  1. I found the "Rune Tips Ranged Damage Table" within the Ranged Guide, however it is about ranging at "Accurate". I need an accurate table or formula to convert this into "Rapid" mode, please. Thanks in advance.
  2. Phat, I guess?
  3. Question #1: What is your favorite quest? Prince Ali Rescue - The only "agility shortcut" effect quest on F2P. Question #2: What do you think is the hardest skill to train? Prayer and Runecrafting Question #3: What do you think is the easiest skill to train? All combat related skills, Woodcutting and Fishing Question #4: What is your favorite skill? Ranged Fishing Prayer (makes you feel that you really achieved something)
  4. Well, not quite. Let's see: Moss Giant vs Lesser Demon Range XP: Moss Giant has 60 HP that gives 240 XP; Lesser Demon has 79 HP that gives 316 XP. However, Lesser Demon takes longer time to re-spawn. Moss Giant wins. Player Competition: Lesser Demon is located in a single-combat area. There's chance that you may lose your target. There isn't much chance for you to control more than 1 target when there are several players around. Moss Giant is located in a multi-combat area. You won't stop shooting and you will lead the competition as a good archer. Moss Giant wins. Other Skill Developing: Undoubtedly Moss Giant. You can get big bones constantly. Self-supplying & Profit: Lesser Demon has occasional Rune Med drop, no arrow drop. Other than that, it is similar to Moss Giant. Moss Giant drops 15 iron arrows or 30 steel arrows, plus a lot of Runes and Steel Bars. I prefer Moss Giant. Food Supply: Ignorable. You can use safe spots at both location. However, Lesser Demon will attack when you run out of the safe spot to retrieve arrows. Banking: Ignorable. At Lesser Demon, most of the loots will be hi-alched onsite and all the rest are stackable (runes). At Moss Giants, it's about the same. But if you want those steel bars, that's a different story. So, overall, I prefer Moss Giant even at high level of Range. However, as I said in my guide, if you have a couple thousand of bronze or iron arrow that you don't want, you could just dump them at the Lesser Demon locked in Wizard Tower. That's just a teaser, not the main course. =] Thanks for the advice.
  5. Von Critic's F2P Self-supporting Ranger Guide Strategy Outline - Self-supporting arrow flow All targets we train with are having sufficient arrow drop. At every training stage, we retrieve our arrows at 4/5 of chance, getting arrow supplies from the target, and gathering arrows for the next stage. - 100% immune to arrow theft Put "max hit / average hit calculation" in mind. Try to focus on those targets that could be killed in less than 12 shots with Rapid mode ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ that's about the time for 6 scimmy swings and definitely enough time for you to retrieve your arrows before it become visible to others. - Multi-combat Advantage An archer's firing speed at Rapid mode with Short Bow, is about 1/2 of the time of 1 scimmy swing. With a max hit over 10 (Level 66 with Steel Arrow), you will be dominating most of the multi-combats against monsters. When you are getting a higher level, or using better arrows, your advantage over warriors and mages will be overwhelming! Thus, "multi-combat" is a key issue when choosing a training spot. - Optimized XP reward - Minimal food expending even for pures (enough said =]) Ranger Equipment Novice Ranger Armor (Level 1-20): There is a pack of items (crafted from leather) that I'd suggest you to buy from stores, other players, or to craft it yourself before you start training from Level 1 ranging. It WILL speed up your growth during the "stone age" of archery. - Cowl: head gear +1 to range attack - Leather body: +2 to range attack, available in Varrock Clothes Shop. Or: - Hard Leather body: +8 to range attack, requires Level 10 Defence (sorry pures), always available in Al Kharid General Store (lots of f2p crafters cash them here) - Leather Chaps: +4 to range attack - Vambraces: +4 to range attack Intermediate Ranger Armor (Level 20-40, not for pures): - Coif: head gear +2 to range attack, requires Level 20 Range, available in Champion's Guild - Studded Leather Body: +8 to range attack, requires Level 20 Range and Defense, available in Varrock Armor Shop - Studded Leather Chaps: +6 to range attack, requires Level 20 Range, available in Varrock Armor Shop - Vambraces Advanced Ranger Armor (Level 40+, not for pures): - Coif - Green Dragonhide Body: +15 to range attack, requires