world 16 air altar? I work there as a crafter lol... I got 1.85mil and 18500 ess and 40k something ess, I really don't think 500 ess is that much of a loss. Besides, thanks to the new update, there are two types of runes now, normal and pure. Normal, which can be turned into airs are only 20gp each. You just lost 10k, that is VERY easy to earn for any member, and if your a free player, just do 4 runs at world 16 as a runner, thats 10000gp! Not that hard to earn back :) .

Personally, I don't think we need something like that. I believe half the blame falls on not the scammer, but the person who didn't check the second trade screen. Anyone who got scammed like that obviously didn't check the second screen. It is clearly written out what the item(s) are.
