  3. Didn't you say that you had a surplus of one trillion at some point? Anyways, for that point, I'm pretty sure that even though 2 US cents were worth the same as 1 modern dollar, there are far more than 50 times the US cents than there were in 1925, so real GDP still increased by quite some bit.
  4. Well it's much simpler than the spreadsheets that you've been using, and it understates the amount of surplus a government gets, so it works fine for me. I'll probaly be using that until something simple is developed, since it's underpowering. It's also better than completely ignoring a budget and building what you want.
  5. Of course there's a simple economics thing. I've been trying to use it for a while. Basically, steady growth rate, and budget is 1% of GDP. Done, easy.
  6. Mather, wouldn't giving everyone 100,000 NOK raise inflation to such a high level that no one would trust your currency anymore?
  7. As part of Project Monarch Butterfly, aircraft carriers are being fitted/have been fitted with new reactive armor plates and anti-missle defences. The technology was modifed from tanks, where they sometimes fired missles at missles heading for it, to detonate the missle before it hit the tank. The reactive armor plates are designed to be replaced and refitted during battle, and have a minor explosive charge outwards, to reduce the power of shaped charges and torpedoes. This reduces the vulnerability of aircraft carriers to torpedoes and bombs slightly.

Also, I propose that after building a nice set amount for each nation, we scrap construction so that the game doesn't move too fast technologically. ------------- Grim, what is this weapon? I'll adopt the argent as 50% of my foreign currency reserves.
  9. Icu, this isn't about just taking the tech. Archi doesn't even want me to take the same amount of time he did to build it. He says that it should take me twenty years, when it took him like three. That is my issue. ------------ I would think Japan would have an advantage. It has a multitude of engineers, aircraft construction expertise in civil and military aviation, and the fact that it's corraberating with other powers to do it.
  10. Archi, my whole point is that I am not a brilliant engineer. I don't know how you build an aircraft. I don't know how missles work on the inside. Your examples are of things that real world scientists have not, or cannot develop. I am not a scientist, but if Switzerland can somehow create a space shuttle which is powerful enough to take on a multi-purpose role, which I find implausible in the first place, then Japan should be able to as well. Japan proposes that the SR and it collaborate on the development of two P-Jets. The standard one which is multi-purpose, and a second one which is shorter ranged and is mainly used for interception.
  11. So basically the country of Switzerland spent 60 billion dollars on these things...well 60 billion dollars worth. ------------ Well of course not. I'm using your figures, which my engineers can obviously calculate with their...engineeringness. Doesn't matter if I know anything about it or not. I just tell my engineers, "go make it!" Then they go and work it out for me.
  12. I thought we were trying to stay on Earth and away from uber techs, so why don't we go back to the old arms race of big bombs and big guns and be done with it? Anyways, I've decided to just go back to Doom's system of 1% of GDP as budget, and 3% yearly GDP increase. Makes it much simpler for me to calculate (I can just punch it into my calculator).
  13. Did you read my post? I don't know much about physics, or limits, or any of that. But my engineers and scientists definitely know...or at least they can find out in the same timeframe as did yours. Oh Dusty, what would be the cost of a P-Jet? My budget is a bit stretched right now, but I can trim my other costs from projects to afford it.
  14. That's my main issue here. You may know how to do it, but don't you think that there are millions of engineers out there who also know how to do it? So why can't one of those engineers just walk up to you and say "Excuse me sir, I have a proposal for..." etc etc. This game isn't about how much physics you know, because regardless of how much you do know, it won't matter in the long run. Lots of people around the world probaly know how to do it if you can, and it would've been done if it only required the elementary knowledge of aeronautics and a bit of money. At this time, there have been countless attempts by the government to do this. The Americans tried, the Soviets tried, everyone tried. It didn't work, because it's not feasible. Or it may be feasible, but no matter how much knowledge you have, it's still not going to be the breakthrough that they needed. As for the fuel issue, more fuel means more weight, until most of the fuel is used to carry more fuel. There's a limit. ----------- So basically in summary, I don't need to know exactly how it's done as long as there's someone in the world that does know. ----------- To the above statement, that is why I am also going to take the same amount of time that you did, since you were the first one to make it, so you would be the precedent.
