One of my first encounters with a scammer went something like this (via pm): Scammer: Hi I am from Jagex. *I was still fairly new to RS at this time, but unfortunately for this guy, I'm not an idiot. At this point, I reported him.* Me: Hi Scammer: I have been receiving reports that you were scamming people. Scammer: Is this true? Me: What's it to you? *I thought I made it clear to him with that last statement that he wasn't going to convince me of anything. But he pressed on...* Scammer: I need to know if these reports are true or not. Scammer: Are they? Me: Why do you need to know? *Hmm... he's not cooperating. Maybe he'll believe I'm a mod if he thinks I'm capable of spying on him...* Scammer: You are in the Dwarven mine, correct? Me: I was a minute ago... Scammer: And you are level 57, correct? *This was a long time ago* Me: Yes, and that's all information that you can find simply by looking at me. *To be honest, I really wasn't sure what he was getting at. Maybe he was going to use these "reports" to blackmail me, and ultimately get some items or money.... Anyway, now he started getting frustrated.* Scammer: Look, just tell me, yes or no, have you been scamming people? Me: Tell me why you need to know first. Scammer: Fine, if you're not going to tell me, I'll just ban you. Scammer: Say bye to your account. I didn't end up saying that I reported him, and that he should say bye to his account. I thought it was pretty entertaining just imagining his reaction when he logged in a few days later to find that his account had been locked.
