  1. These were in summer '07. In both cases I played with my lvl 3 skiller which had about 50 mining and 30 smithing at the time.

    First one:

I banked my iron ores in Varrock West, then I saw two players: (n=noob, a=another player)

n: follow me to get free items

    a: okay

I started following them, they walked south towards the Varrock West mine. Before they were there, they stopped.

n: ok. trade me ur rune scimmy and i'll trade it back, then i'll give u 500k.

me: don't listen to him, he's a scammer

*Thank you, your abuse-report has been received*

    n: he's a noob (meant me)

    n: he's only lvl 3 lol noob

a: lvl 3 noob get away

I quietly moved to the mine.

    Second:

I was at the Varrock west mine, I had 52 mining and trained to get 55.

    noob: noob

    me: who? me?

    noob: ur noob

    me: no i'm not

noob: lol ur only lvl 3

    me: i have 52 mining. what's yours?

    noob: this isn't my main

me: what's your main's mining then?

    noob: 99

    me: yea sure...

    noob: ur sad

me: really? that's new to me

noob: lol noob my main is lvl 126 and he can own you

    me: what's his username?

    noob: *tells his main's username*

I checked his main's stats. Not even on hi-scores...

me: your main is not in highscores. so you don't have 99 mining.

noob: my friend is a pmod he'll ban u

me: player mods can only mute.

    noob: he can ban u

    me: no way.

    noob: stfu

    me: sure

  2. Get as high prayer bonus as possible (monk robes + holy symbol is enough), and use the best bow you can. I did it with yew short and bronze arrows at lvl 45 range, but it took some time. When the fight starts, activate Protect from Magic and run to the edge. There are some small "bridges" to get there. Then the demon can't even attack you, so no food is required. Range the demon. Take 1-2 prayer pots with you.

You can use magic, but the demon is strong against it. If you can use Wind Blast or better, you can mage it. Swap the bow with an Air Battle/Mystic staff.

  3. Fly fishing till you get 53. Then cook the fish to get cooking 53 too. Takes a few hours depending on your current levels. But where to fish, is another question. Shilo Village would be the best place, but I don't think you can access it. Lumby or Barbarian Village then. Remember to bank your fish.

  4. I can't understand how the "good" players use huge amount of money for everything, while I can do every quest for under 50k :? The most expensive item I have are the dragon boots (cost was about 280k when I bought 'em). Then I have addy gloves (3k for such awesome gloves...), Dragon Scimitar (I also have DDS and battleaxe, but I only use DDS at Giant Mole and battleaxe at combat mini-games), glory ammy (bought when they were 60k each), helm of neitiznot, legends' cape, rune defender, granite body and dragon skirt. They are cheap, but so what? I don't like wasting cash. I use monkfish for everything except if lobsters are enough (green dragon come to mind). I've only had sharks twice; the guy I completed Heroes' with gave me 50 for free and I used one in Fremmy Trials.

Money is how you use it - not how much you use it. If you use 10M+ equipment for everything at lvl 100+, you fail. I do quests, training, and pretty much everything with cheap items, and at lvl 89. I did Monkey Madness with monk robes, Yew Shortbow and Iron Scimitar (for killing annoying spiders). Beat that ;)

  5. I can't understand merchanting at all. RuneScape is a game, and games are supposed to be fun. Is it fun to stand in GE for hours to get about 2-3M profit? And it's far away from being the best way to make money, if you would actually train skills you would soon have much more money than you would ever get from merchanting, and a nice chunk of xp too. And it's 100x funnier than standing in GE. GE merchanting is for players who don't care about anything else than having lots of money. I've only had over a million twice and I've played since August 2005. I've completed hard quests, like Contact, with a really small budget (Under 50k for food and items for the quest, plus my equipment that costs around 600-800k). Money isn't a solution for anything - it's only a way to show off to other players how rich you are.

Feel free to call me a noob, or anything, I don't care.

  6. The Scimmy Should Be Stronger Cause You Have To Do Monkey Maddness Which Is 100x Harder Than Lost City

I used more money for Lost City than I used for Monkey Madness. About 5k for 100 Fire Strikes to do Lost City. And I did Monkey Madness with a zero gp budget. (I spent about 1-2 hours getting all items, and traded items I found in my bank, like food, for prayer pots ;D) Monkey Madness is actually not that hard (but not very easy either) if you have 43+ prayer. Of course Lost City is still much easier.

  7.

My Strength level is 99. = Mijn Kracht niveau is 99. xDDDD

My Strength level is 99. = Minun vahvuustasoni on 99.

