That's right folks, Zelda isn't the only big Franchise to celebrate it's 25th Anniversary this year. Today, the Metroid Franchise is officially 25 years old. Ever since then, Metroid has revolutionized the basic sidescrolling shooter experienced by implementing exploration as a main feature, unlike other games it dropped you into an empty world without any guidence where you had to find your own way through.

My first experience with the Metroid Franchise was Metroid Fusion, which was the default Demo game at GBA stations, and even after playing only 15 minutes of that game I was hooked. Later that year I managed to find a copy of that game (really rare in Portugal somehow) and was blown away by it's fusion of exploration and clever puzzles. Ever since then I pursued every single metroid game, having played them all apart from Hunters. It is a series unlike any other and I can only look forward to the next entry in the series.

From the original, to the 2D masterpiece of Super, to the revolution of Prime, ending in the sidestep of Team Ninja, Metroid has always been an excellent series without a single game being classified as "bad".

My favourite moments of the series are a mix of the regular and the not so heard of. My nº1 moment is, without a doubt, the moment you discovered Adam was the computer in Metroid Fusion, mostly because you were never expecting to hear the famous phrase coming otu of the hal-like PC. The sacrifice of teh baby is the second spot, with all the other ones being from the prime series. The entrance to Phendrana drifts was pretty awesome, as was the Prime battle. The first encounter with Dark Samus in Echoes was also prety intense, and to this date i still think the Light suit is the best suit yet. Prime 3 had the most share of increadible moments: The fight down the shaft with Ridley, working with other hunters, every single bounty hunter fight (Rundas was particulary memorable, if not for the music), the bombing of the pirate's homeworld and finally, Phaaze and the final battle with Dark Samus and the Aurora's. Good stuff there.

And so I ask, what are your thoughts about this long lasting series, and what are your favourite moments?

And here I end this entry, Happy Birthday Metroid, Happy birthday Samus, Here's hoping for another 25 strong years!

Finally, after months and months of waiting, the 3DS is finally here. Well, at least in Europe. So, I've been tinkering with it since 11:00 am to 3:00 pm GMt time, and here is what I've gathered so far:

-The battery life is, as expected, pretty bad. I've not yet ran complete comparisons, as it is charching right now, but the battery life is drasticly improved with the Wifi turned off (really really noticeable), and will extend a bit more once you turn the 3D off, but the 3D off didn't extend as much as the wifi off.

-The 3D is really amazing. Your eyes take 1-2seconds to adapt, but once they do be prepared for a treat. You can't shake the console a lot, but it's not like you would anyways. It really adds to some games (mostly pilotwings which i got to try in the store, and i feel star fox will be just stunning when it arrives), and to others it's just a very cool effect (SSF4 for example).

-The bundled software is also pretty decent. Face raiders is a bit tacky, and be prepared to have some odd looks if you play that in public, but the AR games are really great.

-The mii maker is hilarious, in a sense it never gets your face right if you use the inner camera. If you are not happy with the result, just add a few improvements manually.

-I didn't get to try online, i was too busy raging at M-Bison and his cheapness.

So yeah, it's pretty impressive.I personally only got to buy SSF4, but I should buy Pokemon black and either Rayman or Splinter Cell next week, after i get my pay check. I'd definatly reccomend buying one for three reasons: It has a few great titles in the horizon; It won't drop price anytime son (my parents, who loathe videogames, were fascinated with the mii maker and 3D in general, the "casual" crowd will eat this up); and to top it off, if you buy one now you get the lauch promotions, i got mine as a gift from a recent scolarship, but my parents did get it with 10% discount and 50% discount on the first game i buy, plus a free bag à la GBA.

It's definatly not perfect, and i'll be looking forward for a better battery life (i think nikyo is planning one), but if you are into the games that were announced, it's fine as it is. Just remember to turn the wifi off.

Should you have any questions about it, feel free to ask in the comments below.

Now if you excuse me, it has finished charging

    Demoli's top 10
    Generation V Pokémon

Like many of you may or may not have heard, the 5th Generation os Pokemon were released in Japan about 2 months ago. Months of discussion and speculations were finally satisfied by Game Freak who, in my opinion, provided us the best Pokemon Game since Gen 2.

And that's the core of this list, because with a good Gen come very good designs. This Gen wasn't Shabby on these. It pleased both competitive players and not-so-serious players.

In case anyone wants to see other animated sprites, check this site

Since the horrible intro is over, let's get on with this list, and present my top 10 favourite pokemon of Generation V

    Number 10
    Muraando

Muraando is the final evolution of what is, basicly, this Gen's Rattata. Difference being, it is actually very decent. Sure, it won't break any records or surpass the likes of Salamence competitivly, but it's the design that stands out. It's a FREAKING YORKIE WITH 'STACHE STAND STRETCHES TO IT'S HIND LEGS. I dunno if it's only that, but there's something that draws me to it.

    Number 9
    Reshiram

Yeah, i actually placed a legendary on the list. It's the only one i'll put here though, and rightfully. Ireally like this design. It has this wierd mistique of ancient dragons. plus, when he is really angry, his tail ignites into a strong flame. Plus, his special is pretty increadible. Comtetitivly, it's one of the best. Sure, he isn't Kyogre or Mewtwo, but he can hold it's own with his massive special attack and type coverage. His speed is kinda of a bummer though.

    Number 8
    Agirudaa

Clam Ninja is awesome. I know Scyther, Scizor, Grovyle and Ninjask were also suposed to be ninjas, but none were pulled of as successfully as Agirudaa. The eyes, the shell, the fake arms, the scar. It's sooo well done. Competitivly, i heard it's one of the best Leads out there, sometimes being a major annoyance.

    Number 7
    Denchura

I freakin hate spiders. Even in pokemon, that ariados fella was awefull. But Denchura? It is increadible. Those blue spikes on the back, all those eyes and the bulky appearence make it look appealing somewhat. When things get real, it's also very decent. It's ability, plus access toThunder and other special moves let it fire powerfull strikes that cover many threats. It isn't very spread, but it's usable.

    Number 6
    Desukan

Aaaand things get creepy! Desukan is so wierd it's good. Specially in motion. It has an unique ability that can screw up many things, and it can rarely help other ones. But look at it's looks! Bright and cheery and at the same time so dark and eery. Just increadible. I really like his smile in particular.

    Number 5
    Shandeera

Aaaaah, the candle. Don't you love this thing. It is a really well done pokemon, because it literally feels like a Fire-Ghost pokemon. The one to have the brilliant idea to use a chandelier for this deserves several awards. Competitivly, it's a beast. No way around it. It has the ability to trap other pokemon, and KO them without a thingle scratch, and if you don't have a Pursuit user or are lucky enough to survive a hit, you're doomed. Thats it.

    Number 4
    Kirikizan

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0KOfTV1dbc

    Number 3
    Urugamosu

Mothra is in this game. That alone should be able to convince you, but in case it isn't, just hear, or rather, look. It is so bringh coloured, yet it feels threatening. I think it's the wings and the lower abdomen, so big and imposing. It has a massive speciall attack and access to two powerfull moves: Butterfly Dance and Fire Dance. These can effectivly turn the tables around, and with enough time, it can sweep an entire team.

    Number 2
    Futachimaru

I don't like mijumaru, or even Daikenki for that matter, but Futachimaru really breathes the idea the creator was trying to pass: A samurai Otter. Hell, just look at it! It is the enbodiment of badassitude. The menacing eyes, the pose, the shells, the wierd fur on the back of it's head. The teeth. So awesome. When it comes into the field, at least on serious battles, it won't do much, because not only isn't he fully evolved, as he doesn't have that great of a movepool either. Still, his coolness factor is one of the best in the series!

Well, it's time for number, which new pokemon can surpass these already listed?

Well, who the hell do you think it is?

