Locked Account? Passwords Leaked? - Main Discussion Thread
Try again in a couple of hours when Jagex staff is up. Maybe the system is overloading cuz so many people are trying to get their accounts unlocked. I believe their offices open at 9:00AM or 10:00AM UK time, but I could be wrong...

What happened for you in RS while the forums were down?
I was just mining essence and doing coursework lol. Was quite productive. ^_^;

I worded that poorly. I mean that you are not part of that particular group that's being focused on (the group that has the same password). So yes, there is a way that this is coincidental. People get their accounts locked on other days and times too. Try to recover your account if you can.

Well this is a completely different situation. People can't get your rs password out of thin air now, can they? How can you be sure that it is connected to this situation? What are you talking about; how is it a completely different situation? I was playing Runescape like normal, stayed constantly logged in for a few hours as I was just training and writing a paper at the same time. I accidentally log out for about 30 seconds, and when I try to log back in, I get that account locked message. I'm virtually positive it is related to this. How can it not be? Do you know how huge of a coincidence this would have to be, given all the circumstances? :? And yes, I agree with you that people can't get my RS password out of thin air. I don't see what that has to do with anything though. No one has it except for me. My account wasn't hacked, it was locked. :? Pretty sure in your case it's different because according to Jagex, they've locked accounts that have had the same password as on Tip.it in relation to the breach. o_o

There is not much we suggest for you to do if you did not set any recovery questions. You were prompted to do so when you first signed up for a RuneScape account. :| :| :|

Hopefully someone that knows more about recovery a members account can help you with that last bit. :| Wish I could give more information to help you, but I'm strictly pure F2P atm. >_

That's not true at all. My tip.it password and Runescape password were completely different, yet my account was locked. I sent in an appeal to get my password changed back, and when I went to go track my query, their message said that they want more old passwords from me. Now how do I give them this? Do I have to go back and fill out another query form completely? Is there any way to contact Jagex without that form? Was your account locked before or after today?

Chat filter improvements
I can't speak properly in Chinese anymore lmao. :| For example, if I wanted to say, "You should go to Falador," I have to say "Ni ying gai qu Falador." "Ying gai" means "should" but unfortunately I can't say the second syllable without getting censored. >_<

You should still be able to recover it with other information... >_> They do ask for security questions + previous passwords. Key point in all of this: It's all down to the user to be responsible fully for the security of their account(s). We and Jagex have told people constantly not to use the same password for RuneScape and fansites. If you keep your passwords different, you will not be having problems of being locked out in the first place. :| No matter wher eyou go on the Internet, no site is 100% safe. We the staff at Tip.it have strove to do our best to provide the most secure environment for you, but it's all down to you to see if you decide to keep up with security updates, updated anti-virus software and anti-spyware scanners, as well as the basic "don't use the same password for RuneScape and other sites."

Locked Account? Passwords Leaked? - Main Discussion Thread
Let's try that again... :| Basically anyone who has the same password as the ones on RS that's locked out at the moment. If you have the same forum name as your RuneScape name, but not the same password, you're fine. Tip.it has entirely no intentions whatsoever to have your accounts harmed. It is your responsibility in the end to make sure you don't have same/similar passwords to the ones you use on RuneScape. We've posted repeated warnings and guidelines, as did Jagex, about keeping your account safe, but evidently there are some people who did not pay heed to such. Please give the password recovery process time. As said in my earlier post, it will take some time for Jagex to respond to the situation at hand. Thank you.

As some of you may have noticed, your RuneScape accounts have been locked. This is a security measure by Jagex in order to keep your accounts safe. If you are able to provide the correct information needed to prove ownership of the account, your account should be unlocked shortly after. Make sure that you have set your recovery questions! Members (P2P): Please make sure you do have your PIN Number and other information needed in order to recover your account! Please keep in mind that the Jagex Customer Support is very busy so please be patient. They can only work so quickly and are based in the UK, so those that are living in the US for example may have to wait longer before a response can be given. ~ If you wish to discuss locked accounts, leaked/lost passwords, use this thread please. Thanks. Keep this thread clean as this will be the only thread (aside from the one on the P2P boards) that will be left open for the subject. Should there be any inappropriate posts whatsoever, this thread will be locked.

