I am working on my slayer tasks and i am getting randoms left right and center one after each other its like the randoms know thy are going to get a update and wont be able to pester players us much as thy use to. Slaying bloodveld lvl 146 and the aggression worn off and then u get a random that takes u away and wen u get back bam thy all attack u at ones. 14. At my work the IT Dep. is verry strict when it comes to passwords my e-mail at work must have a new password every 2 months and u may not use the same password again for a year and u need to use caps and shift and numbers in your password but then when u forget your password or u forget to chance after 2 months u need to phone them and thy chance it to a default password that is all ways the same and it is one the hackes love. Now i have made my self guilty of not changing my default password and using it till it ends and then phoning them to reset it for me so i can still use the default one because i am to lazy to chance my password every 2 months. I phoned the IT Dep. and ask if thy an make it so i don't have to chance my password every 2 months and thy said no its for security reasons and thy can not chance it so tell them that there default password is i security risk and that many people don't bother to chance it because thy are to lazy to think of a new password every 2 months and thy said that i do not know what i am taking about.

  21. here is to all that say f2p is a demo its not [hide=Mark Gerhard new CEO of Jagex says it not a demo]-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9th February 2009 - The Future of RuneScape Hi Everyone, I'd like to introduce myself to you all. My name is Mark Gerhard and I am the new CEO of Jagex, the makers of RuneScape. I have been fortunate enough to have worked at Jagex for some time now and consider us to be first and foremost a games developer. Were driven by teams that not only care passionately about games but also actively enjoy playing the games we create. We are going to be making a number of improvements to the game, I'm also keen to clear up a few misconceptions about RuneScape at the same time and I also believe there are a few things we have done wrong in the past that I want to apologise for. To start off with, we want to be more open and listen to our players. Some of you may consider Jagex a secretive and closed-off company which isn't how we want to be perceived moving forward. Unlike most other companies, it just isn't our style to spend our time self marketing or shouting about how great we are, we prefer to just get on with it and make cool games, but that doesn't mean we don't listen to what you have to say. A good example of this is that a lot of free players told us they found our video adverts before the game annoying to the point it was putting them off playing, so we've scrapped them with immediate effect. We now appreciate that it can be frustrating having to sit through a video advert when you just want to play RuneScape, so we have to put our hands up to admit we made a mistake and say that we're sorry. To be completely candid with you, video adverts generate significantly more revenue than other adverts, but as one of our fundamental philosophies is that having fun is more important to us than making as much money as possible, we have removed video adverts from the game. We are also planning to change the way we communicate with you. We are going to be bringing back Development Diaries but making them more regular and focused on some of the different projects we're currently working on for you. These will replace Behind the Scenes, which we have found a creative constraint on our developers as the promised content has to come out as communicated in order to avoid disappointment and prevented us from surprising you with better or different content. It has also led to compromises in quality that we've not been happy with and, most importantly, pieces of content being released which you, our players, have not enjoyed as much as you should. A side benefit of this is that we'll be releasing more content which will be a complete surprise to you, so keep your eyes peeled for updates! We'd also like to clear up a few issues surrounding the free game. RuneScape is different from all other MMOs in that the free game has an epic amount of content (we'd estimate over 2,000 hours worth to get all your skills up to 99 and complete all the quests) and isn't merely a demo for the members version. If anything, we see the members version as an expansion pack for those that really love the game and we feel both games are substantive in their own right. I want to apologise for habitually over-promoting the benefits of membership to our free players. I strongly believe if you love the free game you will equally love the members content and that is sufficient promotion to me. If you can't enjoy the free game in its own right then we're not doing our jobs properly. We will continue to improve the free game and, crucially, make it as fun as possible because we know that this is the way that everyone first discovers RuneScape. We also have a long-term commitment to improving all the aspects of the game from overall graphical enhancements through to new gameplay mechanics. Another thing that has cropped up in recent times, which we'd like to clear up once and for all, is the common belief that RuneScape is a game aimed at kids. This is absolutely not the case. We can see how this view has fostered, however, thanks to our over-zealous chat filter, Quick Chat worlds, dumbing down of certain bits of humour and storylines, as well as certain areas of the game like the Stronghold of Security, which do provide solid security advice but perhaps come across as a little condescending to the vast majority of our older players. I unreservedly apologise for this and to rectify this we have already removed a number of words from the chat filter and are currently working on reviewing and amending any content we feel is too kid-focused. RuneScape benefits from one of the most diverse player demographics in the industry and is truly reflective of the worldwide population. As a responsible company we have had to comply with certain regulatory obligations to ensure online safety for any younger players and as a result we introduced Quick Chat for players under a certain age, but this was to meet our legal responsibilities rather than who the game is designed for, its probably also worth noting that we have a total of 4 Quick Chat worlds in a total of 165 RuneScape worlds. As I said earlier, we are gamers at heart and we try to design games and content which we ourselves would enjoy playing. Im an active RuneScape player and Im ever so slightly over 21 :) We are also committed to working with our fans in the RuneScape community to make the game a more enjoyable place to be. We will be running community events, tournaments and JMod participation in-game to provide more support to you and make RuneScape an even better place to be. To kick things off in this new era of openness I'm going to be answering your questions. For the next week we will open a thread in the News and Announcements forum for questions, and in a weeks time I will post answers to a selection of your questions. So please feel free to drop-in and ask a question or tell me what you think of the game. If you're a free player, you won't be able to post on the forums, but you can email me at [email protected]. This email address will work for the next week, so you've got plenty of time to get your questions and comments in. Have fun! Mod MMG Jagex CEO[/hide]