    Number 1
    Wargle

Hell yes! Wargle is the [cabbage]! It is the Chuck Norris of Pokemon, the everlasting design, the symbol of Generation V. The indian head, the bright colours, the menacing look, and the cutest pre-evolution ever, Wargle remains the best pokemon os Gen 5. Not in the competitive play though, as he isn't up to notch to the likes of Metagross and Salamence, but he can handle it's own in UU, and with enough support, it might even fight back some of the major threats, like the Candle <.< .

    Cutest Pokemon below:

    [hide][/hide]

Unfortunatly, many pokemon were left out, some of wich i really like, such as Onokoruzo, Sazandora, Doryuzzo, Borungero and Waruvial, but the list only has 10 spots, and here they are.

Fell free to share your opinion on this list on the comments below, share your personal favourites, or even make your personally list in response of this one.

That being said, also feel free to hop on the TET bus someday and enjoy our great variety of events and activites we organize each Weekend. A link to our forums can be found here.

Side note: I will not make another top 10 list until i finish some IRL and TET stuff, plus a little sujrprise I'm organizing, feel free to leave ideas though.

Videogames always had good music, and everyone has their favourites.

This list I'm making however, will be different from other lists i made. It will have MUCH less talk, in fact, it will have almost none. The best way to demonstrate how good a song/theme is is not blabbering about it.

That being said, this is Demoli's Top 10 Favourite Videogame Themes.

    Number 10
A pirate i was meant to be- Curse of Monkey Island

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-9my0tsutw&feature=related
    (skip to 2:40)

One of the funniest games around, Curse of Monkey Island also has one of the funniest songs in gaming. This is one of those themes that incapsules the game itself. It witty and humorous, just how a Monkey Island theme should be. Well Done!

    Number 9
    Ending Theme- Pokemon Black&White

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj5h60tnRvM

So okay, pokemon Black and White were only released in Japan for the time being, but the Ending theme is just sooo good. It also seems to convey the feeling that Pokemon has seen some real evolution for the last 10 or so years (let's face it, apart from copetitive changes, pokemon has remained the same).

    Number 8
    Terra's Theme- Final Fantasy 6

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joRZL671Esk&feature=related

Another series with a great musical reputation is the Final Fantasy series. It was not an easy choice picking up Terra's theme, but it ultimately triumphed over the ones of Victory theme and One Winged Angel. It sets the mood right in the beggining of the game, and never lets it drop.

    Number 7
    Ridley- Metroid Other M

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBMSZpWPvDI

As i noted on my Metroid Other M review, Other M has a lackluster soundtrack. Everything takes a "ambience" approach. But then there's Ridley. For the first time ever orchestrated, Ridley's theme never sounded better. It is action pumped and makes you wana rip him apart. After you have finished having a psychological colapse...

    Number 6
    Final confrontation- Super Mario Galaxy

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIuvjG3Egjo

THIS is how you make a good boss theme. First, the ominous and grandious drums and male choir. Then the killer strings. Top it off with an escalating combination of both and there you go. I was not expecting such a theme on a Mario game, but hey, I'm not complaining.

Fun Fact: This was the spot wher i had the most trouble deciding which theme to place here. SMW theme, Gusty Gardens, Buoy Base, Bobomb battlefield, Slide, Delfino Plaza and Final Confrontation 2 are all themes an inch below this theme.

    Number 5
    Meridian Dance- Secret of Mana

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCfedAxfet0

Another absolutely great boss fight, the Mana beast also had one of the best themes in existence. I don't know why, but everything just... fits in with the fight. I really can't add more, because this music is just... Natural.

    Number 4
    Still alive- Portal

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ljFaKRTrI

I'll be honest, i never really "adored" any Valve Game apart from Portal. I knew they were good, but i just couldn't get into them. Now portal was one of those game changers. And this theme pretty much sums the game. Not only that, but it also has this inocent voice singing acts that would be considered terrorist by anyone in modern society. It just adds up for so much.

    Number 3
    Big Blue- F-Zero X

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvwgkhjVM7w&feature=related

I have this wierd thing with racing games. I enjoy them, but i suck at them. And F-Zero... is not a begginers racing game. It always had some rockin tunes though, being Big Blue my favourite. It seems as if it represents the entire racing Genre. It's so dynamic and powerfull it deserves to be this high.

    Number 2
    Frog's Theme- Chrono Trigger

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caRKvQAyU7M

Aaaah, Chrono Trigger. One of the best games ever, and my personal choice of best RPG ever, also had one of the best soundtracks. The Frog's theme always stood out thanks to the situations it was applied, where it always transmited this Huge sense of courage and strengh, motivating you to push further. The best thing is, it seems as if this theme is the embodyment of RPG's in Music. Courage, Adventure, power, emotion, it's all in here. Truly a Masterpiece.

    Number 1
Overworld/Legend of Zelda theme- The Legend of Zelda (every single one)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbpXsdihJqc&feature=related

I bet you saw it coming. But there is no denial TLoZ theme is one of, if not THE most recognizable themes. It is the perfect embodiment of everything a Game can have. Joy. Fear Grandness. Adventure. It is, at least to me, the theme that represents this whole industry. It has been remade countless times throughout history, but my favourites are still the one from Link to the Past and SSBB. Specially since Twilight Princess and Wind Waker featured other main themes.

And there you go, feel free to comment on this list, make your own and subscribe to my blog. Also make any request you want for future Top 10's/Reviews below in the comments and i'll see if i can make those.
  5. Demoli
Hi everybody, this will be a very brief and concise Blog post.

First, i pardon the abscence of Top 10 lists recently, i have been 100% completing a few games, aswell as getting my carachter in RS ready for the bonus experience weekend. In case you are wondering, i'll train herblore for most of the time, starting off with a very fast farming run, which should give me around 79 farming.

Now, for the meat of the post.

First of all, let me insert a shameless Plug around here. I've been planning this event for a while, and I'd like if anyone reading this attended it. All the necessary details should be present in the shameless plug link i posted.
If you are a recurrent TET attendee though, I can say something very, VERY, VERY big will be announced at the event.

To conclude this post, i want to State i will post a review in the time frame of two weeks of the Upcoming game "Metroid Other M". From the reviews recently posted in such sites as IGN, Gametrailers, Gamespot and 1Up, it seems I will be moderatly to completely and utterly disapointed, since I also ranked Metroid Other M as my Most Anticipated game as of now (plug plug plug plug plug ok I'll stop)

So, as i told you, this was a very short entry. Expect something ramdom either next week or a full review of Metroid Other M a few weeks from now. Because Portugal takes about 3 extra weeks to get new games. I waited 6 months for No More Heroes 2 that's for sure.

As a last note remember, check out and attend my Pirates vs Ninjas event. (plug.. yeah, i caked)
  6. Demoli
Hi everybody! Sorry for me big vanishing lately, it was a rather harsh combination of exams, monster hunter and event creating.

Nevertheless, E3 was a month ago and i got to check all the press conferences but ubisoft in live stream and checked all the coverage. Wow. How can we tell what to expect for next year until E3?

So this list will be entirely dedicated to those games that i just can't wait to play.

But before i start off this list, I'd like to make some things clearer:

    a) I AM a big Nintendo fan, so don't be all surprised when more than 2 places of list are filled with these games.

    B) Only confirmed games will be listed, as much as i want a GTA Vice City 2.

    c) I own a 360 and a Wii, but i play PS3 regulary, so that might affect the list.

That being said, lets start shall we?

    Number 10
    Dead Space 2

I am not a big fan of horror games, but the original Dead Space was a fresh take on the horror games boast. Like any regular gamer who just picked up an Horror game, i started aiming for the head. Boy wat a mistake. Dead Spece was without a doubt one of the best Horror game i haver ever played (unless you count RE4 as an horror game).

And if the trailers are anything to go by the sequel looks even better. I really hope EA doesn't screw this franchise up, specially as early as the first numbered sequel.

    Number 9
    Pokemon Black/White

There are only 3 franchises I am nostalgic about: Pokemon, Donkey Kong and GTA. All of them gave me gigantic disappointments over the years, being GTA's migration to face front realism throwing out the goofiness or Donkey Kong starting to suck.

