  1. yeah it's a lot more fun to hit a lot of 0s.

    Actually, I rarely hit 0's.

In my opinion, enjoyment is more important than efficiency. And I'll continue to do my slaying the way I like it, without blowing loads of money on supplies. But that's my choice, your mileage may vary.

  2. Ah, right. I forgot about that.

I don't piety tasks (don't care how efficient it is, I think it takes all of the fun out of slayer), so I use a lot less prayer pots than most people.

Sorry bout that. Quyneax is right then if you're praying piety.

  3. Depends on what you mean by 'viable'.

There are plenty of acceptable methods which cost a lot of money, see grimy's spreadsheets for details.

Otherwise, clean herbs with mousekeys, use MTK to gather herbs for you, grow your own herbs, and use any lamps/penguin hunting exp on herb.

Alternately, there's that new minigame. Not sure how good the exp is from that. You could always give it a try and see.

  4. If you intend to keep the bones and bank, using a BoB, you should only need 1 anti and 2 pray pots each trip. I do this and I get around 30 kills per trip. I consider the free prayer exp from the bones to be worth it (you'll get around 400-500k worth of pray exp per task).

If not, bring about 3 antis and maybe 6-7 pray pots.

  5.

Those warped thingies, dragons (depends how much u hate them), skeletal wyverns

Okay thanks, I think I'll probably end up blocking steel dragons.

You may want to give them another try once you get to kuradal's dungeon- I used to hate them but now I think they're a great task ;]

Your attack levels are almost 20 levels apart. I say test them out once you reach lvl 95 attack

Yes, but I did slayer from 85-99 attack and melee'd my steel tasks with no problems. Obviously it's faster as you get up higher, but the defense on metal dragons tends to be over-exaggerated. You just need to be using the right weapon.

  6. Those warped thingies, dragons (depends how much u hate them), skeletal wyverns

  7. Or you could just do like myself and eagerly await 83 farming to cash in your 56 spirit seeds and over a million free exp

    This ^

But if you think about it, all the growable-tree locations are kind of outdated by now.

Miscellania/etceteria tree: Can use fairy rings, or the miscellania tele scrolls (I use them, they're perfect for MTK).

    Port sarim tree: Cabbageport.

Brimhaven tree: Chipped teletabs, or house teleport if you have your house located there.

And keep in mind that in order to use one of the trees, you have to first go somewhere that gives you access to the spirit tree network. So all of the above listed methods are faster, due to being direct teleports (with the exception of the fairy rings).

All in all it's kind of a moot point, so it's down to personal preference. I have no use for any of them, but I'm definitely going to use all my seeds for a pile of exp when I can plant them.

  8. Anyone who knows a good item to flip will not tell you what their item is. The more people there are that are flipping a particular item, the less money each of them will make. You're probably just going to have to try some different things and learn yourself through trial and error.

  9. Many people will probably say stock up on smithing items (bars, ores, etc), since the skill is pretty long overdue for an overhaul. But it's all speculation, really. Most weapons/armor will probably continue slowly falling. The only guaranteed solid investment would be a rare, but you don't have enough for that.

  10. Thanks crafty ^.-

I finally got 95 defence! I bought a sara sword and have started my strength training, but it just feels so slow. I can't stand two-handed weapons... Oh well. I think I'll continue to 95 strength, then force myself to get through enough dungeoneering for a chaotic rapier. It would really help for getting strength from 95-99.

Maybe I should do one full-prestige rush per day, so it won't take me as long later? Just rush through all my first floors and solo c6 med the last one. Hmm. Maybe.

In other news, I only need around 500 more crim charms until I have enough for 88 summoning. But I'm kind of wondering what I'm even going to use the uni for? Bunyip is a cheaper pouch right now anyways, and it's always been plenty of healing. So why bother even using the unicorn? Hm. I don't really boss hunt so I'm not really sure if it'll even be useful.

  11. Ok that makes the salve ammy thing a lot easier. And in that case bonecrusher definitely isn't worth it. Thanks

    And I'm 55 thieving, 62 agility, 62 herblore, and 60 runecrafting

Knights of ardy to 60. Then master farmers to 70.

