  1. We massed up for our PK at 4EST and started off with 84 options. We peaked at ~105 during the trip.

After hopping to W32, we rushed BH and found LND (?). We quickly began transitioning with swift KOs before they ran into single at BH. We strolled around for a few minutes before running into LND again at CWA. This time, although most were in single, some ventured out multiple times and we racked up ~10 kills without any casualties.

At this point, we found Wilderness Guardians and The Sabres who were having a joint PK trip. We found them near the northern steps of BH and after a disorganised start, BK rushed in and created a small cluster. We doubled back before re-rushing WG/TS at Chaos Dwarves and transitioned for several kills.

After this, we hunted WG/TS around the lower Wilderness for about an hour with brief skirmishes between us, WG/TS and BK occurring at regular intervals. We hopped to W21 after about 2 hours and ran into Vengeance with about ~45 options, so we claimed a few kills off their members. After about 2.5 hours, our options were dropping so we called an end to our trip after a fairly bloody encounter with BK which resulted in fairly heavy casualties for both sides.

Thanks for keeping the Wilderness active today. It was nice to see W32 so lively. Sorry about posting this late - I had to leave mid-trip so didn't have an opportunity to write a recap.

  2. The situation was the same in 2004-7. There are always those who join clans expecting success, and leave when their dreams aren't realised. It's a cruel reality, but it's nothing that we can verify.

It would be possible to say that clan loyalty is greater than ever, in fact. Who would return for ~12 hours back in 2005? I'm sure a few would, but a large amount of members in the largest clans would return for that length of time nowadays. It's insane.

  3. As preparation for our fight on Sunday, I approached Downfall for some wars. After originally asking for PvP but being declined, we agreed to the following rules:

    • CWA Matched +/- 3 - Classic Centre bounds - Best 2/3
    • Higher pull attacks first round, then opposite
    • Ring allowed
    • No corrupt
    • Melee/binds/range

    Round 1: Starting

    Gladz: 31

    Downfall: 34 (cut from 37)

    Round 1: Summary

As DF rushed, 2 of our members DC'ed and it looked like they may halt our momentum. However, we regained composure and started binding well. In combination with our strong amount of rangers and meleers, we quickly KO'ed most of our targets. We finished with 22 members.

    Round 1: Ending

    Gladz: 22

    Downfall: 0

    Round 2: Starting

    Gladz: 29

    Downfall: 31

    Round 2: Summary

Instead of starting off badly like the previous round, we quickly began KO'ing targets left, right, and centre. We killed their officials and snipers quickly which explains the lower ending, but our performance was excellant. We finished with 19 fighters.

    Round 2: Ending

    Gladz: 19

    Downfall: 0

    Thanks for the fight, Downfall.

  4. The extent of The Alliance nowadays is that we regularly AC for each other and have extra forums to spam on. They enhance the community aspect of clanning since I'm friends with far more people than I would from being in a single clan. The PK'ing isn't bad either. TA had a small mass on Thursday and hit a few clans including RSD/VR which was fun.

  5. A fight was set up against NBK+TBE for today with the following Rules:

    • Full Out CWA
    • Melee + Binds Only
    • Rings Allowed
    • No Corrupt
    • North Spawn Attacks

Gladz Starting: 45 (with one dc)

    NE Starting: 43

The fight started off pretty bad for us due to not being able to land a bind on our first pile. As soon as we managed to kill our first pile, we reorganized ourselves and managed to get transition after transition. Our string of KO's coupled with our snipers gave us the win.

    Gladz Ending: 31

    NE Ending: 0

I approached Hell Army a few days ago and organised a fight with the following rules:

    • Matched Options
    • Tree to Tree Boundaries
    • Melee & Binds ONLY
    • Rings allowed
    • No Corrupt
    • Higher pull defends
    • 3 sniper cap

    Starting:

    Gladz: 75

Hell Army: 84 (cut to 75)

    ha002.png

Our turnout was fairly average. Nothing compared to our 35 on Tuesday, but nothing to be ashamed of.

    Summary:

As the fight began, we had a fairly consistent pile but gradually allowed them to creep ahead because we didn't tank effectively. As the fight wore on, we killed a fair amount of people who were sniped down but because our tanking was inconsistent, they built up a small lead. This prevented our binds and after all a while, it led to a 4 vs 4. This continued for a long amount of time - the fight lasted 80 minutes in total - but at the end, we finished with 6 options remaining.

Good fight, HA. If you have any issues with the fight, feel free to PM me.

  7. Surprising to see a clan with 73 members only pull 32 people to a war they initiated

    We pulled 35.

Anyway, good job, Poison. We cut most of our higher ranked members and were instantly at a disadvantage after you had a first-pile KO and I DC'ed early on. Regardless, good job and I look forward to further fights.

  8. With so many clans closing recently you guys need to step it up and finally do something tangable...you used to be the #1 clan for goodness sake, show some passion!

We lack numbers, that's all. We can pull ~50% of our ML mid-week and out-organise most clans in PvP but clans are only growing thesedays due to the closures of other clans. And the only clans that dominate the media enough to benefit are the top 5 clans, not the top 20.

And y'all let some clan call themselves the Legendary Gladiators? years ago we'd have made it our mission to destroy them for stealing our clan name...so disappointing

We managed to get them to accept a war a few weeks ago. They cancelled 2 days before it was scheduled. We will probably fight them in the near-future, but they've been declining us for weeks.

  9. I'll allow this to remain open at the moment. However, if there are any ramifications from this topic (e.g. racial stereotyping), it will be instantly locked.

  10. Yeah but there isn't as much interested in joining clans as there were before. They're there, but just not interested.

A view that is entirely understandable.

'Hey, want to give up 4-5 hours of your Saturday evening every week?'

'Why on Earth would I want to do that?'

'What if we sweeten the deal by wanting you to be available for 1-2 hours for another 3-4 days each week?'

    'Get away from me.'

As that shows, the clan world is unappealing to an objective observer. It was fantastic when a single kill would compensate for a single death. Now, however, you easily have 10+ deaths per fight and if you gain a kill, it's 1) hard to bank and 2) doesn't pay for a single death.
