As far as I know, you first got around 50 exp per Crumble Undead spell because it was messed up. Later, it was reverted to 24.5 (according to Jagex KB), but it's still better thatn fire bolt (base 21.5)

If your roll is higher, you hit (thus, higher attack means less zeros). If you hit, then you roll a second die. Strength levels (and str bonuses) raise the max hit you have (thus lowering the chances of getting 1's or 2's). (Yes, I've played D&D :oops: )
