The reason why I put it more into herbs is because there is no guarantee that you will get a lot of tree seeds. Sure there is a chance, but there's no guarantee. At least with herbs if you get a few hundred, that's a nice profit. However, with that being said, I still find it worth it putting a good amount into maples as well because you do end up getting a fair profit with seeds anyway. I've just found that I've gotten more profit with herbs than tree seeds unless I get really lucky. Crushed nests are usually for brews, but with the large variety of potions available compared to that one secondary ingredient, I would feel safer doing herbs.

These forums were created in 2004 (phpBB) and probably went live in summer 2004 judging by the sudden increase in non-staff registrations. I'm not old school enough to remember before these boards unfortunately, but you can still find those posts by searching by post date. Like obfuscator already mentioned, there was a rollback that took away a few months posts in 2008. That would explain the sudden vacancy in posts during a period of time.

I like this idea because it decreases the potential for them to be botted. Especially if there's good drops to be had. Slayer has no rewards apart from the Vine Whip. Whip, granite maul, boots, masks, dark bow? The point is, you don't need to train slayer to get those items, you can just buy them from other players. They only come into the game through Slayer. They can't be smithed or made.

I personally add the full bar of herbs and the rest on maples. In addition to doing MTK I usually farm herbs on the side as well.
