well i was just wondering... i've always heard how smoking destroys your lungs, introduces toxic chemicals, gets you addicted, etc., but my friend chain smokes and he says that it's not as bad as advertising says.. well my question is if so many people in japan smoke (like 50% or something while i lived there) then why do they have the highest life expectancy in the world?

society has changed - for the better in my opinion. why have we regressed from the renaissance when nudity was not shunned? change is inevitable, and some people just can't accept it. (on a totally unrelated note, im a night elf (m) in wow and i can dance really well) :D

they probably can only talk, i doubt they could do anything else or they would make darth vader choke on a hairball or something :D

MMORPGs cut out a giant portion of the audience just with their genre. It doesn't appeal to a lot of people for many reasons. You're extremely wrong, and (for me anyway) have lost any respect I have for your opinion, since you sound 99.9% like a fanboy. i misspoke by saying fan base, what i meant to say was the number of players. definitely not a fan boy.. dont own the game but judging from the number of servers running at any given point (90+) i highly doubt that im wrong. (600,000 subscribers 6 weeks after game released, .002% of usa) any reason why you are so rude? :P

well yes what the us did to native americans was very wrong. but it is not our fault today. killing off a group of inferior people did not just happen in the us. im pretty sure it happened all around the world, in japan too when the samurai were killed off.

i think its called world of warcraft because its set in the world where warcraft 1,2, and 3 took place. so essentially it is the 'world' of the warcraft games :D

lol i would venture a guess that wow has the largest fan base of any game to date.

on the contrary stocks are very reliable long term, 10,000$ invested 10 years ago in 95% of big name american stocks would be worth far more, sometimes as much as 6000% today.

well i have a bunch of money now from my birthday and i want to expand my stock portfolio :D jw if anyone knew anything about good, reliable companies that are expected to grow in the future.

I dont exactly trust Morowitz in his claim about amino acids turning into proteins, but it has been proven that they can form protocells (not sure if they are made of proteins). assuming the big bang happened, the universe formed and earth did also. with only water and elements present on earth billions of years ago, amino acids can be formed, and they are the building blocks to life. from the amino acids protocells are proven to be able to be formed. while the protocells are not necessarily "alive" per se, they could easily evolve into the archaebacteria that live today in extreme conditions. the evolution 'theory' is almost universally accepted by everyone. it is very logical, and there is prevalent proof. it really is not a very large stretch and it is all very logical. on another non scientific note, many civilizations before us were religious such as the greeks, romans, and egyptians. roman society lasted some 600-800 years, far longer than modern society. our society has not existed for very long compared to others, and they believed in many religions that are extinct today. these religions explained the unexplainable, which we can now explain. just because we are not able to prove that the universe did not originate from a "god" does not mean we have to assume it was. i think it is fairly certain that societies in the future will have forgotten our religion, just as we have forgotten others in the past. oh and double_edged's arguments are garbage :? the earth has been proven to be billions of years old, they have tested rock so this is a fact... also 'if they take out time'?? what are you talking about thats like saying if you take out light from the world then we couldnt see... pointless because its impossible, time is constant. was the whole thing a joke im not catching on to..
