  1. The best way to increase the difficulty of a quest is to make harder bosses, harder puzzles, etc. Excessive requirements do nothing but increase the preliminary grind before the quest, while adding nothing to the actual content. Well, you want harder bosses and puzzles right. You find fishing boring. So if its boring, im guessing its hard for you to train fishing because you dont have much motivation to do it. So if you follow this logic, having a high fishing requirement would make the quest "harder" to start. Yeah, the quest itself wouldn't be harder, but it would be harder getting it. Il take my slayer grind for the cape example from earlier. You like doing quests, lets say quests are the reward. you have to grind to get your reward like with most things in Runescape. I have to grind slayer for my reward, the cape. Makes sence right? I dont feel special when I have the requirements to do a quest. And besides, skill requirements give people something to aim for. Requirements for quests usualy have something to do with the quests anyway.
  2. Ok, now I havent done the underground pass quest in years :P but there were these items you needed to defeat him. (A doll was mentioned) So I think there is a good possibility he is/was a lich.
  3. I thought we were debating. :P Anyway, I thought this was going on because you didnt want 200 hours of grinding to 97 fishing (even though it would be more like 160 hours from your level unless you wanted to fish sharks to 97. In which case it would probably take over 200 hours.) while others either wouldnt mind it or wanted it. Its not just because others wanted a level 97 requirement. I dont see how its irrelevant. Both require grinding, the difference is one has storyline and a reward while the other only has a reward. If 99 slayer was required to slay a Demented Tormented Demon for While Guthix Sleeps 2, it would be quest related. Some would even say the slayer cape is better content than quests. It comes down to personal opinion. Well I didn't write up a whole script for a quest series where Ice Barrage would be a requirement. If you want me to, I can make one up on the spot. Lucien makes a forgotten zarosian fortress rise from beneath the surface in the northern part of the wilderness. He has created loads of magical traps and barriers to make sure you and any enemies wont make it in alive. Since he has the staff of armadyl and the stone of jas, these traps require highly skilled adventurers to break through the barriers to enter Lucien's chamber at the top of the fortress. While you arent able to break the barriers, you can use your most skilled talents to make enough time to pass through barriers. Fire barriers require 94 magic to penetrate through, creating enough space for you to pass before the barrier regenerates itself. Using Ice Burst wouldn't create a big enough hole in the barrier to enter through before the opening would close. I agree, no 90+ skills for quests should be added at this time. I think Jagex should keep slowly adding higher and higher levels like they are doing at the moment. It gives current players time to gain the required levels, and new players have a ton of quests to do anyway. High level quests would be something for them to aim for as a goal.
  4. If that thing can play runescape, im ordering one this minute. Internet hotspots might be an issue, but if im on holiday or something I wouldn't have to drag my chunky laptop with. :P
  5. Stop over-analyzing my sentence. ;_; The point was the requirement would be 94 magic. Any multi-damaging spell capable of drowning the fires under that level wouldn't be powerful enough of an effect.
  6. Should be doable with Ice Burst actually. "This spell is not powerful enough to drench the flames." ;)
  7. Awwh... Poor Den *hands some cookies* they should last till the update! ;) Back on topic- D: thats sorta annoying, but I wouldn't have the req's anyway... Wooo. |^_^| I guess I can fill my evening with skilling instead. :P
  8. Still though, if you need 94 magic to use ice barrage in a quest where 9 magical fires have to be taken out at the same time, I would see no problem in it. Just because I want to make overloads at 60 herblore doesnt mean the requirement to make them should be 60. Just because I want to complete every quest the second they come out with all my stats at 60, doesnt mean the requirements for quests should be capped at 60. Just because slayer isnt my favorite skill and I dont want to "grind 200 hours" to 99 for a skill cape, doesnt mean I should be handed one without doing it. And besides, I have no idea why this keeps going on. Its not like 97 in ANY skill will be a quest requirement anytime soon. Its like worrying about a comet suddenly hitting earth and wiping out loads of amounts of people while laying a large area barren.