  15. Okay, assuming that the plane flies up using lift, then it will get harder and harder to go up as it goes along, because that's just the nature of the atmosphere. So we can rule that out. We can assume that the plane is propelled upwards, rather than "flying" upwards, before going into orbit. We can logically conclude that either a) Plane uses lots of fuel when going up due to drag caused by wings. Wings are exceptionally strong to overcome drag, and all the other forces acting on it. Then it glides back down, no problem. or B) Plane launches like a rocket, and it has small wings. Then it goes up, does whatever it does, then comes down like a rock and smashes into the Earth. I don't see how it's even possible to reach a fighter with the specifications you've put forward. --------- Basically my point is that Sere doesn't know, you don't know, and I don't know exactly how this thing is going to work. Maybe if we had extensive computer modeling and such, then it might work, but frankly it probaly won't. Sere's decision is probaly based on game mechanics, so why should I need to have a degree in Aeronautics to be able to build a plane like that.
  16. So basically it's not a plane in the sense that it launches by going at high speeds and using lift to bring it up...it uses a rocket. I'm pretty sure you're not accounting for the massive costs that a single launch of a P-Jet would cost. Also, they would probaly require lots of maintainance between flights, and couldn't be used too many times before they broke down from wear and tear. I was under the impression that it was more like a fighter jet. ------ Also noting that the bomb would probaly be blown to pieces by the great height that it is being dropped, with all the strange atmospheric stuff which burns up meteors. Then we have the problem that the bomb would probaly float around in orbit too. If the jet went downwards to drop the bomb, it would probaly be caught up in the gravity and start plummeting downwards. How is this feasible as a fighter jet?
  17. It was agreed that the event never happened, so we sorta reversed it. Anyways Archi, can you point to an article on Wikipedia where it would be even remotely possible to bring a PLANE into orbit?
  18. Oh, I think that if something is easily seen or detected, then it should be reported. For example, launching a rocket into space, since most countries can probaly detect that. Other things could be starting massive civil unrest (if you have 50,000 secret operatives, one is bound to get caught) and abducting people.
  19. Well of course I don't know how it works, but we haven't exactly been rewarding people for knowing how things work. If Switzerland has the engineers, I'm sure Japan has many more engineers and should be able to construct an orbital flight mechanism of some sort in roughly the same amount of time. (I was going to choose a longer period of time, but since you can't argue against me if I use your method, then I will take you as a precedent. So either people argue against both of us, or neither of us. Either way it still solves my problem) --------- Japan is still using the Yen, but it could increase the Argent in its store of foreign currencies. I'm thinking 25% argent, 25% Dollar, 25% Brazillian, 25% Romanian. Or some other mix.
  20. Well everyone has the capacity to bomb anyone on Earth, but you have the capacity of basically flying over and dropping bombs, then leaving. Japan begins its own short-ranged P Jet program. It should take about as long as the Swiss program took. (The basic one, how long did that take?) Personally, I believe that planes don't work that way, so the only logical solution would be to do the same.
  21. Errr, wasn't Algeria already annexed? ------ Oh no, Archi now has the capacity to supposedly bomb anywhere in the world without a means of retaliation. There must be a solution!

  23. I think Turkey and Brazil should get permanent security council seats. They are regional powers after all. Of course, I'm not pushing for them as much as a Japanese seat. -hint hint-
  24. I'm pretty sure that the air cover you would provide is negligible compared to the 3 supercarriers and 200,000 troops that could be deployed for peacekeeping missions that Japan could provide. Oh, Japan is rather quite stable, since the thing with Yemen was that we were authorized by the UN to move in, replace the government, and make it all nice and stuff. Now that we did, that shouldn't be an issue because the UN approved. Besides that, Japan hasn't tried annexing anything in years. Japan still really wants to be part of the security council. It would provide three super carriers with their planes to be deployed, 50,000 marines, 100,000 occupational forces (for if we get into some other Iraq, or longer term war), and fifty or so tanks, with some more later as back up. Oh btw Grim, how the heck did you get 8,000 tanks?