    ... #-o

    It's not. = Ei ole.

Finnish translations of pretty much every single computer program/game are really bad and many programs are half-translated (Audacity comes to mind first...)

Attack Ice Troll = Hyökkää: Jääpeikko

    Adamant = Kivenkova (Rock-hard) -.-

I have 5k fire runes. = Minulla on 5k tuliriimuja.

Slayer = Tappaminen (killing... probably the best possible translation.)

  8. On 13th August 2005, I created Kurinin742.

On 15th August, I completed my first quest (at lvl 4, Rune Mysteries)

When I was lvl 5 I hit 200 gp. I bought a steel dagger and thought that it's the best weapon of RS.

When I was lvl 9 I went upstairs in Zaff's shop and a huge pile of cash appeared on the floor. I grabbed the money and looked at my inventory... 26k cash  I surely had use for the cash! ;) However, I thought that cash can randomly appear in that place and waited like ~15 mins to see if there would be more cash, nothing appeared though :)

When I got 15 firemaking so I could burn Oaks I was really happy. Firemaking was my favourite skill back then, trained it to 56 with most other skills at 20-30.

When I hit 41 woodcutting I saw the text: "You can now use Rune axe and members can now use Dragon Axe." (The dragon axe used to be just as good as rune, and it had the same requirement too. It was later changed to chop faster and require 61 woodcutting)

When I killed my first lesser demon I was so happy... lvl 43, both my combat and wilderness level :)

I trained my defense from 20 to 30 at Moss Giants (I was around lvl 35-40 combat back then). Fun.

I completed Dragon Slayer on 17 May 2006. Lvl 47 combat increased to 50 after the quest.

    ElvargtheDragon.jpg

I miss these old days :( The old interface was much better. Also I hated it when the dragons' looks were updated. I still hate that.

On 18 May 2006, I completed Prince Ali Rescue, my last free quest until Swept Away.

When I was lvl 54, I went to a PK trip, and lost nearly everything. Also in May 2006.

On 3rd November 2006, I became a member. One day later, I completed my first member quest: Gertrude's Cat. Since that day I've loved quests.

On the day Hunter was released, I trained it to 30+ and the next day to 40+. In the Feldip Hills there were hundreds of players hunting birds. It was pretty hard to tell which trap was mine

In late December 06/early January 07 I trained my attack from 40 to 60 in Pest Control. Started with a super-poisoned Bone Dagger.

If I remember right, I completed my first master quest (Monkey Madness) in July 2007. Took me two days. I collected all items myself :)

I rioted at the Duel Arena on 10th December '07. "Bring back the old duel arena!" One day later, I quitted. However, I did the christmas event.

In April '08, I came back. 3 months subscription immediately.

In summer '08 I completed Legends'.

These are the things I remember best.

  9. There will be a big Phoenix for the quest, I think you can get the secondary items whatever they will be from it... Or somewhere near it, maybe there will be Phoenixes that you can fight or so... Or even better, Jagex said that they will respawn from ashes, maybe you can get the secondary item from the big Phoenix after completing the quest and nowhere else? And if you lose it you can get it back from that big Phoenix.

  10. Your level 84 and you get hounded by low-level F2per's? What were you wearing? I'm 85 and I can't remember the last time another player acted immature to me or begged for free stuff (was so long ago). Though it may be because I'm F2p and the most expensive thing I have walked around in is full Guthix rune armour...

Everything that looks cool is a great noob magnet :) Stealing Creation armor, for example, is very easy to get and only requires 40 defence, but noobs follow you everywhere if you wear it. Same if you have an Omni-Tiara (easy to get, 50 runecraft requires some time though), old event stuff (x-mas '05 event stuff seems to work best), and even a yin yang amulet (F2P item, no requirements, no bonuses, costs 100gp). Also, try alching if you have high enough magic for high alch ;)

  11.

The Abyss pic is an amazing find, great job! THAT is a true WTF picture :D.

I checked the maps of the Abyss and the fairy ring abyss area, and neither of them has an area shaped like the one on the minimap  But I don't know any other red colored areas in RS, although I have been in nearly every single area... Maybe it's a new area used in a future quest?

However, I think that the bottom of the Contact dungeon it also colored red... I'm not sure although I completed the quest in November...

And, I just realized a very interesting thing about dungeons. I'm pretty much sure that they're on layer 3 instead of 0. Why? Because no dungeon has a higher room that the starting one (except for Stronghold of Player Safety), and in some dungeons you can see a layer under the starting one (the same dungeon again, Stronghold of Player Safety, probably starts on layer 1 or 2). It would be easier for Jagex to put the starting level of a dungeon on layer 3, because the could add the lower ones just under it.

