  1. Another odd chapter to the Sliske symbol trilogy: found this while helping a friend with Wizard's Tower quests. I really wonder what the heck it is. It's apparently been around for a while, if they didn't change the book to show it in a later update. Third case of it, possibly more to be found in other places?
  2. I really want it to be something POH-related... But I think it's just their in-house development software for mapping. If you've gone back and looked at the Dev Diaries for the Dwarf quests you'll see that most areas have weird colored cubes like that until the graphics are finished. The whole floaty-looking circular island part is probably just the default test area for putting together large multi-tile structures since they have to piece them together correctly to prevent any weird stitches showing between the connected pieces and such.
  3. Some higher-resolution stills of the concept art from the video- (please excuse the titlebar.. Couldn't figure out how to remove it) Young Guthix God Guthix "Liquid Cogs" is an amazing way to put it. The more you look at him, the more biotech-y he looks.
  4. Well, a memory from the Easter event has proven my theory correct. Righteous fury against the blue giant to follow. =/ Tbf the Easter thing doesn't entirely prove it. Admittedly giant blue god man with a crown does fit the bill, but without a name or visual theres room for Jagex to make it someone else. But it does put it far enough beyond reasonable doubt to be taken as fact until proven otherwise. [spoiler=Spoiler from Guthix Memories]According to the wiki page, "Twelve items, like the sword. A flash of recognition - one was worn by Saradomin: the blue giant. It had drawn Tuska and Skargaroth to our...my world." He specifically calls the blue giant Saradomin.
  5. "So what do you think this image is about?" Altars? With rune essence on them? No clue. Most likely something to do with the Easter event. Reminds me about Wizard Finix's thesis..
  6. If you have the skillbar minimized you can use WASD instead of the arrow keys to move the camera around, they added it in one of the more recent updates. (First I heard about it is yesterday, not sure if it was this update or not)
  7. It won't be every quest that has an indirect 140 combat requirement, just the God Wars II quests. Noobs will still get their fill of fighting goblins and stealing sweetrolls and other such mundane quests. Actually, according to the disclaimer in the front page post, all content from next week on out is gonna assume that you've done the quest even if you haven't (for storyline reasons). So potentially a sequel might not even need The World Wakes as a requirement either. :-k EDIT: Of course, now that I think about it, anything that refers to what happened to the player itself would almost definitely need the quest as a requirement. (Since the overall world changes are the reason why future content will take it into account, not the player's status) So I guess that does mean it will be a requirement for any future quests in this line. Neat.
  8. [spoiler=TWW Spoilers]The non-existence of many requirements was something required for the quest's purpose. It wasn't meant to be a continuation of WGS/RotM or any other questline--it was meant to introduce the storyline that will be the focus of most updates in the next year or so. There was barely any content in it that would have required those quests for prior knowledge anyway. It wasn't meant to live up to the previous Grandmaster quests, just to bring the storyline of the entire world to its next chapter. (And the movement into the Sixth Age) I'm not sure how people are saying it was a short quest.. It took me about three or four hours. I haven't done a quest that has taken that long personally. My main issue is that if they intend for this to be a quest a majority of players complete, why did they add tons of boss monsters that are nigh-impossible for even a Level 140 to defeat? I'm level 180 and I died twice during the quest. I'd be surprised if it was any easier for a Level 140.
  9. You mean because we now have to wait another year or so for the sequel ? According to the frontpage post for the quest, all content from next week onwards will factor in the quest's changes to the world. I'm guessing that there won't be any more big storyline quests like this in the World Wakes series until something truly amazing happens. Of course, stuff like Wilderness Warbands next week will apparently still continue the storyline. I'm definitely very excited to see what kind of new content comes out of the post-quest world. Also as far as the new skills: [spoiler=TWW Spoilers]I think it's almost certain that the new skills will be Archaeology and Engineering. They together represent the past and future--balance. They said that the new skills would be hinted to in the quest, and with the Sixth Age Circuit I think it's safe to say that technology is growing. Since we're in the Sixth Age now, I'm guessing we may be seeing something of an industrial revolution soon enough.. Very, very excting. Also, as a Guthixian, this quest was depressing. Oh man did I cry when Guthix died. :( My lord is gone but his teachings will always be remembered.
  10. I don't think it was just a coincidence that they showed Guthix in the form they did. Considering just how much his portrayed form (Which isn't his true form or his only form, mind you--it's just the one Jagex thought made the most visual sense to a non-'Scaper for a video--so don't get upset that he isn't a skull anymore just yet.) looks like a Gorajo, I'm guessing its some sort of hint to Guthix's origins or something else relating to the gods. I'm eager to see what crazy revelations come out of TWW, especially since it appears that we'll finally know a lot more about Guthix, the first age, the Elder Gods, and the reason things are as they are. By the way they've been describing it, it seems like there will be a main storyline to the quest that gets elaborated and connected to the other major questlines afterwards if you've completed the required quests. This works perfectly, considering that this quest will be the basis of most of the World Event and story-driven content in the coming years.. Not sure they could have done it any way else.
