  1. That was the re-posting of my ogiringal post. Somebody please remove my original thread. I thought there were too many off-the-point posts on that one, and plus it was inactive for like 3 weeks. Anyway, I will make a blank post after this one to house all my numbers and statistics ... once I have some numbers and statistics.
  2. Let me just get straight down to the point. We all remember the person who got a 10k kill count and still got virtually nothing.* However, that this person only killed Bloodworms, right? Well, my recent study suggests that different monsters contribute different types of runes to your reward. (*In this post I will refer to this experiment as study X.") I was doing a routine barrows run the other day, when my computer started to lag, forcing me to refresh my world. In my absence, my char. apparently killed 5-6 skeletons, because I was in a room full of them, and my kill count was a little bit higher than when I had left. Now when I went to open that chest, what should I find but 85 death runes? This was the first time I had gotten anything other than chaos and minds in about 20 runs, so it was pretty nice. Well, I thought about this for a while. Following "study X" I had only been killing the brothers, with no luck. But after the incident explained above, I wasn't so sure. I decided to try and re-create this experiment. After killing the first 5 brothers in my next run, I descended into the tunnel to take care of the last one. However, before I did, I went and killed 8 skeletons, bringing my kill count for that run to 14 after I killed the 6th brother. 14! Fourteen! Absolutely nothing compared to the 10k achieved in "study X". But when I opened the chest, I found almost 100 death runes! Maybe it was just a coincidence. I needed to know. In the next 25 runs, I added between 6-10 skeletons to my kill count. Only an extra 2-3 minutes of work on my part, but at the end of 23 out of those 25 runs I was rewarded with some amount of death runes in addition to the usual minds and chaos. This study suggests that maybe it is not how many of something you kill, but what exactly you are killing in the first place. In "study X", the researcher (an extremely dedicated one I might add) had a kill count of 10k, BUT 99% of that was from Bloodworms. This is where he/she went wrong. If he/she had killed 10k Giant Spiders or Skeletons, I'm not saying he/she would have gotten 80k Death or Blood runes or something like that, but he/she almost certainly would have gotten some, and I can guarantee his/her reward would have been better than what it was. Here is where this post descends into guess-work. I am guessing that each monster adds a specific type of rune to the reward chest in a random quantity. I have made a table illustrating this. --------- Barrows Runes --------- Minds - = - = - Crypt Rats - Crypt Spiders - Brothers Chaos - = - = - Bloodworms - Brothers Deaths - = - = - Skeletons Bloods - = - = - Giant Crypt Rats - Giant Crypt Spiders Now, like I said, this is based on the fact that when I was doing runs with only killing the brothers, I didn't get a single blood or death rune. Now there may be some rare exceptions, but for the most part this chart should hold true. If you are trying to get a specific type of rune, I would concentrate on killing those monsters specifically. Please keep in mind, this study is, as of yet, incomplete. We Tip.it'ers have only just begun to dig into the mountain of secrets and tricks that the Barrows may hold, but I personally am doing my best to reveal these secrets. If somebody would like to conduct this same study on a different monster, that would save me alot of time. Just kill 5-6 of the specific type of monster for the next 25 barrows runs you do, and record your rewards. The more people we have working on this, the faster we can confirm its truth. I will be re-doing this same study, but with Giant Crypt Rats instead of skeletons. Help me out here! Any thoughts? (Kudos to anyone who actually read all that.)
  3. Returned to Rs today. Will ask mods to remove this post. I am going to make a new one, giving the readers a clean slate to express their opinions on. Numbers will follow soon.