My disappointment of Pokemon was diferent. The series hasn't changed radically, but that is the thing: It hasn't changed at all. Every new installement seems like an expansion pack to the prior game. It doesn't take any risks.

Black and White seem to be taking those risks though. This game looks like it will actually have a plot, dealing with abusing pokemons fighting abilities for benefit of mankind. Selfish benefits... Like someone said on another forums, real life pokemons would be regarded as rooster fights, and Gamefreak is going to explore that new territory.

In gameplay mechanics, not much has been said, but Game Freak guaranteed there will be a big overhaul, and now even the monster will be moving all the time instead of just being stale the whole fight. That can be regarded as a minus, since now the sprites aren't that pretty :?

All that aside, i can't wait for B&W, too bad it will only come out next year...

    Number 8
    Kirby's Epic Yarn

This game is full of charm. There is no denying. But what makes this game stand out for me (apart from the visuals) is the way gameplay is completely diferent from other kirby games. Sure, you can transform into other things, but this time you dont eat your enemies. Only a diferent variation of suck and throw is available. You can't infinite jump either, only a regular jump and a glide.

Not only that, but the interaction with the environment seems like an increadible idea, and i specially like how he can sow pieces of cloth together to shorten gaps or ull strings to open new passageways. Kirby, it's good to have you back

    Number 7
    Limbo

If there is one word to describe Limbo, It's creepy. A good replacement would be original. Limbo is a puzzle platformer who revolves around the regular promise of getting to the flag pole alive, but it's how limbo gets there that gets my attention. The design and art of the game itself hides the answers in devious ways, and the traps in devilish ways. What looks like background can be an instant kill obstacle in your next step.

The reason this is so low in my list is the controls. From what i get from the trailers, the jumping controls and physics seem similar to LBP, and that is not a good thing. The original LBP was a platformer where jumping was hard. That is definatly a flaw.

Still, moody and original, Limbo is a solid number 7

    Number 6
    NBA Jam

I love arcade games, and back then, i loved even more those kind of sports games, never taking themselves too serious. However, the spark got lost in time. They seemed to be adding gimmicks and subtrackting what made the series good.

With this game, they seem to be returning to their roots, which is an increadible thing. Maybe Jam wil revitalise the arcade sports game genre like SSF4 revived the fighting genre.

Heres hoping to Jam, see you in a few months

    Number 5
    Epic Mickey

A mickey mouse game designed by the masterm, ind of Deus Ex and Thief? Count me in!

Epic Mickey seems to be taking the aproach of "Good and Evil", but instead of going to the extremes of Devil and Jesus Christ, it's kinda gradual, and the game is design to help you play the way you want. If you prefer to destroy, then green whisps will appear and destroy things for you. If you prefer to create, blue whisps will appear and help you befriend the enemies.

That is another point, the enemies, when befriended, are able to attack other enemies so you don't have to have your hands dirty.

Like any wii game, I am worried about the controls, not only that, but haveing to created alternate paths to every action seems to take a lot of space in the disks, so the game might be shortened.

Either way, i can't wait for Epic Mickey, I'm sure Spector will do it again

    Number 4
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

To be completely honest, i was disappointed by the new Zelda. I don't know if it was the tease of another realistic zelda last year or the glitch in the live Demo (ha, see what i did here?), but it just didn't string that "I'll kill for one copy" this time. I think the main reason was the fact no gameplay change was shown. Sure, motion plus is nice, but you don't get to try it out for ourselves until the release date.

Now onto the good stuff: Art direction: Fantastic! While I think Twilight Princess was the best Zelda, Wind Waker had the best personality and art direction, and combining these 2 games is a nice touch many fans will appreciate.

Items: Again, not much was shown here. Still, there were lots of spaces to be filled, so apart from the boomerang and hookshot, I would like to see the return of the Dominion Rod, which had a giant ammount of potencial which was not utilised. The whip looks great and i am glad to finally see the sword beam in a 3D Zelda.

Plot: This game seems to be about 2 diferent lands, but unlike the light/dark concept Nintendo loves to explore, it sems to have a sky island/ land mass thing going on. Definatly interesting on how this will turn out.

    Number 3
    Donkey Kong Country Returns

I'll confess, this one is mainly Nostalgia. The hours i spent playing DKC on the gamboy are only compared to my Pokemon Gold save.

The moment Reggie said at Nintendo's press conference that retro was working on something new and the DKC theme started playing, i knew i would buy this game day 1. Being produced by Retro studios, creators of the Metroid Prime Series, only increases this urge. There were some awesome moments in the trailer, like the sunset level and boss battle, but it's return of Donkey and Diddy that makes this title magical.

Retro is now finishing the work Rare started (and almost destroyed), and if the Prime trilogy is any indication, they will do aaaaaalright.

    Number 2
    The Last Guardian

Definatly my biggest disapointments in this year's E3 was the abcense of The Last Guardian. Those Sony bastards could have sacrificed 10 friggin minutes of the Move filler, or just don't even say a word about the coke partnership and Marcus advertising campaign to at the very least show a trailer. But noooooooooooooooooo. Let's keep the second biggest surprise of last year's E3 to 2011 >:[

Ranting aside, from the moment i saw the trailer, i was hooked. I loved Shadow of the Colossus (i really hated ICO though), and seeing this gigantic beast, which spoiler alert is going to die, made me feel kinda sorry for those giant I repeatedly stabbed in SotC.

About the gameplay, I'm sceptical. It seems to be a fusion of ICO (bad) with SotC (godly). I just hope it manages to keep it's focus throughout the experience on the Beast, and not deviate into backtories about the kid and such.

On one last note, I'm really disapointed on how this game won't be coming out this year, or maybe even the next! Still, I must play this game, even if I have to steal my friend's PS3

And... my nº1 most expected game is.....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNaZedAWmlE
    Boy i love this video

    The Game

    Number 1
    METROID: OTHER M

That's right, Metroid Other M is the game i am looking forward the most, and the fact it's almost out only makes matters worst!

If you know me, you know Super Metroid is to me what Jesus is to believers. It's the game that got everything right. Story, gameplay, environment, grafics (that still hold to this date), non linearity, control, challenge, creativity, secret tecniques, the whole package.

Other M looks like super Metroid: But flashier, better, with melee attacks and counters. And a deeper look at Samus' past. The thing that still makes me want this even more is that we still don't know much about the rest of the game. Every other games usually spoil much of the plot ages before the release, but about Other M we only know it's after Super Metroid and will explore Samus' past. It is *hinted* that it will ahve scenes after Fusion, like some save stations and certain carachters, bnut again, nothing is shown face fronted.

So Metroid Other M (anagram for mother by the way) is my most expected game as of now.

So, what are your most expected games and what do you think about my list?

As for the TET event attendeed, i give you this treat:

Demoliboy2's top 10 boss fights in Videogames

Aaah boss fights, what we are all waiting for when playing most games. Some are increadible and other dissapointing. But I'm writing this to honour those who are rememberable for all eternity.

Everything will be taken in account: Music, gameplay and challenge. Most of all, the fun-factor though.

Also, please remember i'll not stick to the "One x per franchise", if a Franchise has 3 awesome boss fights then i'll honour them all.

    Lets get started shall we?

    Number 10
    Nomad - Runescape

Let's start with runescape, Nomad is a beast. Period.

It is not a genetic modified monster, it's not a mutant, it's not a god. It's a warrior just like you obcessed with his secret.

He has all gadgets to stop you and will put a phenomenal fight. Now people have an easy life with all those guides floating around, but back in the release day, we were shocked, SHOCKED to see the strenght of this man. It was only comparable to Corporeal beast, but this time possible and fun.

Nomad, congratulations, you won this place.

