Cavefish fishing
Awesome! Thanks for the info. Guess I need to sharpen my pickaxe and then go make friends with some of those rocky fellows. That'll of course be after I get a few more fishing levels :P

Cavefish fishing
So I'm training fishing with monkfish and am 81 at the moment. I was wondering what's a good level to begin fishing cavefish. I'd try it as soon as I hit 85 but if I wait a few levels would it be faster? Also, I should probably use an Ibis to help out while training both at monkfish and at the cavefish correct? Lastly, what's a good world to go to the Living Rock Caverns? Is there a particular world that's heavily populated? Thanks for the info!

Lagging Issue
This. When I came back from my most recent Runescape hiatus I experienced this as well and was "lagging", even though my connection was fine. When you scroll through your bank, do some items take longer to appears than others? You could already be past this. Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much. If it persists for like 2 to 3 days then I'd say you have a larger problem.

Temple at Senntisten help
I was pretty successful using diamond bolts (e) and praying mage. Was easier to kill it than the waterfiends really.

Junk items to fill up bank
If you have a lot of potions, like me, then just make a some 1, 2, 3, and 4 doses of each of them. turn 10 spots into 40. Hell, you could do incomplete potions too. You can also raid clothing stores and get some cheap items there. That'll get you around 20 spots there.

Circus
While that guide is really good, I found it didn't answer my same question when I asked it months ago. Here's a couple reads: 1) viewtopic.php?t=804712 My thread in which I ask the same question and get some good info. 2) viewtopic.php?f=30&t=770853 The thread which really explained circus exp for me. Hope those can be of use :D .

Being a self-made player
I'll first state that I do agree with your assertion that it is better to gather the money and buy resources when it'll be faster/more convenient. But that word, efficiency, is funny when you apply it to a game. I'm a big supporter of the idea that you should play games for the pursuit of your own enjoyment, and if you're doing something that is boring you to do you should seriously consider why or alternatives that reach same goal. So when you're planning a goal, one that involves the collection of resources, gaining a pile of gold to buy the materials is a legitimate method. There just seems to be some of us who would rather go about getting it ourselves, spending more time potentially, but there's a certain rewarding feeling reaching your goal AND getting a bonus of gold. An example being someone who gathers the materials for making 1k yew longs to reach a level versus paying for the materials and coming at a loss/break-even. It just seems to be a matter of preference to me. Now, I am planning on getting a BCP and tassets sometime in the near future, so I'll be paying the avansies a visit. I'll probably end up getting 73 smithing beforehand though and working all the addy bars into bolts and fletch them, then sell. Less profit, sure, but I'll get exp and money. Ultimately the former is my goal. For the record, my definition of efficiency is growing herbs at Catherby, while cutting yews, doing Calculus homework, and listening to Dragon Force. I integrate at the speed of metal. But yeah, whether your goal is exp with time or money well spent, do what you like.

Being a self-made player
Yeah, at one point I really wanted to make some money so one of my friends who started playing the same time I did tried to get me into shark merchanting in Edgeville. Took me all of 30 minutes to realize that wasn't for me. I mean think about it, old trading was just grinding your typing skill. Seriously.

Being a self-made player
I've been playing Runescape on and off for, yeesh, since at least late 2002/early 2003 (I remember the addition of sleeping bags and all the horrors of the fatigue system...*shudder*). I have one character, a level 108 with a 1740 skill total to show for it. No 99s, no massive piles of gold, but you can bet I have a ton of fond memories. More on topic though, I can say for the longest time I was (and still strive to be at times) a self-sufficient player. I did many of the things you mentioned in your first paragraph Dragoon, and still try to do. In the days of Classic and early RS2, I picked up every scrap of anything that I thought I might need. It wasn't that I thought buying materials was lazy or anything, I had a strong dislike of standing around saying "Buying X for Y gp!" for hours. I would rather spend my time collecting the damn resource myself. Not to mention when a phase I like to call the merchanting/miniclip period set it, I was glad I was largely independent of the market. Quick history lesson folks, a while back when merchanting just took off (relatively early in RS2's history), the cost of resources plummeted and rares skyrocketed. It's how phats got to the millions they run for today. Then again, I've always run on a "do this to raise these three skills" goal mindset. It's hardly that I wanted ot be antisocial. I've observed many an enlightened conversation on the shores of Catherby. Meeting random people and striking up friendships is what I like about the MMO aspect, and I like Runescape's style of gameplay which fulfills my RPG requirement. I do have to say that the Grand Exchange was one o the best updates for me ever. I stockpiled resources, in a big way. I still have some remnants in my bank. So when that came out I had a, more or less, bank sale. I never really has owned more that 1 million gp in cash ever. After raising my herblore a big from stockpiled herbs from farming, slaying, and having obtained many of the seconds myself, I sold roughly 80% of the potions I made. seeing 9 million in my bank made me laugh like a mad man. I know that seems absolutely pathetic in comparison to everyone's mountain of gold, but recently hitting 10 million in cash has felt like a major achievement for me. Maybe its just because I've played for so long and casually at that. So lately I've been investing in skills with a break-even/make profit mindset which still involves me gathering some if not all the resources myself. I'm quite content with that. Oh and just for the sake of it: You just advanced 1 storytelling level!

