  1. ^^ i noticed that you have zero posts. That's a bit weird :) I use the throne of miscellania minigame/quest after I did royal trouble. I typically throw a few million in the coffers and leave it for a month or so. Gets me a seriously good amount of birds nests, maples, herbs and coal (when I am short).

regarding rares, I have considered getting one, but I would rather use my money to advance my skills, in particular, construction and prayer, which really need a good money input to level effectively. Maybe at some point I will acquire one, but not right now.

  2. very nice. Your stats look very similar to mine at 1700 total. Next task will be to get all stats 70+, which you are not too far off. That will set you up nicely for getting on the way to 1800 total. Nice not having any 99's as well (im 1900 with no 99's :) )

generally nice all round stats, I'll give you an 8/10 as there is room for improvement (isn't there always?). keep up the skilling :)

  3. cheers for comments, especially vincent for the bank appraisal. I disagree about using toadfalx for agility pots, i's much rather use them to get my herby up rather than using for supercompost. I always use pineapples for sc as they as free from karamja and 2gp from Arheim.

I also have 3 complete free lines of bank space, I just cropped the image to save space.

Also, after that pic was taken , I did by myself 20k ess to get my rc up a bit. I really hate mining so that is going to level very slowly.... That or smithing will be my last skill that gets to 80 (or possibly prayer).

    keep the comments coming

  4. many congratz on getting to 85. I reckon that is is equivalent to getting a 99 in some other skills as slayer xp is very slow. Good luck getting abyssals on assignment, I was almost 86 slayer before duradel finally decided to give them to me on task! Hope that you enjoy the nice money maker that you will get from all those nice whip drops :)

  5. Hi all, I have managed to get to 1900 total level. Feel free to rate, hate, whatever. I don't have any 99's, and I don't intend on going for any in the near future. Enjoy :)

  6. Agree with the above posters, I respect people who have got skill capes that are difficult to achieve, ones that are pretty rare. Your siggy says it all really, you were ~25000 to 99 fletching - that is a lot of people with that cape - you seem them around all the time. It is pretty easy just to buy your way all the way to 99 in that skill (and cooking) without even running it at a huge loss.

However, not to belittle your achievement, well done on getting to 99, don't let anyone get you down about it, you are proud of what you did and how long it took you to get it and that should be all that matters, not what random strangers tell you.

  7. well my setup is similar for melee training. It depends a lot on whether you have full guthans for training, or if you need to rely on food.

If you use food only, then you want your highest defence bonus, so I think that what you have is pretty solid. If you have guthans, then you can afford to not have the highest def bonus and use things like defenders etc.

    here is my setup:

    Helmet - Black mask

    Amulet - Amulet of Glory

    Body - Granite Plate

    Legs - Dragon legs

    Boots - Dragon boots

Gloves - Barrows Gloves from RFD

    Ring - Wealth

    Cape - Quest

    Weapon - Dragon scimitar

    Shield - Rune defender

With guthans in inv to heal. High def helps (92 at the mo) as you dont get hit as often. This also means that you do not have to repair your barrows armour as often.

I'd definitely recommend getting barrows gloves (or as good as you can from RFD) as they have awesome bonuses for all 3 combat styles.

  8. I agree with the people that say that dfire, defenders and obby shield are responsible for its demise. Of those three, I would say that the defenders are by far the most responsible, as they are pretty easy to get, have a nice strength bonus, and even nicer, have an att bonus too. I have had 2 left half drops, but have never worn my dsq as I prefer the extra offensive capability. I think that this is true for most players now.

  9. well i dont think that this is going to be an amazing month either. In fairness though, we have had some really good months recently so I am happy for a quiet month where i can get on with skilling.

With regards to the exact content, I don't know exactly how making infinite stock is going to deter bots buying runes and stuff. I'll be interested to see how that works out. I am always looking forward to new quests, particularly one where you can get free xp weekly like ToG. Could be interesting.

  10. i use duradel and nearly always get 150+ of any task, notable exceptions being metal dragons.

My most recent is 185 warped terrorbirds, before that was 144 abarrent specters, and before that was some unknown quantity of brine rats.

Incidentally, brine rats, kalphites and warped terrorbirds are my 3 least favourite tasks, possibly coinciding with the remarkable regularity which I seem to get these.....

  11. for me it would have to be rat catchers, in that frelling mansion trying to get past the guards. Took me hours of unbridled 'fun'

Second on my list would be trying to get the lumberjack top from Temple Trekking - been about 10+ hours and counting with still no luck... As I haven;t actually achieved that yet, I'm going to make getting goutweed from jungle cleanup my current second place (so I could finish the achievement diary) - took me about 4 hours to do.

  12. Interesting thread.

I tend to skip black demons as I only like doing monsters that drop lv 3 clues or are phenomenally fast xp (like daggs). I tend to find that I might have 10 terrible tasks in a row, then 5-6 decent ones straight after.

My most recent streak, not in any order was brine rats*2, black demons, kalphites*2, warped terrorbirds, until i got a nice task in abarrant specters.

