  1. Notable items in my two spins: A Huge exp lamp Swag Bag The swag bag description only suggested that it held "valuable loot" and seemed to imply a use in thieving. Both of those items were labeled as super lucky.
  2. My preferred method (as of day 2) is Attack controlled (1-4) Bury bones (5) Burn log (6) Cook a monkfish (7) Fletch a bow (8) Make fire battlestaff (9) Teleport to Varrock (10) Claim reward Then go buy battlestaves. Terribly simple to do since i usually bank to get the aura and so i can get the materials for 6-10 anyway. I'll totally waste at worst 3 minutes for 5k rcing exp at my level. (77)
  3. A while back I was friends with a guy who was in a clan that would periodically go play BA, and he'd let me know when they were going. So every now and then I'd just go play a couple full games, so it wasn't as grindy and my horn lasted a lot longer (was using it with sc picks for mining) I recommend this method if you want to be casual about it.
  4. All I can say with regards to this loyalty thing is that I've been playing on and off for years, often keeping my membership active since it's not that much for me and I tend to play a few times a week even when I'm doing other things in my life. Basically, this is icing on the cake when I was happy with the cake. Whether or not the icing is of any quality, we'll see. I'm at the least a bit curious as to the other things they'll add later. I'll just let the points accumulate for a while anyway.
  5. Not to mention the fact that training slayer will get your combat skills up. That would then allow you to kill waterfiends/black demons/what have you later if you so wish. I just do slayer and the occasional penguin points for my summoning level.
  6. For filling up your bank fairly easily, I recommend using the rocks from shattered heart. Since you can then stuff them in the bag when you're done rcing. Also, fletching. Strung/unstrung short/longbows plus stocks. Regular, oak, willow, maple, even yew. Also, if you still need space filled, varying potion doses. Especially useless ones you can drop later.
  7. I was under the impression that is was 80 magic defense to get the reavers off of you. I could be wrong though.
  8. Then again, I could see the soE being useful later on. For example, I'm planning on smithing addy bars till the cows come home, and will be making knives for a long while. Eventually, when I can make platebodies, I may switch to that, as with the soE, I may get some bars back, and therefore get more out of my resources. Also, by that time far down the road, I'll probably have plenty of tokens lying around.
  9. I have the gem bag, coal bag, scroll of life, and scroll of cleaning so far. I've been very pleased with all my purchases. The coal bag is very nice for the mining training that I do, which includes ~7 sc picks, penance horn, concentrated coal rock, a BoB, and the coal bag. I spend a lot of time raking in mining exp and not running to bank. You've already got the scroll of life, which is handy. I'm working on getting higher herblore so I only recently bought the scroll of cleansing, but I hear good things. The arcane stream necklace I know you'll be hearing is a must for any serious combat magic with a SoL. Most of my smithing is 1bar items, so the efficiency scroll is meh. I suggest you consider the same, what do you end up smithing the most? Saving up for one of the piety-like prayers would be nice, I'd vote for the range one over the magic one. After that, I'm thinking anti-poison totem for it's utility, then maybe a split dragon-tooth necklace and bonecrusher for the hell of it. Hell, maybe a Sneakerpeeper is you're feeling fancy. These are mostly things I'm considering, so take my opinion for what it is.
  10. I'm in a much similar situation, as my rate will show: 17,921 xp/hr 58,012,334 total exp, 3 hours shy of 135 days.
  11. I'm going to be building a desktop soon anyway, so I might as well just wait until then to use mousekeys. Thanks for the input though
  12. Is there a way to use mousekeys without the use of a number pad? I don't really feel like using the function key when it's something that's supposed to be saving me effort. ...so I guess I'm asking if it's possible to be lazier with mousekeys? At least for a laptop anyway. Can you change the keys you need to use mousekeys? I'm running Windows XP if that's helpful.
  13. My girlfriend took it upon herself to collect one of each uniquely colored squirrel. I have a saradomin owl, blue rune guardian, a blue gecko, and a creeping hand personally. I like that they share a colored theme, goes with my polar Menagerie.
  14. Earlier this summer I spent what seemed to be an extraordinary amount of time filling my penance horn from empty to full... And let me tell you that it is WORTH IT. I got from 75ish mining to 77 with penance horn and sc picks, went soooo much better. I hadn't leveled mining in years, and I actually found it enjoyable again  I did coal trucks with Seers headband 3, coal and gem bags, cammy teletabs, and about one and a half sc picks per trip. A Coal bag and a spirit terrorbird and you can empty the trucks in 3 runs to the bank. Since those two minigames are time not spent mining, I found them to be worth it. I'm going to get some more picks and hit the conc. coal again for 80 mining soon. Oh, and my horn is still around 2/3 full, even after all that mining, some firemaking, and some agility training. It takes a while to charge but it takes even longer to run out. Totally worth it.
  15. Seer's headband is a light source that doesn't extinguish. I believe it work even while not wearing it. You ought to check that though. A bloated leech familiar might be your solution for the poison and disease. It's special cures both, at the cost of some health. Not sure how much.