Gamer's Suicide...
Topics like this have been posted over and over again... While not necessarily the same article, the general story is the same: Someone killed themselves supposedly for a game. I'm only bolding that in order to not take any sides in the matter. If any such further topics come up again, let's cut the ad hominem and whatnot okay?

Why you are in a clan...
The reason why I've joined clans during my RuneScape career was because I wanted to be in a community. The general RuneScape community itself stunk, and I wanted to make new friends too. One of the very first clans I got to make such new friends was when I met Mystical25 (this was before she in BK) and met Blueonix, DarkSamurai (Some numbers here; he was the one that introduced me to Mystical), Mystical25 of course, and lots more. :) Later on in my KoS days I made even more friends and learned how to PK more effectively than I used to. (I had to leave so many times during the trips to wash the dinner dishes that people started to call me Jet Dry thanks to Sniper72 lmao.) After resigning from KoS, I went to 'The' and met even MORE awesome people. :D If it wasn't for clans, I would've left RuneScape long ago because the general community was just awful.

Anybody else anal about organizing items while training?
I always put the runes I get in alphabetical order, followed by coins, then wahtever gems they drop in order of level to cut. If I get items, I put those based on value. Food goes last. :)

The top things one can expect from College / University...
My current situation is quite similar to yours, but thankfully I have relatives and friends (including Weezcake haha) to help me out. :P I'm about to transfer to a university from a community college. 1. Expect stairs and crowds. Lots of them. It's not an easy walk through the park. 2. Read your material and go to class. The professors aren't there to take your hand and guide you through the term. Your job is to show that you are able to understand the material and put in your own words. Do not plagerize!!! Many professors will be furious if you do something like this. 3. Watch out for deadlines, both for coursework AND campus-related stuff like add/withdraw/drop dates for classes, financial aid, etc. Start looking NOW. Jobs go fast, especially this time of year. You especially should try to find a job that is relatively close to your intended major. It'll help you gain more experience and hopefully better-paying jobs as you go through higher education. There are programs at the schools that offer work study where you work on campus as a tutor, library assistant, etc. Residence halls normally include meal plans for you. :P But if you're going to be renting an apartment with a small kitchen, do not try to survive on Ramen noodles. Get some basic cooking skills like boiling some vegetables, frying eggs and making rice. You can try meat, but my advice there: better overcooked than undercooked (unless you like rare and/or medium rare stuff). For me, at the moment I'm able to cook vegetables, rice, noodles (not Ramen), make some soups. If you just keep your meals simple you'll be able to save some money. Sure it's okay to treat yourself now and again, but don't feed yourself on junky foods. You need to keep healthy, especially if you're going to school far away from home and relatives and there won't be anyone really to take care of you. Aww don't cry. *Hugs!* You'll do okay! :) Just manage your money and time well. It's one of the steps going into adulthood. :P If you want, you can try doing what I did, although I don't recommend it very much. I don't think every country has this sort of thing either. What I have done is gone through community college, a two-year institution that allows me to do my lower-division coursework and transfer the units to the university I will transfer to after I'm finished. You can save a lot of money doing this, and sometimes don't have to spend much at all. In my first year, I qualified for a fee waiver that paid my tuition, health services fees, and student activity fees. I also received a grant from the government. All I had to pay for were my books and registration fee, but because of the grant, I essentially paid nothing for three terms. Had I had to pay for everything, I would've spent roughly $3,000. That's little compared to normal four-year institutions, which can cost over $20,000. As you can see, financial aid is your friend. Apply for it and get grants, scholarships, and loans if you are able to. I'm pretty sure the guidance counselors talked about it with you. Watch out for the interest rates on the loans though. You do NOT want to be heavily in debt when you graduate! Good luck! :)

anybody know some fun stuff to do for a f2p?
You've got time on your hands...don't you?To be honest, no. I just had a few minutes to spare while at school. :P And yes that other account IS mine lol. Side note: don't report stuff to me on it. You will not get a reply back until like months later.
