Personally I would look at purchasing a faster harddrive before getting two gigs of ram... If you get more ram then your computer will just bottleneck on the HDD or the CPU.. You won't even get any use out of the extra ram unless an application is specifically written to write directly to ram (the only products that do this are autodesk).

Do you have a router? If so, you're probably looking at your internal IP. Try a simple yet effective solution like http://www.whatismyip.com to check your external IP (the IP the internet at large can use). If you don't have one, or already knew what I was telling you and you /are/ talking about your external IP, then there's not much you can do. If whatever you need this IP address for also accepts hostnames, you could look into using http://www.dyndns.org to keep a hostname referring to your changing IP address. There is a lot that he can do... Dyndns is a good solution but it also means running yet another service on your computer so really it isn't the ideal solution... Personally, I'd ring up your isp and ask for a static ip, it will cost you a bit more (~ $10 / month) but there are many advantages to having one.

Hey Matt, Have you tried factory resetting the router? Is the router in a hot area and may be overheating? Is there a conenction lose on the router? Have you tried another cat5 cable to insure that that isn't the problem?

Try creating the folder post installation and see what happens.. Or maybe you tried installing this before and the installer failed part way through (so the folder already exists and you need to remove it?)?

IF this virus has not yet been added to these programs it may or may not be picked up however. Virus scanners look for common pieces of code used by viruses, each binary is analysed to see if it contains snippets of code (that is why you are asked whether or not you beleive something is a virus as some pieces of code may look syspicious but really arn't).

Hey mate, Can you go to the Windows Event viewer for me and see if there are any errors coming up around the time that the computer is crashing? To do this go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> System (on the left). Copy and paste any errors that you are getting into here, or better yet post a screenshot. I keep hearing all this talk about "For your own safety"... A group of Administrators who from what I've seen have a very limited knowledge of internet security consider a photo of a bedroom to be something jeopardising someones safety? Sunli also implied that tipit could be legally implicated if someone was to get hurt, this quite obviously isn't the case. People submit content of their own free will and the site administrators would in no way be held responsable (If you still for some reason think tip.it may be responsable then may I refer to the guy getting killed who was posting on somethingawful.com). I really don't think anyone here would have posted any pictures without first looking at them to make sure there was something there that would embarress them... And if they had seen anything with personal details they felt were vital then I'm sure they would have removed them and taken another photo... You guys have threads on here with pictures of cars showing the number plates and the name on an envelope or some small details poses a risk?

Hate it all you like. Go start your own forum if it bothers you that much. What do you think we have done with DarkWebz? A lot of the darkwebbers come here to talk to old mates and keep in touch with what is going on....

I know this is a problem, but i ment purly on maturity and trust. Like the admins could judge us. from who they see fit to join. About it being invite only, and people feeling left out, wasnt DW originaly invite only or something? And also thats what PM's are for :wink: DarkWebz is still invite only to a degree... New members are the only ones who don't have ops, annoy someone and chances are you will get banned pretty much straight away. DarkWebz may not be invite only but when you first sign up there you can only see a snippet of the actual forum, after you have posted for a while and if you haven't irked the community then you will be added to the darkwebz group which lets you see everything except for the admin only sections of the site.

DarkWebz is a completely differant community in itself, making a community invite only also brings makes other users felt left out and destroys the feeling of a community in large part. That being said darkwebz operates without any real dramas..

I do understand your point - but still we cant take those chanses. Another aspect we have to consider is the possible lawsuits we could get amongts us if the worst case scenario should happen. If you're scared of that then I really don't think you understand the law. Take SomethingAwful for example, a member there got told where to buy his ammunition and then shot his girlfriend and himself, The SA goons arn't responsable as the webmaster isn't responsable for dynamic content (such as forums) created by the members (unless of course he is encouraging kiddy porn or making a website themed around something that is deemed to be illegal).. I know most of your members are kids but do you really think you need to hold their hands this much?
