  1. I wouldn't worry too much about Germany this time around, as far as invading for no reason goes. I could be wrong though. Where you been lately, Nero/Dusty?
  2. Would anyone be interested in importing hydrogen to help replace oil? Lower your carbon footprint, all that.
  3. The Spanish President makes a speech: "We live in a troubled world. In the past year alone, over 2 and a half million innocent civilians have died from the terrible curse on mankind that is warfare. Millions have been enslaved, many of those slaves have since died from poor conditions and disease, and the strife caused by the war in Argentina. In Australia, millions have been displaced, and unknown numbers of innocents have been killed. The most populous city in Australia has been burnt to the ground, for little reason. Over one and a half Indonesion civilians have been killed by the Japanese air force, in a needless attack on innocents. This will not be forgotten by history. Thousands of Canadians have died, and all these wars continue. The great nation of Germany is struck by terrorism, and the troubles associated with it. We will continue to accept refugees from effected nations, though only as many as we can handle, the last thing we or the refugees need is to starve or die of disease in a supposed 'safe' country. The world is in chaos, and we will defend ourselves if the war comes to us. But until that day, god forbid it ever come, we must focus on Spain. We want to be a nation that our people can be proud of. We have made huge steps as a nation, and made great sacrifices, but today we can proudly say we are fully energy independant, and even exporting energy [OOC: Archi has not confirmed this yet, but if the system works as he explained it, this is correct.]. We are on the verge of complete independance from oil for transportation. We have had great increases in quality in education, and overall quality of life. We have invested heavily in the defense and safety of our citizens, and we plan to keep ourselves as safe as possible from outside threats. The world is not as safe as it once was. But we, my fellow countrymen, will persevere. In these troubled times, we must work hard to succeed, but succeed we will. We are a strong, proud nation, and we will not fall."
  4. Was just saying that's more your jurisdiction, as you've made your stance very clear about foreign capture of South American territories. Though the culture difference is very large between Brasil and Spanish speaking south america, so you invading and keeping it that way would be more difficult than Argentina doing so, but then again Argentina is probably fairly hated right now by NPCs. Actually, Spain begins conducting a poll of the world's opinions on all this warfare if possible. Im mostly talking about NPCs, so archi'll have to answer this one.
  5. I recommend a treaty. Treaty of Madrid/Berlin/Buenos Aires/ wherever we hold it. Terms: Germany and Argentina cease conflict in Argentina, and Argentina pulls out of Australia (if there's anything left there). Argentina releases all slaves (though any can choose to stay as citizens if they choose, and this is acceptable to the Argentinians), as at this point they're more of a problem than a plus right now, and slavery is abolished. Seeing as the Argentinians seem to have a decent amount of trouble at home with the independence of Paraguay, I think lowering how many fronts they're fighting on would be highly beneficial for them. OOC: Brasil and Argentina can really do what they please with South America, as long as it remains as humanitarian as possible, with no major loss of civilian life.
  6. Because that's how it works? I, like many other nations (including NPC's) were against slavery and invasions of Canada. I'm taking the most realistic response. Imagine if in real life a country were to invade another, blow up a city for very little reason, take a million slaves, and go back home. I don't think everyone would just go along with their days and not care, most countries wold condemn it. As would most people go against the US invading Canada. And Spork, the US doesn't have an ungodly powerful military in this game, because you have to purchase one. Oh, and remember Iraq, and Afghanistan? Canada is a lot better at fighting than them, and we've still gone through hell in those wars. Spain makes a statement that it will try to stay out of these wars, unless Europe is attacked, or, naturally, if there is any attack on Spain or her small number of territories. Of course, if this escalates much further we may be forced to enter the conflict directly. We also express regret over the massive loss of life in Indonesia and Argentina. 2.5 million civilians dead is simply atrocious. We remain open to Canadian refugees, and will accept any Argentinians who are against their government and need a place to avoid persecution.
  7. Eh, I think I don't want to be in these wars. It's too early in the game. (OOC)
  8. Eh, I usually just end up isolationist, or stick with my strong allies.
  9. Hey Gary. As people've suggested, try to read through the thread a bit, or atleast Archi's daily event summaries.
  10. Argentina invaded western Africa. That counts. Spain, again offers sanction to any Canadian citizen who needs a place to go. Our transports continue transporting Canadians, and also providing aid (food, medicine, etc)
  11. About 1 in ten, and each has an average of about 3 guns, and they'd probably arm their neighbors and other resistance members. The military has over 100,000 members as well. Also, by declaring war on Canada you declared war on the UK, Australia, etc pretty much.
  12. I just don't really have the resources to defend another country that I've had no relations with, that is being attacked by a country with an IAD of 700m. Helping the Canadian people survive is the best I can do.
  13. Welcome to the real world. I'm being about as realistic as I can be compared to most people. The United States has a budget 10x mine. Not terribly much I can do.
  14. Spain offers Canadian citizens refuge, and condemns the United States unprovoked aggression, though cannot provide military assistance at this time. We do however send several transport ships, with escort, to areas where the Americans have yet to reach, in order to evacuate those unwilling or unable to fight. We send word to the United States beforehand, and ensure them that this is merely a humanitarian effort, in order to reduce loss of life.
  15. "A huge number of countries have demanded that Argentinian leaders step down immediately." Do any of them take any action?
  16. I don't do anything more because I don't have the military strength to both defend and launch an attack half way around the globe. Yet. Spain will support South Africa, should he take any action, most likely.
  17. I'd expect most people to be pretty against the mass murdering slavers. Agree with Rocco. If you're gone for that long a period of time, your country should either be put into stasis, or replaced by an npc.
  18. I'm pretty sure that your action is more of a blockade than an embargo. I will have to consult with my advisors. Also, I've been barking up the tree of international cooperation for a while. No one likes to do that kind of stuff. :( A blockade would be surrounding their country. We're forcibly stopping slavers from trading in the Mediterranean. All other nation's ships will pass freely, naturally. So far they've blown a city of near 5 million people, and enslaved another million. I think blocking trade is a pretty small response. In any case Grim, I'm out of money basically for this reset, minus a few billion I have in emergency funds.
  19. Grim, that's an entire year's tax dollars. Plus it's rather suspiscious that you know the details of a terrorist group. And condemning another country for not paying a huge sum of money to find information about some of the worst terrorists in the world that you're withholding? That'll go well.
  20. Spain uses it's ships to block passage through the Strait of Gibraltar by any Argentinian ships. Will anyone join in our embargo against Argentina?
  21. Did you mean Spain? The title of my PM could be confusing since I originally thought I was italy, since it wasn't claimed on the front page. Grim, are you talking about Clear Sky? Spain advises a worldwide embargo on Argentina
  22. Double post, but eh. Spain invests in more hospitals around the country, and improves existing ones. Also, we set up a massive disease research center filled with the best and the brightest. Could I get the costs for those at some point, Arch? We begin construction of 4 destroyers and two cruisers, for about 26 billion total, plus one aircraft carrier for four billion, and we invest in more dry docks for 3 billion.
  23. Spain begins construction of more defenses around the country, including modular/upgradeable anti air batteries. Spain also announces it's goals to be 100% energy independent in the coming years.
  24. I'm tempted to send 400 Spanish dudes in conquistador outfits just to confuse the hell out of south america. NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!
