  1. Article #1 - I make armor or weapons I can either use, sell or high alchemy for some serious GP. How much more "USE" does a skill need? Article #2 - Just made me realize I've been playing for 7-8 years now... Where'd the time go? Article #3 - A bit winded but it makes the point. When gambling your far more likely to lose your money than win. Maybe Jagex should consider making the games room more like a casino. I doubt that area has seen much action in a while. Putting in gambling type games might wake it up. Article #4 - good read but the penguins didn't learn about disguises until AFTER Larry got us to help him during the first cold war quest. :shame:
  2. None of the above would change anything. And any credibility you had on the subject disappeared as soon as you suggested IP bans. Anyone with any knowledge on the subject knows that don't work. Did you actually put any thought in that plan? I'm betting you didn't. Heres what happens: Jagex hires a buttload of new staffers which cost money. So Jagex either takes money from development of the game or increases subscription costs. Both negatively impacr the players and a game as a whole. Botters and rwter's dont hurt me or most players but these changes certainly would. People still bot; they bot on weekends or at night and don't get caught. And moving things are only effective now because they happen so rarely. Did you miss the thousand times Jagex has said bots stay one step ahead? Same situation. Mods move objects around - bot makers get more active in updating their scripts or make multiple scripts/options to solve the issue. And then you realize moving things around wouldn't work for most bots anyways. Fighters/hunters/fishers/alchers and anything like them would be totally unaffected. It's easy to say Jagex doesn't care until you realize just how much time/effort goes into fighting them that turns out to be futile anyways. Wait, a buttload of staff? Because my plan involves one guy at a time. One extra staff in charge of actively identifying and punishing bots, instead of programmers fighting the futile programming war of making bots to catch bots. I also think you've misunderstood my idea somewhat. The game changes wouldn't be predictable. It would be a case of something in the game suddenly, temporarily, and randomly changing and requiring different input to do the desired action. Bots are TERRIBLE at adaptability, and humans are great about it. Put a door in front of a human that wasn't there before, and they open it. Do the same to a bot and it flips out. You cannot program a bot to be able to identify and adapt to obstacles the same way a human can, you can only prepare it for situations that already exist. Once a bot is broken, its cover is blown, and it's pretty clear that it is in fact a bot to any humans watching. Fighters/fishers/hunters are absolutely susceptible to this. Alchers, sure, maybe not because they could be hiding anywhere, but alchers are one of the less invasive types of bots. The big problem with botting is resource hogging, and resource hogging means there's a specific place one can look to find the bots. If you can see the bots and can change the game around them, you CAN break them. Heck, I'll take the job for a modest salary. Pay me enough to make up for leaving my main job & I'll play & bot bust 16 hrs a day.
  3. This is exactly why I voted NO to free trade. The inability to trade their ill earned GP & items limited the bots too much to make them feasible as a real business. Jagex knew this was going to happen when they reintroduced free trade. Had they been "prepared" as they claimed wouldn't they have already tried their new methods of bot busting BEFORE they even posted the referendum? They obviously hadn't since you could still find bots picking flax, chopping trees or mining essence in the weeks before the update. It seems like Jagex has all but given up even trying to enforce the rules anymore. <_<
  4. So far Jagex have pretty much proven that they can't... I agree that we should give them a chance (again), but given their trackrecord and admission that these things will always be a problem, I'm not expecting much... When Botting and RWT and attempts at Scamming and Phishing and Begging are back to levels from before the implementation of Free Trade (knowing it was still a major problem), I'll publicly eat my words... But untill then I rather wait and see... And remain convinced that they should first have tried to get rid of these problems before bringing these changes about... I have a feeling you'll be getting hungry then. Those words were a safe bet.
  5. Frankly I've had to all but turn off my chats since free trade came out. I log in & constantly get hit with message after message like "Scammers stole my stuff can you help?" & " Can someone give me 100k , I got hacked". What a freakin pain. I feel like beating my head against the wall :wall: after trying to warn people about stuff like this yet they still voted for it. The bots are back in force now too. I actually saw a flax field get picked clean by them the other day. :???: It's a good thing most bots can't survive where I skill or I'd be highly miffed at the extra competition.
  6. Runescape economics don't make a big difference to me. I gather all my own supplies & just sell what I make for any decent price ( around high alkie level ). All the free trade will do is make prices on new toys shift a bit & bring lots more bots back into the game. The bots are what I'll hate since they'll be auto competing with me for resources.
  7. RWT still happens. It's broken. Your argument is invalid. ...I've wanted to say that for a while now. EDIT: Oh, and in response to the first article, you've managed to sum up my thoughts very well. The question is, what should have Jagex done instead? Ok, then you don;t break it even worse. :shame:
  8. I've already noticed an increase in the number of bots. They're already building up the Gp for transfer when the free trade returns. If Jagex could handle them why haven't they already?
  9. The differences between the petition & the actual vote tells a LOT about the subject. It points out just how much the cheats want it to happen. Are those the people Jagex should be catering to? I don't think so!
  10. If Jagex can't even handle the spambots who'd be advertising for the Real World Traders & price manipulation clans how can we expect them to handle the wave of bots that will return with this update? They're not going to. <_<
  11. I'm still here, still giving help & advise. Nowadays it's hard to find someone who'll actually listen though. My friends list still stays overloaded anyways. Unfortunately my ignore list is similarly full thanks to all the spambots.
