Everyone is recommending 3dsm without taking into account the learning curve. It can take quite a long time to get used the the program and its vast amount of features. There are quite a few general modelling tutorials for 3dsm available at http://www.huntfor.com/3d/tutorials.htm As far as abstract goes, you might want to check deviant art, or some place where it is more popular. (Oh, venomai..thats why I put "quick" )

Mkay. Take the mouse that is placed in either your right and or left hand and get a firm grip on it. Move the mouse to move the cursor on the screen to position said cursor over the document you have open in photoshop. Click on brushes and select any one of the brushes by hovering over it with the cursor and then applying pressure to the left mouse button. Next, move the brush over the canvas and click. All done.

Neji Render --*-- Meh Very 1st Render Attempt --*--
Phalanxe replied to Zibl's topic in Art and Media
I have no idea where you got the idea that cutting an image out was rendering, but please refer to carlos's post again. He is right, you are confused. -
I've been following this topic quietly for a while now, and am fully behind the idea of a large media only board. If you look at the front page (or any other page) in media discussion, it is mostly sigs. With so many people posting their first sig or any other form of sig, any topics featuring larger and more serious forms of art are dropped down to the next page and usually aren't brought up again. When there is actually discussion about art, its great..but doesn't last. I guess all I'm saying is, please create a new sub forum for all non-sig related art..it would really help to seperate the people looking for money, and those who just love art.

Here's something quick I made with bryce to show it is possible to do abstracts with it. Bryce won't make abstracts as complicated as 3dsm or c4d, but it is cheap and it does work.

Your perspective is a little off on the tracks. I'll wait for the final to comment though.

How am I seeing the top and bottom of the cylinder that makes up the handle for the ax. That isn't possible. Ever.

Your proportions are a little off. You made it so that his arms fall down past his knees, where as in real life, they fall to the thigh area. There are several good tutorials that help you get the proportions of humans correct, go have a look around for them.

I think you would be able to see a small part of the ear from that perspective. Besides that and what you had already picked out, nice job.

He was on tv, and I didn't have a subject :P

Heh, the pink background is so I can see any misplaced brush strokes due to the contrast. Thanks for all the compliments so far everyone :)

Marilyn Monroe? an aeroplane? a chicken? help me on my way here. lips are weird ill wait for further comments till its finished. The lips on look odd due to the pencil sketch layer. If that is taken off, they are more proportional :P

Yea Arnie would be my best guess too. Great painting btw yes it is pretty dang good.... if i got a picture of me could you paint me? so i could have myself in a sig? I usually charge (in real money of course) for digital paintings, but a little rs money might convince we otherwise  I actually need to get my 2nd computer fixed. That is where I do all of my art and is where I have my Wacom Tablet set up at. It should be up and running by tomorrow though.

You both win  I'm actually looking for a little c&c though. I personally don't think the texture is very good on the skin, but am looking for a second (or third, etc.) opinion.

Alright, just doing a mini painting out of boredom. My paintings are generally much, much larger and more detailed. This is more for practice. Guess who it is :P