    Wilderness course

    Your choice, all are expensive

    graahk nats

    To add on to this:

For theiving, if you enjoy minigame-style training, you can do pyramid plunder even at low levels like this. I was getting rates of around 60-70k exp/hour at level 61+, so it's not a bad option. The levels come very quickly and I personally find it pretty fun.

And for herblore, you can save yourself a fair amount of money by doing your weekly penguins and using the points there. Also, make sure you're using your kingdom to gather herbs for you.

Finally, don't forget to do the circus also for the easy agility exp. It's not alot (somewhere around 8k a week, I think?) but it'll save you a bit of time running circles around the agility course.

  12. Not sure what the best methods are, you'd have to calculate it yourself. It depends how much the raw fish costs vs. how much you can sell it for cooked. Remember that just because a fish is cheaper, it doesn't mean it will cost less in the long run.

However, it would take you approximately:

    831,000 Rocktail

    or

    890,000 Sharks

    or

    1,246,000 Monkfish

(Anything lower than that would be a waste of your time).

With sharks/rocktail you'd probably get somewhere around 250k exp an hour if I recall correctly.

So that's somewhere around 725-760 hours. Good luck.

  13. All farming crops are grown in cycles. When you log out, you reset the current growth cycle.

For example, if you plant an herb, it will grow in three 20 minute growth cycles (if I recall correctly).

Let's say you're 15 minutes into the second growth cycle. If you log out and then log back in, you've basically just lost those 15 minutes and you're back at the beginning of cycle 2 again.

The same goes for trees, but on a larger scale.

Another reason is that even though you're having a farmer watch it (I assume you are), your tree can still get diseased. The farmer will cure it for you, but plants lose a growth cycle when they get diseased. So it will take an extra cycle every time your plant gets diseased. This is why it is always a good idea to supercompost your trees, even if a farmer is watching it for you. It won't get diseased as often, therefore loses less growth cycles, and thus will be done in a shorter amount of time.

    I hope that made sense.

I suspected that about the disease, that is why I mentioned compost (but no one ever told me about logging in and out! :() In that case, I must log in at just the correct time (approximately every 90 mins for a farm run) to reset the cycle

Does anyone happen know what the length of a tree cycle is?

You can find all the growth cycle lengths here: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Seeds

  14. Logging in and out a lot affects the growth time and that 3h is an average. I don't think either type of compost affects the time.

^How so? And if it were an average, how come my tree is never done in less than 220 mins?

  15. Phats cost like 1b or something lol.

Green drags are 500k an hour.

It will take 2000 hours to get 1bil doing green drags.

I guarantee you that that will mentally scar you, 2000 hours is 80 days non stop playing or like 6 hours a day for a year.

How fun would it be to spend 2000 hours camping green drags with 1071390713 bots competing with you.

No, the REALLY fun part of this is after you've done all that and find out that in that time partyhat prices have doubled.

    +1

Green dragons is not going to get you a phat, no matter how hard you try. Phats will continue to raise in price and it will always be out of reach with a slow money-making method like that.

Your only real way of getting a phat is by getting into the rares market and starting to flip, merch, trade, etc until you've got the street value for one.

So to summarize: just go for 99 mage.

  16. I disagree, Guards really aren't that good. They're always camped with low level players trying to train, and they're pretty spread out in comparison to other monsters.

Catablepons are a good option, or you can try Cockatrice. I always had good luck there- plus you can get a load of limpwurt roots every trip and make a little extra profit.

  17. Lots of bearable things > not so much but still a lot of unbearable things. What is bearable is different per person, of course.

    +1

Personally, I'm the opposite. I think playing SC normally is completely unbearable, but I love using fast sc. So try a few games of each and see what you prefer.

Oh, and to answer the question in the original post- I usually do c1-c3-c5, starting by doing a quick look around to see what the nearest c3 is. Grab a c1 clay, make the tool for the c3, then do the same for the c5. I think it's a bit faster than making a whole set of c1 tools, then a whole set of c3's, etc.

  18. I think it was armored zombies but if you want good stats in the long run, do slayer.

    +1

If you ever intend to have max stats (or even reach a goal like getting 80 in all skills) you'll need slayer exp anyways, so you might as well get it at the same time as your combat levels.

  19. I recently bought Fury, so I wonder what piece of equipment to save for next. Are there any other items that are the best for their slot and will be unlikely to fall in price?

