  1. A couple of questions: What was the answer to my PM :P? Can we have multiple projects? And: Research - Pill boxes (See Germany) Reason - Germany is a leader in army technology, it would be wise to learn with them Reason - Machine guns are a revolution in war, we must utilise them Reason - They'll give a good advantage against the Southern states, and future wars. Cost: 750,000 Research - Increased efficiency in Fuel cracking and fuel production Reason 1 - Fuel is precious, and becoming one of the main resources in the world, it is neccessary to imrpove our production Reason 2 - Automobiles are becoming more widely used, but are rather expensive, lower fuel prices would be an incentive for people to buy Reason 3 - Vehicles are becoming common in war, but they're costly to upkeep, thus lowering this cost would allow America to hold more Effect: Fuel becomes more cost effective, meaning the price of fuel for America will drop. This will be an incentive to use the new automobiles and will lower the upkeep of planes and tanks, as some of their upkeep is from the cost of refueling and such. +0.02 Industry level, -$250 upkeep from Tanks -$500 upkeep from Planes. Cost: 1,000,000 Time: A year. Project - Interstate Highways for East coast Reason 1 - Railroads are becoming crowded with public transportation, if we reduce railroad traffic, more trains can transport more resources Reason 2 - Infrastructure of America is low, we must improve it to allow a better connection between states. Reason 3 - Unemployment will be lowered as people begin to construct the highways and produce said resources. Cost: 35,000,000 Time: 5 years. Effect: Infrastructure is improved greatly, unemployment is lowered and automobiles become the norm. The American automobile evolves. +0.3 Industry level Project 2 - The Suburbs Reason 1 - Immigration to America has caused overcrowding, it must be fixed. Reason 2 - American people deserve a nice home Reason 3 - It'll allow people to move to other areas Cost: 20,000,000 Time: 5 years. Effect: Infrastructure improved slightly with the increase of immigration from the new homes and allowing people to live happier(0.03). Increase in morale, lowing chances of revolts.
  2. Reason 3 is invalid for the reason People like shiny new cars. Thus if he can release a new model before everyone has a car, the market is infinite.
  3. It's what makes hegemony fun :D. Don't worry, I'ma change projects, hopefully one that will last until the war is over.
  4. Well then I'm changing projects then, there's no way I'm spending that amount of money to have it destroyed before I can even use it.
  5. Well I'm not doing it to ALL of America, as not all of America is mine. So the cost would be cheaper. It'll probably be a future project to do the rest of the south. I'm toning it down now, I can see where the unreasonableness is. Oh and, yeah it was done then, but I'm doing a 1920 version where the roads aren't as effective, so it should be cheaper
  6. Actually yeah, I realise after doing the math how unreasonable that sounds. I guess I will talk to Spork about it.
  7. Yeah... America practically exploded in economy when the highway system was invented. I watched a documentary not too long ago, and there are quite a few things America did that just exploded their economy. It's not like you guys can't do it either, it only worked so well for America cause of their size, it used to take months to get across America, after it was invented it took less than a week.
  8. Project- The grand American highway system Reason 1: The invention of the automobile is revolutionary for transport and industry. Reason 2: People depend less on trains for a public transportation, allows more resources and such to be transported. Reason 3: Smaller towns without a train station will be able to get around the country, meaning hopefully people will be able to find jobs from other areas. Effect: Huge increase to industrisation (1. to 2.) As America will probably gain monopoly on automobiles, trains now transport a lot more resources, people buy a load of cars, unemployment drops due to more jobs available. Cost: 20,000,000 (4,000,000 a year?) Time: 5 years or 20 turns Proposed Research- Pill boxes (Army?) Reason 1: Germany is one of the leaders of military tech, they would provide a great influence for American scientists Reason 2: Possibilities of another great war are looming, we must be prepared Reason 3: Machine guns are indespensible to the changing war scene, and utilising them would be the best option. Effect: Pill boxes are invented I guess? Cost: 500,000 From the USA Time: 6 turns Proposed Research- Improved Fuel production and cracking (Industry) Reason 1: Automobiles, tanks, planes all use fuel, and so production of said fuels are neccesarry to keep up with the industrialisation of the world Reason 2: Crude oils can be expensive, and so being more efficient will save money in the long run. Reason 3: Cheaper fuel prices for people who use automobiles, and in the upkeep of tanks and planes. Effect: Industry score raised slightly(Between 0.05 and 0.15, perhaps 0.15 when the project is completed) and the upkeep of tanks and planes is lowered. (Minus about $250 from tanks and $500 from planes?) Cost: 1,000,000 Time: 4 turns Can we have multiple projects?
  9. Can you reply to my PM soon Spork please :D?
  10. Dungeonal sure loves picking places where he is instantly in a war with me O-o.
  11. Did someone say capitalism?
  12. This may get complicated, but how about incremental upkeep? If your army is, lets say a reasonable number >100,000 then Upkeep is 100% 100,000 - 199,999 then Upkeep is 125% 200,000 - 299,999 then Upkeep is 150% 300,000 - 499,999 then Upkeep is 175% 500,000 - 1,000,000 Upkeep is 200% 1,000,000+ Upkeep is 250%
  13. Upkeep! Plus I'll never buy irregulars. Well I'll wait until other people attack, and irregulars are more cost effective, I probably will. You don't even know your budget yet, it could be larger than mine.
  14. I'm sure there is upkeep. Can we post in the other thread now?
  15. A bit of RP seems fun. America: Background Information: After the great war, America was confirmed as a world power, due to a recently war torn Europe, and Britain being left in a debt to America from the weapon deals that they had going on, but thankfully they have been paid off. America looks towards a bright future, with a recent presidential election, electing in a new president, President Terry Maple. Leader's Background: Terry grew up in Washington, and has a politician for a father, while his Mother lived up to societies views. He graduated from Harvard University, with a degree in Politicts. Throughout his enrollment in the university, Terry had a nack for chess, and other stratgetic games. While running for president, Terry promised his people a bright future in the ever changing world of the industrial revolution. Diplomatically, he finds the European scene not to be a problem for America and will not waste precious resources that could be used to adapt America to the changing world. America warns the southern states that their actions are not tolerated and military action will be used if they do not stand down.
  16. Can money improve industrialisation? Or is it limited to research?
  17. What are troop costs and such?
  18. United States of America please :).
  19. I know, but I like it.
  20. I think the GE is one of the best economic features in a game I've seen.
  21. Add him on msn. (PM me for his address)
  22. Isn't GIMP free? I'll do it. There you go.