    Number 9
    Bowser- Super Mario Galaxy

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIBhc97FECw

Bowser had many chances to beat Mario, and his try in mario Galaxy wasn't properly it's hardest fight, but it was the most amusing. Why? Let's check then:

    1. Best. Music. Ever.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_VZo01MWYo

It still gives me the chills.

    2. Awesome stage, specially the Volcano Sphere section.

    3. He Actually Dies in this Fight! (He is ressurrected though)

Bowser, your a mafia king (there will be brawl reference yay!), but 9 is good enought for you.

    Number 8
The Mana Beast- Secret of Mana (denkei densetsu 2)

Entering 16-bit territory now, Secret of Mana had some of the best boss Fights in history. Too bad some where just pallet swaps of past challenges...

But not the Mana Beast oh no. the Mana beast was humoungus (sp?). It was invulnerable to everything but the Mana sword. It had level 8 spells (you can only go up to lv 7 without cheating) and a kick-[wagon] sprite.

    But the best? the Music:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Vo6hTc5on0

Between this and the Final Bowser theme in Mario Galaxy is a fierce rivalary for who has the best theme. And it's no easy choice either.

    Number 7
    Barroth- Monster Hunter Tri

Monster Hunter is a franchise designed around boss battles. In fact, thats what the games are about. You muscle through 5 hours of boring fetch quests and you are presented with your first boss fight, and it's awesome. And hard. And rewarding. And REALLY hard.

The barroth is nowhere near the first boss, in fac, he is more of a mod stage boss. But man, that guy's a [wagon]. Here is a guy fighting him for example:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuxnjUduG7w

Notice that charge attack? It's increadibly fast and hard to avoid, and takes a crapton of health if it hits. But the worse part? After you injure him he starts doing that 3 times in a row, EVEN IF IT CONNECTS. And it's awefull to loose a fight with that cheap strategy. When i finally killed him i felt like destroying the corpse with my bare hands and wear his head as a trophy. Mind, he is only here thanks to the challenge and gameplay, there isn't nothing that special about him other then that.

PS: I once was a hit or two from finishing it when he comboed me from full health to dead. And yes it was my last continues. And yes it sucked.

    Number 6
Giant Enemy Crab- Metal Slug 3

It's a Giant Enemy Crab! With Guns! and other smaller Enemy Crabs! Nazi! What is there else to say?!?

    Number 5
    Gannon- Zelda Series

Instead of clogging up the first half of the list to this guy I'll just put all of them in one spot. EVERY ganon fight was awesome. Great Music. Great Strategies. Great fun. Some of them even have cool glitches like the fishing rob in TP.

Also, he always had a great design. My favourite still is the one in TP, but both LttP and WW were very awesome. OoT was alright, but not an hallmark if you ask me.

And he is only weak to sacred blades and silver arrows! So must either be a god or Richie Rich to beat him. Hero of time also works though.

Anyways, gannon, congratulations, you made it.

    Number 4
    Akuma- Street Fighter 2/4/Alpha3

Sp you become addicted in Street Fighter, spend all your quarters on Arcades and one day you menage to get to the Final Boss, M.Bison, without even taking a hit from any of your oponents.

Suddently a flash appears on screen and M.Bison is dead. What happened? Akuma apeared.

He is strong. He is Fast. His special takes a whole bunch of your life bar. He is a Real challenge. Without any comparisson to any of the fighters in the roster.

He has been nerfed further and further during the evolution of the Street Fighter Franchise, but these 4 games have the best representation of him imo, choose your favourite.

    Number 3
    Lagiarcus- Monster Hunter Tri

Let's come back to Monster Hunter shall we? So, you just get access to a new area, you find your first boss in it and you discover its a semi-clone of your first boss.

Then you comeback to the village, and Lagiarcus is on the run again. First you only need to scoff him off. THEN you need to kill it. It took me 45 minutes, always begging for my life, to finish this beast. It was fun throughout the time, without getting stale.

But why is this boss so high on the list? Because it was friggin hard. Not barroth Hard mind you, where he just kept spamming one attack until he took you down, Lagiarcus was a beast of all proportions.

Boasting an increadible design, lagiarcus really felt like the king of the seas, and made you work for his death. I only managed to kill him in time (both quest timer and potions running out) thanks to his large time underwater, where it was easier to evade thanks to the bigger freedom of movement. and the armour? Well, its awesome:

Lagiarcus, i had a great time with you, but the following are just better:

    Number 2
    Omega Ridley- Metroid Prime 3

Ridley is a Boss Symbol in the Metrois Series. There isn't any Metroid game apart from Prime 2, Hunters and return of Samus without him. And you know what's more impressive? He always puts up a nice challenge.

No matter how well do you know his attack patterns and his weaknesses he always is one step ahed of you.

Metroid Prime 3 had 2 Ridley fights, 1 of them in a shaft with a meters countdown before you were squated on the ground.

Omega Ridley is the ultimate form of Ridley: a Cibernetic-Phazon-Enhaced-Fire-Dragon with guns and an awesome chest plate. He would charge at you, he would drop bgombs he would disapear only to comeback in earthquake form. And the theme? perfect for him:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfBg_PO_O5c

Why isn't it at number 1? two reasons:

    1. The number 1 deserves it more

    2. It's theme isn't either of these:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk-WRQu1DcY
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz15YmBFdMs

Ridley, you are great, but you know who's better?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNaZedAWmlE

    Number 1
    Trainer Red- Pokemon Gold/Silver/Remakes

So you just complete this beast of game that is Pokemon Gold, you finish beating Green (YES, GREEN, blue is the girl <.< ).

Then, professor Oak Tells you Mt.Silver is now acessible. And there you go, you finally find Sneasels, Misdreavus and Larvitars.

You finish climbing the mounts and what do you find in the summit? Pokemon Trainer Red. Holy [cabbage] !

He... is a challenge. Every pokemon is at level 80 or more, he has all the Kanto Starters, he has Espeon, he has Snorlax.

You know whats the worse? you need HM's to reach him, so you reach him with a few crappy pokemons. Also, every single trainer you~faced so far had the best pokemon in lower 70's, and now he gets all the 80's? And one pikachu at 90? Wow.

He is also one of the few selected who aparently have a mind and swtch pokemon when they are chance-less (ex: pikachu facing a golem)

And the theme? Filled with suspense and energy, perfect for the situation and without any kind of competition in battle themes, THIS is the ultimate champion theme:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbXOyXaJJBc&feature=related

But apart from these reasons, why is it in first?

    1. HE IS NOT ASH: Aleluia, just because he has a pikachu doesn't mean is his the [kitten] of the cartoon who uses bad pokemon. He is an incredible trainer with beast trained to do whatever he wants, and he has no regrets.

    2. He is so cool he never says a word. One could say he is the chuck norris of pokemon.

    3. He is the trainer you commanded in pokemon gen1, how cool is that.

And he only has one flaw: the pikachu. Seriously Game Freak, you could have placed a aichu or an Electabuzz, even an Ampharos, but a pikachu? Bad choice...

Anyways, this was my top 10 bosses in Videogames, feel free to comment, write your own list in reply and suggest new top 10's.

This has been Demoliboy2, Tip.It's unnofficial priest of Guthix.

PS: I've been largely abcent due to Monster Hunter Tri, and probably will be for a while. Also, exams are closing in.
  8. Demoli
Demoliboy2's most wanted updates of 2010

Updates is what drives Runescape forward, but JaGeX is always so secretive about their future plans they almost don't tell us anything about their future releases.

So this entry is to scale my most wanted updates i wish JaGeX releases this year. They are by no means certain and some aren't even mentioned (things i just wished they were implemented). Anyways, here we go:

    Number 10

    Dungeoneering Batch 2

Dungeoneering was a let down for me. But know what else was? Summoning. And look at summoning now, it's runescape's best skill by many, an certainly the most usefull.

How did this happened? Batch 2 came out. A whole bunch of improvement happened and made summoning what it is today. That's why i am waiting for dungeoneering batch 2. Not only to review it here, but to see how can further improvement make this a genuine skill!

