  4. I don't think they'll pull the plug on XP too soon, iirc more people use XP than Vista and Win7 combined.

Just downloaded the game, but I haven't installed it yet. I have a few questions first. 1. How do I download a texture pack, and what is the best one? 2. Where do I get this Newb Pack helper? 3. Are there any tutorials or guides for this game?
  6. Due to budget constraints, the two cannons planned for the Army of Mexico have been canceled. Instead, 5 cannons from the Army of Madrid have been transferred. Already been done. Size may have been overstated, but the number of guns (112-116) is the same as the historical Spanish Flagship from the era.
  7. Hey Retech, how about those 5% interest rate loans you were offering?
  8. Double post is posted twice.
  9. Don't i7 Mobo's run RAM in triple channel? You may be better off buying a set of 3 sticks. EDIT - Never mind, it appears your motherboard is set up for dual channel.
  10. Power supply is... er... :wall: The list did seem short for some reason. Although he may find a case that comes with a small PSU built in. That is 4gb of ram, Its 2 sets of 2x1gb sticks. If you can afford it, go for the 250 GTS, If not, take the $50 you save on the other card and buy a PSU. You wont need anything more that 500w
  11. I figured it would be easier to talk her into it if it came as a set. I thought it was a reasonable deal for an i7 build. I plan to use it for Photoshop and gaming on max settings, so I'm not sure if the GPUs are strong enough. Every time I try to plan my own computer, I end up over $2000. My budget is $1600 before tax/shipping.
  12. What about the email your ISP offers?
  13. Newegg bundle Ive been looking to get a new computer for a couple years now. I had originally planned to build the computer, but my source of funding (aka mother) didn't like the idea. Today I was on Newegg.ca and saw this bundle for under $1400, which appears to be better than the $1700 computers from Future Shop and Best Buy. It would give me experience in putting together a computer, without the worry of the parts not matching. The only thing that seemed questionable is the 650w PSU, but that can always be cheaply replaced in the future. Any feedback/opinions? Current Build [hide=Newegg.ca]Windows 7 OEM - 99.99 EVGA Superclocked GTX 460 1GB - 239.99 LG DVD Burner - 19.99 Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower - 139.99 Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R LGA1366 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Motherboard - 229.99 Intel Core i7 930 - 299.96 Cooler Master 850w Modular PSU - 159.99 OCZ 3x 2gb DDR3 1600 RAM - 169.99 WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64mb Cache 7200 RPM HDD - 99.99 Really Freaking Huge Cooler Master CPU Heatsink/Fan - 69.99 $120 Combo Discount [/hide]
  14. Fixed the problem, one of the slots that contained a dummy RAM stick had a loose clasp, causing the computer to not read the RAM for some reason. Thanks for the help, especially dsavi for pointing out that the beeping MoBo meant something.
  15. All prices are Canadian. My linkAMD Athlon II X2 255 Regor 3.1GHz - 69.99 BIOSTAR A770E ATX AMD Motherboard - 69.99 Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) x 2 - $98.98 MSI N250GTS TwinFrozr 1G OC GeForce GTS 250 - $159.99 Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 1TB HD - $79.99 Comes out to 478.94, not including case, OS or DVD Drive. Any ATX size case should work for this build. Look for one with front USB ports, as the MoBo only comes with 4. For the disk drive, you can just loot one from your current computer, or buy one (DVD burners are only $30) I assume you already have XP, otherwise that will set you back a bit. This build Should give you some good gaming power without breaking your wallet. AMD CPUs aren't my favourite, but they are good for cheaper builds. The motherboard has lots of room for expansion cards (Sound, USB, etc...), but can only fit one Graphics card, so you wont be able to use SLI linking. Kingston is a reliable brand for RAM, and XP can only take 4gb (unless you somehow came upon the 64 bit version). The graphics card gives good power for the price, and should allow you to run near-every game on at least low settings. The hard drive is 7200 rpm, so it will give you good speed and near unlimited storage with 1TB of space. With the case, this computer will be under $550 (Before tax/shipping). Only way to go cheaper is to get a smaller HD or wait for sales (Newegg is the best priced online store IMO, but amazon.ca might have some better deals.
  16. The second Spanish budget Budget: 20,800,000 4m goes into keeping up in all tech areas. Army - Army of Madrid (New General) 10,260 line infantry 2,000 fusiliers + 1,000 grenadiers 3,000 hussars + 1,000 Skirmishers 20 cannons New unit costs - 2.7m Army of Mexico (General Mendez - Winter Specialist) 5,000 line infantry + 1,000 Grenadiers + 1,000 Skirmishers + 2,000 Fusiliers 1,000 Cuirassiers +2,000 Hussars +2 cannons New unit costs - 11.1m Army spending totals - 13.9m Subtotal - 17.9m Navy Royal Spanish Navy (New admiral) Barco de Dios (Ship of God) - This new ship, the pride of the Spanish navy, has over 100 guns and is significantly larger than a heavy ship of the line. All ships in the navy receive orders from this ship, which is easily identifiable by it's size and elegant design. 11 Heavy Ships of the line 10 Frigates Navy Cost - 2.6m Total - 20.5m Remaining .3m
  17. Assuming you have the screen and a copy of XP, you could easily build something that will play new games on at least low setting, and RS perfectly. Do you have any preferences between Intel/AMD or Nvidia/Ati? EDIT - Im not quite sure if you plan to gut your current case and rebuild inside it (Probably a bad Idea - prebuilt comp. cases are made to perfectly fit the parts that they come with) or get a new case.
  18. Hopefully I'll be able to post a full update tonight. Hint - übër w0rship

  20. ICU needs to play Oregon Trail.
  21. I won't be playing this, seeing as my computer is dead and it's a pain in the ass to post on an iPod touch.
  22. I really want to try this game now. Damn you suicidal RAM.
  23. Contacts are the metal parts on the RAM stick, right? I'll try that in the morning.
