  1. Very nice guide, I myself have solo'd a few times based on another similar guide (no luck on drops) but never tried to wear my Bandos armor. That will be on my next trip! Thanks! P.S. I had a baconator the other day and I think my heart stopped for a second, I'm not sure how you survived 69 of those bad boys!
  2. Question: Hold the phone! Does this mean it is back to 600 or is this simply their excuse for changing it to 308 or whatever it is?? Are they saying "during development" it was to have a blue charm? Re: updates Awesome, can't tell you how many times I "dripped" on myself and now I can actually wash my hands after going tinkle! Anyone want to borrow my mouse? Great, thousands of 11 year olds in GE testing the filter...can't wait till the excitement of this is past THANK YOU!!! guess I better do the diary then. A simple "GE" Teleport would have been nice.
  3. I was leaning toward cw teleport myself...I guess it has to do with the need to recharge the ammy's?

NOTE: I am not saying I am right and you are wrong, here is just why I like slayer. Uh, 2,8 and 7 are actually numbers not letters. I do agree that slayer is a slow method for training melee but I still like to do it now as it also helps train summoning (although not most effective way of getting charms, I know!) as well as other skills. I have tried armored zombies (never tried zombie monkeys) and for xp it is awesome, just a tad boring, I guess I have a short attention span and killing anything for more than a couple of hours is difficult for me. I even find myself splitting some tasks in 2 and doing something else. At armored zombies I usually only last for 44 minutes (a bunyip) before getting bored and moving on lol. Here is why I like slayer: Training slayer: --Slayer --Combat method (currently strength for me) --Hitpoints --summoning --prayer (i bury all big and bank dragon bones for gilded alters) --crafting - bit of a stretch I know (I guess with gems although just a bit) --others (I am sure some would argue others skills as well) Zombie Monkeys: --Combat skill --HP But hey, everything is a trade off, if there is one best way of doing stuff, everyone would do it. It's what's nice about Runescape, we have choices and alternative ways of doing things.
  5. (Looking to go from 60-66) I am guessing lunar teleports would be fastest but looking for confirmation or alternatives please. Also, can anyone give me an approximation for xp/hour? Thanks.
  6. You have to admit there is NO SECRET about the rumors of sailing (we know JaGex reads their forums to some extent) and although the term "smooth sailing" is commonly used, let's give JaGex some credit. Although it may just be nothing, there is absolutely the possibility that they said it on purpose. Maybe the skill will come out, maybe a mini game, or maybe as I said in an earlier post on this thread, maybe they are just messing with people and we will see a nice little toy sailboat from Diango on April 1st. Either way we don't know with any certainty. IMHO, the 09 behind the scenes called it a year of fixes or whatever, a new skill seems like it does not fit into this. I agree that time is better spent fixing those desolate quest towns and adding to some of the needy skills that already exist.
  7. Look for Diango to start selling toy sailboats on April 1st.
  8. I imagine it was because people (potential merchanters) anticipated it being a tertiary ingredient for the phoenix pouch.
  9. I have to agree with you. I feel like I am back in school and have homework assignments to do. The guilt of "lost xp" used to push me into doing them but now I just do them when I get around to it in most cases. Here is my take on theses "tasks" for whatever it's worth: -Bork I feel like I should do it everyday for the charms as I am training summoning but I only do it when I "am in the neighborhood". -Jade Vine alternate check health/attack: Stopped doing this. Here is why, As far as the slayer xp is concerned, in the time spent going to ardy, gearing up and fighting the thing then going back to the bank and changing inventory and equipment so I can continue whatever it was I was doing I could easily kill 25 assigned slayer monsters to equal the 2500 xp I would have gotten. Add a few charms to it and I'd consider it. -Herb Run I MUST do these more regularly, I just do them when I don't feel like doing anything "involved". -100% On MTK I visit every 5 days or so, I know I lose a bit in collected resources but either way it's still free money -64 Battlestaves from Zaff's Staff Shop Uh, never did these  -Buy Pineapples & Seaweed from Arhein on Catherby Docks. this neither  -Collect buckets of sand from Bert in Yanille. Same as bork, whenever I am near there, thats it. -Phoenix Quills. Dunno yet...seems as if the xp will be good/ worth it...the quills are selling high now, but since they cut the xp in half for making the pouches it will only be worth it if the pouches sell high. The Weekly Tasks: -Circus Once a week, every week! Free fast xp in three skills I need to train? How can I say no? -Penguins When I have a good block of time I can devote to it I'll do it. Better then running around a stupid track in the wildy getting pk'ed for nothing or attacked by rev's. (I put it to agility as of late). -Tears of Guthix When I get around to it...it's going to rc so not a real big deal for me. If you could select the skill it went to...I'd be waiting at Juna's door every week.