I do find it frustrating that he keeps giving me things like brine rats or jungle horrors, at 85+ slayer. From 65-86 slayer, I have only been given 2 dust devil tasks, which seems a little low compared to the amount on slayer monsters that I have received with much lower slayer requirements.

Duradel just goes through those phases I guess, just gotta live with it unti he assigns something nice. I used to get gargs and nechs alternately for ages- that was awesome :)

  13. Just realised another mini benefit of this month's updates: no unids means an extra 12 bank spaces :D

i read the update in a different way: herbs will be still in 2 stacks so instead of say, ranarrs + a stack of unids (that are ranarrs) this will become a stack of clean ranarrs and a stack of dirty ranarrs (or similar). You won't be able to clean the ranarrs until you have the herb level that you would have previously had to identify them.

It just means that people can sell herbs that still need cleaning (previously unids) as another effort to stop people scamming.

With respects to this update, I think that this month is what I expected, given that we have had some awesome updates recently. I'll wager that the achievement diary will be pretty straightforward this time around. The rc update should be good, I really hate rc so any update for the better I'm all for. The wildy attacking rule is great for PKers and means that you will have to be on your toes a lot more when runecrafting or attacking green dragons in particular.

  14. tbh, I think that you will struggle. None of your combat stats are particularly high. They will attack with range and magic attacks so you will be burning through those range and prayer pots + sharks. I think that you will probably kill 1 per trip. I kill four at best when meleeing, it is slow and painful to kill just one of them. (I'm 91 att, def, str)

regarding the probability thing, I have no idea, but if they are anything like the same as the metal dragons in brimhaven, it will be one every few hundred. The helms are so rare because it takes so many trips to kill any significant amount.

Regarding good tactics to kill them, I melee with a superset, melee pray with sharks or better food. I typically wear ahrims for the mage defence. They don't use range close up. They don't seem to use their mage attack as often as their melee one so melee pray is best.

For attacking at distance, you want either magic pray with good range defence, or vice versa. I didn't have much success the one time that I tried it.

I'd recommend getting your stats up before you seriously attempt to kill them, it will just be a waste of money otherwise.

  15. what everyone above me has said. ^^

You almost certainly will get banned for real world trading. Besides, what is the point of playing if you are not going to earn everything yourself? Where is the sense of achievement in that?

Just do NOT buy RS gold online. It is the gold farmers and macros that ruin the game and you are just encouraging them.

Just play the game to enjoy it and you will feel a lot better earning the money yourself.

  16. 2 of those 3 skills that you listed are among my favourite skills to train.

Farming - absolutely awesome. Spirit trees for quick trips to miscellania, herb seeds (awesome for herblore) and limps, the ability to gain xp which doing other skills. What is there not to like? As the skill is capped at 85, there is still a lot of room for improvement in additional things need to be added to the skill. e.g. a new high level herb to match with herblore.

Construction - again awesome. Construction room, tele tablets, gilded altar, portal rooms (esp for canafis). This is a sweet skill, sure it costs a lot to level but it is really worth it.

Hunter - they just released a cool minigame for catching implings to give the opportunity to make money and get items from the skill. Red chinchompas are great money for those going after fast levels(+ good money), and there is still lots of scope for improving the skill. How is this a "forgotton skill" if they just updated it?

(my skills are farming: 81, con: 79, and hunter: 73)

  17. I think that cave horrors are a better bet as they drop masks considerably more regularly than dusties drop chains (really their only high money drop). The herbs, herb seeds, relative closeness to a bank, black masks, big bones (for pray xp), and level 3 clue scrolls makes horrors a much better proposition than dusties.

re doing barrows: it is a good money maker, but not if you want to train your range more. I do barrows for the runes (which earn a tidy sum), and you will get the occasional nice barrows item to boost your supplies. For maximum profit, I'd recommend using veracs throughout so it's 100% profit on the runes that you get from the chest.

  18. I really don;t think that you can appreciate how difficult it is to get high mining and smithing levels. I'd recommend method1 if you are going to choose any. I'd really recommend having a lower goal to set youself. Both mining and smelting are very slow. You might want to use the steel bars to make cannonballs, but they are poor xp and slow to smith.

I use the blast furnace to smith somtimes for variation and cheap ores (60+ smithing needed though), also get magic xp from alching your plates that you have smithed. (Assuming you are members)

Also, consider mining gold and using smithing gaunts to get good smithing xp for them.

One things confuses me though, you are 41 smithing, yet your secret method gets you over 50k xp per hour. I presume that you have another account...?

Trust me, whatever you choose, you will get slow xp in both skills. That is why they are among my lowest levels. Both skills bore me so much.

  19. if you could get xp while not on task, then people would never leave the slayer tower killing abyssals...

Also, if you can get to a mid-level hunter, some of the implings drop herb and tree seeds i think. red chinchompas are the way to go though for good money

slayer rocks though - while getting to a high level, you will get stacks of good drops, level 3 clues and hence, decent money.