Level 40 Range and Defense. You'd need to finish Dragon Slayer quest to wear it, available at Oziach (in Edgeville) - Green Dragonhide Chaps: +8 to range attack, requires Level 40 Range, available in Champion's Guild - Green Dragonhide Vambrace: stats same as above Pure Ranger Armor (no Defence Level): - Coif (or Blue Wizard Hat) - Leather Body (or Blue Wizard Robe) - Green Dragonhide Chaps (you could switch to Leather Chaps when you become a high level Mage Ranger, sacrificing Range Attack bonus.) - Green Dragonhide Vambrace Amulet: The only suggested amulet for f2p ranger is the Amulet of Power (Enchanted Diamond Amulet, +6 to all) with an estimated price of 10K GP to buy from other players. If you are short of GP at the beginning, get an Amulet of Accuracy (+4 to all attack) instead. Bows: All f2p bows are available in Varrock Archery Shop. The best bow for f2p is Maple Bow (requires Level 30 Range). Before that, you could use Willow Bow (requires Level 20 Range), Oak Bow (requires Level 5 Range), and normal Bows / crossbows (novice). At the very beginning, you may find crossbow pretty handy since you could also wield a Wooden Shield or Anti-dragon shield, and the Bolts are cheaper than Bronze Arrows. However, you'd definitely go for maple when you get Level 30 Range. Always remember that Short Bow fires faster than Long Bow. Always put your ranging attack mode on "Rapid" while training. Desirable Targets Novice Stage (Range Level 1-40, Bronze Arrow) During the "stone age" of archery, the target is clear: 1. Level up to 40; 2. Be self-supporting, every arrow counts, sustain your arrow supply by chicken feather / cowhide and make as much profit as possible. So: Range Level - Target ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Level ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ HP ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Profit Level 1 to 20 - Chicken - 1 - 3 - Chicken Feather (0,5 or 15) Level 20 to 40 - Cow - 2 - 8 - Cowhide (1) Stage 1 (Range Level 40-57, Max Hit with Bronze/Iron 6-7, Average Hit 3) Comparing to all other low level ranging spots, Barbarian Village Pub is the best I'd say. It is a multi-combat area so you'd never lose your target. It has big herd of quick re-spawning targets. There's even Cooked Meat re-spawn on the bar table! The alternative spot with thief is in Varrock ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Phoenix Gang Hideout. If you are not able to get in there, however, you could go for the Guards. Another great spot at this level would be the Dark Wizard Circle south of Varrock. You will get a great load of all F2P runes except Death Rune, but you won't get any arrow drop. Target ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Level ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ HP ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Droppable Arrow Barbarian - 9 - 20 - Bronze (15) Barbarian - 10 - 18 - Bronze (15) Barbarian - 14 - 24 - Bronze (15) Barbarian - 15 - 24 - Bronze (15) Gunthor the Brave (Barbarian) - 29 - 35 - Bronze (15) Location: Barbarian village pub Popularity: Sometimes crowded Safe spot: YES Inventory suggestion: None Alternative targets: Thief - 16 - 17 - Bronze (7) Guard (Falador Wall, Guards with bow and arrows) - 22 - ? - ? Guard - 21 - 22 - Mith (1) / Steel (1,5) / Iron (1) / Bronze (1-2) Stage 2 (Range Level 57-66, Max Hit with Bronze/Iron 8-9, Average Hit 4) I could go straight to Moss Giant (Stage 3) since it is too crowded here at Hill Giants. However, I'd be frustrated if my range level was not high enough to dominate the multi-combat competition and get all the loots, probably took too long to take out a Moss and got my arrows stolen too. So, I decided to spend some time here. There's a major disadvantage here - Since it is not a multi-combat area, if you attempt to retrieve your arrows here, you'd probably only being able to handle 1 giant while others may quickly take all the nearby targets. Target ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Level ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ HP ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Droppable Arrow Hill Giant - 28 - 35 - Iron (3) / Steel (10) Location: Edgeville Dungeon Popularity: Over crowded Safe spot: YES Inventory suggestion: 4-6 food, hi-alch runes/fire staff Alternative targets: Zombie (Draynor Village Dungeon) - 13 - 23 - Iron (5,8) / Steel (5) Barbarians (Barbarian Village Pub) - see Stage 1 Stage 3 (Range Level 66+, Max Hit with Steel 10+, Average