I'm not 100% sure about this though...

I also noticed that the highest and lowest levels of Stronghold of Security are on the same layer, you can see the first one's walls from the fourth one's starting point. ::'

  12. If you're a high level P2P player don't go to F2P Varrock or you'll regret that for the rest of your life. Everytime I do that players start following me and ask "OMG wat i sthat waepon can i buy it plz plzp lz 1k plzplz" or "phr33 m0n3y pl0x". However, the intelligent F2P players seem to be around the Lumbridge cow field (the one next to Al Kharid gate). I went to F2P world 1 once with member items on. I started alching maple longs at the Lumbridge Castle. Surprisingly, only one player asks me how I did that glow. I told him and went to Falador next. No one said anything to me. Then I went to Varrock, and the first thing I saw was a lvl 5 noob asking me for free items. I told him to train his skills to get money. After that, I went to Lumbridge cowfield wielding my Blurite Sword. No one called me a noob, no one asked me for items or money. I chatted with them for at least half an hour, and got a chunk of strength xp from the cows there. So, if you go to F2P, go to the cowfield :)

Generally, the most stupid players are lvl 3-20 F2P's ("phr33 st00f pl0x!") and lvl 60-70 P2P's ("dude ur n00b u have a dragon scimitar and i have a whip and it's much better than ur scimitar and u have no life and i'm the b357 and u failed at life and i r***d ur mom"). However, there are exceptions.

I'm lvl 89 (with summoning, 84 without) and I don't have a whip, a black mask, any barrows items, or really anything that costs 300k+. I bought a whip once and sold it after 5 mins as I noticed that it's not that good really. My dragon scimitar does the job with 1/10 of the cost :) I've always been like that; I try to do everything without wasting money. For example, when I did Monkey Madness, I got every single item that I needed myself (food, gold bars, balls of wool and so on). I've played since August '05 and I don't have any 80+ skills, so what? I train my skills equally and that's the way I like. I don't care if someone calls me a noob, as a noob wouldn't get 160 QP's very easily :)

And if you really read this all, have a cookie ;)

  13. I can think of a few..

Barbarian Village Strongholds of Security and Player Safety are very popular for training in F2P, and Player Safety has the only F2P monsters with any "good" drops

    Entrana

    Rimmington

    Most of Morytania

Priffindas or however you spell it

Seers Village, kind of meh Flax is a good money source for low-mid level members, and this place is awesome for woodcutting (every single type of tree except the special ones, like arctic pine are found here)

    Yanille

    Castle Wars

all I can think of for now.

  14. I was in Draynor training woodcutting. I weared a hat from x-mas 05 event. Then a noob comes.

    Noob: Nice hat

    Me: Thanks

    Noob: Can I buy it

    Me: It's not tradable

    Noob: 1k

    Me: It's not tradable

    Noob: 5k

    Me: It's not tradable!!!

    Noob: Plz

Me: I can't trade it, it's not tradable

Noob: How did u get it?

    Me: Christmas 2005 event

    Noob: Oh ok

Noob: But i want that hat

    Me: You can't get it

Noob: 10k plz i want it

    Me: It's not tradable

Noob: Where can i get it

Me: It's from Christmas 2005 event, you can't get it anymore

    Noob: Plz tell me

Me: You can't get it anymore

    Noob: :(

Some players just don't seem to understand anything...

  15. I was jusst wonderinig what all of you considered a high,

    1. combat level. 120+

    2. total level. 1500+

    3. level in a skill. Depends on the skill. In easy ones (cooking and fletching for example) 90+, and in hard ones (runecrafting, farming, slayer for example) even 60-70.

    4. Amount of Quest points. 200+

    Discuss....

  16. * Rune Defender is very easy to get nowadays (when I first got to Warriors' Guild it took me 2-3 hours to get Iron, but about a year later I got all from steel -> rune in 1 hour). And it's a very good item :)

    * RFD gloves. The weaker ones cost next to nothing and they give extremely high bonuses for gloves (addy gloves are 3k and I think they give +8 to attack/defense/strength bonuses)

    * Bronze knives are a very quick way to train range and with attractor/accumulator they are even better. They cost 14-15 gp at the GE and they're very quick. Myself I use Iron darts though because I made them when I got 50 smithing for Legends'.

    * Stealing Creation morph-tool - Crazy xp for many skills, and easy to get.