  4. i think it did. i think for a while at laest the price jumped. maybe it will keep skyrocketing because of this as well as the other factors. Oh yeah, and this only affected prices because people who owned P-Hats spread around a rumor, telling everyone that many of the people who were banned had owned P-Hats, and therefore there were less in circulation. They used this as an excuse to raise their prices of course. Hopefully nobody was taken in by this, since there was no proof that anyone banned had a P-Hat. And about that article in general ... I think articles like these are just a way for people to show off how many big words they know that relate to the economy, and (in a round-about sort of way) manipulate prices themselves. Sorry, but I would much rather discuss the content in the game than some fictional economy. Let's face it ... Any way you slice it, the RuneScape economy is RUN BY TEENS with high-speed modems. A recipe for disaster ... :)
  5. Like, for example, people would be buying things they actually need. Well, it's not like rares generate any new money in the economy. They just push around the GP which is already in existence, so without the rares, we would still have 10% of the population controlling 90% of the money. They just wouldn't have anything to spend all that money on. Since the rares market never introduced any money into the economy, there would probably be about the same amount of raw GP in circulation. But here's the real brain-buster folks. Chew on this. If people didn't have rares to spend all their money on, and there was still the same amount of money in the economy, then ... A. People would have higher skills (most likely). A reluctance to sell off their rares can be a big issue in people not having enough money to train their stats. B. The average level of wealth would increase. Instead of 1,000 people, each controlling %.099 of the economy, we'd have more of those high level people buying things from the lower level people, instead of spending all their cash on paper hats. :? And finally ... C. The number of people playing RuneScape would be cut by at least %50. That's right. As ridiculous as I think it is, the status that wearing a P-Hat brings is something that many people strive for. Without this long term goal in mind, all the mindless work and boring repitition in RuneScape would seem less worthwhile, and many people would quit after playing only for a short period of time. (Ex. Introduce your friend to the game, all he sees is mindless gruntwork, stops playing after 4 days.) By the way, -C- also applies to extremely expensive armors and weapons, whether they are rare or not. Yes, as much as it sucks folks, the rares-market is a neccessary evil. Not to the RuneScape economy, as many would like to claim, but to the survival of RuneScape on the whole. 8) By the way ... the next time I see my dog eating something, I AM GOING TO GO RIGHT UP TO HIM AND STARE IN HIS FACE UNTIL HE GIVES ME A PIECE OF IT. *mutter*
  6. Sorry, now reviving this post. Going to try and get some more money and return to barrows. Anyway, for those people saying I'm totally crazy, or the few people who actually called me Stupid! ... Well, I have a 163 IQ. My brain makes correlations like this while I sleep for God's sake. But for the people who just can't believe anything without hard evidence, once I return to barrows I'll force so many numbers down your throats that ... You will ... Choke to death on them I guess. You get the point. For people with case-sensitive brains, skip this next part. I WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO LISTEN TO YOUR THEORIES! I ALWAYS HAD CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM TO OFFER, ALWAYS HAD MY OWN COUNTER THEORIES. I ALWAYS HAD HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO HELP YOU ALONG WITH YOUR RESEARCH, ESPECIALLY IN THE AREA OF BARROWS. *I WONT ASK YOU NOT TO SAY SOMETHING WHICH ISN'T NICE, BUT I WILL ASK YOU NOT TO SAY SOMETHING WHICH ISN'T CONSTRUCTIVE*. When will you humans realize that your ... emotions ... will only get in the way of BIG CASH PAY-OFFS!?
  7. I've forgotten to bring a tinderbox with me before. Doesn't neccessarily mean you die ... If you randomly right click in the general direction of the exit into Juna's cave, you are bound to find the way out eventually. Even if your lantern goes out and you don't have a tinderbox, you aren't doomed.
  8. That's too bad there Leesters ... Leading by example will never work in this situation. Hey hey, when somebody around me died at barrows the other day, I returned his Ahrim's Hood and Ahrim's Skirt, plus all his little stuff (even his fury ammy). The very next day I died at barrows, dropping the same items I had returned to the other guy (since I had the same equipment, sans the Fury), and nobody returned them to me. Even after I pmed a person who had been fighting in the same tomb with me, I still am down a good 3M in equipment and runes. Returning peopl's items is great and all, but I am now wishing I had just kept that other person's items, because I am flat broke. (No more barrows researching until I can get back on my feet :? :( )
  9. Heheheh. There should be an entire forum for pointing out interesting little facts like this. Which is to say ... you made your point, nice work, very informative. Do we need 3 pages about it though?
  10. To all you people telling me I'm crazy; Just because it hasn't been proven YET doesn't mean that I can't prove it to be true. And secondly, all further research is now cancelled. Computer lagged out while fighting Karil, woke up in Falador missing about 4m in stuff. Don't quite feel like it anymore. Sorry to anybody who was curious.
  11. Wow. It soudns like you are pulling your info directly from the Tip.it barrows page, rather than from personal experience. And Bloodveld, I did say that I planned to test this on the other monsters. And if you were there helping me with this, it would make it go all the faster. I even said in my post that any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm only one man after all. One incredibly, incredibly sexy man, but one man nonetheless.
