That the goblin mail I had been wearing up til about level 20 is not, i repeat, NOT in the slightest bit cool. And that paying 5k for a chefs hat just to enter the cooking guild is probably not worth it.

My full addy (g) was my most treasured possession ever...there were others before that of course (my goblin mail was pretty special to me for quite some time) Back to the addy...I bought it about 3 days after I became a member, and was training on hill giants when a scary looking level 90 (or so) player came up to me and said they wanted to buy it I looked at their offer...I wasn't sure what it was, but they said it was very rare indeed and they were giving me an amazing offer Reluctantly I accepted, looked the item up, and was gobsmacked... And that was how I came to own a whip, back in the days when it cost 4.2m, at the ripe old combat level of 43. :shock:

It's sad that the article puts the same amount of blame on both the autoers and skill cape hunters =[. It is harsh to lower 99-ers to an autoers level. I got my first cape, in fishing, yesterday, and I am very proud that I have got it. It's very sad in my opinion that people like me are thought of as the problem. Fishing is a skill where you can't buy your way to 99, it is dedication that gets you there. Maybe the skill capes did have a detrimental effect, but surely that is the fault of Jagex, not the players who spend so long getting 99?

A very nicely put article. I would, however, like to make a comment regarding the credit cards. You mentioned in the article, and several people have mentioned here, that players would have to wait til the age of 18 to pay by the quickest method: credit cards. Can I just say that I am 16, and pay with my debit card, which is as cheap and easy as paying with credit cards. Any debit cards can be used, I believe, which means that with some banks anyone from the age of 12/13 can pay by card. Whether this is a wise move or not is another matter...but I was jut pointing it out :
