  1. I completely disagree with the above poster about combat clans, but I guess that's just my opinion. If you like pvp combat that much, go ahead and do that, otherwise, I would say skilling is a much better way to spend your time.

Quests are always a good option, and you could keep your herbs planted while you do them. Just pull up a timer in another tab so you know when they're done, and make your farming run as soon as you get the chance.

If that still bores you, set yourself a goal in every skill. Make them not too hard, but not too easy either so you don't feel overwhelmed, and just do whatever you feel like doing every day.

Another thing you could do is set a non-skill related goal. Maybe you could spend a week trying out every single minigame. Or do as much of the achievment diaries as you can. You could even make a goal to do 50 different clue scrolls, or explore all the places in runescape you've never been before.

Just don't forget to do your farming runs along the way ;]

  2. Could just use blessed spirit shield.

Yeah, I'd really like to get one, but summer's end is just such a pain in the [wagon]. I've died doing it several times already, it's really frustrating.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. I think I'll probably end up attempting to get the spirit shield *again*. And aviansies for range sounds like fun, but I'll have to try it out before I decide for sure. Thanks again.

  3. Do something fun with your money. Maybe spend some time getting your construction up and redesign your whole house, or buy some random clothes or gear that you like.

Otherwise your best choice is to invest some of it into skills and save the rest.

Put some in MTK if you haven't already, then maybe buy a big pile of herb seeds and make a good profit.

Also, you could use it to buy yourself an easy second 99, like cooking.

Trimmed skillcapes are way hawter :twss:

  4. 1. I've been wanting to buy a DFS for a while, and just when I got enough spare cash to buy one, the price shot up. So, I've been wondering- is it even worth it? I'm doing slayer right now so I'm wondering which tasks I would use it on, if any.

    2. I really need to train my range up (It's at a very sad low level of 76..) and I'm wondering what the best method is. I haven't really trained it in 3 or 4 years atleast. Last time I worked on range, iron arrows at ogres was the best way to do it. XD I'm sure there are much, much better ways to train now. I can't afford chins, and I've never done aviansies before. Do I have a high enough level for aviansies? Or is there another way that would be good for me to use instead?

    Thanks in advance everyone :]

  5. Here's the barrows setup I use:

    [hide]barrows.png?t=1258064682

The veracs is good for the prayer bonus, but can be replaced by any high defence armor.

Ahrim's hood is to add a little bit of magic bonus, can be replaced by mystic hat, farseer helm, or anything like that.

The karil's bow can be swapped for a rune cbow if you want.

Skillcape, fury, and barrows gloves can all be switched out too if you need to.

With this setup, here's my method:

    1. Start at dharok's tunnel. Pray melee and use slayer dart.

    2. Go to karil next. Use the rest of your prayer here, and mage him.

    3. The next four can be done in any order. You don't need to pray on any of them. If you get hurt just eat. I usually only need 2 or 3 monks. For ahrim, switch to your range gear.

    4. Tunnel time! If your tunnel was ahrim, torag, verac, or guthan, just equip your staff (or for ahrim, your bow) and take them down when you run into them. If you got a karil or dharok tunnel you can do the same, except you'll want to take a couple doses of the ppot and pray against them.

This has been a really good method for me. I always profit, since I hardly ever need to use a pray pot, and the chest reimburses the runes that I use.

A lot of methods use several ppots to kill the brothers, but it's really not necessary.[/hide]

Oh, and guthans is still good. Summoning has become the new best thing for slayer assignments though.

    Bunyip = <3333

I've got a bunyip now, and I absolutely love it. On about half of my slayer tasks, I don't need to bring food and I don't have to bother with the hassle of changing armor and hoping that I get a good special hit with guthans. I still have guth though, and on certain tasks it's still useful, but if you have the resources to get 68 summoning, it's worth it.

  6. Some of the best ways to make money without putting in a lot of effort:

    1. Farming.

You can (and should) keep herbs planted all the time. What I usually do is run around to my herb patches when I first log in every day, and then whenever I need a quick break from whatever skill I'm training, I run around and do it again. It's not necessary to be there exactly when your herbs are full grown, or keep timers, or any of that stuff. You can if you want to maximize profits, but the lazy way can still make you a couple hundred thousand gold a day or more, and you've really only put about a half hour of actual effort into it.

    2. Buying from shops/Collecting daily items and then selling on the GE.

This includes (but is not limited to):

    -Daily free sand from Bert

-Daily free flax from doing the seer's diary

-Buying out the stock of certain items in various shops, such as the Culinaromancer's chest in lumby.