  22. The faster spinning reward has moved to the med tasks. No difference to me though : here is the diffrences Level 1 headband: +3 Magic defence bonus. Level 2 headband: +4 magic defence bonus. Level 3 headband: +5 magic defence and +3 prayer bonus. and then there is the small diffrences of explaining same of the rewards in more detail. Stat's of the armor pieces are never shown in the kdb. And the extra information isn't really a difference. Just something extra. there was no stats before the update

  25. I found this on the same web site [hide=How Hackers Will Crack Your Password]How Hackers Will Crack Your Password Posted by Robert Graham, Jan 21, 2009 02:53 PM I've been cracking passwords lately for pen tests, and I'm surprised at how corporate guidelines don't really help people choose passwords. As in many places in security, a disconnect exists between how people secure systems and how hackers break systems. So the following is a brief description of what hackers do (or, at least, what I do when pen-testing systems). The first problem is an "online" vs. "offline" attack. An online attack is where hackers try to log on pretending to be you and guess your password. Unless you've chosen something extremely easy to guess (such as "Wasila High"), this isn't a big danger. Online systems automatically lock your account after too many bad guesses. The real danger is "offline" cracking. Hackers break into a system to steal the encrypted password file or eavesdrop on an encrypted exchange across the Internet. They are then free to decrypt the passwords without anybody stopping them. Doing this, hackers can guess passwords at the rate of 1 billion guesses a second. That's fast, but not when you consider how big the problem is. Consider passwords composed of letters, numbers, and symbols. That's roughly 100 combinations per character. A five-character password will have 10 billion combinations. This means a hacker can guess a five-character password in only 10 seconds. But things quickly get worse for the hacker. This problem grows exponentially: 5 characters = 10 seconds 6 characters = 1,000 seconds 7 characters = 1 day 8 characters = 115 days 9 characters = 31 years 10 characters = 3,000 years This is why you need long passwords. Hackers can usually crack anything with seven characters or fewer, but they would be unlikely to guess passwords using this technique that are nine characters or more. This is also why you need complex passwords containing uppercase and lowercase, numbers, and symbols. That's 100 possible combinations for each character. Lowercase passwords have only 26 combinations per character. A hacker can guess an all-lowercase password of 10 characters in about two days. However, hackers have another trick up their collective sleeve: the mutated dictionary attack. Because of the above problem, you might choose a large password, like "Aardvark-Zebra9." This is longer than what a hacker will be able to discover by brute force. So hackers solve this with a "dictionary" attack. Instead of trying all combinations of characters, they instead try to match passwords with words in a dictionary. They then "mutate" the words, reflecting common things people do to passwords. When users are told to make their passwords complex, they usually do something simple to them. Instead of choosing "robert" as a password, they will make it "robert!". Putting an exclamation mark at the end of a password is one of the most common mutations people choose. Hackers know this, so their dictionary cracks will do the same thing. Here is a list of common mutations a hacker will try to dictionary words: capitalizing the first letter of a word; checking all combinations of upper/lowercase for words; inserting a number randomly in the word; putting numbers on the ends of words; putting numbers on the beginning of words; putting the same pattern at both ends, like *foobar*; replacing letters like "o" and "l" with numbers like "0" and "1"; punctuating the end of words; duplicating the first letter, or all letters in the word; combining two words together; and putting punctuation or space between the words. Hackers are also smart about which words they choose. They don't just choose English words, but also include most popular languages (i.e., Spanish, French, German). They also choose words from pop culture, like xbox360 or Britney Spears. If they know who you are, they will find words particular to you. Let's say your name is "John Smith," you drive a "BMW," you work for "Microsoft," and you like to watch "The Office." A hacker will Google these terms and create wordlists from the resulting Web pages. Thus, "Carell325i" seems like a fine 10-character password to defeat hackers, but will get cracked in only a few minutes by a hacker who knows you. (I like to use the Associative Word List Generator Web site to generate password lists for me.) So how do you choose something that hackers can't guess? Well, remember that hackers aren't all-powerful. Increased complexity of things they have to check, the less likely they will guess your password. Yes, they will check for numbers on the ends of passwords, but as long as you've chosen something like your birthdate instead of 1234, it's something more likely to be missed. Including just one international character, like a vowel with an umlaut, will defeat most password crackers. They can be typed by holding down the key and typing a -three-digit number on the numpad. Typing long phrases instead of words will also help. In theory, it should be easy to guess "Twas as a dark and stormy night" as a passphrase, but in practice, hackers won't catch it. On the flip side, the more complex you make your password, the harder it will be for you to type it in. Try to create something as long as you can comfortably type, while still keeping in mind the techniques above. Robert Graham is CEO of Errata Security. Special to Dark Reading[/hide] My password was only 6 letters long its now 10 letters long and totally random