  11. I just noticed that the first portal Guthix opens looks a lot like it has a design that is based off the Flames of Lloigh-enn (AKA. The original RS2 login screens.) Not sure if it's just a little in-joke or maybe a reference that Guthix actually made the flames as one of the original portals to let us into Gielinor. :D
  12. I think this is a great idea. There's just few enough people who want 2007-scape for it to meet one of the requirements, but not enough for it to become something that is free with current membership. It's a win on both sides. Jagex gets more money from the folks who want the old RuneScape to put into the new game, and the needlessly nostalgic players get the promised land that they've all been dreaming of. Of course, it also means that the people who are so upset with the current state of RuneScape will finally have a chance to realize that it wasn't the old game, but the community of the old game that they loved. They'll get tired of the old game and its stagnate gameplay--and it'll become a barren wasteland within a few months. (With the net gain being thousands of dollars for Jagex) I'll be voting no in this instance. I certainly don't want to do my part towards any of the higher tiers (With a dedicated development team! Seriously?) being achieved.
  13. Why the [bleep] is this a thing to be glad about? I think the main issue most people have been having with it is that it's too empty. Most people seem to get theirs out of the way as soon as possible and at many points in the day it's almost impossible to get a full 5-man team. Folks show up, see no one, and leave before 3 more folks show up the next half hour. If the sinkholes are every 2 hours, this means that more people will show up at each one, making it more likely that you will get a full group. Anyone who really wants to do theirs will be able to check the time until the next sinkhole and know that there should be a decent amount of people. (Compared to checking every 30 minutes for several hours and coming up empty) Of course there's some issues for folks with time restraints and such, but it still should help more people than it hurts.
  14. Didn't they say they plan to do all new quests with voice acting? I kind of hope that's not the case since I'm sure it takes a lot longer. It would help explain the sluggishness of releasing quests lately though. Generally, if they add a completely new system to the game, they create an entirely new team to work alongside the usual folks. From what I've seen/heard from the mods, it's the same way with their voice acting department. Seems to me like there's either a TON of content in the backlog that they want to put out, delaying quests, or there's some sort of extra layer of Q/A going on now. Although I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they weren't putting as much focus on "one quest per month" anymore because of some restructuring in their content departments. I would blame it on the SoF/SS but I know better than that :P As far as penguin points go, I love the idea of a super-super-rare penguin. Makes me wonder what locations would qualify.. Nex's room peng? :D
  15. It reminds me a LOT of Soul Calibur. Which is a great, great thing. Now they just need to add it to the music player so I can listen to it more :P Okay, I'm gonna have to unmute my login/lobby screens if that's what they have playing, because that is awesome. +3 to whoever's doing music at JagexHQ. It's not on the actual login/lobby screen-- you hear it when you log into a world and the 200m Event notification comes up. Sadly once you do the event theres no other way to listen to it, since the popup disappears :(
  16. It reminds me a LOT of Soul Calibur. Which is a great, great thing. Now they just need to add it to the music player so I can listen to it more :P Apparently all the fuss has died down though, there's only like three people at the Party Demon anymore. Taking quite a while to take down
  17. I was incredibly, incredibly outraged by this update. Then I saw headbutt mining and everything was okay again and it is the greatest thing ever. I got it and went to the Mining Guild to confuse the heck out of some miners, but then realized all 13 of the people there are bots. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole King Solomon thing was intentionally done by a dev. One of the things that keeps me from just up and leaving is that the developers seem to genuinely care about the players most of the time--its the investors and management that seem to be out to squeeze our wallets dry.
  18. Actually, the people in my Runespan group on w60 found the problem. Apparently, the huge amount of nodes in the 1st Floor prevent nodes from spawning on the upper floors. Because of the mass of 20 fire nodes on one island down below, we couldn't get any Nature nodes. A few of us went down to clean 'em up, and they started appearing up top again. Not sure if it's a coincidence or what, but I'm hoping Jagex fixes this sometime soon!
  19. These two quotes are hinting to a greater, non-XP reward. Any ideas? I wonder exactly what monsters drop it. If even low-level monsters drop it, just with an incredibly incredibly low chance like it sounds like it does, then we may see quite a few of these popping up soon.
  20. Jagex does full-page advertisements like that sometimes. To be honest I don't like them, but hey, it's just the front page. It's pretty funny how a good bit of the RSOF thinks that this means that Disney bought Jagex.
  21. They didn't specifically say a new boss, just a "fearsome creature". For all we know, it's a regular monster from floors below we've been to yet. Personally, I'm thinking that it'll be Night Spiders or Seekers, to give us an above-ground version of one of the Dungeoneering slayer items. Personally, this is great news to me. Dungeoneering is something that I've loved from the first second I tried it, so improving an already wonderful skill is music to my ears.
