  1. Meh, I never visit the serious sections of OT, so I can't really make an opinion. I don't go to forums for serious discussion. The only reason I can tolerate this is because there's harpy nonsense in the middle.
  2. Seriously, where's Tripsis and the rest of the Mods when we're actually having a real discussion that doesn't involve harpies, penises, and crude, sexual jokes about Mere. @Vezon: Most of the "fixes" for our system are already implemented by other countries. I believe the "trade school or university" system is in place in some European countries (I want to say Norway and Germany, but don't hold me to that). Afaik, we're the only country with a NCLB program, and it doesn't exactly help. Considering that America was once considered the best country on Earth, it's just appaling to see such a flawed system.
  3. Btw, someone should have created a topic about this on OT before we started taking it here.
  4. It doesn't seem like anyone is going towards any solutions either. Their just hoping that eventually it'll figure itself out, and it won't. The main problem that I have is that the system isn't even helping the bottom rung of students it was designed to help. Most of these kids are going to end up in a working industry; something that doesn't take too much higher education (construction, etc.). But under the current system, these students are getting absolutely no job training. Why does that D student need English? He's not going to be a writer. Prepare him for work in the industry, so he can walk out of this place with a sense of direction and some skills. A lot of the graduating class has no idea where to go after high school. All they've been prepared for is the next year of school, the next years of school, and so on, until their thrown out into the world. My Econ/History teacher's solutions: Get rid of NCLB. It's almost entirely useless. It's a waste of resources that could be used to further academics in our country. It also makes it damn near impossible to fail. If a child is going to fail, do you know what most teachers are instructed to do? Pass them. Not hold them back until they are ready, just straight up pass them. This child keeps floating through school because no one's pushing him. In the end, he ends up with no ambition, no intelligence, and most importantly, no skills. Was this the goal of NCLB? Also, he brought up the fact that it is actually unconstitutional. Apparently education is a state right, and they are not allowed to set a national reform for education. So there's that. Another solution: trade schools. When you're 16 or so, you can choose whether or not you want to enter the work force, or continue pursuing education. Go to college, or learn some skills and do something with your life. Covers basically every group of students except for the failures, who were bound to fail anyway.
  5. And the worst rule they can break is drug abuse or lying about the athlete's age. Personally, I don't root for any side in the Olympics. I just watch it because they're the only sports that remotely interests me. A couple years ago, a female South African runner in the IAAF World Championships won gold, completely blowing everyone else out of the water. So naturally, they withheld the award until she was both drug tested, AND gender tested. So apparently lying about your genitalia is just as bad.

    Today...

Yay, Abc is back again. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of you?
  7. I might see if I can get a copy of Agent 007 Under Fire. You can use it to mod your PS2 really easily, and it is probably the cheapest method. Although I have a feeling that if I go to Gamestop and ask them for that particular game, they might get suspicious.
  8. Judging by my elementary, middle, and high school, I disagree. Other than 1 teacher (my Spanish teacher right now), I think I can say all of my teachers were good teachers. Even the teachers I've hated with a passion, to the point that I would pray he got hit by a car coming to school, were still great teachers; they knew how to teach. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky few (although if you take some form of honors classes; typically the teachers are better). And damn, this thread is getting too serious
  9. 1. Crazy goal! And good luck! 2. Add Dragon 2h to the Chaos Elemental. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the chaos elemental also drops Vesta, Statius, etc.? (Though not specific to this boss, still rare drops)
  10. Bad thing about IB is that you feel stupid because you surround yourself by geniuses . I'm ranked ~30/480 in my class (180 IB), but I have the lowest grades from my "clique" (4.2 gpa)

It looks a bit odd, because the screenshots are rough-looking, but the background is really slick. Doesn't "fit" together really.
  12. I feel bad that I'm a junior in high school an don't study. I feel like I'm going to be [bleep]ed in college.
  13. nps (actually, now a nps for the cool people who use 40 ppp)
  14. Oh my, so many new toys harpies recently. I HOPE HAPPYNOOBLET JOINS, BECAUSE I ALWAYS MISREAD HIS NAME AS HARPYNOOBLET.
  15. I don't even know who or what harpy is, so I'll just humor you and say sure. Job: Oblivious Harpy? Objections?
  16. I'm sorry, my babies belong to Mere. Until her 14 year old body shrivels up. /ohgodcopsarecomingtomyhouse
  17. Yo harps, I herd you like peeramids, so I put a penis on it.