-Buying seaweed and pineapples for 2gp each from Arhein (he's the general store owner in Catherby)

-Buying battlestaves from Zaff and Baba Yaga

-And more... there's a list of these somewhere

    3. Manage Thy Kingdom.

There are several guides on this as well, so I'm not going to go into huge detail here, but this is an excellent way to make money without doing anything at all. Currently, I make about 1.5m or more every week just by spending about 10 minutes one day a week getting my approval rating up. I like to keep 10 workers on fish, and 5 on coal. Fish is the best option, so you definitely want to put 10 there. Coal and maple logs are a close fight for second best, so it all comes down to personal preference. Coal will give you steadier money, maples are more of a gamble because of the bird's nests. You could make a lot more than coal, or a lot less, so it's really up to you which one you want to go with.

I use all of these methods to get money every day, and it really does add up.

As far as steady non-combat methods for making money, your best bet is probably just to train your skills. Pick a skill you like, train it, get money. It's pretty easy.

  7. Definitely get rid of all the quest items. The great thing about quest stuff is that if you need it again later, there's always a way to get it back.

If you spend a little time doing the quest "One Small Favour", you can put all of those keys on on a key ring, which would eliminate the need for that whole bank tab.

Additionally, if you build a costume room in your house, you can store all of that random event clothing and all the holiday items, too.

  8. 1- Hunter

    2- Cooking

--[i already did these two, hunter because I really enjoyed it, and cooking after that because I needed a nice AFK skill to take a break from the focus of hunter.]

    3- Magic

    4- Agility

--[These are both very useful skills that would be helpful later for getting the rest of the 99s]

    5- Attack

    6- Defence

    7- Strength

    8- Hitpoints

    9- Slayer

    10- Summoning

--[These all go together, and having a higher combat level would be nice.]

    11- Woodcutting

    12- Firemaking

    13- Fletching

--[i'd get 92 firemaking first for the adze, then use it to get 99 woodcutting and get fm exp along the way. Then I'd finish off firemaking, and get fletching too since it's an easy skill.]

    14- Farming

    15- Herblore

--[using all the seeds I'd get from slayer, I'd keep planting them all while getting the last set of 99s, and then use the herbs to get 99 there, too. I'd probably still have to buy a lot of tree seeds and herbs & second though.]

    16- Fishing

    17- Thieving

--[i'd pair up an AFK'able skill with one that you can't AFK and switch back and forth between the two until they're both 99 so I wouldn't get sick of them.]

    18- Crafting

    19- Smithing

    20- Construction

--[Crafting just seems like a decent skill to get at this point, and then I'd play a huge amount of stealing creation to get the hammers for both 99 smith and construction]

    21- Runecrafting

--[After spending all that money on craft, smith, and con, I'd need to do a good moneymaking skill.]

    22- Prayer

    23- Range

--[Dragon bones and red chins would be a good way to waste away my hard-earned runecrafting cash.]

    24- Mining

--[i hate this skill the most, so I'd do it last.]

  9. Untrimmed capes suck anyway :anxious:

    This

I don't think any untrimmed skill capes are impressive compared to their trimmed counterparts.

Not only do trimmed capes look better and have better stats, but it seems ridiculous to me to go out of your way not to level up your skills.

To each his own I guess, but I'm pretty sure most people aim to get their skills up as high as they can.. So why try so hard to not get a 99 skill just so you can have a less impressive cape?

Haha. Maybe I'm just weird like that. XD

  10. Who really cares about the hours. You have plenty more hours you will play. If you feel like it; then get it! Runescape is a game not a business :P

In my eyes Barbarian Assault is a pretty damn fun Mini-Game and i got my Torso in 5-7 hours with my cousin and some good mates. Honestly, once you start and enjoy yourself, it gets fun and it is a nice reward on the side.

    I fully agree with this.

Torso might not be the most efficient way to spend your time, but I would definitely have a lot more fun playing a cool minigame, talking to people, and enjoying myself than grinding away killing green dragons for hours to afford a bandos chestplate.

Of course, if efficiency is your thing, then just don't bother with torso. Otherwise, just play a little bit of barb assault, and if you like the game, just go for it.

Regardless of the above, though, to answer your original question, it's probably a little faster to get the void range than the torso.

  11. I've started playing a little bit again after a short break.

I managed to get to 88 attack yesterday, and I caught up on my tears of guthix & penguin hunting today so I got to 68 runecrafting.

Rc is still my lowest skill though, just under summoning by about 40k exp.

I figure if I keep up with the penguins every week I should level it up again in about 3-4 weeks. But I probably won't. ;P

I think after I get done with 99 attack and everything I'll do WGS, and use the whole 400k exp on runecraft. That way I won't have to actually work on it at all to get to my goal level.

Anyways, I'm currently slaying elves at lletya, and I only need to do 3 more tasks after this to get my 50-task point bonus. I think with the bonus I'll have enough points to finally make slayer rings, which will help a lot.