  16. Read this. Looked at my dragon platebody that I bought months ago. Compared its stats to Dharok's. Blinked a few times. Sold dragon platebody. Bought Dharok platebody and legs as well as Ahrim's robe top and bottom. ????????? Profit. He's quite right though. The chump-change things you can do nowadays to pay off worn-out barrows armor is why I got a Karil's top and bottom a while ago, and my most recent purchase. I've got a very similar situation to yours Darkkalphite, I'm mainly a skiller who has no real inclination to do boss monsters and monster hunting doesn't seem that profitable. My main source of income lately has been, well, pack-ratting. I go out and collect a large quantity of some resource to get some level I want, then see what it's worth and whether or not I want to keep it. A big piece of advice I have for you is two things: 1) Check your bank. Sometimes you find piles of a resource that you, well, haven't used and had for months. That's an easy source of anywhere from 10k to 2-3mill. That pile of potions you never use may be something someone else will pay out the nose for. 2) Watch the market. For instance, sell your orange tree seeds and buy curry seeds. The way the prices were last week, I sold a large number of orange seeds, which were/are still being merched, and bought a monetarily equal value of curry seeds, but gained a lot of exp. You could just keep the cash at equal the exp if you want. This works with several skills. Play the game and have fun, money will come your way when you do what you like. Lately? I've been ranging Zogres. I might sell my ancestral bones, but I have been selling Zogre bones at 1.1k each. Is it efficient? Probably not. I'm having fun though  Which I believe is the point of this whole damn game.
  17. Yep! Either you'll have the needed herblore levels for certain potions and their benefits, or you don't! ;)
  18. A way to mitigate this issue is to do a little algebra, or in this case, throwing it all into Excel. For the following I'm going to assume that Runescape rounds down for percentage boosts, which I'm led to believe is correct [source]. Results: Those are the required levels for all dungeoneering potions with all three tiers of naturalist potion. You can assume that if, say, a party member has 60 herblore, and wants to make a Survivalist potion, then he can use a Weak Naturalist potion to boost to 64, which will then enable him to make a Naturalist potion to boost his herblore to 66 in order to make the Survivalist potion. So, if you wanted to see just how much the party's stats can be raised above maximum with the aid of potions, all you need to do is run the highest herblore level in the party versus these numbers in order to see which tiers of boosting potions can be applied. Let me know if that garbage makes any sense to you guys  I was more bored than tired so I decided to make this sheet, but I'm not sure I'm being perfectly clear.
  19. I had this idea while dungeoneering with my friends. In short, you regularly run into doors with levels beyond your party's current levels. With the addition of herb seeds to the shop, it's now a lot easier to try to boost levels to open those doors. While the math is pretty simple, I thought making a calculator would be handy. Essentially you put your name as well as party member's names into the calculator. I'll then show your teams current levels, perhaps a chart that shows all the skills and who has the highest of each. It would then take into consideration whether or not your team could make each of the stat boosting potions, so then it would display the maximum potential levels for your team and what potion you need to boost to that level. I have little to no coding experience as far as building one of the calculators goes, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there. Thoughts?
  20. Amen, if you're playing a game and not deriving any joy from it, only misery...Then why the hell are you still playing it? If Jagex is heading in a direction with its development that you don't like, then that's too bad. Jagex has a right as a company to do what it pleases, and it tried to appeal to its fanbase. You as a customer have the right to not give them money. As someone said, you can just not play for a while and come back if something strikes your interest. I've been playing this game too damn long. All I can say is that the amount of whiny runts who complain each and every week has become extraordinarily large. Perhaps this is in part Jagex's fault. As someone who has a job that requires me to tailor a service to a broad range of consumers, I know that it's difficult and that not everyone likes your decisions. I sympathize with Jagex, and to you ranters I say shut up and eat your damn cabbage. It's good for you. Also, Jagex removed fatigue. I've yet to have an update that improved my playing experience more than that. /thread
  21. I like having a Wily cat for the purpose of gathering spices. If you're looking to have a...casual cat, then you might want to pick up another kitten and keep your Wily one in the Menagerie.
  22. Check here: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Crystal_chest I've mainly only ever gotten ores, runes, rarely rune bars, and sometimes other half key parts. Oh, and spinach rolls....
  23. Except that I got both of my smithing rocks yesterday from smelting steel bars... It seems to me that in the course of collecting these rocks, everyone has trouble with getting at least one or two skill's worth. You might get the two mining rocks in the same inventory while mining rune essence, but it seems to take ages to get your agility rocks. That's just my observation. I think that the rarity factor of the rocks is just sometimes more noticeable in some skills than others. Probably has to do with the fact that you're collecting 30 objects over the course of 15 skills. Odds are you're more likely to struggle with the odds at some point.
  24. The only problem with having so many updates at once is having one thread for the discussion of all is a bit silly. To save you the trouble of looking them back up, here they are: Fire cape/Ice Strykewyrm drama resolution aside, I like a lot of these. Particularly the addition of another blockable task. One nagging question I have is about the "dealing killing blows faster" upgrade worth a tidy sum of 400 points. I'm assuming this makes you auto-use a finishing item on gargoyles, rock slugs, desert lizards, and the like. Anyone know more about this?
