  1. I'd call 2 or 3 players out of millions of accounts that are only at risk if they happen to be reported and then reviewed by the humans who then make an error in judgement as close to absolutely risk free as any system could ever get that involves the potential for human error.

Thats like 1/6666th of a percent at risk (if you assume 2m accounts) and even then they are only at risk when they both get reported enough to be flagged AND the human reviewing the data makes an error in judgement.

Besides the "system" is this instance is NOTHING automated of computerised.

It is reports from human players triggering a review by human staff at Jagex.

Where they then look at a plain log of actions taken on the account.

The only "fault" in any "system" here is that the players are so efficient the log data of their action looks near identical to that produced by a bot unless subject to extreme scrutiny.

I know it is very small group out of the many millions etc, thank you :p.

All I am pointing at is how, out of all the things in the world, could trigger something like this as an efficient player. That isn't supposed to be able to happen, no matter if a human or computer check for this kind of trigger.

Now I am wondering who that individual was that got banned by playing so efficient. Also I think lots (if not nearly all) of the complainers are actually persons who botted once or twice.

I really wonder this as well. It ought to be a streamer, some high-ranked player or someone who is at least a little well known.

Also, how can Jagex have bot systems who even have the potential to trap innocent but effective players in the net? That is just terrible design. And I say that as a developer myself.

A system without false positives, especially as difficult as botwatch would be nearly impossible. Of course this shouldn't have happened, but we don't know the numbers. We don't know how many bots they banned. If there are only 2-3 false positives within 1.000.000 bans than I think it is a good system.

Also it should be noted it was NOT a system that trapped these players.

It was a HUMAN reviewing data.

Plus they said they have only ever seen 2 or 3 players efficient enough to look like bots to human review AND he only got investigated due to bot reports.

It's not like this is some glaring flaw in the system that is hitting hundreds of innocents.

It's 1 player who is part of a tiny, single digit, set of players efficient enough for their play data to look bot-like without very very very close scrutiny who only got looked at due to reports of botting and then was banned by human error because the data looks so bot like until it was looked at extremely closely.

I'd call that a pretty respectable margin of error.

Maybe it is because I am Swedish and belong to one of the most risk-afraid populations of the world, but I really believe that a system like this must be as close to "absolutely risk free" as possible. If some people could get permanent bans just because they played efficiently then the systems (not only including the computer parts) needs to get redone.

  4. At the top of my list would probably be advancment of the Younger Gods and Elder Gods storylines. New discoveries, new lands to explore and more lore would all be awesome. There's still so much we have yet to get to know about. Of course, I would also love quite a few mysteries from the Fifth Age to be answered as well.

That plus of course the new game client.

  5. From what I read, they said that Santa would have the things for you regardless of if you could pull the cracker or not. Seems like they may have glitched it, so hopefully it'll be fixed on monday :)

I really hope so. The cracker was pulled too late for me to be up yesterday.

  6. You've completed the shadow sword miniquest too, right? That was something keeping a lot of people from getting it on release day.

I missed this part. You basically got to do all the Zaros related miniquests, FotG and MPD to make Sliske appear inside the Citadel's main hall. It is first when you try to exit the main hall that Sliske appears.

Will probably regret posting this when it's nerfed but:

I hid it so it's link only, but you can do Agility without moving your mouse at all during Voice of Seren (look at video for instructions)

So during voice of seren I guess this will make it the same spam click method as dwarf traders but with Agility/Pray xp  :P

Same as what I posted in the thread of Elf city if you missed.

Lel, that method is slow. The most efficient way i have found is that you click the next obstacle just when you are about to complete the last one. It will make your character continue as fast as with Velocity. There is one obstacle that can't be right clicked during completing the last one, but that is where you set your velocity to kick in. Thank god for 34 second laps.

This is what I did for my 200 laps. It really is quite some good agility xp.

  8.

If you're maxed the code might go berserk.  Error: lowest skill not found!

Well not really, but I wonder if it goes for any skill or just takes the ones with lowest xp.

any skill but alot more (75%) for your 5 lowest skills.

    edit: Sorry for double post

Yes but my point was: if you have more than 5 skills tied at lowest, what's it do: count all of them, or differentiate by lowest xp?  I've seen it do the latter before.

It would most probably differentiate based on xp.

  9. Yeah this promo is insane >.>

Indeed is. 25% extra from a normal lamp/star? That is OP. 75% extra than from a normal lamp/star for 5/26 skills? That is just crazy.

Damn this promo is insane. If someone got any extra keys, please hit me up. Trying to make some 2k14 gainzzzz

I will probably have some later this afternoon. Care to add me in-game and just PM me when on? I'll make sure to try to contact you.

(Also: Tre Kronor > Leijonat fellow eastern brother ;) )

  10. I believe monsters should be aggressive, as it somehow makes the world more "real" to me. An enraged dragon shouldn't care if you happen to be maxed and have two drygores on your back as well as a super anti fire potion active; It should try to kill you anyway. But I really don't care that much.

  11. It seems like a rather full month to me; Both the elf city update and the elder gods' quest will be big pieces of content. I am sure that both of them have taken a ton of work. More than the average release as of recently for sure. And before someone comments something along "Ninja updates etc doesn't count, Jagex have just turned lazy as *beep* recently, and no longer gives us proper updates bla bla"; We haven't had a no-update week for a very long time now. Certainly not every update have been huge, but isn't it important that we get small add-ons that increases the playing experience as well?

I am myself mostly looking forward to the quest, as the lorehound I am. Hopefully we get to know more about the golems; They seem to be very important.

  12.

    I have planned.. nothing. Haha.

Might use those 25k corrupt ore though. Do brawlers stack?

    Come mine with me brah

    Warbands don't stack either :^ )

I heard some rumors that they extended the time for the weekend. Can anyone confirm (Preferably with sources)

    • Don't forget - it's Double XP this weekend, running from 12:00 GMT on October 31st until 12:00 GMT on November 3rd. Get prepared!

  13. I have to say of all the things to cut due to budget that book was kinda the worst since it y'know actually explains like 50% of the plot and also makes me wish I'd of opted for the bad ending.

I have to say that I don't agree on your statement of that the lore book was kinda the worst thing to cut. I am a lorehound myself and trust me when I say that I really, really would have loved to seen that lore book in game. Especially as I myself was more or less stuck at the part of the quest where you have just discovered the most southern, long corridor in the basement. I easily found my way to the room with the coffins. There though, as there was nothing to discover, I more or less gave up on exploring the whole basement and instead started searching through the whole mansion again. This as I was so sure at if there was something new to discover in the basement it would have to be in the empty coffin room and not the corridor leading to it.

As for why I do think Jagex did the right choice on cutting the book though: Pure text can easily be spread in other mediums. Game graphics, atmosphere and pretty much all other quest-attributes can only be experienced in-game. Certainly there's an irritation caused by plot-holes. But Jagex knows that those of us players that are really interested in the lore and storyline of the game usually search for information not only in the game itself. Therefore; In a choice of cutting something out, Jagex, or rather Mod Ollie, cut out the lorebook. Which he knew he could make public by putting it up on the forums. In a thread which takes like what, 3 clicks to reach from the main page?

I understand where you are coming from and I certainly agree that the book should be in game. But I believe Jagex did the right choice when they chose to cut the lorebook out.
