  1. :) A cold bottle of beer.
  2. 0/10 Never seen you to be honest. :|
  3. Gonna borrow my friend's AV cable, and see how that goes. Hopefully, that's the problem. Then I can simply buy a new one.
  4. Well, so far so good. Only thing is, as you can see, it's a thumbnail. Meaning it makes it look very small on the forums. HOWEVER, I clicked it, and it brought me to the picture full size, so all's good! EDIT: Oh my! I feel horrible! I just found out that another crewbie has already gotten the pic, and it's ready for uploading. I just found out now. -.- Made you go through all that for nothing. 'Least you found out how to upload pics! However, since I made you go through all that trouble, you'll still be credited for helping out. Thanks!
  5. Thank you very much! Has been corrected, and you've been credited. Keep it up! :P
  6. Thanks! I've always enjoyed helping out with the site. And now that I'm part of the Crew, it's awesome! :P
  7. No need to, as it's already done. Thank you for wanting to help though, and for telling us of the change! :P
  8. These were all said before the new server was up, however it got deleted, so I'm re-adding it incase you need it still. To be honest, whatever you want. Although, everything is starting to become more HD-oriented, so taking the pic in high-def works also.
  9. I don't know if this is right, or if this might screw you up, so don't try without someone else confirming I'm thinking you make your disk drive (E: I presume, as it's your dvd drive) as your bootable drive through BIOS. Put in your XP disk in your dvd drive, then restart computer. It'll have the XP disk as the boot up drive, which I'm guessing will let you have the option of installing XP. Choose the Y: drive, then install. AGAIN, PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS WITHOUT SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING CONFORIM THIS, AS I PROBABLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.
  10. There seems to be a problem with my Xbox 360; the video won't show, but I can hear the sound. I'm using a standard T.V., so I'm naturally using the yellow AV cable (which is plugged into the right outlet, because it is in the same outlet as when the Xbox 360 was working). The switch on the back is set to TV, and on the Xbox 360 dashboard it's always been set to standard def. Any ideas?
  11. Can someone help me with my BIOS? For my SATA drives, it asks whether I want to run them in IDE, RAID, or AHCI. I know not to run RAID, as I'm only running one HDD, but does AHCI work in Vista? Should I set up my HDD to run as ACHI or IDE before Windows installation?
  12. Yeah well, I fail at searching. I have fixed the problem. Thanks again OldJoe! There was a fan about 1.5 inches from where the wires came out of the power supply that really worried me. Looked like they would chew up the wires. However, I figured out I could remove the fan. Now, I don't have to buy another intake fan...just use that one. The CPU, HSF, RAM, Mobo, and HDD are installed. Just need to do the Video card, DVD burner, jumpers, and necessary wires, then I'm ready to install Windows! \
  13. K thanks OldJoe! I applied the thermal paste, and installed the HSF. Now, I'm trying to install the motherboard. However, the case manual says to install the stand-offs, then install the motherboard....What's a stand-off?
  14. K just making sure 'cause a lot of people say to put a dot in the middle and then spread it across the heatspreader with a finger/card. So, just put a dot in the middle and put the HSF on, then push it down and tighten it (in my case, it's push-pins)?
  15. They do, but they say to put a thin line vertically:
  16. Do I need to spread the paste? Or just put a tiny dab and put the HSF on top? Btw, the bottom of my HSF looks like so:
  17. Hello all. I'm planning on building a computer now, and I have all the parts, but I'm been wondering about a few things. Specs: Intel e8400 3.0Ghz CPU Asus P5Q-e Motherboard Arctic Silver 5 Thermal paste OCZ Vendetta 2 HSF Antec P182 case Problem #1: [hide=Thanks OldJoe!]First of all (and I'll add things until I'm done building the computer), how much thermal paste do I put on my CPU? I know how to put it on, but what I don't know is how much. If anyone could provide pictures, or anything else, I'd be really grateful. Thank you.[/hide] Problem #2: [hide=Thanks again OldJoe!]My case manual says that before I install the motherboard, I have to install the stand-offs. Any idea what this means?[/hide] Progress: Windows left! \ Can someone help me with my BIOS? For my SATA drives, it asks whether I want to run them in IDE, RAID, or AHCI. I know not to run RAID, as I'm only running one HDD, but does AHCI work in Vista? Should I set up my HDD to run as ACHI or IDE before Windows installation?
  18. If you're standing on a carpet (why not just sit on a chair?), don't move your feet (especially while wearing socks) or you'll touch your motherboard/RAM and fry it.
  19. About the CPU, it really depends what you plan on doing. If you game a lot, get a dual-core and overclock. If you do heavy multi-tasking and/or video editing, choose a quad-core. No point in a quad-core if all you do is play games which don't take advantage of all 4 cores. ;) And anyway, 45nm e8400> 65nm q6600 in power efficiency (unless you OC your dual core, in which case all power savings are gone  ) About the OS, go with Vista, unless you plan on playing 16-bit games. Vista is getting better, and was just like XP was in the beginning. It's getting better, don't worry. :) And seriously, go for an ATI 4850 over an 8800gt. Or, wanna spend $100 more? Buy a 4870! :D
  20. +1