    Here is my current setup:

Head: Helm of Netzivot, or Sara Coif Make sure you have a Full slayer helm for slaying purposes.

    Amulet: Fury

Body: Rune Plate, or Black D'hide Why still bother with rune? Almost anything is better than that. Go for a dharoks or torags platebody.

Legs: Dragon, or Black D'hide Same as above- dragon armor's stats are not very good. Verac's skirt is your best choice here.

    Boots: Dragon, or Snakeskin

Weapon: Whip, or Steel Knives / Zanik's C'bow with Bone Bolts Rune c'bow+broad bolts is the best range weapon for general use.

Shield: Rune Defender, or Rune Kite You really don't need the rune kite, just use defender all the time.

Ring: Lumbridge 4, or Wealth, or Life Warrior/berserker ring, depending on your budget. Wealth is mostly useless, the only thing it really does is makes you have less 'nothing' drops.

Also, is there any cheap (under 1 million) equipment that I should use instead of my current.

  20. Well, I've decided today is a good day to get a few odd levels and get some things done.

On my to do list for today is:

    1. 80 prayer on my gilded altar with the bones I bought yesterday

    2. 86 magic - I'm only 70k away, might as well go for it. I'll probably just go mage barrows for a while, or I guess I could alch something instead.

    3. 74 crafting, only 18k away. I can probably get this pretty quickly with battlestaves.

    4. Get the rest of the rocks I need for shattered heart.

    5. Do my penguin hunting for the week.

    6. Attempt the fishing trawler, finish an ardy elite task.

    7. Make range mix in Otto's hut, finish a fremmy diary task.

    8. Complete a few varrock diary tasks- make a summer pie, backfire a dagon'hai's spell, and complete a large job at the sawmill.

And if I manage to get all of this done, I'll return to slayer. Which is going well, I'm only 130k from 94 defence. I should be getting 95 defence, 89 slayer, and 96 hitpoints at right about the same time. Then I'm switching over to strength training for a good 5 levels. Maybe at that point I'll actually take some time off for dungeoneering. I would really like to get some of the good rewards, if I can stand it for long enough. But once I can do higher floors, have multiple bounds, etc, it's not going to be as slow so maybe I'll actually start to enjoy it a little more.

  21. Haha, excuse my anger at dungeoneering. I'm just not used to getting such bad exp rates.

I've decided to just go ahead and use tears of guth til 50 dung, then start actually training it the real way for tokens.

The exp rates will be a lot better once I can get to the higher floors, plus I'll already have 2 binds which will make things much easier.

In other news, I used up several effigies that I had sitting in my bank and managed to get to 86 herby :]

Also did tears of guth and got 5 dunge levels (lawl) so I'm sitting at 36-almost-37 right now.

I've got nearly enough d bones banked for another prayer level, and I think I'm going to go ahead and just buy the rest to get to 80 or 85. I'm tired of my pray being so low.

I decided I'd like to get a fire cape, finally, so I made an attempt the other day. Made it to jad just fine, but I got incredibly confused during the fight and clicked the wrong prayer a couple times. The sound effects are extremely confusing, all the guides make it sound really simple, but I have to disagree. I think I'll wait to try again until I have atleast 85+ range. My range level is pretty sad and pathetic, so it took me a full 2 hours to get to Jad. Took me about 5 minutes to kill each 360, which is pretty damn bad.

I'm almost to 94 defense now, which means I'll be switching to strength training soon. I'm really not looking forward to it. Sara sword is nice and all but I'm really gonna miss my defender.

And finally, I managed to get both a range and agility level from the circus yesterday. Not too shabby. Also getting really close to a mage level as well.

And now I've got to go.. midterms are calling me. Bah.

  22. I got around 840 bones per war tortoise on a gilded altar. A war tortoise lasts for 43 minutes. Works out to be 1100-1200 bones per hour, slightly afk.

Yup, Grimy's prayer spreadsheet says 1,297 per hour.

Night spiders drop the shadow silk hood and they appear on floor 12-47. And according to rune wiki, you're more likely to find the spiders on 5:5 large floors.

    Perfect, thanks.

By the way, where can I find all of Grimy's various spreadsheets?