Hit 5+) Now here comes the last stage. As a strong archer with max hit over 10, standing at the super cool safe spot in the narrow corner of Varrock Sewers, and with the joyful multi-combat policy, I will get most of my fortune here with minimal (almost 0) food cost. I love those Moss Giants, as they are great steel arrow makers too! Arguably, you'd end up being the winner of this multi-combat competition (only high level warriors could take your kill away from you, but most of them are in Karamja killing Lessers. LOL) Target ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Level ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ HP ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Droppable Arrow Moss Giant - 42 - 60 - Iron (15) / Steel (30) Location: Varrock Sewers Popularity: Ignorable Safe Spot: YES Inventory suggestion: A Weapon for slashing (IMPORTANT), Varrock teleport runes, hi-alch runes / fire staff Alternative targets: Never mind, just switch worlds Finally, when you have certain amount of arrows that you want to get rid of, use it on Lesser Demon locked in the Wizard Tower. It is a multi-combat area that you should dominate when you have sufficient range level. Happy ranging! P.S. There's an ongoing discussion about where Level 80+ Rangers should train. Personally, I'd stick to Moss Giant instead of Lesser Demon. With the overwhelming advantage during multi-combat, I'd be happy to retrieve more arrows, getting more big bones, and totally without having any target stolen from me. Like I said above, if you have any arrow that you don't want to retrieve, just go to the Wizard Tower. =]
  6. Thanks for the warning. This is NOT ONLY scamming your RS account, but also your MSN / Hotmail account as well. Be advised: Do not input your password on any unofficial website and/or application. The "hotmail" website mentioned in the scam is NOT official at all!
  7. put my name on the support list. i couldn't agree more! bravo!
  8. With all due respect, ignorance was the only word I could think of. And I hope this pointless discussion will come to an end soon no matter what. My main is Combat Level 85, moderate skill profile. I have 3 other accounts (pures) too. I never trade anything among them. And I never use anything other than my hands / fingers / mouse & keyboard to play this game. Now, just 1 more thing I wanna say to you - more than that would be a waste of time: I'd love to training a Mining 85+ pure, with Combat Level 3. You know what that is? That's persistence and Wilderness survival strategy. If you feel unhappy, report and try to ban me as you wish, but what rule did I break - If I just mine rune ores and never trade to my other accounts? LOL
  9. 1. What made you remain f2p? 1) No convenient way to pay. 2) F2P is about the right size of world to fit my availability balance. Don't want to spend more time in exploring a bigger world and/or playing with tons of new factors. 2. Have you ever wanted to be member? No 3. Do you plan to be a member in the future? No
  10. I'd say Varrock. Both Varrock and Falador are big, comprehensive, prosperous towns. However, in the heart of Varrock there is a Palace; in the heart of Falador there is a Castle. Obviously, Varrock is the capital.
  11. Never mind. To me it is just a slight fever. I was a little bit in this Spade fever last night, but I got 2 spades in Draynor on a less crowded server. Sold 1 for 2k GP and dropped the other when I finished my Easter Event. Back to training again. LOL.
  12. Just a little bit off-topic, as JAGEX's interpretation of "Item Scamming", there is nothing you can do about this "Arrow Thief". To avoid confrontation, I normally do not train on strong targets that will take too long to kill and let others see my arrows on the floor. Fortunately, my Range is high enough that I could kill Moss Giants with steel arrows in pretty short time. There was a time when I started my Range at a low level, and I was dumping about 4K of Bronze Arrow at Hobgoblins, accross from the Cow Farm. I was not planning to retrieve my arrows anyway. Now, this pathetic noob (Level 7 maybe?) came up to me and beg for arrows (-_-) again and again. I said no, he ran accross the river and start "stealing" my arrows while dodging those hobgoblins - I couldn't care less. And then, he ran back to me and was like "Yay! I steal your arrows, lalala". I mean, WTF, I wish Hobgoblins are having AI like red spiders and speed like ice warriors, and wish him a good death amongst those Hobgoblins.
