Yup, the mom is going insane due to the stress. And say, how do you know that? She could be trying to be optimistic in a very dark situation. So if you were the baby, you would be unplugged? I believe anencephalic newborns do not have brains, meaning they do not have any of the functions that require a brain. Man, most of these people act like they would do anything just to keep the mom from being happy.

But she doesn't know! She thinks that the baby knows who her mother is and responds to her, these are just reflex actions which babies have for the first 6 months of their lives, and she's also convinced herself that God will perform a miracle, which let's face it...it isn't going to happen. She hasn't fully grasped the fact that because her only child has little or no brain, it can never love her and never realise who her mother is. My mistake. Still, its good to hear she is at least trying to care for the baby.

Sooner or later--later if we do nothing--she'll realise that something is wrong with her baby. And then her baby will die. And that will destroy her. And the longer she goes on believing she is looking after a healthy, happy baby girl, the more painful it will be when she realises the truth. The mom knows she is caring for a baby with no brain. I think she's aware that her baby will die in a couple months. No matter what, the mother is going to feel grief, but it would much worse for the mother emotionally if someone knifes the baby. At least she's being optimistic in a sad case like her baby. You have to give her credit for that.

Exactly. You are aware that when I mean someone, I also mean a few elderly people that need medical support to live a bit longer. I think the Third Reich is calling you for duty. Why should the elderly spend society's money (yes, society's money: medicare, social security, etc.) to live longer? Those resources could be better spent to help potentially productive members of society. Wow, isn't that great? Todays generation doesn't want to help the elderly. Uhh, she isn't "letting it live" she's forcing it to live because she can't take the stress of losing a child, and keeping the hellspawn is a pathetic manifestation of the mother's denial. Even though the baby is going to die, its one of the mother's joy to care for the child. She's paying for the baby, whats the problem with that exactly? Like I said, whats the point of killing the baby if its going to die? Killing it would only cause emotional damage to the mother. Like many people said, the baby is a symbol of joy for the mother and close friends/relatives. Let them enjoy it while they can instead of recommending the baby to be put down. It won't talk or walk. It can't even move its limbs on purpose. It isn't aware and it doesn't have emotions. It's not aware of its environment. All of the characteristics that make a human human are missing. This child is dead and keeping it "alive" is downright idiotic. On the other hand, killing it would be wrong. To be a "person" one needs to have individuality, which requires higher brain function. Everyone is an organism, and almost all humans are also self-aware individuals as well. This baby is an organism too, but it is not a "person", it's a human shaped (almost) mass of unintelligent flesh and bone with a metabolism, nothing more. I disagree. Even though the only thing the baby has is a brain stem, she is still a person with extremely limited capabilities. She has zero capabilities. She can move, breath, and eat. Thats about it.

Listen to this very carefully: THE MOM IS PAYING THE MEDICAL BILLS FOR HER BABY! WE ARE NOT PAYING FOR HER BABY. Judging by what you are assuming, we should kill people that are about to die anyway. While we're killing babies with no brains, lets go pay a visit and pull the plug on that 104-year old lady thats gonna die in a couple weeks. I think they're "wasting" our money as well. Real quick, there's this cancer victim thats about to die, lets go put that person to sleep. Yup, we're really wasting resources on people that are about to die. (Or being stubborn, depending on how you want to look at it) So you basically want to execute her for a "crime against society", which she has had absolutely no effect in? There are many people who have had much, much more negative effects on this world, yet they are still alive. Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Not to mention she does actually have some positive influence. She makes her mother happy. Her happy mother probably makes other people happy. Killing the "baby" would barely lessen its negative influence (which I admit exists), and perhaps even increase it. I don't even get why this is up for debate. It's obvious that you'd kill it if you were in her situation, and I probably would too - But we aren't in that situation. This woman is, this is what she's doing, and the choice is hers and hers only. The baby is a waste of resources that could be going to something or somebody that needs it more. The mother is fairly deranged as far as I can see "Can't wait to go for a stroll with faith" even though it cannot hear, talk, feel, think or even realise it exists. I don't think this has to do with faith as much as you are saying. I think seeing her baby gives the mother joy, even though the baby is going to die in a couple months.
