  1. Sure, if it's being done by some sort of "company" that uses the planks to get coins then sell the RS currency for REAL cash... $5 isn't that bad a loss if you can make at least ten times that before the character is banned...
  2. Oh yeah, did any of the posters on this thread read that other thread that had a link to an article about "gold farms?" The basis was that a "company" gathers a bunch of computers and cheap labor then runs auto bots all day while the cheap labor randomly checks in on them to make sure they're still running. They then sell the resources they've gathered for in-game gold and then sell the in-game gold for real-life cash. See how large RS has become? It most definately has attracted the attention of such people. They make their own bots if they can't find any that does what they need to be done. Just because some wazoos in a cheat community don't have completely automated character makers doesn't mean that someone who runs LOTS of automated characters doesn't.
  3. Trust me, there is. Dude they would have to come up whit a new name evry time... i know people just make the acount and then maybe let it macro tutorials island but i am SURE a new name evrytime ? you cant do that and btw i have bin in such a 'community' and i know theres only stuff to train skills i once saw it to finish tutorial island but i KNOW that the name is made THEMSELVES and spin emote = auto clicker.... you don't know annything... Have you seen the autoer's names? Junk like "Iio0ll240?" All you would need is something to auto type in random names or to type in names in a sequence(like the next one would be "Iio0ll241" for example. Very rudimentary progamming... Any programming newb knows how to make a counter, and a more skilled one whould know how to make an auto-typer... if you know how to make an auto bot, I'm certain you'd know how to make the above.
  4. I was not aware of this, but it's more or less a common sense thing now that I think about it. But it doesn't seem any better than clicking the browser's refresh button or hitting F5(if in Internet Explorer).
  5. True. But you're still spending probably another hour fishing it... Flour isn't too terribly difficult to get, but it was nice to have 50 flour in the chest. It was part of what made Recipie for Disaster one of the quests with the best rewards: The ability to make easy higher level pies and pizzas. Y'know, make it easier to do so people will actually WANT to make them? Instead of just sticking to Shark.... But meh. At least I still have a somewhat hefty stock of flour left to use. :)
  6. I think this is quite sad. Sadder yet, is knowing that if something could be done to stop this those people "working in the sweatshops" would be forced either into extreme poverty or forced into another sweatshop that's an actual sweatshop. The auto sweatshops are probably air-conditioned because the computers need to keep cool... plus, what's harder? Sitting on one's rear clicking, or doing physical labour...? Someone made a statment about finding it hard to beleive autoers are people and not autoers. The way I understand the article, the autoers do the work and the people monitor them and react if they notice something wrong. So a single person might be watching something like ten computers that are actually doing the "work" on the game. I do beleive that something needs to be done about such things, but it is not within the ability of JaGeX or any other MMORPG-producing company to stop. Whatever measures are put in place, someone will find a way around it. So then the only way to prevent it is to shut down the game itself... There can be a whole slew of changes, but they're only temporary band-aids. Even if it was theoretically possible to stop autoing... These "sweatshop" workers could just instead be forced to actually "play" the game and then sell their profits...
  7. Realism is overrated... Especialy in a game like RuneScape. The characters are cariacatures(sp?) of human beings. You look down upon your own character, and see nothing but a few random objects through your character's eyes. How realistic is that? Not at all. Want realism? Go find a game that has first-person perspective in it. Go find a game where you ARE the character, not some detatched being clicking on stuff and watching the character go somewhere. [DANCE, PUPPETS, DANCE!!!] I think it's fine as it is. As long as they don't start putting in junk like "Shark-mounted Anti-Dragon LaZeRZ of Death" in the game, I'm fine with it. If I wanted reality, I would choose to walk around outside. I have enough reality as it is, I think the way RS is fits its somewhat amusing absurd personality it typically has.
