  1. So I quit Runescape right around the time free trade came back mostly due to not having enough time to play the game anymore. But I have some time on my hands this summer and am intrigued by the new features. However I have heard mixed opinions on the EOC (albeit a lot of the negative stuff is from pkers, an activity I never cared much about)...so my question is, is the game worth coming back to for a while? Or am I better off staying away for good or at the very least sticking to what I know in the 2007 version? If yes I could use some advice on equipment....I have about 170m to spend and am maxed out combatwise. I have heard drygore is the cream of the crop for melee weapons...but which is best out of mace/rapier/ls if you can only have one? Also are shields worth using with dual-weilding being an option? I always wanted a divine/ely back in the old days, are they still used? Could also use advice on mage/range gear. Finally what about moneymaking? I always enjoyed boss hunting, particularly soloing TDs and Kree with a steel titan, and slayer too. What's good these days for a player with max stats but can't afford all the absolute best equipment? Thank you to anybody who replies to my many questions.....I feel a little like Fry waking up in the future...lol.
  2. Has anybody tested out how good the fremmenik boots are on DKs? and what the noted drops are?
  3. What kind of bank lets you deposit rocks in their vault? I tried in real life but they kept telling me coal was not a form of currency......noobs
  4. Get the feeling you don't have a steel titan o.O Nope but I got an iron titan and it sucks ass. Thought it might do some good in FOG. Nah, you loose dps fumbling with the horrible inferface than switching melee/range or melee/magic. Frankly they just pray away anything it can do anyway, wolpertinger boost is about the only thing I use. Some level 70 noob with a rune 2h could do more damage than a titan, maybe they could let me summon that. :D I think the interface is what discourages a lot of people from combat familiars. Obviously with a steel titan its awesome enough that you're willing to put up with it but with lower leveled familiars it becomes more hassle than its worth. I too am stuck with only an iron titan and opt not to use it on most multi-combat slayer tasks simply because in the time it takes for that thing to respond and start attacking, I probably could've killed the monster myself. I only like it for things like waterfiends/Daggonoths/Black demons, where the monsters are aggressive and I don't have to tell the titan to attack. personally I would love to see different "stances" we can set our familiars to. Aggressive-If your in multi, familiar will attack anything that moves, regardless of if you tell it to Nuetral-Only attacks on command or if you are being attacked, basically what we have right now Defensive-Only attacks on command And yes I was just playing AOE and got the idea from there.
  5. Personally I'm in the group that would quit the minute the level cap is increased to 120. I just recently hit 138 combat, but I didn't do it by spending insane amounts of time sitting at the computer on a daily basis, but by remaining dedicated to the game for six years. Overall my time played per day is only about a hour. I am enjoying my position as one of the "upper class" runescape players, but that would be ripped away from me with 120 skills. It would take several years to get back to that level. Runescape requires enough time as is, and, I hate to stereotype like this, but, you really would have to be a no lifer to gain 104m in a single skill. That is a staggering amount of xp, and I find it funny that in my experiences many advocates of 120 skills are players with no 99's or have a 99 in one of the "easy" skills. I don't think they know how hard it is to get 13m xp, let alone 104m. I would be willing to venture a guess that atleast 90% of players don't have more than 2 99's. 120 skills would really serve a usefull purpose to only a very small amount of players, who, in all fairness, probably need reason to leave the game, not play even more.Theres also the issue that most skills don't have content all the way to 99, and still have plenty of room for new features. 99-120 would just be empty space serving no purpose other than reason to grind and no-life. Another problem I see is the competition factor. As an avid monster hunter, I spend a lot of time at places like gwd, and these days crashing is a pretty bad, just imagine what it will be like when its lv140 and 150 players doing the crashing. A few select players who already have enough exp to get skills into the 110's, or play 8 hours a day and can get there quickly, would have a monstrous advantage over others when boss hunting. Atleast nowadays most players are relatively near each other in combat ability ( 130-138 @sara, a little more level discrepancy at bandos, almost everybody at Arma is 95-99, or at bare minimum 90range ) The way I see it, 120 skills would make runescape less fun for me, and yes I may sound a little selfish, but if I'm not having fun while playing, whats the point? The way I see it, its either spend 6 hours at the computer everyday, or give up on runescape and enjoy the remainder of the best years of my life. To me, the choice is obvious.
