  1. Yeah, I don't get what's with the ponies, they're all over FJ too, even NSFW. And after the link Wyvren posted on Space, I realized MLP isn't even worth the effort of clicking a link.
  2. You talking to Nex? Cuz that's a frame from Drowtales as you can see from the lack of proper cropping.
  3. The second was already a problem (Lucien Alliance attacking), Rush made it worse (dialing Destiny instead of Earth). The third was always a problem to access (the one to access it always dies), they didn't solve it but they worked themselves halfway around the problem (using a buffer to slow down the connection to a billionth of its intended speed). The fourth was a problem right away (unstable wormhole), though there are only two possible reasons for the problem (improbable; unstable power supply, probable; wormhole loops through solar flare and back to the past).
  4. I'm not saying it... whatever saying god did it would be... I'm saying the first one isn't a plot device since the plot hadn't begun yet, the rest didn't happen that way or those weren't the circumstances.
  5. Point to your evidence in the first 13 shows. The ship stopped within reach of planets which had what they needed (yes, that is the Destiny's doing, not "coincidence"). In other words...when they identify the format isn't working... It is caused by events, it doesn't happen suddenly. A deus ex machina is a plot device whereby a seemingly inextricable problem is suddenly and abruptly solved/created with the contrived and unexpected intervention of some new event, character, ability, or object. It is not a deus ex machina when. 1 The plot starts at that event. 2 The problem is furthered, not solved or created. 3 The solution is more complex than the problem, which was never created and never fully solved. 4 When the problem is solved through a lot of work and the use of a known effect.
  6. Sounds like the quality of the show decreased. =P There's barely any of the old technology in use, and the only two examples of old technology has gotten new rules because one is a prototype, the other is an adaption. They found that teenager by putting the question in a game and that is a driving force behind some of the character development in Season 2. They were supposed to go back to Earth, Rush however decided to dial Destiny instead. Changes in the very beginning of Season 2 The ship is older than the ATA gene, the chair is a database, all except one of which are known to slowly kill people because their brains can't fit all the information. Virus is not from the insects, temporal anomaly was the reason they got stuck on the planet in the first place. Wrong. They always have some chance, but even then a few deaths are to be expected.
  7. Stargate being put on a 3 year hold/shut down has nothing to do with the quality of the show, what happened was that MGM had too many economical problems and in their effort to attract a wider audience, took to much out of Universe, making many of the old fans lose interest while it failed to bring in the expected number of new ones. This caused the producer to give up hope, as such the two planned movies were scrapped as well.
  8. If you'd just continue to watch you'd see that there is a reason for all the systems that are nominal, and character development happens mostly in the last half of Season 1 and in Season 2.
  9. The shift has been going around for millions of years with no one on board, the ship had no trouble on its own, but then they come in and it has to activate lifesupport and whatnot. And Sheppard from SGA supposedly got into MENSA, he just likes playing stupid. O'Neil might not be too bright, but he's mostly playing. And in SGU they're mostly just people who were at the wrong place at the wrong time, but Young is smart enough to understand what only Rush can do and is capable of understanding some of Rush's "technobabble." Ronald Greer and Matthew Scott however are supposed to be like that, Matthew is mostly just moral for the military side, Greer follows orders no matter what he thinks.
  10. That's what almost every single one of the military personnel wants to do, but he's the only one who even has a remote chance of getting anything up and running.
  11. Yes, Nicholas Rush doesn't care who holds the guns, he knows they need him that's why he does whatever he wants. Stargate Universe, unlike Atlantis is actually intended for new viewers, only the stargates are left working even remotely as they were previously. If you were waiting for the trouble to settle, then you didn't get the point, they never get a break.
  12. It is pretty clear that Everret Young is in charge, however as on any other ship, the only thing that makes other people follow him is the force at his disposal. The entire series is a fight to survive, however at the season final the problems change from being ship-related to becoming man-related.
  13. Well, things do actually progress like that, everything you said there happens at some point, at first they just have to worry about how the ship they're on has basically no resources. If you're stranded on a deserted island together with some people you hate, you don't start competing until you know you can survive.
  14. Yes, but if you were a teacher you'd have to punish them if one of the kids started threatening another with a lemon.