  13. it all depends. to offensive / annoying noobs, either report them, lure them to dangerous monsters, or just ignore them. to newbies, depends on how and what they ask. btw, i never give anything to beggars.
  14. 1. Bank Space 2. Rangers head gear (I'm happy with Maple Short and Green D.hide, but the Coif looks just cheap and boring.) 3. More colors available for Cape 4. Variety of boots 5. Able to enchant / wear ring
  15. rune scimmy and maple short, i lov'em both.
  16. I'm in. I was a Diablo player for years. After I had my ultimate goal achieve last Christmas, I found it kind of lack of incentive... I searched around for new, free, Online RPG games, that's why I'm here.
  17. I was training my range pure last night at Lumbridge Chicken Farm, at a noobish combat level. I think that my full-leather outfit shows that I am not a real newbie player, so here comes this guy (let me just refer his name as "S"): S: Range lvl? Me: 12 S: I'm 79! Me: Cool S: Do you have a better acc? Me: Hm? S: Is this your only acc? (I didn't reply, busy picking my bolts back) S: Yes or no? Me: Is that important? S: I can get you free membership. Meanwhile, another newbie killing chicken beside me (could be a real noob) got some interest in this and replied: "How?" S: gimme yourword (or "gimme yourpinword", I don't remember exactly what he typed.) I reported him for "Password Scamming" right away and said: Password scammer! (it came out to be "****** scammer!" RS censored the word "password") S: I can also trimm your armor! Me: Scam Reported S: What a noob! Me: [His Name] is a scammer, don't belive him. S: Noob! Noob! Danm noob! Me: No one can trim anything, trim is a treasure trail item. S: Danm noob! Then, this pathetic S ran into the farm house, near the cooking pot, and the repeating word "Danm" just pop out from the roof. Danm Danm Danm Danm ... I reported him the second time for "Offensive Language" and said: "offensive language reported" Meanwhile, I saw many people walking around and outside the farm, so I said "There's a scammer inside, be careful!" He ran out of farm, and that's thestory. LOL~
  18. LOL, that's perfectly fine. Pirates are good. But I prefer hobgoblins in general (training and looting), and ranging dark wizards for runes (man, they are awsome!) In the last few days with my main, I got my Range Level from 48 to 58, only with dark wizards. Those Nats, Laws, Cosmics, Chaos and Minds really made me happy (don't remember exactly how many cos I spend them for Magic XP whenver I got bored ranging. It really took time to spend them all!) LOL
  19. OMG! What are you doing? Don't you want to meet Leo and get full Zombie plus 2 Zombie Emotes? Or what? If yes, you are doing the wrong thing by keep dropping "the ugly armor"... This random event gives you those things in steady sequence, and you will only get the next reward when you have the previous ones (in inventory or bank): First Leo: Shirt and Boots Second Leo: Legs and Gloves Third Leo: Mask Forth Leo: Zombie Walk Emote Fifth Leo: Zombie Dance Emote Later Leo: GP You will never go further if you keep dropping them, you will always get the same "ugly armor"... :((
  20. This one is easy. Adjust your camera up so you can look down and see all 4 sticks. Pull the odd one. That's it.
  21. I think that is just coincidence. Level should not alter the odds of getting any random event. You are just a bit luckier lately. As a counterexample to yours, my baby pure with only 5 level fishing, met River Troll twice, Whirlpool 3 times. Lucky me!