  6. I would go with Tds. Solo Bandos might also be an option, although you should be wary of ovl/turmoil crashers. Another option could be to invest in some Chinchompas and get your range to around 95 and go to team Arma. Chins aren't horribly expensive and the xp is very good. Arma is one of the best moneymakers and imo the best GWD boss for teaming purposes due to high hilt/item splits. I wouldn't recommend doing a ton of Dks without a yak, it increases profits a lot, maybe even doubling them, especially in solos.
  7. keep the claws, they are awesome in just about every combat scenario. The only place where I find them to be worse than an Ags is at sara gwd. I also like to think of claws as an AGS/SGS that only costs 35m, its really easy to go to W2 and borrow an AGS and then just loan out claws to get rid of the junk you acquire in that trade so you break even.
  8. Alright thanks for the clearing that up
  9. Thanks for the replies everybody. I found the damage taken to be quite manageable. You spend most of your time ranging in which case you can just take a step back and the TD can't touch you. Throw in quick melee hits with a whip and d claws specs and soul split will be healing a lot of the damage taken, Unicorn takes care of whatever is left over. Of course I am maxed cmbt so I could see how this wouldn't be useful for lower levels. It didn't make the kills any faster, but it definitely made things simpler
  10. Ok so I have two completely unrelated questions, one about smithing and the other about Tormented Demons The easy one: I have 73 smithing, I want 80, whats the most efficient way to get there? Money is no problem, but I would prefer not to spend 40m on 7 smith levels. I've heard addy bolts or superheat are good, or should I just make the best thing I can with sacred clay? A bit more complicated issue about TDs: So I was talking in our clan's chat and one of my clan members tells everybody about a glitch he heard about at Tds where if you use soulsplit they will stop changing attack styles. Not believing this to be true I went to try it out for myself and once the TD started using his melee attack I switched to soulsplit instead of protection prayers and sure enough he only meleed the rest of the kill. He would still rear his head back and shake, as they normally do to signal an attack change, and would still release the magic fireball, but instead of switching to range or mage, he would just continue to melee. I've looked through the RSOF and internet in general and have to yet to see much mention of this before. Is this just the way Td A.I. is supposed to work, or would this be considered bug abuse? Thanks for your replies
  11. And a d chain at dusties at all is 1/10k i believe. You are lucky as hell. Now I though about posting my back to back d boots, but that won't be much point after this! (now imagine if you got back to back visage/arma hilts or something else, instead of this. The chances would be about the same o.o) Actually back to back visage/arma hilts wouldn't be the same. Yes, good luck, no, not as good of luck. Arma Hilt/Visage aren't nearly close to 1/10k rate, nor are they even remotely close. The fact that they're higher priced is why they're considered "rare" And @ Elite; shopped pic. Hilt isn't nearly as rare, supposedly around 1/300, as for visage that visage drop rate thread on RSOF has it around 1/10k off of 200k kills, so id say visage rate is similar to d chain from dusty rate, anyways I think this is a one time in a runscape life event, so its up to somebody else to get double visages
  12. [spoiler=Best slayer task ever]Was doing a Dustdevils task when this happened And then a few kills later this! Heres a pic from my adventurer's log to anybody who thinks I may have faked this.....2 Chains in 6 minutes...thats gotta be some kind of record
  13. was just about to ask same thing, can't find anything on it in KB but didn't figure they would put there immediately if this is real Anyone can edit RSWiki, So I wouldn't trust it. And if this was true Jagex would've announced it. Didn't think it was true either...not so much because it was on runescape wiki but because if it was a reward from such an exclusive and difficult diary that not even 7k ppl can complete then there would be so much complaining to jagex due to how long and how highly anticipated the crystal halberd has been. Yeah cause thats the OBVIOUS reason to doubt it and not the fact that reward is CLEARLY in the elf lands and the diary has NOTHING to do with the elves stranger things have happened before, and after all that has happened this year with the pvp updates and untradeable herblore pots etc. I've become trained to think about how the general community would react to an update and not so much how it makes sense in the world of runescape
