  1. My favorite "fun" way to train mage is by killing steel/iron dragons. It costs a bit of money, but in my opinion it's the least boring way to do it.

I personally can't stand any of the stand-in-one-place-clicking-repeatedly type methods, like alching or superheating, so if you're like me then combat spells are the way to go.

Like the poster above me said, sacred clay hats help cut the cost down a lot.

  2. Well, it's been a while since I've been on here.

Mostly because I renewed my warcraft subscription for 2 months.

So, until march I'll be back and forth between the two games but hopefully I'll still be able to get a little more progress done on my goals here.

Right now I'm back into slaying, after a quick break catching up on all the things I've missed (and a couple rounds of pwning in c-wars ;P)

  3. I always recommend training combat with slayer, since it's kind of a waste of exp if you don't.

However, if you don't want to do that, you could try shadow warriors in legends guild basement. I trained my skills to 70 there a few years ago. I'm not sure if they're still one of the best training methods at those levels, but they're still going to be pretty decent.

  4. I've found that most people that use cannons prefer to stay with duradel/lapalok, and those who don't prefer to switch to kuradal.

The addition of daggs onto kuradal's task list might change that, but the fact is that lapalok is going to give you more cannonable tasks, while kuradal will give you more convenient tasks due to the new dungeon.

Personally, I don't use a cannon, and I much prefer to use kuradal. I think the task list is a hundred times better (although I'm very annoyed that daggs were added again..).

  5. I wouldn't sell the Fury, your going to sell it now and have some cash. But when you go to buy it again your going to have to pay a lot more because of the recent update, so you essentially payed a bunch of extra money just to get some other item.

Agreed. It's probably not a good idea to buy or sell a fury for atleast a couple of weeks, until the hype dies down a little bit.

Lol, its up to you if you will sell the fury or not. Personally I just buy and sell equipment as needed, without worrying about prices. Sure, you will lose some money, but unless you are dealing with 20m+ items, you should be fine. Just my opinion though.

In this case, the fury is almost guaranteed to jump up to a much higher price, most likely atleast a few million gp more. To someone like the OP who can't yet afford a whip, a couple mil is going to make a big difference.

  7. If you don't want to pick up herbs, you can easily do the task in one go with enough prayer pots. I wouldn't recommend it, since you can make upwards of 500k on a task like that, but if you just want to do it as fast as possible, it's an option.

If you do pick them up though, you'll probably be able to do about 50-60 per trip, or around 80 or more with a war tort.

Well I cant use a tort, but I can use a t bird. So with initiate I could make my money back from herb drops?

Oh, definitely. On my last spectre task of 233, I made just under 900k. You'll make your money back and more :]

  9. There are two basic methods I'd suggest for your current level:

    1. You'll need 44 runecrafting to start making nature runes. If you do a quick mini-quest for the mage of zamorak (see tip.it's guide here), you'll be able to use the abyss. This is a good way to train until you have 57 summoning for the graahk method.

    2. Fire runes are still pretty good for your level. All you'll need is a lot of dueling rings. Teleport to al kharid, run just north to the fire altar, then use the dueling ring again to go to castle wars and bank.

  10. A lot of them are either under the impression that an extra +2 strength is better than the great attack bonuses of the defender, or they just think it looks cool.

That's the only reason I can think of >.<

The DFS gives a +7 strength.

Yes.. and the defender gives +5. Thus, a +2 difference between them.

  11. Well, I've been doing great with the new slayer master so far, having a great time.

I'm incredibly pissed off today though, since jagex just added dagganoths back onto Kuradal's task list, which is one of my least favorite tasks.

I was very happy when she didn't assign them, so now I'll have to put up with their [cabbage]ty drops and constantly crowded locations AGAIN. Ugh.

[bleep]ing hate daggs. I'd block them if I had any empty spots.

  12. 4. With the new RC update with a chance of double runes, would I make more money making law runes or nature runes?

I'd definitely go for nature runes. When I was going 69 to 70 rc, I was getting about 40% double natures. At your level it'll be a bit less, but I'd guess you'll probably get atleast 20-25% doubles. If you get your summoning to 57 for spirit graahks, you can craft them much faster than abyss too.

  13. Right now, I think the best you can do is just gather up some oak planks and make whatever you can. You'll have to keep running back and forth to the bank, which is kind of annoying, so bring your best beast of burden to hold extra planks.

At 33, the real exp starts to come in by making oak larders. Stand in your kitchen, make one, destroy it, and repeat. It takes 8 planks and gives 480 xp. Bring a stack of noted planks and some cash, and hire the best butler you can (which will be the cook, then you can upgrade to the butler at 40 or demon butler at 50). Your butler can run to the bank for you and unnote planks, meaning you no longer have to make all those trips to the bank and back. The first few butlers are very slow, but as you upgrade they get faster and can carry more items for you. Every so often they ask for you to pay them, so make sure you've got a stack of money with you. You can hire one by going to a house right north of the marketplace in ardy.

As you level up and its starts to get more expensive, you might want to consider going to stealing creation and getting hammers for double exp.

  14. I'm really embarrased to admit that this happened to me once. >.<

I believe it was on a day I was at home sick with the swine flu.

It scared the hell out of me though, I though I was being hacked, or perhaps jagex had banned me or something. Haha.

  15. Slayer is killer money right now.

With the recent prayer and herblore updates, the prices on herbs, some seeds, and higher level bones have gone way up.

I've been casually slaying for the last couple months, and my cash has gone from about 18m to 45m, and that's not counting all the random things I've bought. I'd say I've probably made atleast 35m, and I haven't even really been focusing on it. I just get on a couple days a week.

Kingdom management, as previously suggested is also a great idea. Today I checked my kingdom (which is set on 10 herbs, 5 maples) and turned 400k into 1.7m. That's more than quadrupling my money. It's a good deal ;]

Another good thing to do periodically is herb farming. Toadflax are a great low-risk moneymaker. Just stop by your patches every hour or two when you get the chance and watch your money pile up.

  16. 1. In the dwarven mines under fally. The easiest way to get there is to go down the ladder by the houses on ice mountain (I use a combat bracelet to tele to monastery to get there quickly). As soon as you get down the ladder, there will be a crevice along the western wall, there's a rope there that you can climb down. This takes you to the living rock caverns, where these guys spawn all over the place.

    2. 120 for the melee ones, and 140 for the rangers. Occasionally you might also see a level 200. If you do, turn on protect prayer and kill it. It gives a guaranteed 100% drop that includes runite ore and some other things, adding up to about 225k.

    3. Melee is probably best. You'll get a ton of exp here either way you choose.

    4. Technically they're weak to crush weapons, but it's unnecessary. A whip and rune defender works great.

    5. Yes, there are lots of rocks you can trap them behind. The level 140 rangers are harder to safespot, but it is possible.

As a side note, if you have 73 mining, be sure to bring a pickaxe. One of the best parts of this task is that you can mine their bodies afterwards for living minerals. You get about 10-15 minerals from each one, and they sell for around 300 each. It usually takes about a day sitting in GE to sell, but so far I've made about 700-800k per task just from mining the living minerals from them.