  22. Nice topic! I have something to share: Good memories: - Reaching 60 Mining by powermining Iron from level 50. (Ouch! My wrist hurts -_-) - Offering to buy planks at 500 ea in order to finish the Dragon Slayer quest. A low-level friend whom I met for the first time taught me the "3-item only rule", took me into the Wilderness for planks. However, I got PKed on the way. When I logged back, he sent me a private message said: "I got planks for you". So warm. Finally, I paid him for those planks. - After long noobish trying from ropes, threads, and silk, finally understanding that to "string" an amulet, you need a ball of wool! - Getting my first set of full rune and 70K GP earned by Gold Mining in 1 day... Before that, I knew nothing about "selling things in bulk" and the "street price", and just wasted all my hardwork in the General Stores (Tears!). Good to learn! - Becoming the mine-lord whenever I want more iron, always 1 hit! This is really cool. - Becoming the nightmare and slaughterer of Dark Wizards when I train my Range. Those wizards at Varrock Circle killed me at least 3 times when I was in full iron, full steel... (I was so conceited and dedicated to challenge them again and again!) - Training Mage at Varrock Sewers, killing Zombies with Crumble Undead. Always saving those half-dying poor noobs chased by zombies, and seeing those yellow "Ty" flashing above their head. ^O^ - This is the most recent one. Although I threw away my first 4 zombie pieces in 1 day (I thought they wear ugly and useless), I finally got full zombie and both new emotes within the next 3 days! And now, I kept the mask, definitely the 2 emotes, but again, got rid of the 4 pieces. Bad memories: Not much... Just 3 occasions related to trading: - I fell into a "20K or 2K" scam. I was really careless. Good lesson with a cost of 18K, not too bad. Feel sorry for that cheap scammer though. - Without knowing anything about the Price Guide or the Street Price, I offered my price to buy full addy and power ammy. The price I offered was 150% or 200% higher than the average rate, I got tailed, and obviously some people was calling me a scammer! (Maybe they bought those stuff while I was offering to buy, just for selling it to me to make a profit... However, all I needed was 1 set!) - I was so desperate to buy a Rune Woodcutting Axe, I logged on World 1 after minutes of trying, offered 20K at the beginning, then 25K, then 30K... Still, nobody is sending a trade offer! I was so frustrated, and gave it a shot at 50K! After a couple of minutes, I realized that my Trade Button was on "Friends"! I switched back, and finally got my Rune Woodcutting Axe at 50K. (I was tired of switching out World 1, and I don't want to look capricious, so I just stick to 50K)
  23. Well, I'm despise myself so much for this... Since I was starting a new pure, I was killing chickens, gathering feathers, and maintaining my Mind Rune supply chain. However, I fell into a stupid "2000" - "20000" scam when I was selling feathers. Errrr~ The story was simple, I was selling feathers for 10k gp total, and this guy trade me, offered me 20k plus some cooked fish. He DIDN'T click Accept until I click first, then, I was SO DUMB that I didn't check the 2ND screen! - Boom! It finally turned out to be 2k gp and some cooked fish. Stupid me.
  24. if u want cash fast on ur new account go to the cows, collect cow hides and sell em 170 ea u get cash rather fast then i did that with my new accs i c. btw... i really missed a lot of newbie accessable money-making tips. thanks Eelspremiers for ur clarification too! :)
  25. Frankly speaking, I was quite self-isolated from the merchant world in RS. I was planning and enjoying my own mining-smithing-shopping-combat chain. I have a pretty average profile on everything, crafting, mining, fishing, cooking, etc. all 50+. Now, to speed up my combat training, and since I was still too low in smithing and crafting, I was eager to purchase adamant gears and power amu. from other players. Like I said, I didn't know the price guide, and was anxious to obtain those. So, I quickly went through the high alch. price and just multiplied it by 3 or 5. I offered: 10K for ada. kite; 10K for ada. legs; 20K for power amu. Of course, I got them pretty easily. But then, more people came to me with those stuff... I am just a user, not a merchant. So I said: "no thanks" and walked away. I got flamed and followed me, and heard them said: noob... scammer... Ehhhhh~ For the last 2 days, I read from anti-scam guide that there's a kind of co-op scamming, scammer 1# over-price something and at the same time, another co-scammer will offer it. Victims will think that they can make quick money and buy something over-priced that they don't need at all! I'm sorry... Am I being suspected as one of those? Or, I just simply made them feel annoyed that they didn't get a "good deal"? -_- No matter what it was, I enjoy my over-priced full ada., my over-priced power amu., and aboveall, the RS world!