  8. The bank in Edgeville isn't very far away from the edgeville canoe station, is it?
  9. Two things. One: You should go do Priest In Peril and any other quest you need to do to get into Morytania. Then venture into Mort'ton. There are several shades, and you get prayer exp and colored metal keys for burning the various corpses. However, you need to have done at least part of Shades of Mort'ton quest to burn them. Loar shades hang around outside the tomb, higher lvl shades requiring higher level pyrelogs to burn hang around inside the nearby tomb which can be opened by any metal colored key(such as bronze key red). There are chests inside the tomb that can be opened by these keys as well, that have various prizes inside them. Two: If you've done Mourning's Ends part 2, you will notice lvl 74 shades like to lurk inside the elven light temple...
  10. ...I am unsure of the remains being sold. I doubt they will be, at least as a viable trade. There are other ways of training prayer that require less resources. A handful of players might buy them, but I doubt this will ever become much of a market. But I do however beleive there will be more shade hunters trying their hands at the shades minigame.
  11. I only glazed over the first page of this post, so sorry if I'm repeating something already said. I'm lazy tonight. I think that this would be a good idea for publicity, but I do not think that this should be invoked for real money. I suggest that instead of real life money that Jagex gives coins or new rare items to each member of the winning clan. If they actually add in clan or guild support (beyond those silly team capes) and the guild has a seperate bank account from all members then maybe give the clan/guild itself some money too. This would greatly increase the pleasure of many PKers and PKing clans.
  12. That was a rather rude and unwarrented response. But hey, maybe you should be grateful that he stated a reason for calling you a noob. About a year ago I was called noob by someone 20 combat lvls lower than I was while searching for a drawer for a clue scroll. Then the person promptyly left. Never figured out why someone would waste time to follow me into an empty building just to call me a noob...
  13. That would be risky and difficult to find out, since it is nontradable and not sellable to the store. But it would be good to know what items you keep before the cape if you die. Anyone know, because I too am curious about that.
  14. Good idea! Someone should also send one to Bill Teach. I want that reddish overcoat he wears. That would match well with a Red Cavalier. :P That and the dark black overcoat and pants worn by Brian O'Richard in the Rouge's Den area are pieces of clothing I've wanted ever since I first saw them...
  15. Yes. Real life and Cyberspace are two totally different mediums. Those who socialize in cyberspace may learn a little about socializing, but there is so very much you miss out on. Online, you cannot hear tones of voice, you cannot see body language. All you see are words on a screen, without seeing a real person behind them. This may be liberating, but you have very little clue as to what the person on the other side of the screen is thinking and feeling besides what you read them typing. You miss out on the changes in tone of voice that marks the difference between factual statements and sarcasm. You miss out on questioning tones. You miss out on all the nonverbal cues of someone's true thoughts, like body position, hand gestures, and eye contact that can really give a person away. Not only that, but if you socialize in cyberspace instead of real life, you will have a much more difficult time of real-life interaction. You won't have really good speaking ability. You won't be able to pick up on certain clues that others can. You might have a more difficult time hiding certain things because you aren't aware of the cues you give off. Not only that, but you can take two people, have one say something to the other, and have totally different reactions to the same exact thing depending upon if it's online or offline. For example, if you follow someone in RS asking for money or info, they'll usually just get ticked off. Follow someone in real life, they'll normally get creeped out and quite possibly call the cops. Tell a girl something crude online, and she will most likely laugh it off as some idiot being stupid and pay it no further mind. Say something crude to the same girl in real life, and you'll more than likely be visited by the cops again. Just because you're "talking" to people online, and making new friends in a virtual landscape, doesn't mean you're truly socializing. You have nothing to judge most of these people by except words you see on a screen, words that you have no other clue to tell if they're the truth or a lie except the words themselves. Again, I repeat: "Socializing" online is nothing at all compared to socializing in real life. I tend to mispronounce things in real life because I don't talk enough. I know how to pronounce them correctly, I just trip over my words occasionally. I don't know how to hold myself properly(I mean posture-wise) nor do I know how to read many nonverbal signals I see at the time I see them. It usually hits me after the event is over that a certain pose or so was made and it meant something I completely missed. That's because I spent too much time online and not enough time in the real world. Don't mess up like I did, kid. Be grateful your parents are trying to get you to socialize with real people you can see and touch and hear face to face.