I've also been farming in between tasks, so I'm getting a little exp for that too. I ought to start planting trees too, but I probably won't since that costs quite a bit of money, and I'm lazy. For now I'm just going to stick with herbs, since by the time I get to 85 slayer I'll probably have gotten enough herb seeds to finish both my farming and herblore goals.

I've got enough herbs banked right now to get to 69, but I'm going to wait to do anything with them until I have enough to get to 70.

I'm starting to think about what I'd like to do after I finish this goal.

I'll have finished attack, defence, strength, hitpoints and slayer. Which will leave me with 11 more skills goals left to get- Range, Summoning, Fishing, Woodcutting, Fletching, Firemaking, Runecrafting, Farming, Herblore, Agility, and Theiving.

    So, let's see..

    Farming:

During my current goal, I'll be getting tons of herb seeds, which I've been planting along the way. If I finish this goal and I still haven't gotten enough farm exp, I'll buy tree seeds and plant them for the remainder.

    Herblore/Summoning:

After doing slayer and farming, I'll have more than enough charms to meet my summoning goal, and I might have enough herbs too. If I don't have enough herbs to meet my goal, I'll just buy them to get the rest of the exp.

    Runecrafting:

Next, I'll finally get around to completing While Guthix Sleeps, which will give me four 100k exp lamps to use on whatever skill I want. I'll put all of these into runecrafting and get to my goal level.

    Firemaking:

Even though my goal firemaking level is only 80, and I desperately hate this skill, I'm going to get it up to 92 for the inferno adze. I'll use the best logs I can afford, probably yews.

    Woodcutting:

After getting my inferno adze, I'll be going for 99 woodcutting on yews. I know this is a very slow method and will probably take a long time, but the logs that I get should be enough to reimburse me for what I'll have spent on 92 fm. Also, I'll be getting pretty decent fm exp with the adze.

    Fletching:

With the yew logs that I get from woodcutting, I'll make about 13k strung yew longs and sell them. Then I'll sell the remaining yew logs for a profit.

    Agility:

This one will be easy. After I get to my runecrafting goal, I'll start using my penguin points on agility. If I still haven't gotten to my goal level by this point, I'll finish it off at ape atoll.

    Fishing/Theiving:

I'm going to train these two at the same time. I'll be alternating between fishing monks at the piscatories and playing pyramid plunder. I'll get a couple theif levels, then a couple fishing levels, and repeat until I've reached my goal in both skills.

    Range:

Even though this isn't my lowest skill, it's probably my most shameful one for my level. I never really cared to train range. I probably won't be able to afford to use chins, so I'll look into training methods for this when the time comes.

Alright, well, that was a really long post.

Sorry. I just get so bored when I'm training slayer XD

Since I started typing this, I finished a few tasks. Killing trolls right now, only 1 more task after this until slayer rings!

I'm also getting pretty close to both a hitpoints level and a slayer level. 38k til 89 hits, and 22k til 76 slayer.

Hopefully I'll get both of those levels today, but maybe not.

  12. Guthans > sara sword > dharoks.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find dharoks to be useful at all. It's the only barrows set I don't own.

    My recommendation:

Get torags if you don't have it already, then get guthans, and spend the rest on summoning. Bunyip is one of the BEST investments you'll make for slayer .

  13. Trading is now "balanced" meaning that you can't trade something for more than +/- 5k (or more, depending on your quest points) of the current market price. There's also a new center for trading called the grand exchange, which basically lets you put items up for sale and the game does the selling for you. It's a bit confusing at first so I recommend looking over the knowledge base articles here and here. Anyways, because of the trade balancing, real world trading has been seriously hindered, meaning that you hardly see bots in the game anymore.

You can mage the dragons, but with the improvement of crossbows, it's a lot more cost effective to range them instead. Once you become a member again, get some black dragonhide, a rune crossbow, antidragon shield, and a stack of broad bolts and you should be just fine. I also recommend doing the "Animal Magnetism" quest to get yourself an Ava's Accumulator, which will pick up your arrows/bolts for you when you range.

For money making, you can make fast cash slaying green dragons and selling the hides & bones (I've never done it, but the profit is 500k+ an hour from what I've heard), or stick with doing any of the gathering/resource skills - woodcutting, fishing, mining, and hunter. Hunter is new for you, but you start making big money around level 63-70 by catching red chinchimpas, or at 83 by catching dragon implings. You also have a good farming level, so continue to do herb runs on the side while you're training your other skills and you should start making money again in no time.

I do recommend that you become a member right away, since it's a lot harder to make money in f2p.

    Good luck ;D

  14. I haven't trained fletch in atleast a year or two, so it's possible that there's some new method of fletching for cash...

However, from what I remember, fletch is only really profitable if you gather all the materials yourself, although you'd actually make more money if you just sold the raw materials instead of fletching it into something.

If you're looking for a moneymaking skill, sorry but fletching isn't it. Try a gathering skill instead, like wc, fish, or hunt.
