  1.

Shifting focus does not make it 'optional content'.

Yes it is. They have completely trivialized PVP content, diminished it, neglected it, and removed it as mainstream Runescape activity. It still exists, but it was more or less a niche activity that you could do if you wanted, and nothing more. It's like staking. Yes it exists, but it's a marginal and niche activity that is very much optional and a not a focus of the game in any sense.

You forgot about "completely destroyed by the mighty destruction hammer of Jagex".

But yeah, I fully agree. PvP is as alive as a pet rock.

  2. I read this thread every now and again. Every time I am impressed by how much devotion some players have to reach that magical 200M xp milestone. To me 100 hours per week is an extreme amount, and yet people here only speak about it as "going at his own pace", as if it was nothing special at all. I mean how the beep does these guys earn a living? I think I have so little time over nowadays, but for these guys, with all the RS playtime they take on, they can't have time for even visiting the WC...

Still I got to say I am impressed by their motivation.

  3. I think they could have tried a lot harder to meet there goal of 8 quests at the start of the year.  Its quite strange that they openly said, we have taken on board feedback that there wasn't enough quests, so will be doing more, and then did nothing to even try achieve it. Seems poor leadership to me. Perhaps the elf city has just taken far more time and resources than they thought.   But given that 2 of the 5 quests we've had so far this year used recycled graphics, and shadow over ashdale was pretty menial, the amount of genuine time invested in quests is arguably even less this year.

There was such momentum with the dawn of the sixth age last year, now it seems if we have 2 more pieces of content related to the sixth age in the next 12 months we'll be lucky. I know the world events were controversial in that they required quite a bit of time just for a temporary event, but there seems to be very little intention to do one of  a similar scale to the last ones again any time soon.

Agreed. I really wonder what happened that changed their, as it appeared anyway, big focus on developing quests? Jagex actually got some great storywriters (handling 13 years of lore really can't be easy at all times). It is a pity we most probably will continue down the wrong road for the rest of this year at least.

  4. In the RuneFest streams they mentioned this year, and I know Deg and Raven are actually developing it atm (well, Raven has this week off, but they are developing it now.) Can't guarantee it will be this year, delays suck but they happen. However it is planned for this year.

Sucks that Rite of Passage hasn't been made yet. It, like many updates, got screwed over when they decided on PttP polls. But I'm hoping with that now in place, and RuneFest seeming a lot more realistic, instead of saying everything under the sun they'd love to do, that less updates get canned or sidelined.

Agreed. Jagex have been releasing way fewer quests than they used to the last 2 years, which simply sucks. I believe that one of the strongest points of this game is its deep and amazing storyline. With fewer quests released this storyline progresses slower. And this causes RuneScape to miss out on the chance of expanding this strong point further. This is especially sad when you remember that we have just progressed into a new Age where there's so much interesting new storyline content to explore. I mean, just exploring the returned Gods' plans for what they wish to do now once they are back could probably take up like at least 10+ quests. And they don't all have to resolve around lore exploring of course. They could include combat, new skill unlocks (coupled with divination etc) and other perks that could be attractive to skillers, killer and everything between.

Certainly there needs to be a balance between updates. But I think most RS players agrees on that this low pace of the release of quests needs to be upped. Unless we get a quests' explosion in November and December we will have had another year of 6 (maybe 7) quests. To compare; We got 9 quests during 2012 and 2011.

  5. Seeing what one odd adventurer can achieve in one year, it's no wonder what could happen in 30 years to Crandor and its infrastructure.

This is so true. Our adventurer really should be burnt-out after all this questing. We deserve a ten-year period of peaceful fishing for shrimps/those other very low level fishes in Taverly by now.

  6. I could recommend my own clan to you then ^^. We are the Crystal Wings, a social and lore focused clan. There are no requirements to enter and we often hang out together, chat a lot and have plenty of fun.

Feel free to check out our recruitment thread here for more info about us: [qfc]93-94-65-65470711[/qfc]

Please do contact me in-game or send me a message on here if you are interested and I can send you an invite.

  7. I have been running around Prifddinas for quite a few hours now, and I got to say that this is one amazing update. An update that I have personally waited for for more than 5 years. So far, even though only half of the city is out yet, it has lived up to all I dreamed of it to be. That and a huge lot more. There's elves everywhere. The houses are "crystally" without being overly "bloomy" (as in reflecting too much light or glowing in ways which just makes it look silly). There's plenty of bits of lore. There's more than enough good content to keep the city alive and popular among players for a long, long time. There's a whole lot of functionality and features to make every player's daily routines easier (portals!). There's a feeling of that this really is the city, not only for the elves, but for all of Gielinor. Just like it should be as it is a high-level hub, only for those who have gone through all the light puzzles of the elf series' quests and got level 75+ in a multitude of skills. And it's truly like no other city. Like no other area in the whole of the game. It has it all, to me, and I am so very happy to finally see it in game after this long, long, long wait.

    Simply awesome, Jagex.

  8. I believe MMG have done a good work at Jagex. Certainly the SoF and SGS could be discussed. Especially as Jagex claimed that they would never EVER introduce microtransactions. But then he have kept it at, at least as I see it, reasonable standards. During his time as a CEO Jagex have also indeed got better at listening to the players. I mean, a couple of years ago, who would have thought we would get to vote on which quests we would like to see next in the game? I certainly didn't anyway.

Now I hope Mod Pips will do even better. RS still has a whole lot of potential for improvements of all kinds.

Just some good to know information about the author of this thread, and since this whole troll discussion is blossoming within this thread anyway:

I am not anti-gay by the way, just putting that in. You to me just became a whole lot less trustworthy though. If you really are interested in making RS better for gay people I don't think you would lie about who you are in game.

that is not me what the hell

Well, that is rather obvious. But it is who you say you are by your username - as well as in RSN and RSN in OSRS. So; Who are you?

i am grooviestdog but i never said that, i havent been logged in for the last 4 hours online

Observe1st is what I have been told is your real username. If you wish to support gay rights, why not just create an account on here that is linked to that one (by stating it as your RSN) and promote a gay event through that one? It should make people recognize you easier and the discussion can also continue in-game. I really fail to see any other reason to why you are acting like you are right now unless you really are trolling. If that is what you are doing that is just horrible. The gay community really deserves some discussion and to be brought up "in the spotlight" in the gaming world. But to do it in this way is totally wrong.