  9. *waits for somebody to blame Jagex even though it is not their fault* It's the Americans fault, always the Americans. ^ I could be staring at the void by now, but noooo. :(
  10. I have 9m Fishing exp over 99. I wouldn't have gotten that if I didnt think fishing was fun. I would gladly fish that extra 1m exp if that proves to you that I find fishing fun, because 200 hours of fishing is 10m exp at a rate of 50k exp per hour. (I could get 60k an hour through barbarian fishing as well.)
  11. Ffs >.< Of course when I have late school the next day, something has to go wrong. :wall:
  12. HOLY CABBAGE! O.O That looks bloody epic. I would go for 104m slayer exp if that existed. :P Would love it if you did one of the other capes too. I also agree with you that the first one looks better. The shoulder pads dont look right.
  13. Looking forward to seeing who got in. |^_^|
  14. People tend to just parse words once they run out of actual arguments. If you see a "rebuttle" like that, it generally means you've won. I'll keep that in mind  Problem is I've seen this from both sides. So I guess everyone's a winner today.
  15. Jagex said at RuneFest that if a person decides to not play parts of the game, its their choice. They would however not cater updates around this factor.
  16. Den replied to Lep's topic in General Discussion
http://runescape.wik...i/Ring_of_stone Rarish item, you say? Completely unrelated link, you say? The bone brooch wont make the easter ring any less "rareish" or devalue the "showoffness" of it anymore then the ring of stone does. Thats what Riemis was trying to say with that link I think.
  17. A name i liked and some recent levels:
  18. Last time I checked, runescape was one huge grind. ;) Though I guess when you get a new level at a faster pace, it doesnt feel like such a grind. Still, if you dont enjoy grinding, then this isnt really the best game for you. Runescape requires you to grind to advance. Now about all this 97 fishing talk, look at the highest quest requirements for all skills. The highest level needed for a quest cape is 62. The highest level needed in any skill for it is 77 magic. Why would they suddenly add a slower skill needing 97? Yeah maybe in like 5 years they would add 93 fletching or cooking, but still. If Jagex want to make the quest cape one of the hardest capes to get, they need to add as many factors in as possible like I said in my previous post. I dont get why high level skills as a requirement for the hardest cape in the game is such a bad thing. Runescape is one big grind fest after all.
  19. I did find a few spots too. There was one tile by the road at Daemonheim and one spot in the Phoenix Lair that still flickered. That being said though, there was 10 times more flickering in the lair before the z-buffering update so it helped a lot. Same here, I think I read somewhere that they couldn't alter them as much as they wanted without creating a fairly large increase in server lag due to the amount of tree's everywhere. That could be solved now though. Edit: 6,666 posts. :ohnoes:
  20. So in other words, Dungeoneering? :P I dont get what the big fuss is about. Jagex said they want quest cape to be one of the hardest accomplishment capes to get. The best way to do this is to incorporate as many factors in as possible (hard bosses requiring high combat, high skills, challenge's throughout the quest and puzzles). If desert treasure had no requirements, but recommended you had the levels stated, there would be level 30's running around with ancient magics.
  21. Then it would be an anticlimax quest. Not necessarily. Remember Summer's End? That was a pretty tough "boss battle" and didn't require any combat. I actually died twice fighting that thing, yet not a single time during WGS. This. Killing a boss through skilling while avoiding its attacks would be a nice way to incorporate a final boss imo.
  22. On the 13th of October it will have been 1 year since the previous elf quest. On the 17th of October 2005, Mournings End 2 was released. In other words, soon 3 years until we get the next quest. Was really into the Elf storyline before, but its faded with time.
  23. I like how quest requirements are being discussed more then the BTS is. :shades::thumbup:
  24. Grandmaster quest. |^_^| Hope it comes out earlier in the week since I have a test on friday.
  25. GRANDMASTER QUEST WOOOOOOOO@@@@@@ Almost have enough charms for 99 summoning, maybe the charm sprites will get me the last ones. :P (Have a feeling they will be like imps, but we already have the spirit imp so I'm not sure.) Pretzels, beer and being a Halloween rock star, all sound good to me. Make-X improvements sounds nice. Postbag is coming back! :D Friends list add-on to the game bar = win Wilderness wall updates = Interesting Godsword rework to work with deflect curses = No idea what that means. All in all I like how the plan for this month looks.