Lowering the tokens, or even completely removing them would be a ncie step. Adding more bosses, mroe floors, MORE DNGEONS, rewards other then items/prayers is all i want, and i hope it abides. I also want benefits outside deamon heim, someone even made some nice guesses in the new skill thread, check them out.

anyways, this is very low due to the recentness of the skill, and i dont personaly enjoy it that much, but tis still a solid 10.

    Number 9

    Firemaking update

You heard me. I WANT FM TO BE USEFULL. I have 99 in it because i wanted to relax and got it eventually. But you know when i discovered it was useless? When i got 500k exp over 99 and i got upped 25k RANKS! In no other skill this happens.

Firemaking is, in pretty much everything but the adze, worthless. There is no practical use for it. Before there were very few ranges, so it had some use. But it still was very little else then a woodcutting ad-on.

We need new ash equipment, blessed fires and on. There is so much untapped potencial it is almost unbearable. I WANT IT NAO!

But i like other things, and thats why this is only at 9

    Number 8

    Next Myreque quest

Teased that it won't be the last Myreque, I can't wait for this quest. Legacy of Seergaze ended in a cliffhanger (one of the biggest, spirit of summer is still the biggest).

We might even have an Iceyene in our beards (or moustache if your a lady), Draken is still harvesting humans and half of the Myreque is dead.

Also, meyerditch is still a ghetto, and bourgh de Rott is still, well, rott. We need more silver weapons and to star our plans to terminate those balance-upsetting vampires.

I WANT TO KILL DRAKEN, but lets settle for nº 8 ok?

    Number 7

    New way to train Runecrafting

Runecrafting is boring, at least for me and a lot more players. Profitable, but slow.

We need a faster method of training runecrafting. Or more amusing at least. Like a Polibinding altar that gives you a new type of rune. Like, lets say, a catalytic rune. whaaaaa? you might be asking. Listen well:

a polymental altar that gives you elemental runes and a polymitical altar that gives catalytic runes. You would need 5 of each elemental runes to create an elemental rune and 3 of each non elemental runes (bar astral) to create a single catalytic rune. These would be untradeable. Wouldnt that be a nice update?

How about a new kind of rune? Apocalyptical rune. For what you say? this:

    Number 6

    New spellbook

We are well due to a new spellbook. An Elite spellbook. Even the contemporary spellbook someone suggested here on Tip.it.

And make it f2p, they need a huge magical update. Make the spellbook only for lv 75+ so they keep the good stuff exclusive to high levels.

How about elemental finishers? And making Wave spells F2P aswell as lowering its requirements. Make a Hydrogen tornado, hitting 45 and lowering strenght and prayer, a Hydro Tsunami hitting 38's and pushing targets 2 squares away (2h speed), a Stone Edge, hitting 40's and having a 1/10 chance of stunning, an Inferno Spin, hitting everything around you for up to 30 and your target for 55's. Make a new staff, imbued in all altars (including ZMI and the others) that gives 25% damage and enable you to use the spell Apocalyptic Eclipse, hitting up to 75 and only usable once every 10 minutes if your special bar is full.

Man this would be awesome. But i am no mager, so this must be a bit low... number 6 it is

    Number 5

    The Void Knight Storyline

Read the developer blog before you read this.

As yuo all know, I am Tip.it's unnofficial priest of guthix, and the void knights are one of my favourite communities. Not because of their hawt equipment, but because they actually do something for other people. They are most likely the less sellfish people on Gielinor!

They are isolated on that island, and they dont have any contact with the outside bar the ocasional mail-parrot and the greedy outsiders seeking their equipment.

They DESERVE at least a quest, but 3 is even better, bring it on you Newbie J Mod, give us your best!

    Number 4

The conclusion of the Elves Storyline

Aaaah the Elves. Not the followers of Elvis, but those trap laying agility expert and crystal wielding beings.

They have great quests with great challenges and great storylines, but everything thats good must come to an end. And mourning Ends Saga is at it's peak, so everyone is waiting for Mourning Ends part 3. WE NEED IT. WE NEED A CHALLENGE OTHER THEN HARD BOSSES. We need a Nomad level puzzle.

And the Elves are the best for it. Leave us amazed JaGeX, make your best and give us what we want. Until then, you this will remain in nº 4.

    Number 3

    Smithing and Mining Rework

These skills are old. As old as Runescape itself. Yet, so little has happened to these skills outside of minigames.

They absolutely NEED to make a great update to these dead skills, they have great potential yet none is tapped.

New ores, new armour, fusing ores, adding insignias to the armour and weapons. HECK JUST DO SOMETHING!

When i was a newbie in RS, i never bought any armour, i mined and smithed my own. Until i was a lv 90 member, i only hadadamant helms, plate and rune legs, all bought from either stores or obtained as a drop. This isn't like this now thanks to the G.E., but it still needs some work done, they are basicly status symbols/dead skills now.

Give us this now, we know you have it, it's one of the few updates you confirmed, and we hope it will make these skills in what herblore was made: increadible.

    Number 2

    When Guthix Awakens

Yeah, the title is a spoof, but While Guthix Sleeps was yet another cliffhanger. even worse, a Cliffhanegr filled with corpses of memorable NPC's (Hazelmere  ) and an amazing storyline.

We all were amazed, and left wondering for more.

But more didn't come for another 2 whole years. Bummer.

Make this quest now JaGeX, i am begging, everyone is asking for it, you have the resources. Just make it already!

I want to slaughter Lucien, gut Movario and speak to Guthix itself.

I want new bosses, new areas, heck make a new skill ponly for thsoe who complete the quest! but just amaze us like you did months ago.

Guthix, you know i idolize and love you, please awaken us from this mahjarrat filled nightmare and save us. Let me make you number 1.

    and the number one is.......

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNaZedAWmlE

    Number 1

    Combat Rework!

    YES!
    YES! YES! YES!
WE ABSOLUTELY NEED A COMBAT REWORK!

What i suggested earlier about Magic was just the beggining, there are many more fixes:

Completely rework defence! Make it like your defence level divided by half is your chance of deflecting 15% of the damage they inflict you. Not overpowered and usable in PvP, but not overused in PvM (unless you like to tank tormented demons)..

Ranged KO weapons, only Dark Bow is a relieable ranged KO weapon. We need MOAR. Handcannons are also nice, but they can blow up in your face. Godsword don't blow up on you and they pack a bigger punch.

Melee nerf: Not too big, but it needs to happen. GodSwords are very overpowered at the moment, and we just got new chaotic equipment! Something needs to be done.

Defence level boosting/ contitution boosting/mage damage boosting/range damage boosting armour: This is a must, specially the constitution and defence boosting ones. Take time developing these however, one wrong digit might upset the balance.

Give negative melee attack bonuses to dragon hide armour, *not* karil: Melee armour gives negative mage and ranged attack bonuses, why not the reverse? Armadyl got it right, it just need a few tweaks. Heck, even give them a damage reduction. Make the same to mage armour.

These are just to name a few possible changes, there could be so much more i couldnt even think off, but one thing is certain: We need this overhaul, and we need it now. We know its coming. And we want it bad. JaGeX, take your time, but for guthix sake give us this  .

So, this is my list of the most wanted updates for this year, feel free to write a comment to argue/agree with my list, or even make your own as a reply, but at least make a comment on this one ;)

This has been Demoliboy2, tip.it's unnofficial priest of Guthix
  9. Demoli
Today I achieve my 2nd great Goal in RS, buying a Saradomin GodSword of my own.

As you can imagine i spent all day using it in slayer, and it is awesome. It will have many more uses though, specially at Dagganoth Kings and Tormented Demons: My favourite bosses.

In another small note, i've created a thread in which i request a Avatar artwork, if you are interested in such please go to this thread and send your application work ;)
    Thanks in advance.

I WILL make another "top x" later on, maybe during/after today's TET event, the last on in this F2P month. The event can be found here!

  Bring on the Fun
  10. Demoli
    Hello fellow readers!