  12. Just as I have done with every other post when there have been new Dragon Weapons coming out, I will post this image here. These are some graphics I made when people were guessing at what King Dagganoths would drop. Everybody thought it would be boots, but I had my money on either a warhammer or kite. But since they have those pics of the D Pick and D 2H in the hi-scores, I am betting on one of those. Still, a kite wouldn't be bad. Although whatever it is, I think we can agree it will be breath-takingly expensive for the first few days we have it.
  13. Thanks for the support Urza. I knew I would get some nay-sayers, but the final data will either prove them right or prove me right, so we will see eventually. And Valor .. "Study X" already confirmed that kill count doesn't matter. I'm trying to prove that what you kill matters, not how many of it.

  15. About the mention of the Dragon Pick and Dragon 2H in the hi-scores ... Well, notice that the picture of somebody holding a Dragon 2H doesn't just show a differently colored rune 2H, if you know what I mean. Since they apparently have a look planned for a Dragon 2H, this may be a sign that they are going to add one soon. Same with the pick. Think about that one. EDIT: That is a good idea, but that should only count for useful items. We shouldn't get more bank spaces just because JaGex creates an especialls long quest which has a bunch of items. I mean, that's more items, but who honestly kept the "Sand" from "The Hand In The Sand", or the lump of granite from "Enakhra's Lament"? The only thing like that that I ever kept was the fake person from "Troll Stronghold". :P
  16. If I was going to wear a P-Hat in real life, I would go to a glass-blower and get him to blow me a glass "Blue Party Hat". Then I would get it encrusted with sapphires, and have the name of my RS character etched into the forehead. I'm extravagant like that. :P
  17. Keep other people in mind when you are considering these things. Just because an update has no use to you doesn't mean that it's completely useless. EDIT: Although I will side with you on one point ... We need some slayer monsters that don't suck. Like another Abyssal Demon or something. Pity that dark beasts don't drop anything unique.
  18. The more wight you are carrying, the faster your energy drains. The higher your agility is, the faster your energy restores. End of story, don't need a 3 page thread about it. EDIT: ALSO! Energy does not restore when you are running. Only when you are either walking or not moving. If you have your button set on run, then it will still restore, but the second you start running around, your energy will stop restoring and will start to go down. I thought all of this was basic knowledge. :?
  19. I have managed to make absoultely no profit with Teleblock mage pking. Fill me in on the What's/Where's/When's, k?
  20. This happened to me once in the tunnel. I was sitting there killing Guthan, but he just didn't want to go down, and then after about 15-20 fire waves he said "We'll finish this later ...". That was the first time I got a Warspear. The only time, in fact ... What was your reward from that chest?
  21. To all the people who said "I would sell my account on E-bay." Well ... While you could easily get $500k or so for a max total level account (since there is only one in the world), would you really want to sell it after putting 5 years of effort into it? Nah, I talked to Zezima a few times (see signature), And he had always said he would have a massive drop party when he reached max total level, but I guess he kind of gave up on that idea. Pity, since when I took that screenshot he was wearing a blue phat, and said he had a few entire P-Hat sets in his bank ...
  22. The MOST USELESS THING IN THE GAME!! Is that little spot out in f2p wild, by the east ocean, where the ground is all black and burnt. If you happent to stand in just the right spot, you will get stuck behind a bunch of useless ground and just have to sit there. No matter where you click on your mini map, you wont move, and the only way out is to move space by space by clicking on the ground surrounding you.
  23. OMG good idea! Summoning! But you shouldn't be able to summon a lesser, maybe a weak creature so normal players could escape but autoers couldn't! Umm .. Even if they did release summoning, I doubt you'd be able to set your monsters on unsuspecting players in RS. Then what would stop you from doing it just to annoy people, or to kill lower level players even when they weren't autoing? Just saying ...
  24. "Rune scape account banned for 3-days for macroing." I know Jagex is trying to get rid of all the cheaters and macro-ers in the game, but I have never used a macro in my life. :? I just ... I sent a customer service query asking what exactly I did that made them think I was macro-ing. Really .. I can understand them not wanting cheaters in their game, but that just goes a step too far.
  25. Thank you so much! You have done all of us professional Barrowers a great service today. Now we can rest easy, knowing that we aren't missing out if we open the chest with a kill count of 6. You should be given a medal, or some sort of special standing on the forum ... Like, "Tip.it Researcher" or something like that. The kill count and its affect on your rewards has long been a controversial issue. Now we see, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it does NOT matter. Thank you again, very much. :? :) :D
