  1. It's indeed a rather tiring way of shading. As such, I think it's a bit of a shame that the perspective of the salt shaker looks off (mostly noticeable on the top, which seems to show a bit to much for the perspective it was drawn from.) The shading on itself works, black and white as it is, with decent transitions of light to dark. I especially like the way no outlines were used here, while the form itself is still very clear. Other points of notice are the drop shadow's extreme darkness seeming a bit unfitting for the saltshaker. This is so, because the shadow on the saltshaker itself doesn't seem as drastic - and the drop shadow wraps around the object more than it ought to. You see this quite well up front. On the whole, 's quite nicely done, despite what I said. Awesome of you to try that technique, and may your wrists and markers rest in peace. ;) As to other posts in the thread with similiar pictures, outlines and transitions were far less smooth as that of the rushrock. yaff2's picture wasn't finished, so I'll restrain from commenting on that. As for skull3k3's, the transitions between dark and very light (Just the white really) are quite sudden. Basically.. there is no transition on these spots. Looks a bit distracting on the whole.
  2. I actually got a 10! 10/10 that is ^^ I'll see if I can make a picture sometime.
  3. Well, it is based on a rather vague assignment. That being 360 degrees. I can't tell how long it took actually, I worked on it over a period of three months. The first two weeks I drew and inked at random. Then I didn't do anything for two months, then I coloured it as it neared the deadline. It is not framed, but it is printed on foamcore. Looks quite cool I must say ^^
  4. He is from Runevillage. This is a repost from his post there. http://www.runevillage.net/ThePub/viewt ... p?t=403806
  5. First time I actually made an art project I am actually somewhat proud of. It's flawed (I did rush it a bit unfortunately :?), but I wish to share it anyway. It portrays an evolution in a random fantasy world. Although there's no different panels you can easily spot the timeline. Creation of the world - Man is introduced to the world - Man ruins world. Critiques are most welcome. The original -printed is about 150 cm wide, so this is quite small in comparison. Done with dip pen and ink, and then good ol' Photoshop ^^
  6. Ah, yes, I think I won. Anyway, nice work Rik. I'll pm to have this thread -bazoomZAPPED-
  7. I used to have a Wacom Penpartner, to see if I could actually use a tablet. Horribly tiny tablet, it led me to believe I was better off with a mouse the first weeks. Contrary to many other posters here I had a rough time to get used to my tablet. It was not until I forced myself to use just the tablet for some paintings (By literally hiding my mouse) that I got used to it. I now switched to a Wacom Intuos3 a5 tablet. It clogs up a lot of my deskspace but boy, I love it. Besides a bigger surface to draw on, much smoother and accurate movements it also comes with some other very nifty features. Digipainting is great with it, and I cringe everytime I think of having to go back to using just a mouse. Prices on these things are horrible though, and differ greatly from store to store (Online and traditional ones.)
  8. Mine is overdithered and to vague :(
  9. Bleh, didn't go to well.. Ah well, it was nice to do some pixelling after all that time. Looking forward to yours.
  10. I'm game. But just like Faelenor's you also gave the theme before the start of the contest.
  11. On another note. A free choice of topic in a speedcontest is kind of dodgy. Since anyone could make anything ahead of the start of the timer.
  12. I can try. Although I haven't made something pixel in.. um.. Two years? :-w
  13. I'd like to do 40 and 47, in addition to the two I've already done. As for the tentacle that crosses one of my previous squares, I'll try to adept it to Terley's across the intire length. I just based my one off the one posted previously by someone else, and edited on to that one. And I just noticed, who added the strange wall around the castle and on the border of my bridge? I don't recall having made that. Edit: Should I take 39 aswell, or would that be greedy? :-k
