  1. I achieved all my 99s on my way to 99 slayer. They just came naturally to me and since I'm not a big 99 party guy, I kinda got them without a bang. Just like when I got 99 ranged at daganoths with my cannon, the discussion looked like this :

someplayer : OMG another cannon noob!

Me: At least my task is gonna be pretty fast and it gets me ranged xp.

someplayer: I prefer to slay the proper way.

ME : suit yourself... BTW just got 99 ranged during this conversation...

someplayer: ... Grats I guess... cannon noob!

Me: Lol ty, task over... have fun!

  2. hey just a thought here.

What are the xp and gp rates of slayer with casual slaying (super set, no piety and no cannon). Just for the sake of comparison.

I believe the experience rates he uses are with super sets and 10% strength only.

EDIT: Do not take my word for it.

Yeah, but I've seen mentionned a couple times during this whole debate that the profit gained through slayer points (magic dart runes) is off-balanced with the cost of prayer potions and cannon balls. I'm more the casual slayer type (super sets, bunyip and piety as long as I have prayer points) and I get way more than 90k gp per hour. My xp rates are around 55-60k per hour, so I'm not debating that.

  3. I would love to know how people get 38k plus as quoted from time to time at Monks, I am 99 Fishing with nearly 24Mil XP and average 32k an hour at monks.

Also trout and salmon at river West of the Fishing Guild using Rasolo the trader to sell the fish to is faster than Shilo.

I only do monks if I want cash, XP to slow.......

Like you said later on, it must be because you don't keep 100% screen attention. I tested at 90 fish and got 32k xp per hour with fish potion, but without a familiar to boost it up. I expect getting around 35-36k per hour with granite lobster at my current lvl.

  5. Slayer [bleep] up lately in runescape if you didnt notice langer, people get stuck in loops :P

Not really contradicting myself, i am saying there is an average, but not a good one. There is officially no denying that an average can, and probably will be very far off from the max and/or minimums, so why do people give averages?

There's always been what you call a loop... Except before smoking kills you could not get the same task twice in a row.

People give average to make comparison between training combat trhough slayer or through monsters outside slayer, in the long run...

the average is only accurate on the long run.

  6. But why create a buzz around "Mechscape" to throw it out the window weeks prior to release day?

They did say March at one point, but their latest statement was "Spring 2009" so there is no guarantee that MechScape will be released in March. Similarly, instead of MechScape it could be related to ThirdScape although that'd mean Jagex would have two space games (I assume one for the older demographic and one for the younger demographic).

Yeah I read most reports you make as I find it pretty interesting. As for the word "weeks", I nearly typed "months", let's assume I was refering to that spring release date. I can easily imagine a futuristic world with lots of civilised planets for a game while the other puts the characters in a kind of space exploration adventure more like modern day space exploration.

  7. you could also bring a void spinner , it is pretty expensive but it will be compensated by the drops. Another option is to bring lots of food (pizzas or strawberrie baskets) and bank form time to time.

  8. Well, thats kinda yes and no. In the long run, in technicality you'd expect it to have a rough average of it, but then you know for a fact it wont 100% be that number or anything close to it.

What's a task given by chaeldar a bit?

I havent had anything other than turoths, fire giants, or blue dragons, other than 2 zygomites and 2 basilisks, for probably 20~ tasks. And it isnt a loop

Yes it won't be 100% accurate, that is why we use averages. You kinda contradict yourself there by saying you get a rough average and then saying it won't be close to it. Advanced maths (or simple mathematics for the college graduates on these boards) shows us that taking a large sample from a given population will give us a pretty accurate average of what happens truly.

Whenever you use a small sample, the rates and average you will get will have a good chance of deviating a lot form the accurate average. A loop is just a way for a player to convince himself that the system's randomness is broken. There's no such thing as a pre-programmed loop.

  9. That formula is all speculation. There are many variables that could effect a hit, and guessing wich ones do what doesn't prove anything. Bandos doesn't effect accuracy, so using it instead of Torag's is a massive bias. Dragon gauntlets have better melee defence than barrow gloves. You also might want to add you're not counting pvp armour, or weapons that provide defence.

I think he just compared set-ups that are mostly used in PVP.

The assumption is wether a hit will occur or not. Str bonus is not counted in that calculation as if doesn't affect if you hit or not.

  10. Wow, didn't my theory would be put to the test that soon!

Just a side note because you will get a lot of PVP'er saying that high hits are better for the K.O. effect justifying their set-up. They may be right, but what stats can't show us is the effect of weapon speed and the ability to heal.

Edit : oops read too fast and just noticed you already dismissed that.

One point though is that you substract from the opponent's total defence your total attack bonus. What you should do is divide your total attack bonus by your opponent's total defence bonus. Giving you a % or accuracy. Meaning you will hit X% of the time against an opponent.

  11. not only is this fine maths, it's also an insight as to how hits and damage are calculated.

It also confirms what I've been thinking for some time. Every time you hit a monster, your attack level (plus prayer boost and slayer helmet effect or salve ammy) added to your gear attack bonus (slash, stab or crush) gives a number (let's say 250 maxed out with godsword). From this number, a random number is rolled. Let's say you rolled 185. On that hit, your enemy will roll a random number from 0 to ... whatever his max bonus is. If your enemy rolls 185 and higher, you splash a 0. If it rolls under 185, you will get a hit. The hit is determine by the str bonus and another random number is rolled translating to damage. Note that you could succeed with your attack roll and hit a 0 with your str roll. That's still hypothetical, but I'm pretty sure that's the most accurate explanation.

Is this actually correct? Seems to me like it is. :o

That's what I assume... I don't know the actual mechanic, but this is a pretty good assumption. We can assume that when they say that the chicken has a 50% chance to do 1 damage when it hits with its attack, it means its str lvl is 1 (randoming 0 results in 0 damage and randoming 1 results in 1 damage). This can be tested in duel arena with 2 players. Find 2 players (one with 10 attack, the other with 50 def) the one with 10 attack will attack (with fists) and the other will only eat and not fight back. If we can test this for a 1000 tries and the 10 attack player hits 200 times, then that theory will be "assumed proven". The thing is.. the 10 attack player must not lvl attack during the test, def doesn't matter and str has no bearing on accuracy.

  12. magics and yews at 94 WC will give you around 115-125k per hour depending on the daily prices of each.

Green dragon killing is easily better money even with risk of revenants and crowds. There are so many spawns that crowds should not be a concern.

  13. Not to sound like the devil's advocate, but I type a lot on french keyboards and I sometimes have a hard time configurating the keyboard properly. For example, my "it's" will sometimes end up like that "it>s". This can be really frustrating at times.