  15. Stargate has a consistent story, it's about learning and doing the morally right thing. And lots of character flaws and few redeeming features, isn't that more realistic, barely anyone today (or ever) weigh up their flaws by far.
  16. Actually watching what I think is the newest whole season, the actor for The Doctor is the one whose face looks like a half-molten mask. Low budget doesn't automatically mean poor effects, almost the entire Stargate Universe was made while MGM were facing severe economical issues, I think they were close to bankruptcy, and it has top-notch effects. EDIT: Yeah, Season 5, 2005.
  17. I see how some episodes have a slight moral point and that certain parts of it are supposed to be humorous, such as the Daleks, however their exessively long breaks when they're speaking ruins what little humor there is in their design. All in all, alll plots except the main plot of the season seem to be flipped around too much to really care about and The Doctor's humor is only funny the first episode, after that everything just gets too much with too little to keep your interest.
  18. Tried watching some Doctor Who, it's worse than expected in terms of... well, terms... and the effects are mediocre at best, can't see what all the fuzz is about.
  19. I believe you are looking at the wrong numbers, try checking the tours instead.
  20. Kiss has more fans than any of the bands/artists you listed. Leather pants were "obligatory" in Rock'n Roll. Spitting fake blood is his version of breaking the guitar. Makeup was originally so no one could recognize them (see: Slipknot's masks). His tongue is real.
  21. Rocco, that's called a chorus. Although it does indeed take up most of that particular song. [hide='I wanna Rock and Roll all night] You show us everything you've got. You keep on dancing and the leading gets hot. You drive us wild, we'll drive you crazy. You say you wanna go for a spin. The party's just begun, we'll let you in. You drive us wild we'll drive you crazy. You keep on shouting, you keep on shouting: [chorus]"I wanna rock and roll all night, and party every day. I wanna rock and roll all night, and party every day." [/chorus] You keep on saying you'll be mine for a while. You're looking fancy and I like your style. You drive us wild we'll drive you crazy. You show us everything you've got. Baby, baby, that's quite a lot. And you drive us wild, we'll drive you crazy. You keep on shouting, you keep on shouting: [chorus] [chorus] [chorus] [chorus] [chorus] [/hide] It's a lot of repetition, but you can see that compared to some of today's music, that's still a lot of variation. It is also their only song with such excessive use of the chorus. An other example of their songs would be Detroit Rock City. [hide='Detroit Rock City] I feel up tight on a Saturday night. Nine o'clock and the radio's the only light. I hear my song and it pulls me through. It comes on so strong, tells me what I got to do. I got to... [chorus]Get up, everybody's gotta move their feet. Get down, everybody's gonna leave their seat.[/chorus] You gotta lose your mind in Detroit, rock city. [chorus] Getting late, I just can't wait. Ten o'clock and I know I gotta hit the road. First I drink, then I smoke. Start the car, and I try to make the midnight show. [chorus] Moving fast down 95. Hit top speed but I'm still moving much too slow. I feel so good, I'm so alive. Hear my song playing on the radio. It goes... [chorus] There's a truck ahead, lights staring at my eyes. Oh my god, no time to turn. I gotta laugh, 'cause I know I'm gonna die. Why? [chorus] [chorus] [/hide] Also, do you have any idea how many women that still worship Gene as a sex idol? Retech, an people listen to opera for their stories, which are told as much by the presentation of the lyrics as the words themselves.
  22. I don't even see how you can call them songs, a song is a lyric with a melody and tones. If there are no lyrics then there's either music or silence. If there is no melody then it's a speech. If there are no tones then it's a poem. Music may not need lyrics, but songs do.
  23. There's a reason why Kiss has been popular for decades. Though I could just as well have used Mötorhead. And I am not part of the Bieber generation, not what can be called that here at least, I was lucky enough to miss that by two years so even the girls of my generation realize how much he sucks. All those that listen to music not inspired by Techno and/or Classical agree, a song needs lyrics. Every single one from those that enjoy Pop and Hip hop, Rock ballads and Opera to Death and Black metal agree, a song needs lyrics. All else is just scenic.
  24. Ok, that I can't enjoy.
  25. I actually enjoyed that.
