  1. Dungeoneering seems like an alright skill to me, but I think I'm going to wait to train it for a few weeks to see if they fix some of the bugs and things like that.

As a solo player, I'd really love it if they could make it so you could return to a dungeon if you lose connection or have to log out, but I realize the technical difficulties of this (since it's instanced and everything). Hopefully they can find a way around it sometime soon.

In the mean time, I'm back to doing slayer. I don't have a lot of time to get online but maybe that will get better once the school year ends.

I'm in my final weeks of high school and I couldn't be happier. Good riddance.

I do plan to have atleast 2 jobs this summer though, so maybe I won't be less busy after all.

Anyways though, I've got about an hour or so to get some slaying done, just got 96 attack the other day and I'm starting to get close to 85 slayer now. Only 67k to go!

  2. Well, last year was dubbed the "year of updates", so a lot of the things that happened were small but much needed changes.

Some of the nice smaller updates include the logout timer increase (stay logged in for five minutes without moving), the lobby which I'm sure you've noticed (makes changing worlds simple, no more typing in your password over and over), the addition of a new room for your house- the menagerie (for storing all the pets that have been cluttering your bank), new right and left click options on the icons by your minimap (quick prayers are really useful in all areas of the game), the addition of two new tabs on your gameplay panel- the notepad and the objectives tab which are great little useful tools, an increased trade limit based on how long you've been friends with someone (up to 140k if you both have max trade limits!), and a lot of game engine updates which just make the game run smoother in general.

There's been a few good new quests as well, most notably nomad's requiem, which is the new grand-master quest, and temple at sennisten which totally re-vamped the prayer skill by adding a new set of prayers (you switch between these, similar to switching between normal/ancient/lunar magicks). There were a lot of other interesting quests as well, but these were the two that stood out most to me.

The run/walk system has changed also, which makes a big impact on all aspects of gameplay. You'll find that your energy runs out a lot slower and restores much faster. On top of that, you can now sit down and rest to restore your energy even faster (right click the run icon next to the minimap and click rest to sit down).

There was a huge update made to slayer, adding a new master and a whole new dungeon made for high level slayers. In order to get in, you must be assigned to kill one of the monsters inside, and can only kill that monster. This created a great new place do certain previously annoying tasks (iron/steel/blue dragons, dark beasts, and greater demons to name a few). This has probably been my absolute favorite update, it really makes slaying a lot more enjoyable.

You can also now change your display name, so if you gave yourself a username that you aren't happy with anymore, you're free to change it at will.

There's also been some high level updates and rebalancing with skills that really needed it such as prayer and herblore. The new high level herblore potions are extremely useful and also untradeable, so if you'd like to take advantage of them you'll need to level up your herblore a bit. This has sent the price of herbs way up, so collecting or farming herbs is extremely profitable now.

A couple new minigames have been released- soul wars, mobilizing armies, and familiarization. You might want to give these a try and see what you think.

The hitpoints skill was changed around a lot. You'll find that you now have 10 times the amount of hitpoints you had before (and likewise, you hit and receive 10 times more damage). You can read more about it at this link: http://services.runescape.com/m=news/c=O7NdD4ssu1A/newsitem.ws?id=2709&allcat=true

There's a few website updates also, including access to the forums for high level free players, some new forums and general regrouping, and the adventurer's log which is a fun little tool showing your (and your friends) recent achievements like drops and level ups. It also tells you how many hours you've spent logged into runescape in total. Runescape classic was also re-released to the public again, but has been taken away for anyone who did not log into it during the two-week period. They may be doing this again sometime, so if you're interested in playing classic, keep an eye out for another public reopening.

And finally, you've probably noticed the new skill which was released a couple weeks ago- dungeoneering.

Overall, some of the biggest changes have been made from some of the smallest updates, so you'll want to take a look at everything and adjust your gameplay to fit. Hope this helps! :]

  3. Hill giants might be too crowded, they're often packed even on member worlds. Try moss giants instead, if I remember correctly there's a good spot in the brimhaven dungeon.

If you're looking for regular bones, I'd try cows or goblins by lumby, they should be close to empty on members worlds.

I'd suggest using range for whatever you plan to kill, so you don't have to go chasing down any monsters. It would be significantly faster than using melee.

  4. I ended up slaying for the rest of my bonus exp (well, actually, only until my multiplier got to 1.5x, then I had to log off).

I think the bonus weekend was a good idea, and I look forward to seeing it happen again sometime.

Anyways, I haven't even logged on since then. I might get on for about an hour here and there but my social life just kind of exploded so I'm really busy all of the sudden.

Until everything slows down (which could be a long time from now), I doubt I'll be playing much.

Maybe I'll reach this goal by the end of the year, or perhaps not. I guess I'll have to wait and find out ;]

  5. I'm doing great so far on bonus exp weekend.

I started out checking all of my tree patches (5 magics, 5 palm, and 1 calquat) and got 73-76 farming.

After that I finished all the potions I had in my bank, which got enough exp for 73-74 herblore (and only 10k left until 75!)

Then I used up my blue & crimson charms and got 77-82 summoning, plus a combat level, which means I'm 125 now.

