself). But maybe some stat boosting legs, gloves a/o cape. Boots are probably out of the question since no attack form gets them...eh correct since the barbarian village mini game (forgot the name)...there are boots for melee that boost stats a little. The argument that we get trimmed and gold is invalid....they just look pretty but don't change the stats. Bottom line: I support the idea but not upto a level of making p2p items f2p. Maybe some new items that will be available to both. good luck with the campaign komodoman!!!
  22. True the stats are far too high for f2p, i see your point. Maybe less stats should be connected to the cape when worn in a f2p world...that would not be too hard to program. I however don't agree with the payment argument. It is one object and it is related to achievement. This should be uncoupled from paying. I also don't agree with the fact that f2p should be removed from the game. Jagex will probably earn something from the adds and therefore will not stop it...whether it is more or less then that they earn from p2p is discussed in another thread. And that f2p is for ungreatful kits is complete BS...there are families out-there that can't affort to spend 5 dollars a month. And I don't mean poor people, but for instance countries where the currency is of low value...spending 5 dollars would be a significant percentage of the wages of the parents. So please think before you start accusing people. The other remark of Limpbizkit however made me think....what about autoers? Should they deserve a cape...of course not!! So maybe a suggestion could be: in order to get a skill-cape in f2p you need at least 99 in two skills...or an x-number of skills need to be over 60 and 1 should be 99 to deserve it as f2p. Well, I am sorry I missed the previous discussion....I am new to the forum and did not have the chance to go through all the threads.
  23. the last months a whole set of new items was released for the treasure trails, some new games/quests and 2 new skills. This was great for p2p...new things to get, to discover and to lvl. Besides this the skill capes (or capes of accomplishment) were also introduced. I don't understand why these should be p2p only...is getting 99 for someone in f2p not as big as an achievement (honestly, most skills it is even harder). Therefore I would like to see the capes of accomplisment of the matching f2p skill available f2p ppl. (Yeah, I know I should become p2p...) What do you think? is this unreasonable?
  24. when typing my name literally into google the dark side of the name popped up. (Of course besides the standard RS site and Tip.it hits) The name is linked to goth, vampires and wizards...sounds like me....lol The name is normally written with a space in between hekate and trivia but there is only a limited amount of space for a runescape name (12chars). HEKATE (or Hecate) was the goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She was considered the protector of women. Hekate (greek) and Trivia (roman) are the same triple goddess. In wiccan the triple goddess stand for Maiden, Mother, and Crone. The Maiden represents enchantment, inception, expansion, the female principle, the promise of new beginnings, birth, youth, excitement, and a carefree erotic aura. The Mother represents ripeness, fertility, fulfilment, stability, power and life. The Crone represents wisdom, repose, death, and compassion I like my name for the deeper meaning behind it. (end of lecture.....if you want more info then I will post lecture two the next time......)
  25. Hi Swampjedi, Thanks for the great article =D> !! You captured exactly what MMORPGs are all about. I am sorry to say, but the only problem is when helping people a lot of them just are "beggars". They need armor so you make one for free, next thing you see is them selling it at the nearest bank to another person whom, for whatever, reason needs is (like he/she just died!!). But i won't give up because of these few. When you are able to give a hand and it is really appreciated, that is a pretty sweet feeling. It makes up for every "advantage-taker" you might have encountered before. Keep up the right attitude and make the game fun for everyone, from beginner to die-hard RSer.
