  1. not only is this fine maths, it's also an insight as to how hits and damage are calculated.

It also confirms what I've been thinking for some time. Every time you hit a monster, your attack level (plus prayer boost and slayer helmet effect or salve ammy) added to your gear attack bonus (slash, stab or crush) gives a number (let's say 250 maxed out with godsword). From this number, a random number is rolled. Let's say you rolled 185. On that hit, your enemy will roll a random number from 0 to ... whatever his max bonus is. If your enemy rolls 185 and higher, you splash a 0. If it rolls under 185, you will get a hit. The hit is determine by the str bonus and another random number is rolled translating to damage. Note that you could succeed with your attack roll and hit a 0 with your str roll. That's still hypothetical, but I'm pretty sure that's the most accurate explanation.

  2. Slayer isnt really good at all, people only tell you to level it because:

    1. They're probably slayer geeks

or 2. They actually think in your runescape future it will come in handy, which it will. Especially 73+ (?)

So only do it if you care about then, it is another skill and it isnt mandatory, but if you enjoy it sure.

Painfully true. If you want fast str xp, don't slay. Go for Armored zombies or rock crabs or even experiments. If you believe you'll want high slayer one day, then might as well train combat through slayer, but your goal of 90 str will be reached a bit later.

  3. you can also expect to get hit a lot with 66 magic and 79 def. I'm at 99 def and 95 magic and they give me a hard time. Usually do them in 2 trips and it used to be 3 trips before I got 68 summoning for bunyip. They are a pain for sure, but their drops and charms compensate.

    have fun slaying

  4. 50% + 1 share gives you automatic control of the company but it can be assumed that you have control of a company with less than 50% also. This is a grey zone though. Let's say you have 40% of all shares and your wife has 11%. It can be assumed that you indeed have control in the decision making process of the strategic aspect of the company.

  5. Just because something is say, 10% chance doesnt mean you will get it 10 times in 100 times Nic, :|

That's true, but in the long run, it will average around 10% given a greater sample.

There's a chance that I will not hit at all on a fire giants for 10 straight attempts, after sampling these 10 misses, would it be wise for me to say that training at fire giants gives 0 xp per hour? Probably not. When determining the average rates for slayer, you need a big sample and usually stable combat stats (meaning you don't gain any combat levels in that time frame). After around let's say 50 tasks you should have a pretty accurate average that translate to your combat level. You can expect then to reach that average over a couple tasks but you can't expect to get it every task (daganoths and steel dragons gives way different rates).

  6. before you rush out and make 100k arrowheads, make 100 put in ge and see if they sell, since iron arrows are somewhat junk if you don't train ranged with them people often don't make iron arrows as they can't resell iron arrows and the exp for them isn't that great when fletching

I have no idea who buys them, but I made over 10k worth of iron bars into arrowheads and they all sold over time. I just did 200 bars during dinner and I expect them to be sold by the time I log in around supper.

  7. Minigames are just a very poorly designed way to cover the mistake of skillcapes.

What? In what universe does this statement even remotely make sense?

They provide a method of raising exp at a decent rate without the large costs that skillcapes have created in many skills.

What do you mean by large cost? Before skillcapes, getting a 99 would include a cost, please point out what's changed. Minigames are an alternative to normal training. Some minigames provide better rates, some others just rewards.

  8. Possibly the best BTS I've seen in my life... \' =D> \' =D> \' =D>

I'm guessing you were literally born yesterday then?

I'm also thinking this is a great BTS, but unfortunately I haven't been dumped lately so I'm not depressed and I don't feel like crapping on the whole world. Sorry if I can't see the world through your brown glasses.

  9. Yeah those are very valid points. I'm not saying kalphites are amongst the best monsters assigned, just pointing they are not that bad. I don't block them because I don't mind wasting a couples K's for a quick task. I currently have blocked steel dragons (not enough spawns), hellhounds (too much competition and GWD ones don'T drop charms), Suqah (personnal taste, I can't stand those) and Wyverns (these take way too much time either meeleing or ranging IMO).

Don't get me wrong, they are not my favorite task especially since Smoking Kills got lots of players on Slayer again, meaning lots of players slaying kalphites... leading to the "near-necessity" of carrying a cannon to ensure steady xp. We really need another place to kill kalphites or even another kalphites monster with 100-120 cb with better drops that the soldiers. Even a room with 3 lvls 180-something would be great. 2 only makes you wait for spawn.

  10. 1) Very boring (true but a matter of opinion, so not debate worthy)

    2) Rubbish drops. (true but kalphites are among the best blue charms dropper along with aberrant specters, but they drop less than dark beasts and gargoyles)

    3) You make loss all way round. (only if you cannon them... which you should considering someone else will probably gonna steal your spot with a cannon)

    4) They take time. (they are pretty fast slayer xp with a cannon and most slayer task will take time except daganoths with a cannon aslo)

  11. So? More and more people get 85 slayer on an hourly basis...1 more person getting it would not change anything.

With this frame of mind, if everybody but had abused this feature and gotten all 99s (speaking hypothetically). Would you mind seeing tons of newbies getting ahead of yourself (mining faster, getting more kills per hour slaying, doing double nats, well everything faster including owning you in PVP...). There are rules and those rules apply to everyone. Break them and suffer the consequences or play by the rules and keep this game balanced.

There are players getting 85 slayers, 91 rc and 85 mining every day, that's true. But they deserved it (those that don't macro or share accounts) , they didn't cheat their way to better money making methods.

  12. I agree that being over-zealous concerning grammar can sometimes make us lose focus on the main topic of discussion, but this topic is about "shocking awful grammar". We're not talking about minimal typos and bad punctuation, but about deliberately poor text, "kid-l33t-speak" or asylum grade grammar. I may not agree with your point of view "THEDAY..." (on trade restriction and removal of the old wildy) but having someone with counter arguments keeps arguying a challenge and a personnal enjoyment.

Having someone arguying against you with proper writing techniques (which is almost anyone who graduated from high school) is less painful than having 15-18 years old writing like they got too much water in their skull.

  13. In other words, Polnar, check your spelling, otherwise people like this guy will moan non-stop about it. You might try to resist at first, but eventually they will throw so many pathetic fits that you will be faced with the option of shooting yourself, or checking your spelling and grammar.

Or don't check your spelling and look like either an idiot or an 8 years-old, your choice.

  14. I'm gonna give you an IRL advice. If you ever plan to travel by plane, don't ever say you have a bomb as a joke. When you know the rules and you break them "as a joke", you either are stupid or... wait there's no question about that, you are stupid. Use quickchat, wait it out they sometimes revert those "perms" or start over...

  15. They used to gave better rewards and from a simply money point of view, they are not worth doing anymore as you can find more methods of making more money per hour that are consistent. If you like the break it gives you, clues can be fun, especially of you have every emote items, quests unlocked and lots of teleporting means.

  16. Well fun is a variable only you can judge. So only you can measure how it weights (for you) when comparing xp rates. When giving advice, you can't really factor fun for another player, so you stick with stats and advise the most efficient way to train. At this point, the players will have to factor in fun and efficiency to decide how they will train. Efficient and fun are not always compatible. As an example, I train hunter via tears and impling catching (in the world, not puro-puro)... now that's un-efficient, but it's the only way I enjoy the skill.