So far I've earn over 1m exp, 9 skill levels, a combat level, 2 strange rocks, and it's only taken me an hour and a half.

My multiplier is currently waiting at 2.3x, and I really don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of my time.

I'm thinking about just buying logs and doing firemaking, like I had originally planned.

If that gets too boring (or if logs are unbuyable on the GE) I might just go back to slayer.

Anyways, time to go buy my prom dress and some killer new heels :]

  6. Protip: They spawn much faster if you have 73 mining and mine them.

I found a spot with 3 spawns right next to each other, and as long as I remember to mine them, there's no waiting time between kills.

If you have 73 mining, keep the task and use whip+defender.

If you don't have 73 mining, skip/block them.

If you mine them you get worse exp/hr and would be better off just skipping the task.

Even at my mining level I 1-hit them over half the time, so I'm barely wasting any time mining them.

I agree that they are a slow task, but the exp is nice so I don't skip them.

  7. Personally I do the ones in the zamorak area. There's tons of them so it's a pretty quick task.

I wear a zammy cloak, and a holy symbol. Once I'm safely in the zammy area I drop the holy symbol and equip my fury since I'm out of range of all the sara followers.

The nice thing about fighting in gwd is that you don't need to bring a slayer ring/gem since the kill count is shown at the top of the screen.

  8. I just attempted this yesterday with the following setup:

    Slayer helm

    Ammy of fury

    Karils top & bottom

    Infinity boots

    Whip

    Dfs

    Barrows gloves

    Ardy cape 3

    Ring of wealth

    In my inventory I had:

    Super set

    Pray pot x4

    Antifire x2

    Super antipoison x2

    Sharks

    +War tortoise full of sharks

I was able to kill him 10 times per trip, which was just about enough time for my war tort to run out, and I filled almost all of my invent and war tort with drops.

It worked well for me. The only problem I had was that it was really difficult to find an empty world.

  9. Just got 84 slayer~!

Only one level to go until whips, and I can't wait. On a side note though, I still haven't gotten a spiritual mage task yet. That's kind of annoying.

    Oh well.

Only 54k until 95 attack, which I'll be getting on my next task- nechryeal.

I'm also only 130k from 93 hitpoints.. sorry, 'constitution'. I love the update, but I'm goingto continue calling it hitpoints. Cause let's face it, constitution just sounds ugly.

    Anyways, time to continue slaying.

  10. Looks good to me except for the torso. Swap for a dharok/torag plate (I'm pretty sure the bonuses are the same).

Once you get 99 defence, switch obby cape for defence cape (t) since it's slightly better.

Also, I recommend doing summer's end for the blessed spirit shield. It pwns the obby shield.

  11. Thanks for the info, everyone.

I'm chosing to do firemaking just because its my most hated skill, and I'd do anything to speed up the exp and get it over with as quickly as possible.

  12. I've been planning out what I'm doing for bonus exp weekend, and thanks to the formula I saw on another thread, I've been able to get my average multipliers.

I need a little bit more info before I can figure out approximately how much exp I'll be getting and how many logs I need to buy, so I have a couple questions about firemaking since I haven't trained it in atleast 2 years..

    1. Will flame gloves/ring of fire/pyrelord familiar boosts stack with the bonus exp? If they do, could someone direct me to a good beacon network guide?

    2. I'm not going to do the east burning method (too click-intensive for me), so what would be my best choice? I can use teletabs to varrock center and burn from there, or is there another good spot? I used to burn at yanille but I think that's outdated by now.

    3. Any estimates on how many logs I'll be able to burn per hour?

    4. Are there any other tips and tricks I should know? I already use 2 tinderboxes.

Thanks in advance for your help :]

  13. Since the forums have been down, I got to 94 attack and 83 slayer :]

I can now kill spiritual mages, although I haven't gotten them for a task yet.

This goal has been going a lot faster lately. Even my tasks are going quicker due to my improved skills.

I also reached my goal of 73 farming yesterday, which is also nice.

During bonus exp weekend I've decided I won't be doing slayer. I'd rather use the extra exp on a skill that I hate training.

I thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of the boost for farming though. I'm going to buy 5 palm, 5 magic, and 1 calquat seed.

I'll plant them a day or two in advance, and then as soon as I log in on the weekend I'll run around and check them all, which will get me somewhere around 350k farming exp in about 10 minutes.

After that, I'll be burning magic logs, since I want to get 92 firemaking as easy and painless as possible. Depending on how quickly I can burn them, 5 or 6k magic logs should get me to 90 or 91 by the time the exp level returns to normal.

All of this will be a little expensive, but the farming exp is excellent, and the time & frustration saved by doing firemaking this way will be so worth it to me.

    I'm kind of excited ^^

  14. I definitely miss when runescape seemed huge.. When I would log in and not know what to do because it seemed like there were too many choices.

I miss when general stores sold other people's junk for low prices, pre-grand exchange. I remember when I first started I used to hang around the general store and buy beads for that one imp quest. I could get them at the store for 1gp, then I'd run to the bank and sell it someone for 300gp. I thought I was making tons of money XD

Oh, and I miss when I barely needed any exp to level up. When 400 exp til my next level seemed like a huge amount.

I guess I just miss being a newb. XD