This week, i'll Post a short "First Impressions" on the new skill, dungeoneering:

    Overview:
Dungeoneering is the much anticipated new skill, wich has been in development for quite sometime but does it make up for the hype?

One major letdown of this skill was on how self centred it is. You could never set foot on Deamonheim and feel no worse or better then the people around you who were. The skill only makes impact in outer world due to it's rewards, which are insanely high-end! But not the king of high-end summoning had when it was released oh no, it's due to a Token System. Allow me to explain.

In order to get some use out of the skill, you get tokens as you prgress through your exp, with these you can buy rewards. The problem is, the tokens are directly linked to you exp, 1token per 10 xp to be exact. And the lowest reward is a Gem bag at 13k tokens.

But here is the problem: 13k tokens is 130k exp, which is waaaaaaaaaaaaay higher then lv 21, the required level for these bags. Why did they even bothered with the level requirement then? The only instance i can see where you will get enough tokens (saving from the beggining) before reaching the level is for the chaotic weapons, and i'm sure you had spend some points on rewards, or got some exp from lamps. Why not remove the token system altoghether and give you the rewards based on monster drops, progression, and levels?

Now onto some good stuff: The skill is fun, and actually takes some skill. Sure some roms are repetitive, but most of them are just right and put up a ncie challenge the first run. The bosses are the highligh though: Full of variety, strategies and attacks, the bosses are genuinely fun, ii'm only lv 40 for now so i haven't seen much yet, but if what i saw is any indication, the latter ones are just increadible. Bad thing is: they drop nothing you can take to the outer world. Heck would it hurt if you could take your promenthium spear for an hour unil it degrades completely?

The graphics are pretty increadible, filled with detail and originality, and the opuzzles are actually smart too.

I'll hold myself from a review until jagex brings Dungeoneering batch nº2, since summoning was just crap the first month and turned into awesomeness the next month, i feel i should give this new skill a second chance, but for now, lets just call this "skill" and activity/minigame. And the name would be "Dungeons of Deamonheim". Wouldnt it be a lot better?

I might make another top 10 later on, but i wouldnt count on it

This has been Demoliboy2, still Tip.it's unnofficial priest of Guthix
  11. Demoli
    Demoliboy2's Top 10 Favourite quests

You see, i love questing. That is why i got members. That is why i train skills. Heck, sometimes that's why i hang to runescape one more month so i can see wich quest is coming.

That said, quest are awesome. Sme (most) are comical, ingenious and original. Some are serious. An odd couple is hard. In either way or another, quests are here to stay, and I'm writing to give hommage to my 10 favourite quests, the ones that have been marked in my memory and hopefully will be surpassed.

I will not rate the quests or make small additions, only true genuine quest that are here to stay, and are considered an hallmark for RS to me.

    Let's get started shall we?

    Number 10: Legend's Quest

Haw haw, no better way to start a top 10 quest list then talking about our dear Legend's.

This quest was the 50th quest to be released in RS, the last one to be released in classic i think! The good thing is unlike it's predecessor, Heroe's quest, this one managed to stand to the test of time. The charachters are memorable, the locals inspiring (fire octogon anyone?) and it all end with you reading the very own pole you got as proof of your actions. This is where the quests shines:

The totem reads "Heroes are Remembered, Legends never die".

THIS is a reward in itself. It made me progress in the game so i could keep proving the npc's I AM and i will always BE a legend. To be reassured as one of RS legends, Legend's quest made you work to be one, and shame on you if you used a guide because using that very guide took you part of the sense of accomplishment you would never forget.

Legend's, thanks for letting us now what we really are: Immortal Legends.

    Number 9- Nomad's Requiem

Being the second Grandmaster quest to be released in RS carried a great responsability, since it's predecessor was one of the best examples of how a quest should be pulled of.

Contrarily to the other GM quest, Nomad's Requiem was short. VERY short. I've completed intermediate quests that were longer than it (One Small Favour anyone?).

But it wasnt on the plot or the legth this quest primed, it was on the fun factor. Nomad is an absolute BEAST. he doesnt need special shields like corporeal beast or is immune to certain styles like Dagganoth mother. He was a warrior trained to horrify extremes. That said, he was a great fight.

Contrary to most bosses in RS, where you just flick a prayer and wait for the job to be done, with a hiccup or 2, Nomad made you work for it. He had several attack patters, avoidable attacks, was imune to poison, couldnt be safespotted and had an attack that would guarantee you a death if you were not in your prime health.

It was one of the best boss fights ever divised and certainly the hardest, and thanks to that, he's number 9. Now if zimberfizz could sell us those bottled souls...

Number 8- My Arm's Big Adventure

I'm a sucker for humour, and this quest absolutely NAILS humour.

You have to help a troll named My Arm. His name alone generates all sorts of funny dialogues, specially with captain Barnaby. Not only that, he said to you he dropped a full dragon set and an abyssal whip so he could eat an human more easily. He would trash tai bwo wannai. He would be lost, and he would beg for your help. Couple that with some gorgeous cutscenes and you got a win win. Oh, have i mentioned Burntmeat reward? Yeah, its awesome.

My arm, thanks for leting me complete My arm's big adventure so My arm's arm could plant more herbs for his fellow trolls arm don't dismember and eat me. Number 8 is yours

Number 7- Hunt for red raktober

Before anything else, Kudos to cold war. if it had been for that icy slope at 31 agility it could be tied with this one.

Hunt for Red Raktober (nice pun huh?) is THE humour quest of RS. "Oh but you said My arm big adventure was the best". Wrong, i said MABA was great, Hunt for red Raktober is the better one. To put it bluntly: My Arm's Big adventure is the original Metroid, while Hunt for Red Raktober is Super metroid.

Going on, Hunt for red Raktober has everything to make fun of every ilicit sterotype! It has a penguin Mafia, whose agent you can barely understand thanks to his italian accent, you have submarines [incert sailing joke here], we have octopus hats, we have dwarves, dwarves in penguins, penguins in sheep. Oh, and have i mentioned Octopus hats?

If you want a humourous quest, Hunt no further. It is my number 7 and I highly advise it to anyone who fancies a laugh.

    Number 6- Darkness of Hallowvale

    This quest is serious. Period.

The previous quests were pretty basic and standart fetch quest. Then this came out, and i was skeptical. I kept on doing the quest and THEN i get asked to travel to meyerditch. Guthix that place still gives me the chills.

It was dark, creepy, it had sentinels, pale humans. It was a maze filled with hidden passages and cool agility obstacles. Paper was flying in the streets and everything felt so... dead.

If any quest ever induced fear in me, this was it. It is a landmark in atmosphere and is very underrated by most players, never got why.

Congratulations Hollowvale, you get yourself a new light in nº 6.

    Number 5- Summer's End

Summer's End was a very anticipated quest. And i mean VERY anticipated. It's predecessor, Spirit of Summer, was very teased with some wilderness lines near a farm. SoS didn't really deliver, but boy the sequel DID!

SoS left us in a cliffhanger, and Summer's End reclaimed that Hanger and Nailed everything it could! So we now had to lure an even stronger spirit beast into a cave. But you couldnt fight the beast directly, or you would be buldozered. What should we do? We weaken the beast with the aid of non combat skills of course! In the first room, we must use woodcutting and firemaking to make the beast blind, in the second we must run away fmo the beast's attacks and bury our own soul and in the third we must bless the graves of the departed.

In the end, you realise that the fate of those you tried to save is death, but its alruight they want it for millenia!

As for the rewards, one of the finest: The second hardest boss monster and THE hardest non-quest boss monster Corporeal Beast is given acess and you can wield the spirit shield, the best shield in thas game.

Ghostly or not, this quest is a solid nº5.

    Number 4- Rocking Out

Man i love this quest. It was the last quest i did before obtaining the quest cape for the first time. That said I have fond memories of doing this quest in excitement of my first Cape of accomplishment.

