  1. Really surprised they added summoning without shards/pouches. I was going to suggest it myself but really thought they couldn't just do away with them. That's an awesome change though, was needed. As was the herblore seeds, means that if you don't have to rely on certain seed drops to get through doors.
  2. We're pleased to announce that Tripsis has rejoined as an Admin. She did a fantastic job last time she was here, and she'll be doing the same work again! Although there's rumours she may impose a skittle tax... Welcome Back!
  3. Bugs are already discussed there, and we already have a forum for it. Of course we wouldn't allow encouraging rule breaking or bug abuse like we do currently, however some bugs have an effect on the game and they need to be discussed
  4. Green are weaker than Blue Dragons, so that theory is out of the window.
  5. Most bugs get discussed there anyway and the difference between debates and discussions is here nor there. Having them in one place too will lower things being discussed multiple times and keep everything in the same place, which should have a positive effect on the discussions instead of separating them into two separate places.
  6. The suggestions subforum will remain (the name of it will change obviously).
  7. Hello, We're in the process of making some changes to the forums and would like your feedback on the potential changes before we make them. Most of these changes involve general discussion. Anywho, the changes we're proposing. General Discussion changes Make the Marketplace a subforum of General Discussion Merge Debates into General Discussion Talk about Runescape Bugs will now belong in general And we're also planning on making a new board - the Runescape Media board, this board will be for Runescape related Videos, Machinima, creative art (fakes etc.). The current sticky in General Discussion will remain there (The Screenshot thread) and this will not change. And also, to be clear, the new Media Board will NOT be a place to post Runescape Screenshots, those will remain where they are now. Anyway, let us know what you think of these changes and unless we have any major objections we should be making these changes within a week. Thanks, DarkDude
  8. Drop table. Each drop is assigned a range of numbers. Game generates random number. Number decides drop. it's called probability. When someone says something like a 1/2500 drop rate, it means on average you recieve one 1/2500 of the time. We know this is not GUARENTEED. But when programming in a monster drop table, a probability rate must be chosen. All youre arguing is the semantics of what we call it. Not really. A Drop rates implies the odds directly trend towards that rate. As with the 1/10 rune saved for nature staff. Monster drops never have any proven drop rates, just rough rates made up by players that never truely work. Dragon med from a fire giant is (was) a 1/16000 (most likely 16384 but can't remember if they stated that explicitly) chance as stated by a mod way back. And drop rates DO exist. Say the "drop table" was split into 10 equal segments. 1) Coins 2) Coins 3) Iron Dagger 4) Cheese 5) Dragon med 6) fire runes 7) fire runes 8) coins 9) dragon spear 10) rune plate. Now, each of those 10 slots has a 10% chance of occurring (or 1/10). The chance of coins out of that drop table is 30% or 3/10. Fire runes is a 20%, 2/10 or 1/5 chance. And thus it's got a 1/5 "drop rate". If you killed 10 of those monsters, you'd probably find you'd end up with more coins, then fire runes then whatever else and more likely than not would be missing on one of the drops, at this point maybe you got 5/10 (or 1/2) drop rate of coins. However the more you killed (say you killed 1000) this number would eventually graduate towards the rate of 3/10. While it would never be perfect, the bigger the sample size the one things tend to go towards their drop rate. Now expand that list, make it so it's split up into 5000 segments for example, now if an abyssal whip takes up two of those segments, it has a 2/5000 or a 1/2500 drop rate (or drop chance).
  9. As a tank, you better be ready or else :P Tanked Gundrak HC earlier without letting Divine Plea fall off, should give you an idea of how I tank :P. At this point in the game, I can probably solo 90% of the instance, people are just there for the ride and so I can get my frost emblems :P.
  10. I loved those giant boxes, so fun :D I remember getting Age of Empires and it had a huge poster with all the tech trees on it, I was amazed (was my first RTS).