Maximizing Circus Experience
Well guys, I just performed and the results were quite pleasing :D Roughly 14k exp with 75 range. Roughly 6k exp with 66 agility. And finally, and my personal favorite: With only 76 magic. Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciated it.

Maximizing Circus Experience
Oh yes, this helped a lot! [hide=]* You can only earn experience once per performance for moves of a given level. If you do a move when you've already done one at that level you get the message "You already received XP for doing that move", even if it's two different moves (say blasting the shield and levitating the penguin in the magic performance). * It follows from the previous point that the way to maximize xp gains is to do one trick of each level from 10 to 99. The order in which you do the tricks isn't important, but personally I find it easier to keep track if I start from 10 and work up. * If you fail to do a move, you can try it again. The audience won't like it, but you'll get full experience if you succeed the second time. * If you succeed in doing a move that's higher than your level, you get a message saying "You succeed. but just barely" and receive much reduced xp reward. I've marked these results with a * above. For me, I got the same as a level 10 move in ranged, the same as a level 30 one in mage and agility. It seems likely that level has a role to play in what reward you get, but I don't have enough data to tell what it is. * Drinking potions etc. to boost levels has no effect on xp gained. I drank a range potion to boost my ranged leve into the 60s, but still got the reduced reward for doing the level 60 move. Presumably they do improve your chances of succeeding at a given move. * Experience gained is not derived from level in the crude way that, say, penguin points are. However there may be level-dependent effects that I can't determine like "x points per level until you reach a ceiling at level y" - like Tears of Guthix, for example. The numbers concerned are so un-round, and contain so many 0.5xp amounts, that it's hard to believe they weren't calculated in some way. * Emotes have no effect on xp gained.[/hide] Fantastic, thanks for all the responses guys, I'll probably do the circus later with this new knowledge and report my findings. :D Just for the sake of closing the topic.

Maximizing Circus Experience
Okay, so, I'm not really interested in getting points for the ringmaster costume. I'll take that on sometime later. I'm much more interested in getting the most exp possible out of this weekly distraction. So I get the general idea for maxing out experience, where you don't repeat tricks. The problem is that the few times I've tried it I still get the "you've already received exp for this move" even though I'm juggling/casting on a different object. To start, I have a few questions, and later I'm hoping a set plan for anyone to maximize the experience they can gain. I couldn't find any sources to explain how so hopefully this will benefit others later. Questions: Is it necessary to do an emote in between tricks? Can you cast teleport and then alchemy on the same object, or do you need to jump to another target before recasting on the same? Do you need to do the different levels in any kind of order? Does wearing magic/range boosting equipment improve your odds on successfully performing their respective tricks? If you fail a particular trick, is it worth retrying it or do you only get one shot at getting the experience? Any additional information I didn't specifically ask for would be appreciated. I'm not trying to write a guide, but I am trying to answer this question in its entirety.

MTK - Manage Thy Kingdom
I like my system. I put in about 3 million, then every other day or every third day I go and get my rating back to 100% (takes like, what, 5 minutes at most?). Now, here's the real magic: Your approval rating is clocked at about the time you initially put in money into the coffers. So for me, at 1:00 PM each day. However, resources are not "bought" by your workers until you choose to see what they've collected. I've tested this. So the day of checkout I go and check the current prices of coal/fish/flax, and decide whether or not I want gems or seeds (if you do 10 on raw fish and 5 on coal expect a bounty of gems, additional revenue and crafting exp). Good luck, and in my opinion, since your membership will expire, go ahead and do fish/coal since tree seeds won't be useful for you. Note that you will likely get a clue scroll from the raw fish, so if you like those be sure to give yourself some time to do that before you leave members.

Compiling a Daily/Weekly "To-do" list
Alright, so now that it's summer I have to play a little Runescape on the side again. There's been quite a few updates since I last played actively, and the first thing I want to do is make a list of things I can do on a daily/weekly basis. So far my list consists of: Daily: Collect/Buy Battle staffs, Flax, Seaweed, Pineapples, and Sand from their respective NPCs Grow the Jade Vine Fight Bork and the Phoenix Find two evil trees Find a Shooting star Weekly: Play Guthix's Tears Perform in the Circus Spy on Penguins So that's my list with just the things I can remember. Please feel free to tell me anything else I might have missed, including other Distractions and Diversions. Now, about what time do these things reset? I know Tears keeps a timer from when you last did it, but what about the daily events and other weekly events? How many Penguins can you spot in one week? Is there only so many of them? So yeah, any suggestions/corrections and answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tylon <()>