Rocking out Delivered in every front possible! It was a worthy sequel to Great Brain roberry, wich *almost* ended up in this spot. The tie breaker? 2 words: Seagull Vaccuum. Now THAT's awesome! Joking aside this was an awesome pirate quest, we get to know new carachters, new places, new personalities and we got new items (some of wich i wish i kept).

Rocking out... Rock out of here in nº4

Number 3- Mourning Ends part2.....+ Within the Light

Whaaaaaaa? 2 quests in one spot? These 2 quest complement each other. Mourning Ends Part 2 is the hardest quest on RS. Period. But you know what made it harder? The size of the Temple. The distance between each pillar was excrutiating for the puzzle. If I didn't happen to have a good spacial memory i would be tampted to check a guide! Nit picking aside, Mourning Ends part 2 was an increadible quest, and most of it because it was HARD.
As for Within the Light, it was more of Mourning Ends, but better. The distance between the mirrors was much lower, but the uzzles were less smart however. If these 2 quests qere released toghether though, they would be my nº 2, but they weren't, so Mourning Ends part 2 and Within the light, stay with the Bronze k?

    Number 2- While Guthix Sleeps

First of all, a little nitpick i have to make: I think WGS is overrated. It is still a stellar quest, it has everything it has to have but i just felt it was cliché during at least a 3rd part of it, and another third of it was "one small favour" all over again. That said, the last third of the game is just humoungus, original and awe inspiring.

While a slow starter, it soon picks up searching for a mad researcher, which resembled me of some antagonists of Indiana Jones. Then you are said to assemble a team of silled warriors to aid you in the battle with Lucien, the power-driven fool. You infiltrate their base, you confront Dark Squall and you set him up so you can impersonate him.

Then the moment comes... You go to deep wilderness... The heroes which have helped you all along appear and atart fighting lucien and his troops.. And then you see them falling one by one. This was the first pinnacle of WGS. Watching Duradel, Ghomall, Sloane, Tureal, Hazelmere and Cyrisius die was painfull, specially Hazelmere, the one NPC that convinced me to follow the ways of Guthix.

We continue our trek and descend to the depths of the Tears Abyss, and there it is, the most chilling place in all Gielinor, the Guthix Temple. This chill was not the straighforward horror hollowvale had, but a haunting presence of nothing. Thats righ, there was absolutely NOTHING in there. The build up was huge and it delivered, as in the end of this Gigantic Temple there was the Stone of Jas itself and an epic confrontation with the Balance Elemental. After a short Dialogue with Lucien itself, we fight, or rather, buldoze 2 tormented demons and return to Falador where we can communicate our research. The End

Is While Guthix Sleeps Overrated? Yes, but it is still a stellar quest that raised new standarts. If it had not been for the slow start, it would be my nº1 pick, but for now, it has my silver.

And, the number one is........ *drumrolls*

    Number 1- The Chosen Commander

Yes i said it, The Chosen Commander is THE QUEST of RS. It has everything: buildup, a strong storyline, memorable carachers, for the first time ever EMOTION, new gimmicks, a memorable final stand with an avatar of BANDOS HIMSELF, a gorgeous heartwarming storyline-ending cutscene and to top it off: a steller soundtrack, wich compared to WGS (wich only had one worthwile song, sounds of Guthix) felt increadibly rich!

The story starts with a children poisoning case and you had to find the cause. It was HAM behind all of it and when things were going to be nasty, zanik returns and saves the day. In this very moment you take possesion of zanik's body and explore the Bandos throne room. The elders lock the HAM member but don't give them a trial, insted, they release him to the surface authorities. Zanik, infuriated by this, kills the HAM member and is sentenced to leave Dorgheshuun forever. She runs to the slayer caves and we must calm her down, like a real individual with real feelings. Afetr we calm her down she leaves for a breathe of fresh air. We then have to explora a HAM base in ardougne, until Zanik, possessed by Bandos, invades the base and starts killing everyone. You must then Not attack her but PERSUADE her to fight the power Bandos is offering. When she does so, Bandos' High priest will reclaim the necklace that was giving Zanik the power and teleport somewhwere else. You and zanik teleport to the Tears cave, but when you try to leave, an earthquake happens and Zanik almost falls to infinity. You must help her aim her crossbow to escape the cave. As you DO escape, You and Zanik are confronted by Juna, who says Zanik is now enemy of the gods, and if Guthix didn't protect you as a chosen one (<3) you wuld also be dommed.

We then return to Dorghesuun, where Bandos left an ultimatum. Just as the elders were giving up, Zanik decides to create a new weapon in conjuction with Oldak. But while they are disigning it, you must keep a odd box containing history of Dorgheshuun from harm and try to persuade the Dwarves to save the goblin children, to no avail though (a really sad part).

Then Oldak finishes the new weapon! a scientific crossbow whose bolts will plunge through holy armour and destroy the avatar.

You and Zanik march against bandos, the battle starts! When you arenearly killing him, the Avatar strikes Zanik, wich is lying now on the floor. You must kill the undead statues and rebuild the destroyed crossbow, weaken Bandos once again and give the mercy shot.

But Zanik won't wake up, is she dead? After lying a bit near her she comes to her senses and you both return to Dorgheshuun, where a triumphant theme and cutscene play, showing segements of all the past Cave goblin quests, like a walkthrough through the series.

This actually means a lot to me, since the cave goblin series pretty much followed my progress as a member. Lost tribe was my first member's quest and as i pregressed in my skill new goblin quests were being released, and watching this cutscene after all these years, it touched me profoundly, almost like it was made exclusively for me.

    The cutscene:

Honorable mentions: RFD; Meeting history, Path to Glouphrie.

And this concluded my top 10 best quests in RS, if you don't agree with it, feel free to coment or write a lists in Response!

So, today i though "Why not try a few boss monsters, since you need some serious cash for your crafting needs?"
As i finished my farming runs, Dj Slayer logged in, and we quickly started a DK's trip, we got soemthing like 20-30kills, no drops.
He had to leave, and i decided to stay and solo a few Rex'es
After about2 solo's, prime was on me, but since i carried ranger equipment, i started killing him. Supreme though it would be funny to mess with me.
Just when i was about to summon guthix to smash those souls, rex Respawned.
!hp and i roled to safety, phew, i though..

Then, Mdeoxys logged in, and i asked him if he wanted to duo td's.
So we went, it went well for all teh trip, with a few bumps of course.
No drops in the end, even if we lasted a good 20 kills.

Next week i migth start post more of these, with images, since my exams will finish this week.

Metroid Other M is one of those titles that will be discussed for quite some time. Nintendo really took a big chance with this game, and Team Ninja is also a conceited developer, but they have nothing in common, at least how they develop the games.

M: OM is kind of a mixed bag, it expertly suceeds in certain aspects and feels short in othe areas. I wil explain each section with more detail further into the review.

    But before anything else:

    SPOILER WARNING
In order to properly review the game, I will have to spoil the bigger twists in the game. If you wish to not know these, fast forward to the bottom,

    Grafics and Presentation

Metroid: Other M is a beautiful game. The in-game grafics fit the Metroid series theme and the cutscenes are nothing short of amazing. As for voice acting... It's less stellar. The dialogues between the team are acceptable, Samus' monologue is just awefull. No emotion, no change in tone, just a single tone. If they stately said she was reading for a diary, it was bareable, but since they didn't the vioce acting is just an inch above of terrible.

This game's grafics are way different form the otehr Wii Metroid, Prime 3 Corruption. And in my opinion, Metroid other M is kind of a step backwards. In Coruption, or all the prime series for that matter, the environments had a story, and it was fun getting all the scans. The locations also had some artist merit, and were truly original. In other M, you have the snow, lava and jungle worlds, ending with the cybernetic fortress. In that way, it succeeds in simulating a classic metroid experience. In particular metroid fusion, since all the sectors are completely sperated frmo each other, instead of interconnected like in Super Metroid. It conveys the classic feeling, but not completely.