  12. This whole "Bring back the Wilderness & Unbalanced trade" thing really worries me. I've been playing for years & was here both for the old wilderness & when the bots ran rampant. I never minded the old wilderness. In fact since I usually didn't go out there to Pk I was usually better armed than the pkers since I wouldn't be getting skulled. I killed hundreds who made the mistake of attacking me as I went about my business out there. No biggie.. I could support that parts return except for the fact that it would allow unbalanced trade which is also on the ballet. Those two things allowed the cheaters & crooks to all but ruin our game. Removing them eliminated 95% of the problem. Those people are still out there, still waiting for the chance to come back. They're just waiting for Jagex to let their guard down. Now it just seems like Jagex is giving up the fight. I already spend quite a bit of time each day reporting people & sites for rules violations usually with no response from Jagex. :wall: Are they not even going to try to police anything? If they're not going to try to do anything to ensure people follow the rules than like the first article has made clear, the crooks will take over & our community will decline even further.
  13. This whole thing worries me. If it's just a P.R. stunt it's going to blow up in Jagex's face big time. If it's not then we're looking at a huge influx of real world trading & botting. Right now the trade limits & removal of old wilderness are all that keeps those at bay. There's still some but nothing compared to 07 levels. I still spend quite a bit of time countering the traders on some of the other sites I moderate for but it's nowhere close to as bad as before. If they've actually developed the systems to deal with them why aren't they in use now. Just go close the door to Aubrie's sometime & watch the bots run around the building see they haven't been completely dealt with. This whole thing just seems wrong.
  14. Well at least I now know why I'm not using up my shade dungeon keys this weekend trying to get clues. Awwww well, I can wait. It gives me more preparation time. You'd think though that they'd post something on the home page about delays if they posted it in the B.T.S..
  15. Hey guys. Since we've brought up the subject of botters & their connection to merchant ( price manipulation ) clans I suggest everyone read an article on the Runescape forums at quick code 98-99-705-61139014 . If everyone in Runescape read & understood it those clans would be through. BTW, I love shattered heart. I get my stones religiously every week & am anxious to complete the statue in my house. I do penguins every week & the odd evil tree when I find one ( haven't really scouted them since I got my 99 wc ). Gave up on that Familiarization flop of a distraction. Unless I just stumble over it then I don't bother. Have yet to stumble into a fish flingers match either.
  16. Baraek actually pays 150 Gp per grey wolf fur if your wearing the Ring of Charos(e) & use the charm option.
  17. The economy took quite a hit. The items the Pkers usually use ( Godswords & such ) have jumped in price dramatically since the Pkers who had stored up these boots now have a large influx of cash. I don't PK myself but must admit to having stored up a couple dozen to use in "High risk" situations. If I'm going somewhere where the chance of death was good ( godwars for example ) I'd don my good 3 items ( weapon , chest & legs ) a prayer book ( since it's replaced for free ) a cheap helm , amulet & climbing boots. Should I accidentally die my grave wouldn't even be worth recovering. If other players had similar tactics ( & we know all the PKers do ) that's a LOT of boots to be turned into GP & flood the economy. By now the extra cash may already be expended since I'm sure the ones who had a lot of those boots alkied them right away so they could buy the prized toy they hadn't been able to afford before. The economy should settle back down within a matter of days. I ,at least for now, am not selling or alkieing mine. I'll hold on to them for now since GP isn't all THAT important to me.
  18. I'd have to agree with " That's It " . I've never liked the balance of Castle Wars or the reward system. I've lost track of how many times I've been stuck with a low leveled team while a strong high level clan is on the other side. 20 minutes later after getting our butts kicked because some level 30 grabbed our flag , got killed & let the flag get recaptured making me spend the rest of the match chasing it as a reward I get NOTHING... & I'm supposed to save up to get a DECORATIVE armor like this? The update had possibilities but they missed the mark. Balancing like they do in stealing creation & changing the reward system to give 4 tickets ( 3 for a win , 1 for a loss or 2 for a tie ) would be better . I don't like the re-balancing midgame idea. If I was doing most of the scoring for my team ( as I often used to ) , we were winning & suddenly I found myself on the other side I'd be sooooo... pissed :wall:
  19. The low walls found in the barbarian agility course are very good for finding the Agility stones & isn't listed in the guide.
  20. You obviously didn't read the whole article :shame: . I even had a few of my P-mod friends try muting some of the bots on world 58 with no success. If they were even shut down at all they were back in action the next day. I report the same ones almost daily & they're still there. It's like I'm beating my head against the wall... :wall:
  21. I found the broomstick very handy for getting around. Teleporting to the sorceress garden made things much quicker.
  22. :shame: This is exactly why I suggested that they make the the plate an upgrade of the dragon chain by adding plates to it. That would have actually made the dragon chains value increase instead of dropping through the floor the way it did. I'll still get the plate just because I collect all the high level armors & weapons & dragon is still one of my favorites. They rolled out several of the things I'd suggested in one quest. Dragon claws, Dagon Hai robes & the dragon plate all in one big update. The elite is a nice looking bonus. Now we just need storage space in our P.O.H.s for them.