  10. well, you get 70% of the shards back regardless of the pouch you turn in. I personally have always used my greens in addition to the crimsons. If you break it down it does cost more, for example: excluding tertiary ingredients ibis: green charm, 109 shards (x .3 ~33) for 98.8 xp so that is 33x25gp=825 for 98.8xp or ~8.4gp per xp bloated leach: crimson charm, 117 shards (x .3 ~35) for 215.2 xp so that is 35x25gp=875 for 215.2 xp or ~4.1gp per xp. EDIT: as far as using the greens, I usually tried to pick pouches that used cheaper ingredients to offset the increased cost per xp...like the ibis or fruit bats for example. bunyip vs. fruitbat bunyip= 33 (110 x .3) shards and 1 raw shark (1000-1100gp) totals ~1825-1900gp for 119.2 xp (15.5 gp per xp) fruitbat= 39 (130 x .3) shards and a banana (~70 gp) totals ~1045gp for 121.1 xp (8.6 gp per xp)
  11. green are more expensive per xp. Crimsons are the best choice because they are more efficient to use than greens and easier to get than blues.
  12. I don't think the bunyip will help all that much on soloing bosses. A war tortoise is the way to go to stock and extra 18 sharks/pots etc. I cannot see your stats where I am now but I started with soloing KBD, then tried bandos (managed 1 per trip with tortoise, whip -- there are guides around on how to do bandos) tried kq once but it took me 2 trips to finish her off (and besides, it is hardly worth the effort now). Chaos elemental is also an option but quite a pain to fight solo (if you do, use curry for food - so it cannot unequip your stuff -- eating curry heals 18 or 19 and leaves a bowl in your inventory) good luck. Oh, another piece of advice, try it out with some crappy equipment (like glory instead of a fury, rune boots instead of dragon) the first time so if you die, you wont lose all that much. ;)
  13. For all of you "you are too old to play" kiddies, here is an interesting article: http://www.dmwmedia.com/news/2008/07/17 ... -are-women "Survey: Average U.S. Gamer Age is 35; 40% are Women" =D> Here is one specific to mmorpgs: http://www.nickyee.com/daedalus/gateway ... phics.html "It is easy to dismiss video games as pointless activities that only teenagers indulge in. The truth is that the average age of MMORPG players is around 26. In fact, only 25% of MMORPG players are teenagers. About 50% of MMORPG players work full-time. About 36% of players are married, and 22% have children. So the MMORPG demographic is fairly diverse, including high-school students, college students, early professionals, middle-aged home-makers, as well as retirees. In other words, MMORPGs do not only appeal to a youth subculture."
  14. For all of you "you are too old to play" kiddies, here is an article from waaaaaaay back in 04: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2004- ... hics_x.htm Don't feel like reading it? Point I'm trying to make: "In fact, the average age of game players was 29 and the average age of buyers was 36" -- score 1 for the grown ups! ...NOW GO DO YOUR HOMEWORK! IT'S THE GROWN UP'S TIME :P EDIT: Found a more recent article: http://www.dmwmedia.com/news/2008/07/17 ... -are-women "Survey: Average U.S. Gamer Age is 35; 40% are Women" =D>
  15. I'm no expert but afaik: for money -- monks>shilo for xp -- barb rod fishing>shilo>monks
  16. About how long going from 60-66 using spirit whatevertheyarecalleds (grahks?) teleports and dueling rings? If not sure, about how many ess per hour? I can do the math. Also, is the xp per hour much better at the temple place thing that gives you random runes? Does it lose money? If yes, is it worth the lost money? Can you tell I don't rc much? Tears of Guthix  EDIT: I got the pouches too.
  17. some more numbers: 1 melee helmet lasted me ~16 mins and ~36k xp (18k bonus). In the 20-22 minutes it took to get the points for the helmet I could have gotten and extra 24-25k exp and some drops too! My conclusion: not good for melee. I see the true benefit in skills you will likely spend money on when training like construction and smithing, etc.
  18. Hey, I'm a dad. Runescape is an escape from the everyday. If I wasn't playing RS, I'd be watching TV. It's not like I quit work and left my family to play it. I even found an awesome clan full of adults (see sig), we are far from alone!
  19. That's a good idea, get my feet wet first and if I die no big loss, work my way into it..ty Sounds easier than it probably is.
  20. nothing huh?
  21. My cousin's friend's brother's aunt has a pet cat that was in the same vet's office as the dog of one of the guys who's frined works for JaGex and this has been confirmed [/sarcasm] Uh, would be nice, but it will not likely happen "as a christmas present" or anytime soon. Although if they were to do it would have to be a secret/surprise so no one could RWT. I know my brother has about 85m on an account he no longer uses, I would certainly like to "borrow" from him. ;)
  22. EDIT: uh, sorry scratch that, didn't realize it was for lower level f2p cooking sry. uh, not too sound like a tool but pretty much cooking in general is fast and easy. I hear rogues den is closest bank to a cooking source and cooking gauntlets are a necessity.
  23. I am toying with the idea of doing a bit of pking and would rather not do too much "pked" :P The only attempt was way back when (like 2 years ago) and I think I may have hit the guy before he killed me. I looked for a guide on these forums in the AoW but couldn't find one. Anyone know of one? Any general advice? Stats are in sig, all quests done too. I did try some 1 iteming (I know!! flames coming) just to get a feel for it but I want to attempt some real pking...maybe. :ohnoes:
  24. Agreed! As for the people who feel it was too short or simple: Let's not forget that they let "us" decide (although I voted for something else) on the event so I'm sure it limited the time for production and they ALSO threw us a quest as well.