Also, if you want spectacle, you should avoid other M. As good as the grafics are, they convey no feeling of grandness like the Prime series.

    Grafics: 8.5

    Gameplay

This is where Other M really shines. Metroid Other M plays WONDERFULLY. The D-Pad works better than expected, and even if sometimes it gets hard on the platforming, it's because you simply weren't close enough. The combat works even better. While the auto aim gives the game this feeling of autopilot, that's only in the early stages, as it gets progressivly harder as you plunge further in. The dodge move is overpowered though, since it can be easily exploited to keep your beam completely charged. Morph ball is increadibly nerfed from the Metroid Prime series, who featured amazing challenges with the little sphere.

First person itn't as perfect, but it works. It's much more pwoerfull than 3rd person mode thanks to missiles and super missiles, but you can't move, so it's a good trade. The problem is, you will find 1st person situational, since 3rd is also very powerfull and can fully charge in seconds. I used it only at bosses, partly because some were required, part because Super Missiles are awesome.

As for power ups, it's a disapointment. There are NO NEW POWER UPS. Every single featured power up already existed in a previous metroid games. That doesn't mean there aren't good power ups, Diffusion, screw attack and power bombs are absolutely amazing. But something new would be nice.

    Gameplay: 9.5/10

    Story

The story is... peculiar. It resembles metroid fusion a lot, but with a few differences. First and foremost, the adition of the Galactic Federation team. They won't be in your way much, and apart from Anthony and Adam, they don't have any development, and when they Die they also won't effect you.

The plot starts a few months after Super Metroid, as Samus was returning to space, she intercepted a stress signal. As she arrives at the station she discovers the Team and joins them. Adam restricts her to use any power up. Now, i can understand weapons, and all thos Neo Feminism talks are an inch above [developmentally delayed]ed, sicne it's the federation at all (and she needs to obey them), but deactivatin stuff like the Varia suit and grapple beam is just stupid. They could have come up with stuff like deactivation on impact or soemthing like that, so the suit need time to repair. Hell, samus was almost cooked alive before using the Varia Suit.

The plot takes a while to take off, but about 3 hours in it gets from zero to absolutely amazing. Theres a secret metroid breeding program, a mad scientist in the loose and a traitor is in the team. The plot really thickens out of the blue, and it gets really interesting.

Before going on, i must say the way they introduced ridley was nothing short of brilliant. You will never see him coming, and since it's one of the biggest twists i will not spoil it. One thing i must say is how samus freaked out by just seeing him. She has already faced him 6 TIMES. 6 [bleep]ING TIMES. And she freaks out? Okay, maybe i'm over reacting, since it's kind of understanding, as she Killed Ridley in Super Metroid, and now he appears just as good as new. Still, it was.... awkward to say the least. Samus carachterization isn't bad, it's just badly implemented imo.

As the game nears the end, samus finds more and more dead Galactic Federation troopers killed (Ridley threw Anthony Higgs (MBD)into lava). The last one left was Adam, and Samus follows a trooper, ending up meeting with the Scientist, Madleine Bergman (or w/e), which informs Samus of Metroids and a Mother Brain Clone, MB. Samus leaves for Sector Zero, the suposed origin of said metroids, only to be stopped by Adam, which sets off to Sector Zero to activate the self destruc sequence.

Samus escapes the sector and proceeds to the Biologic weapon research, finds another dead trooper and explores the sector. Traps resembling the ones in Taurian appear. Eventually you find another scientist, who releases a certain monster: A FREAKING QUEEN METROID. HOLY [cabbage]. I really wasn't expecting this, and the boss was quite a challenge at first, since the spawn metroids were pretty [bleep]ish at times. But after they are dead the queen is prety easy, since due to her size you can safely place yourself on her side so you can charge super missiles.

After you defeat it, the scientist speaks with you and reveals she is Madeline Bergman, and the scientist you when earlier was MB, who appears to kill medeline [insert massive, yet interesting backstory here]. The galactic federation appears and a big all out war between MB and Galactic federation ensues! Andd can eb ended by just aiming at MB.

Then, it just ends. Final. Finito. Done.

It really gives you that feeling that the game either ran out of ideas or the developers just said "hey, [bleep] this, it's already good isn't it? Just ship it".

Which takes me to another point: It's too short. Really short. Like, 9h long short. This was shaping into a fantastic game, and it just stopped in it's Prime. Sure, after the ending you can go back and fight Phantoon and have another ending, but i can't stress anough how depressing the ending was.

    Story: 7/10

    Sound

Metroid series always conveyed a good, claustrophobic experience with their tunes and abience, but other M kinda misses the mark by making you not notice the music. Sure, there are some good orchestrated themes, but ou don't really notice. As always, the boss themes are the highlights. The ridley theme was particulary good, sending chills down my spine. The ridley battle is also one of the best the game has to offer, only beaten by Nightmare and Phantoon.

So lets resume this review shall we?

    The good

    -Amazing 3rd person controls
-Good 1st person power and balance
    -Magnificent boss battles
-A story that gets genuinly interesting
    -Compeling Visuals
    -Remake of some classic tunes
    -Full of action and challenge
-Shinespark and speed bosting are as cool as always.
    -Hard mode is a beast
    -Filled with fan service

    The Bad

-1st person mode is underused and is situational at best
-The story takes a while to pick up
    -Uninteresting and dull monologue
    -Feels unfinished
    -Lousy ending
-Collectibles are too easy to find
-Isn't as polished as other Nintendo/Metroid Games

    The Veredict

Metroid Other M is a fantastic experience and a turning point in the Metroid Franchise. It's noe spectacular like the Prime Series or as perfect as the 2D entries, but it tries a balance between the two and succeeds up to a point. Sure, the collectibles feel kinda easy and the Dodge can feel cheap at times, btu it all adds up to a grreat experience, albeit a short one. For it's nitpicks, M: OM is sure to be a staple of Metroid on the Wii and i hope they make a sequel so they could expand on what came out short the first time.

    Score: 9.1/10

Now, should you get it? As i said before, Metroid Other M is short, but sweet. If you are a metroid Fan you should buy it, but for everyone else i would say Rent it. If you can't rent games on your zone, then think more carefully. Games like No more Heroes 2, Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter tri and SMG2 also came out not long ago, provide good fun and are longer. Metroid Other M was the game i had most fun with so far this year, but 50 euros for a 9-15hour long game might be pushing it. It's your call, but my opinion in the matter is:

    Metroid Fans: Buy it

Everyone else: Rent it. If you can't rent it than Buy it.

This was my full review of Metroid: Other M. Feel free to suggest more reviews in the comments below, or even top 10 ideas for me to later on make a list.

First of all, hello again my fellow readers, all four of you.

I didn't remember to write any blog during my vacations, or even january, so why not start february with a journal!

As some of you might or might not know, i hosted an event last night. It was a dk mass event, and it all went very smoothly:
We started off with a zerk split of 300k~, and as the numbers of ours started diminishing, we started having more drop, like 2 warriors, 1 archer and 1 axe. I had to leave in a hurry though, when we were only 5, supreme started messing around with me and almost ko'ed me. it was fun though.

This week, however, some mean mod did a mean prank to me. Like all of you know, i am tip.it's unnofficial priest of guthix, and what that mod did was classify me as "official priest of SARADOMIN". Very good prank if you ask me :D . In the end, i got that eplaced by the normal ranks, but i will get my rank someday <.< .

As for the next week, i will continue to raise my money pile, since i waqnt 99 range and a sgs, but for now i will train my skills, get them over 80 perhaps and keep doing slayer. And gwd after i get 90 range ;)

Priest saying of the week: Balence is key, as for it to happen rewards must be in the same level as work and risk. If you are for some reason a "pure" and want rewards like more defensive armour with strenght bonus that require lv 1 defence, you have 2 choices: Sit and wait for guthix to take your life, or get up and balence your defence in comparisson of your other combat skills.
    Requiescat in peace.