  11. I already do this. I'm always fairly sure I was using slash against it (Believe I was using a spear of sorts, can't remember which type). Guess I just got unlucky with my hits/being hit. and buying ores for armour? That's at least 6 ore, for level 6 armour that's just less than 120k for it, and if you want to craft a decent weapon first (which is useful as often don't start with one), then that's another 4 bars or so. It's not always feasible to have that much money.
  12. I already said I have a bow binded (level 10), I use ranged more than melee so that's no problem. I also solo so no big group thing. Thanks for the alching tip though, saves leaving all those spare blue charms on the ground.
  13. And the armour and weapons you get are pretty much random, on top of that as is the food you can get. There's not much more I can do with what I was given, just got unlucky with him hitting lots/me being hit a lot. As I said it was close. You're supposed to make your own weapons armor and food sherlock ....some people #-o And because there's an infinite stock of ore and fish in a dungeon, oh wait. There's been some dungeons where I only get one rock in the whole thing, some where I don't any at all. And if I only get 2 ores from those rocks then I can only make some low amount of armour out of that. Same applies to fishing spots. ...some people
  14. The reason the stats are most likely off is that they're based on either: values they planned to update and never got around to implementing in game/changed their name. Or the way around (they lowered in game and forgot to change it on the KB page).
  15. Yep, I even stated that in my post. I don't believe this applies to NPCs though except when the theme changes.
  16. No ore perhaps, in fact in the one where I died to the Behemoth there were two tier 10 rocks, neither of which I can use? I always try and craft myself armour whenever possible, however you need at least 6 pieces to make a chain/legs and as I have a bow made I generally need to make a weapon too unless I get lucky with what I start with. I had tier 6 armour (Zephirum or whatever it's called), so I wasn't exactly going with no armour. The time I fought a boss with no armour, as I said I had very little access to rooms and thus couldn't even afford to buy enough of the cheap ore to craft me a set of armour and there were no ores in the rooms I was in. So there was nothing I could have done to craft any.
  17. So if I'm playing a PC game, I'm expected to alt + tab out of it (which I've found in some cases doesn't work too well) then go online to look for it? If I'm playing Console games I need to be within range of my computer at all times. That's silly.
  18. I've found the combat familiars to be next to useless when I've used them, although I didn't use their scrolls. But from what I've seen even the beast of burdens seem to do more damage. Although I guess even buying the ore for a cheap level 3 familiar is better than nothing. I would have used a beast of burden (I always try to), however no crimson charms dropped, lots of blue charms but no megaleather so was pretty much stuck. On top of that, I already said I depleted all the food resources in the level in the level, thus meaning it would have been holding a grand total of nothing. I agree with the comment about the design floor in the skill, on one level in particular there were two doors I couldn't get through due to not having the skill requirement and thus only had about 2 bonus rooms to explore. With the number of limited resources I ended up having to fight the boss with no armour and very little food. I died about 6-7 times in the end before finally killing him, but there wasn't anything I could do about it due to being limited to rooms. I guess that's just the nature of the skill though.
  19. Tasks seem fairly useless to be honest but I guess give some variety if needed. (Although I only use Kuradel so doesn't effect me). Dungioneering reward prices are now good, actually makes some of them obtainable within the first 50 levels of the skill.
  20. I know how the fight works, that's not the problem. Neither is getting food, I had exhausted all the fishing spots in the dungeon, so getting more food was not an option. I was as stocked up as physically possible going into the fight, was nothing else I could do. Now normally if I die I'd either restock on food, or just brute force the kill, however due to the mechanics of this boss that's not possible. Although apparently you can with a gate.
  21. LOL. What's funny about that?
  22. And the armour and weapons you get are pretty much random, on top of that as is the food you can get. There's not much more I can do with what I was given, just got unlucky with him hitting lots/me being hit a lot. As I said it was close.
  23. Ah, I thought the stone appeared when you cast the spell (have yet to use it). That makes it better then. Cheers
